DSV rookie Baumann: "Romed is a win for our entire team"
[ad_1]
By Max Ischia and Roman Stelzl
Innsbruck – There he stood in the previous week at the Rettenbachferner – with shouldered skis, white helmet and in this red and white racing dress with the German Ski Association (DSV) typical zebra crossing. "Some of my ex-colleagues had to turn around twice already," laughed Romed Baumann, who is now pushing for the DSV after the summer change of…

Redster team’s first benchmark looks promising

By SPORTS EDITOR FOR SUSTAINHEALTH
PUBLISHED: 16:12, 29 October 2019 | UPDATED: 16:42, 29 October 2019
The season is on and the Redster team’s first benchmark looks promising: Mikaela Shiffrin scores 20 points more than at last year’s Giant Slalom in Sölden – coming in 2nd – and she is more than happy about her strong start.
(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});
For the two Atomic rookies Lucas Braathen (6th) and Erik Read (7th) having joined the Redster team has already paid off. And in light of his spectacular fall on the previous day, Manuel Feller’s 12th place was a small sensation as well.
“Before Sölden the athletes’ performance is like a blackbox: they don’t know where they stand until they get there,” Atomic Race Manager Christian Höflehner describes the yearly challenge regarding the start of the season. It’s a difficult Giant Slalom, right at the beginning. Those who are in front on Sölden’s Rettenbachferner glacier usually do well throughout the whole winter.
20 ON TOP: MIKAELA IS HAPPY ABOUT HER STRONG START Regarding Mikaela Shiffrin’s performance, that’s the expectation anyway. And even though Sölden is definitely not one of her favorite races, she missed the victory by only 6 hundredths of a second. Scoring 20 points more than last year she was really satisfied. Eva-Maria Brem and Ricarda Haaser, the two new additions to the Atomic women’s team, will need a bit more acclimation time until they’re ready to celebrate: place 25 and 28 were not satisfactory, given their strong performances in training. “We’re getting there, I’m sure. We’ll have lots of great moments with these two ladies,” team manager Höflehner is convinced.

NEWCOMERS TOP: LUCAS AND ERIK ARE CLOSE The Atomic team seems to be the right spot for the next-Norge youngster Lucas Braathen and Canadian Erik Read. The new Redster additions kicked off strongly: Braathen carved the fastest time in the second run into the glacier and came in 6th. Only 19 hundreths behind was Erik Read, finishing as number 7 in his first race on Atomic. He’s so happy with the support from Altenmarkt that even his father, Canadian speed legend Ken Read, and his brother Jeffrey now ski on Redster. And finally, even Manuel Feller has some reason to celebrate his 12th place: After his spectacular fall the previous day that could have had really serious consequences, he was lucky to be at the start at all.
Next stop: November 23rd and 24th in Levi (Finland) with two Slalom races.

Казалось бы, в выигрыше от увеличения километража трасс и строительства новых подъемников будут очень многие, в…
