Republicans launch Operation Chaos 2020 ahead of SC Democratic Primary

California voters can be forgiven for assuming that political party registration doesnt really matter.

In 2010 voters backed a measure to create the states nonpartisan top two election system, in which all primary voters fill out a ballot with every candidate on it regardless of either the voters or the candidates political party. The top two winners then move on to the general election ballot even if theyre both from the same party.

In races for state legislative and congressional seats, the top two method will still reign on the 2020 ballot.;

But when you vote in the presidential primary, its back to the old partisan system: Democrats on the Democratic ballot, Republicans on the Republican ballot, and so on.

So while voting in California usually goes like this under the top two:

Sanders Warns California Primary Could Disenfranchise His Independent Base

OAKLAND Presidential candidate Bernie Sanders charged Friday that Californias primary system threatens to disenfranchise millions of independent voters whose support he has cultivated in the nations most populous state.

Sanders said Friday during a press conference in Santa Ana that he and his team have been campaigning hard to reach Californias 5.3 million no-party-preference voters, who now represent the second largest voting bloc in the state at 25.9 percent ahead of Republicans, who comprise 23.7 percent.

But in California, where voting has already started ahead of the March 3 election, the Vermont senator said hes concerned that independents are not yet turning out in large numbers.

Each party establishes its own presidential primary rules. In California, Democrats allow independents to participate if those voters request a Democratic ballot, while Republicans have a closed system that requires voters to re-register with the GOP.

Unfortunately, under the current NPP participation rules, we risk locking out millions of young people millions of young people of color and many, many other people who wanted to participate in the Democratic primary but may find it impossible for them to do so, he said. And that seems to me to be very, very wrong.

Sanders himself has long been registered as an independent while serving in Congress, but he caucuses with Democrats and has filed as a Democrat to run twice for president.

How Are Presidential Primary Elections Conducted In California

Qualified political parties in California may hold presidential primaries in one of two ways:

Closed presidential primary only voters indicating a preference for a party may vote for that partys presidential nominee.

Modified-closed presidential primary the party also allows voters who did not state a party preference to vote for that partys presidential nominee.

If a qualified political party chooses to hold a modified-closed presidential primary, the party must notify the California Secretary of State no later than the 135th day before Election Day.

Effort Underway To Get Republicans To Vote In Sc Democratic Primary

GREENVILLE CO., SC One Upstate group is working to get Republicans to vote in the South Carolinas Democratic primary on February 29.

Karen Martin, the organizer of Trump 2-29, said the group is encouraging Republicans to vote for Senator Bernie Sanders in Februarys primary.

GOP leaders in the Upstate say, the effort is designed to make a point about open primaries.

Trump 2-29 is set to announce their plans during a news conference at Greenville GOP headquarters Thursday morning.

GOP chairs from five counties, and leaders of the Tea Party activist group plan to attend the announcement.

Following the announcement, the group plans to spread their message across Republican social media pages and conservative talk radio shows.

Republican party officials voted in September 2019 to cancel the GOP primary. Party leaders said the cancellation will save taxpayers over $1.2 million.

If There Is Such Evidence I Havent Seen This

Yanna Krupnikov, an associate political science professor at Stony Brook University, told me that even beginning to understand the impact of crossover voting strategies like Operation Chaos or the South Carolina GOPs votes for Bernie Sanders is challenging.

For example, wed first have to assume that partisans would truthfully explain their strategies, she said. Second, wed have to assume a counterfactual of what would have happened if there wasnt any effort by the other party to push a certain candidate. She added she hadnt seen much proof that crossover voting strategies were effective. If there is such evidence, I havent seen this.

Kelly Rader, an associate political science professor at Yale University, agreed, telling me that while crossover voting is common in open primaries, theres little empirical evidence that crossover voters are trying to sabotage the party in the general election. Rather, she said, They seem to be voting for their sincerely preferred candidates. Of the South Carolina GOPs push for Sanders, she said, It seems more like a political stunt to draw attention to the drawbacks of open primaries.

If you have a mail-in absentee ballot:;For it to count,;it must be received by your county voter registration office no later than 7 p.m. Tuesday night.

Options to ensure your vote is counted if you have not mailed it already include personally delivering your ballot to your county voter registration office.

Grassroots Group Of Republicans Say They Are Protesting Open Primaries By Voting In Saturdays Primary

COLUMBIA, S.C. – Cole Kazmarski and thousands of other voters in South Carolina will be casting their ballots in the Democratic Presidential Preference Primary on Saturday.

Kazmarski is the Vice Chair for the Midlands Republican Liberty Caucus. “This coming Saturday I plan to vote for Bernie,” she said.

Kazmarski is taking part in Operation Chaos 2020. Some conservative Republicans in South Carolina are protesting open primaries in the Palmetto State by voting on Saturday. “The only thing you have to lose is you get on their mailing list and they spend a little ad money on you in the future.”

Pressley Stutts is the Chairman of the Greenville Tea Party. He is urging fellow Republicans to vote for Senator Bernie Sanders in Saturday’s primary. “We are open and proud about it,” he said.

Stutts said if Sen. Sanders were to become the Democratic nominee, he believes President Donald Trump would have an easier path to reelection.

According to Stutts, their goal is to get South Carolina to switch to closed primaries. He said, “Primaries are a selection process. It’s not until November we actually have an election. There’s a difference between the selection process which should be done by the Republicans and the Democrats.”

Over at the State House today, the discussion of closing primaries took center stage. A Senate Judiciary Subcommittee took up two pieces of legislation that would change primaries in the state.

I Dont See That Happening

Ultimately, she hopes that the crossover vote push will cause South Carolina Democrats the same kind of angst that weve had for years and push them toward closing their primary.

I do not think it was a result of our efforts, even if we were as successful mathematically as we could be, that everyones going to agree to close the primaries tomorrow, she told me, but said coverage of their efforts was already getting traction with Democrats in the fight for closed primaries.

I asked whether Martin was concerned that a Sanders primary victory in South Carolina pushed by Republican crossover voters could ultimately result in a Sanders presidency. She took my point, but said, I dont see that happening.

The Iowa caucuses, she said, showed that the people that make the rules in the Democrat party are not going to allow Bernie to be the nominee. Citing debate rule changes and recent remarks by Democratic Party stalwarts like James Carville, she said that there was no way the party would permit Sanders to win the nomination.

The rule makers in the Democrat party are not going to let him be the nominee, so that is not a concern for us.

Greenville County tea party leader Pressley Stutts said he is hoping;Trump will back his “Operation Chaos” effort calling for South Carolina Republican voters to cast ballots for U.S. Sen. Bernie Sanders of Vermont.

“In my opinion;a;vote for Bernie in South Carolina is a vote for Donald Trump because there’s such a stark contrast between his socialistic communistic tendencies versus Trump’s capitalism,” Stutts said.

Stutts and other Trump supporters who gathered at a restaurant in Columbia appeared Wednesday on “Fox and Friends,” a morning program that the president is known to watch.

Hubert Church 66

Mr. Hubert Ray Church age 66 of Purlear, passed away, Friday, December 6, 2019 at his home.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM, Thursday, December 12, 2019 at Yellow Hill Baptist Church with Rev. Sherrill Welborn, Rev. Kenny Newberry and Pastor Brady Hayworth officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 Wednesday evening at Reins Sturdivant Funeral Home.

Mr. Church was born September 1, 1953 in Wilkes County to Paige and Agnas Fletcher Church. He was a retired Truck Driver for DOT and a member of Yellow Hill Baptist Church. Hurbert loved to make people laugh.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brother; Ronnie Church.

Mr. Church is survived by his wife; Joan Rhymer Church of the home, a daughter; Patricia Church of Deep Gap, a son; Darin Church of Deep Gap, two grandchildren; Tyler Church and Samantha Church, a sister; Linda Steelman and husband Eddie of Deep Gap and a brother: Bruce Church and wife LouAnn of Deep Gap.

Marilyn Francis Key Hunter, age 74, of North Wilkesboro, passed away Friday, December 6, 2019 at Wake Forest Baptist Health-Wilkes Regional. Ms. Hunter was born December 5, 1945 in Wilkes County to Vernon Edward and E. Faye Elledge Key. Ms. Hunter was a member of Bethel Baptist Church in the Mtn. View Community. She was of the Baptist Faith, attended His Light Ministries and enjoyed services at Villages of Wilkes. Marilyn was a loving, sweet and kind person. She loved animals, cats and dogs. She enjoyed watching birds, especially hummingbirds when they were eating. Ms. Hunter was preceded in death by her parents; infant sister, Barbara Jean Key, sister, Arlene Key Niston, Margaret Ann Byrd; brother, Kenneth David Key; brother-in-law's, John Willard Niston, Ronnie J. Pruitt; and nephews, Russell Hawkins and Daniel Byrd.

Surviving are her brother, Vaughn Key and spouse Incha of North Wilkesboro; sisters, Irene Blevins and spouse Hubert of Wilkesboro, Janice Hawkins and spouse Steve of Hays, Rita Pruitt of North Wilkesboro; many loving nieces and nephews.

Margaret Richardson, 73

Margaret Porter Richardson, age 73, of Wilkesboro, passed away peacefully into the arms of the Lord, on Friday, December 6, 2019 at her home. Margaret was born November 26, 1946 in Wilkes County to Granville and Lillian Dowell Porter. She worked at Villages of Wilkes for the past 11 years. She loved her residents very much. She loved taking them out to eat, painting fingernails and helping in any way she could to bring joy to their lives. Margaret loved fishing, she made many friends on the fishing pier in Myrtle Beach, where we are sure she will be missed by all who knew her. Margaret also loved working along side her husband, Jim in the garden. Mrs. Richardson was preceded in death by her parents; and husband who died in 1987, Gary Lee Billings.

Surviving are her loving husband, James (Jim) Richardson; sons, Russell Billings and spouse Pam of Traphill, David Billings and Michele Riddle of Purlear; sisters, Reba Johnson and spouse Claude of North Wilkesboro, Nancy Reavis and spouse Jerry of Rock Creek, Betty Ferguson and spouse Wayne of North Wilkesboro; grandsons, Justin Billings and Russell Billings.

Anne Kite, 102

Mrs. Anne Dulce Goode Kite, age 102 of Millers Creek, passed away Thursday, December 5, 2019 at her home.

Memorial services will be held 11:00 am Thursday, December 12, 2019 at North Wilkesboro Presbyterian Church with Rev. R.C. Griffin and Rev. Steve Snipes officiating. A reception will follow in the church fellowship hall. Private family burial services will be held.

Mrs. Kite was born May 14, 1917 in Martinsville, VA, to the late John Letcher Goode and Lucy Davis Goode Draper. She was a member of North Wilkesboro Presbyterian Church and Vanguard Class. She had been the keeper of the Cradle Roll for over 25 years. Mrs. Kite was a charter member of Wilkes Regional Hospital Auxiliary and also a member of the Friday Book Club. She loved the Blue Ridge Parkway, butterflies and welcoming guests to the Dodge House Restaurant. She was a great cook and well known for her pies.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband: Robert Francis Kite, two brothers: Ray Goode and John L. Goode and a son in law: David Eller.

She is survived by two daughters: Susan Kite Eller of Greenville, SC and Betsey Kite O'Neill and husband Jack of Virginia Beach VA, five grandchildren: Cynthia Booke, Mark Eller, Robert Eller, John O'Neill and Kelly Ogle and ten great grandchildren: David and Lauren Booke, Samantha and Sydney Eller, Archie, Trevor, Ben O'Neill, Cameron and Connor Eller and Lucy and Avery Ogle.

William Grimstead, 65

Mr. William Michael Grimstead, age 65 of Cornelius, passed away Wednesday, December 4, 2019 at his home.

Funeral services were December 10, at Reins Sturdivant Chapel with Pastor Robert Duncan and Rev. Eddie Tharpe officiating. Burial was in Scenic Memorial Gardens. Mr. Grimstead was born May 18, 1954 in Boone, North Carolina to Donald Ray and Shirley Payne Grimstead. He was a Longtime Professional Airline Pilot. Mike graduated from Wilkes Central High School and Florida Institute of Technology Aviation Program. He was a flight instructor, ground instructor. glider pilot, seaplane pilot and corporate pilot. He retired from American Airlines as an Airline Pilot. Mr. Grimstead was a member of Oakwood's Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Mr. Grimstead is survived by his wife; Sherree Grimstead and two cousins; Susan Clements and husband James of Bartow, FL and Cindy Hudson and husband Rick of Hickory.

Mrs. Margaret Hayes Dotson, age 85 of Wilkes County passed away Wednesday, December 4, 2019 at Memory Care of the Triad.

Funeral services were December 7, at Reins-Sturdivant Chapel. Burial was in Lewis Baptist Church Cemetery. Mrs. Dotson was born July 29, 1934 in Wilkes County to Robert Doughton and Gena Souther Hayes. She was a care giver for all of her family, an avid reader and loved the outdoors. She retired from Thomasville Furniture in the cabinet department.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

She is survived by two daughters; Wanda Dotson, Dino of Bluffton, SC and Donna Wicker, Bruce of Reidsville, three grandchildren; Courtney Jansen and husband Stephen, Logan Nichols and Hayden Wicker, two great grandchildren; Porter Jansen and Hadley Jansen, four sisters; Sylvia Boles of Winston-Salem, Joan Dotson of North Wilkesboro, Jane Brooks of Salisbury, Jewel "Judy" Sheppard of Mt. Mr. Stephen (Steve) DeLane Vannoy, 73, of Carthage, passed away on Wednesday December 4, 2019 at Moore Regional Hospital.

Steve was born on Monday July 8, 1946 in Rowan County to Swan Aline Vannoy.

Steve is preceded in death by his mother and step father Don Royal.

John Caudill, 65

Mr. John "Tom" Thomas Caudill, 65, of Advance passed away Wednesday, December 4, 2019.

He was born in Wilkes County on August 19, 1954, to John Alvin and Libby Walsh Caudill. Tom was a member of Pinedale Christian Church for the past thirty-one years. He received his MBA from Appalachian State University. Tom owned and operated Auto Financial of NC until his retirement. He was an avid train enthusiast, traveler, and enjoyed doing things for other people without their knowledge. Tom was an Eagle Scout and avid outdoorsman. Following in his father's footsteps, he loved to hike and explore the Blue Ridge Mountains. He ran many marathons and achieved his goal of running a sub - three hour race on his last attempt. Tom was Gloria's Superman.

Preceding him in death is his mother and a brother, Alex Caudill. Left to cherish his memory is his loving and skinny wife, Gloria F. Caudill; son, Jonathan Caudill and Tyler of Washington, D.C.; father, John Alvin Caudill and wife Frances of North Wilkesboro; a brother, Charles Caudill of Wilkesboro; and his beloved birds.

A memorial service was held 2:00 PM Saturday, December 7, 2019, at Pinedale Christian Church, officiated by Ministers Bill McKenzie and Matthew Sink.

Mrs. Cynthia Reeves Shipton, age 74 of North Wilkesboro passed away Tuesday, December 3, 2019 at Wake Forest Baptist-Wilkes Medical Center.

Ronald Hamby, 70

Mr. Ronald "Ron" Lee Hamby, age 70 of Purlear passed away Tuesday, December 3, 2019 at his home.

Funeral services were December 5, at Millers Creek Baptist Church with Rev. Shannon Critcher and Rev. Phillip Boyce officiating. Burial was in Stony Hill Baptist Church Cemetery.

Mr. Hamby was born January 8, 1949 in Wilkes County to Woodrow Wilson and Vergie Mae Powell Hamby. He was a member of Millers Creek Baptist Church and a member of the Slant 6 Racing Club.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a sister; Diane Hamby.

Lura Grimes, 95

Miss Lura Mae Grimes, age 95 of Wilkesboro, passed away Monday, December 2, 2019 at her home.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Sunday, December 8, 2019, at Rickards Chapel with Rev. Richard Watts, Bishop George Morgan and Rev. Keith D. Knox, Sr. officiating. Burial was in Rickards Chapel Cemetery.

Miss Grimes was born August 22, 1924 in Wilkes County to Fred Vernon and Ethel Vyra Barber Grimes. She retired as a Telephone Operator with NY Bell (AT&T), having worked from the 1940s until the 1970s. She was a member of Rickards Chapel and the Mother of the church. Lura was an active member of the Roots of Love and was very involved in the Lincoln Heights Community. She was a local history enthusiast, loved to travel and was just a phenomenal person with a sharp mind as well as the matriarch of her family.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three sisters; Mary Louise Anderson, Violet Mackay and Vera Jane Grimes, four brothers; Grover Columbus Grimes, Glenn Alvin Grimes, Fred Earl Grimes and Everett Lee Grimes.

She is survived by two sisters; Reba Williams of Queens, NY and Elizabeth W. Hubbard of Buffalo NY and a host of other relatives and friends.

Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Rickards Chapel PO Box 1689 North Wilkesboro, NC 28659.

Thomas Hampton, 64

Thomas Odell Hampton, age 64, of Roaring River, passed away Monday, December 2, 2019 at Wake Forest Baptist Health-Wilkes Regional. He was born January 29, 1955 in Surry County to Cornelius and Willie Parker Hampton. Mr. Hampton was a member of Mt. Valley Missionary Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Olga Sales Hampton; brothers, William Parker, James Hampton, McNeil Hampton; and sister, Mary Redman.

Surviving are his son, Scott Satterwhite and spouse Barbara of Hudson; daughter, Tina Lineberger and spouse Ruben of Roaring River; siblings, Luthedia Jones, Worth Hampton and spouse Angela all of North Wilkesboro, Sally Scales of Jonesville, Ronnie Hampton, Jennie Wilborn and spouse Timmy, Sylvia Hernandez and spouse Filemon all of Roaring River; grandchildren, Izaiah Carlton, Jaylin Richardson, Dalton Stepps, Dathan Holsclaw, LaShae Holsclaw, Sovereign Satterwhite, Christian Satterwhite, Quincy Lineberger, Keyonta Lineberger several nieces and nephews.

Funeral service was December 6, at Mt. Valley Missionary Baptist Church in Roaring River with Rev. Casey Walker, Rev. Calvin Bryant, Bishop Ruben Lineberger and Rev. Ernest Martin officiating. Burial followed in the Church Cemetery. Flowers will be accepted. Miller Funeral Service is in charge of the arrangements.

Gary Hamby 70

Mr. Gary Van Hamby age 70 of Millers Creek, passed away Monday, December 2, 2019.

Funeral services were December 7, at Calvary Baptist Church with Pastor Mark J. Hall and Pastor Steve Laws officiating. Burial with Military Honors by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1142 was in the church cemetery.

Mr. Hamby was born January 11, 1949 in Wilkes County to Edgar Jones Hamby, Jr and wife Brona Rae Staley Hamby. Gary served in the US Army during the Vietnam Conflict from 69-70, where he reached the rank of E5 Sergeant. He retired from Holly Farms/Tyson Foods as Plant Superintendent with 37 years of service and was the owner of Hamby Auto Broker. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church. Gary was a devoted Husband, Daddy, (Best Friend) and Pa.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother; Ronnie Hamby.

Mr. Hamby is survived by his wife of 50 plus years; Judy Kay Minton Hamby of the home, a son; Chad Van Hamby and wife Amanda of Wilkesboro, two granddaughters; Ella Grace Hamby and Addison Layne Hamby, three brothers; Rayvon Hamby of Millers Creek, Kevin Hamby and wife Kathy of Millers Creek and Steve Hamby and wife Geraldine of Statesville and "good friend' Larry Dale Ross.

Richard Greene 64

Mr. Richard Edward Greene age 64 of Wilkesboro, passed away in Mt. Airy.

Private family services will be held. Burial will be in the Barnes Family Cemetery in Churchland, North Carolina.

Mr. Greene was born August 22, 1955 in Charlotte, North Carolina to Edward Franklin Greene and Frances Curlee Greene. He was a member of Community Baptist Church.

In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by a sister; Katherine Ann Greene.

He is survived by his mother; Frances Curlee Greene of North Wilkesboro, a brother; Stephen Greene and wife Vanya of Wilkesboro, a niece; Lindsay Greene of Raleigh and three nephews; Matthew Greene of Sarasota FL, Trevor Greene of Wilkesboro and Trenton Greene of Wilkesboro.

Ernest J. Driggers, 78, of Cowpens, SC, died Sunday, May 12, 2019, at his home. Born December 28, 1940, in Moncks Corner, SC, he was the son of the late Sidney Arnold Driggers and Mercedes Huff Driggers. He retired from the U. S. Navy having served as an aircraft mechanic for the Blue Angels. PGA TOUR Superstore’s New Hilton Head Experiential Golf Retail Store Opens April 1 Grand Opening Includes $30,000 in giveaways and $15,000 to The First Tee of The LowCountry

ATLANTA, GA (March 28, 2017) – PGA TOUR Superstore is ushering in a new experience for Hilton Head /Bluffton area golfers and tennis enthusiasts with an April 1 at 9:00 am grand opening of its first interactive retail store, the largest golf and tennis store in the area. The 25,000 square foot location is at 1129 Fording Island Road Bluffton, SC 29910, near the Home Depot at the intersection of U.S. 278 and Burnt Church Road and will be an anchor in the Bluffton Crossing shopping center.

Hilton Head marks the company’s 29th store in the U.S. and the third location in South Carolina (joining Myrtle Beach and North Myrtle Beach locations). The grand opening celebration includes $30,000 in product giveaways to the first customers in line and a $15,000 donation that will benefit area youth golfers through The First Tee of The LowCountry.

One (part time) Lowcountry resident is especially pleased PGA TOUR Superstore is coming to town.

PGA TOUR Superstore’s new location will employ up to 25 associates including “certified teaching professionals,” and will include four interactive simulators; practice hitting bays, an expansive 1,100 square foot putting green and an in-house club-making and repair facility to provide a unique, interactive experience to golf enthusiasts of all levels. In addition the store will offer 4,000 square feet of soft goods, 3,500 square feet of hard goods and 2,000 square feet of footwear.

For tennis enthusiasts, the locale offers the top tennis brands and a variety of equipment from racquets and shoes to apparel. Certified professional stringers are also in store to fit you with the racquet, string, string tension and grip size that best suits your game.

The Hilton Head PGA TOUR Superstore grand opening event will take place April 1 with doors opening 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. and include $30,000 in giveaways to the first people in line, putting contests and swing evaluations. Insider Interview: Laura Petree

I am thrilled to welcome Laura Petree to the blog! Laura moved to Bluffton, SC in December of 2011, knowing no one. Faith landed her in this beautiful place and she met her husband and business partner Don in May of 2012. Laura and Don are very much alike in their drive and ambition, but they each have a unique skill set. Laura has a sales and small business management background, while Don has a hands on, problem solving background.

Laura and Don started talking about building a rental portfolio and this would be a great fit for their collective strengths. The pair stumbled around the real estate market with no success until they received an opportune phone call from Homevestors®.

Now, almost 2 years later, this dynamic duo has bought and sold 18 houses – and they are just getting started. Read on for insight into their business process and how they have found success with real estate investing. Laura, thank you for taking the time to join us for an Insider Interview!

When and how did you find HomeVestors®?

Actually, Homevestors® found me. Terry Dermerast found my resume on Career Builders and called to tell me about Homevestors in October of 2014. My husband, Don, and I were a bit skeptical, so we really did our research. Luckily, HomeVestors® was very helpful and transparent in our search to understand the opportunity. We called several current and retired franchises for firsthand information about the company.

The consistency of the answers and the real life experience of franchisees assured us that we were being told the truth about HVA. We bought our HomeVestors® business in March of 2015. Shortly after, in April of 2015, we traveled to Dallas for our training. We bought and sold our first house in June of 2015. The support and help we had from our Development Agents was a life saver.

What element of HomeVestors® “sold you” on becoming a franchisee?

As novice real estate investors, the fail proof system that HomeVestors® uses and teaches gave us the confidence we needed. We knew that by working hard and sticking to the HVA system, we could do this.

Which real estate investing strategy (wholesale, rehab, rental) do you enjoy the most?

With my husband’s building and fixing skills and my experience in many aspects of home improvement, we love to rehab houses. We take great pride in turning ugly houses into beautiful homes on a tight budget. Our understanding of which improvements yield the greatest ROI and which don’t is a great help. HomeVestors® teaches us to be balanced on our strategy. To achieve this balance, we complete a few rehabs a year, several wholesales for cash flow, and a few rentals for long term income. It is working very well for us.

How does it help you reach your business goals?

Our love of rehabbing would get us into great trouble without the counseling of our Development Agents to build our buyers list and WHOLESALE, WHOLESALE, WHOLESALE in order to maintain a steady cash flow. The HomeVestors® system really does work!

What is the greatest challenge you have faced as a franchisee and how did you overcome it?

My impatience is my greatest challenge. I want to know everything yesterday. The national conventions and regional training events are vital to keeping us on track. Talking in person to a variety of people at various stages in their business several times a years keeps the “head trash” and negative thinking to a minimum.

Can you explain your experience with the coaching and mentoring you receive from HomeVestors®?

Yes, this has been extremely helpful. There are a variety of ways to get the answers to your questions. We have an online KNOWLEDGE BASE that is searchable. We can find in depth answers to most any question 24/7. Our Development Agents are available by phone or by text 7 days a week. Their willingness to help and their constant positive, real life insight is amazingly valuable.

There are also several Facebook pages that we can use to pose our questions to the other franchises across the nation…for example we recently asked, “what is the best way to handle a buckled concrete driveway?” The company website is also full of every bit of information you can imagine.

What is your favorite thing about the Savannah and Hilton Head real estate markets?

Savannah is FULL of ugly houses. It is a great pleasure to know we are cleaning up neighborhoods one house at a time. It is always amazing to see how when you clean up the one ugly house on a street, the neighbors jump into action to clean up their curb appeal too.

How does your local real estate market influence your business strategy?

As a woman doing all the buy calls, I am very aware of staying in the “bulls eye” neighborhoods. There are several parts of Savannah where it is just not safe for me to go to for buy calls. The HomeVestors® strategy of staying in the right places with the greatest ROI has keep us on target and much more profitable.

If you could give one piece of advice to a novice real estate investor, what would it be?

FOLLOW THE SYSTEM and follow the advice from your advisors. It works when you work it.
