S.V - Ep. 9: Fight On At All Costs

EXT. UNITED KINGDOM – Airspace - DAY

---------------------------------------------------------- Caption: 12:00 Noon – London Time Zero flies at swift speeds amidst the sky. SIGNAS: (o.s, filtered) Emergency! Dynamo has come back here to attack! What on Earth does he want?! -pan inside his cockpit- Zero stares at his receiver in awe. ZERO: (reacting) WHAT!? What the Hell is he doing, back? SIGNAS: (o.s, filtered, retorting) Well it doesn’t matter, we have to fight him! X is engaging him, now. ZERO: Oh man… and I’m hours from home!! Damn it!!! (v.o, thinking) X… You gotta handle this… -cut to-

---------------------------------------------------------- EXT. NEW MHHQ – Space Shuttle Dock - NIGHT ---------------------------------------------------------- Caption: 4:00 AM – Hexagon Time X clenches his fists as he stares at the smug Dynamo, who has just crushed Freeze Alopex. DYNAMO: Hey there, you’re X right? Nice to meet you. Did you guys miss me? He steps off of her neck and walks toward him. X: (annoyed) rr.. Stop pestering us, Dynamo! What do you want? DYNAMO: I told the other guy. I want to disturb you. That, is my mission. It may not seem it, but this is my job. And since you guys are always so serious, I’m a little serious too, this time.. okay? X gives him a confused look, then shakes it off into a grimace again. DYNAMO: (smirking) Ready to die? [Insert Title Card – Fight On At All Costs]

X: …No…

X quickly inserts a sub-tank into his stomach, which cleans the scuff marks off of his armor and face. He dashes back and charges up.

X: Hyuu/ah!

X shoots a level 3 charge shot at Dynamo, who easily high-jumps over it and comes after him with a pink blade.

X: Ah!

He narrowly dashes below and away from it as Dynamo passes him on the other side.

When Dynamo lands, he turns around and smirks at X.

DYNAMO: Heheheh... Learned a few of my tricks, I see...

X backs up and quickly /takes level 1 shots at Dynamo.

X: /Hmph!

Dynamo grins as he puts an arm up and takes the hits.

DYNAMO: Hehehehe, you’re kidding, right?

He holds out an open palm and charges up a dark power ball of energy.

DYNAMO: TRY THIS!!!

He pounds the energy ball into the ground, which causes five streams of dark light to rise up from the ground.

X: /Ahhh!!!!

X gets caught by the blast and holds onto his chest, panting.

DYNAMO: Haha/!

He summons another wave of light to rise from directly below X.

X: /AGH!!!

He dashes mid-blast, but still gets caught in the crossfire.

DYNAMO: HAHA!!/

He summons a final wave, closer to his own vicinity, where X has landed. X rolls out of the way and watches the power waves dissipate into the sky in fear.

X: (v.o, thinking) Haw man! This guy is gonna kill me if I’m not careful!!

SIGMA: (v.o, responding) Yeeees, he iiiis…

X’s eyes become even wider as Dynamo dashes over to him.

DYNAMO: Aww, what’s the matter? Lost your nerve!?

X gets up and blocks a blade attack by grabbing Dynamo’s hand.

X: No! ..damn it.. I won’t let you.. Win!

DYNAMO: (grinning) Hm.

He makes a buster with his other hand and /shoots him in the ribs at close range.

X: /Ogh!

He doubles back and falls to one knee.

ALIA: (frightened, desperate) X, try the new chip!!

X nods and takes out the wing spiral chip from his compartment belt. He quickly inserts it into his buster as Dynamo jumps after him. Suddenly his base armor morphs into white and yellow.

DYNAMO: Hm?

X uppercuts the intruder, which unleashes his new spiraling wind attack.

DYNAMO: /Whuuooooh!!

The tornado throws Dynamo high into the air, and makes him plummet down helplessly onto the scaffolding.

DYNAMO: Aughh.

X: Hmph. Looks like that worked.

Dynamo looks up at X, amused as he gets up.

DYNAMO: Ohhh, we’re just getting started, big boy.

X: Hm?

Dynamo charges up an open palm again and slams it down against the scaffolding.

X: Oh No!!

He jumps away and instinctively forms his Falcon Armor, once airborne.

Surprised at his own reflexes, X quickly charges up and shoots a piercing laser at Dynamo, who rises another set of beams towards X.

X: /Gaahhh!!!

X gets struck by the blast and falls to the ground near Dynamo.

ALIA: (worried) EeeeeeX!!!!!

When X lands, he shoots another wing spiral, which shoves Dynamo into the wall.

X gets back up on one knee again and switches to C-Shot.

X: Stay out of our Base, Dynamo!

X rapidly fires crescent slashing shots at Dynamo, which seem to chip away at his armor pretty well.

DYNAMO: (hurting) Uuughh. Hahahah! But why??

He swiftly spins a double-sided blade fully around with his wrist, making it serve as a shield.

X stops shooting as the C-Shots deflect off of Dynamo’s defense.

DYNAMO: We’re having so much /Fun!!!!!

He throws the double-sided blade at X, who dodges it. It comes back around like a boomerang and /slices him in the back on the way back to Dynamo’s hand.

X: /AAhhh!!! Damn.. you…

DYNAMO: Hahahah!!!

He high jumps after X to capitalize on the punishment with his blade.

X dashes away, dodging the swing.

X: How’d you even find us?

He shoots a charge shot.

DYNAMO: It’s no secret. /Agh. Sigma sent me!

He summons his wave attack once again.

X: What!?

X’s eyes widen as Dynamo’s attacks near him.

He /evades as best as possible as the attack starts to become predictable.

DYNAMO: That’s right! / He /Hired me to get in your way, and /Trip you guys up.

X anticipates his next two moves, by //dash-jumping in the opposite direction once Dynamo’s palm hits the ground. After advancing and effectively retreating from the following blasts, X takes his moment to hit Dynamo with some quick level 2 charge shots//.

X: /…You…/ Pest!

He flies toward his opponent.

DYNAMO: Hmhmhm!

He high jumps to X and takes another swing from his blade.

X narrows them and pushes another Wing Spiral uppercut into Dynamo’s chest.

DYNAMO: Whaaaaa!!! Come on, Man!!

X flies into him and punches him in the gut, in mid-air. Then he grabs him by the neck.

X: You think this is a GAME!!? HUH???

The smile on Dynamo’s face could not be bigger.

DYNAMO: Hahahahahh…

X’s face scrunches up as he uses his left hand to punch Dynamo in the head a few times.

X: You think you can just come in here and mess with us??? You just killed my Friend! And for what?!? For a little FUN!!!????

DYNAMO: Y-y-yeeah…

Irate, he throws Dynamo to the ground and fires another piercing charge shot at him.

After sinking into the scaffolding, Dynamo raises a hand for mercy.

DYNAMO: (hurt, conceding) Ogh… She wasn’t the target.. Just in the way…

X: I DON’T CARE!! YOU’RE IN MY WAY NOW. AND I HAVE TO SAVE THE WORLD!!!!

At close range, X activates his Falcon Armor’s Giga Attack.

Streams of his piercing charge shot rise from the ground and rain down on him within their vicinity.

Holes are blown through Dynamo’s armor as his circuits start to sizzle.

DYNAMO: (hurt, shocked) Hooouuuuggghhh!!!!! …So… You ARE strong… I fought.. seriously this time… Agh..

He pulls back and huddles into himself, in pain. Then, he surprisingly maintains his composure and manages to stand upright.

DYNAMO: (damaged) ..Anyway… I’d need 9 lives if I stuck with you… So… I’ll take my leave. No more games.

X lets out a breath and lowers his guard.

DYNAMO: You should think about your future, too or… you’ll die someday… I’m getting out of here, because I want to live.

He lets out another friendly smile, just as he did with Zero, before.

DYNAMO: Adios!

He teleports away, leaving X to wonder if they’ll ever see him again.

X: Dynamo…

He looks up and watches his trail disappear into the early morning darkness.

EXT. ABEL CITY – Trailer Park Complex – NIGHT

------------------------------------------------------------------ Caption: 4:30 AM We pan down from the dark sky to see a small Trailer amongst a community of quiet mobile homes. While everyone else is sleeping, the windows from this Trailer sporadically spark of electricity as the sounds of drills and metal work can be heard through the night. We zoom in closer to the humble Trailer Home.

TRAILER LAB – Gate’s Work Space - NIGHT ------------------------------------------------------------------ Gate and Isoc are working together on rebuilding his creations. Resting offline are the shells of Blizzard Wolfang, Blaze Phoenix and Infinity Flea. They are currently working on replicating Commander Yammark’s design from Gate’s 3D Blue Prints. Suddenly Isoc’s chest beeps twice with a blinking red light. GATE: (distracted) Hm? ISOC: Oh, excuse me, Gate. I have to take this call. Gate nods and turns back to his design with a smile. -pan to-

TRAILER LAB – Trailer Park Complex – NIGHT ------------------------------------------------------------------ Isoc steps outside and slowly walks away from Gate’s Trailer as he takes the com-link. ISOC: (soft, discreet) What is it? SIGMA: (o.s, filtered) The Assassin failed. ISOC: (gasping) ..Is he dead? SIGMA: (o.s, filtered) No… But I just might finish the job. ISOC: No need, sire. My associate is coming around. SIGMA: (o.s, filtered) Hmph… He’s the one you originally wanted to hire, right? ISOC: Yes. Ever since our plan has been televised, he stirred into a panic. He asked for my help to rebuild his reploids. SIGMA: Hm!? For what?? ISOC: He hopes to survive this and rebuild a society of Elite Reploids. SIGMA: (o.s, filtered) Hmm, that’s interesting... They might factor into my plan after all. I like that you are thinking ahead. Thank you for your assistance as always, Doctor. Isoc’s eyes twinkle from the reflection in the moonlight as he grins. ------------------------------------------------------------------ From afar, Zero’s aircraft zooms through the skies. -pan inside his cockpit- Zero flies on with an uneasy glare in his eyes. After a little while, his dashboard receives a com-link. ALIA: (o.s, filtered) Zero, this is Alia. Come in. ZERO: (gasping) Alia! What’s up?? ALIA: (o.s, filtered) ..Dynamo attacked us again, but.. We're okay... Most of us, anyway. ZERO: Is X, alright? ALIA: (o.s, filtered) He’ll be fine. He just needs to rest for now. How are you? ZERO: Uhh.. I’m alright. But Rho & Frenzy are uh... ALIA: (o.s, filtered) ...Ally, too. ZERO: (shocked) Freeze Alopex is gone??? ALIA: (o.s, filtered) Dynamo killed her the moment he got here. ZERO: That Bastard!! ALIA: (o.s, filtered) I know. Frostbite ran away... It’s terrible... but now we have to focus on our next move. ZERO: (nodding) Yeah. ALIA: (o.s, filtered) I’m analyzing the specs on your Aircraft. If you can push that thing to Mach 10, you should be able to get here in an hour. ZERO: (shocked) I can do that?? ALIA: (o.s, filtered) Well, it’ll take a bit of hacking, but that’s why I’m here. ZERO: Whoa, Alia. You’re amazing!! -pan to-

NEW MMHQ – R & D Lab – NIGHT ------------------------------------------------------------------ Alia beams at her computer screen. ALIA: (responding, pleased) I know. Now, sit tight and let me work my magic. If I can upload the enhancement data remotely, you should be here in no time! ZERO: (o.s, filtered) Heheh.. Okay! -pan further away, and into the room- Around her is a series of lab scientists, researchers and technicians that have been rescued by X and Zero. They are all eagerly working with Douglas and studying plans for the Space Shuttle. ALIA: Alright, guys! We’ve got some work to do. Who wants to help me remote-hack into a Repliforce Aircraft? The former Repliforce Technicians in the room raise their eyebrows, surprised and rush over to her. TECHNICIAN 1: We built those things! We can help. ALIA: Alriiiiight! -pan over to Douglas and a few Scientists- Douglas concentrates as he puts the finishing touches on a new chip and looks over to his new colleagues. DOUGLAS: The new parts are almost ready! These will really help X out. ALIA: Now we’re talking!! -cut to-

NEW MHHQ – Infirmary – NIGHT ------------------------------------------------------------------ X is sitting up in bed, with tubes attached to his arm and chest, while Lifesaver studies his body’s contamination levels. On the monitors, everything is evened out. Despite the tremendous pressure X is under, his neuros are calm. LIFESAVER PRIME: Okay, X. All of your systems look good. You just need some good old-fashioned rest. X nods and gets up. X: Unfortunately, I don’t really have time for that. Lifesaver puts a firmer hand on his shoulder. LIFESAVER PRIME: Energen IVs and Sub-tanks will only go so far. Give it an hour, okay? X: But... we’re running out of/- LIFESAVER PRIME: /Sleep, X. He /forces a needle into his neck. X: (weary, fainting) Tiiiiiiime... He falls back into the bed. -fade out- -slow fade in- ZERO: (o.s, echoing) What the Hell?? -blurry winks bring us into focus- Zero can be seen, pointing a finger at Lifesaver. LIFESAVER PRIME: He wouldn’t rest. I gave him something to ease the pain. ZERO: What are you doing!? We have 4 Hours!! Just give him my Sub-Tank!! LIFESAVER PRIME: That won’t be enough! And I need to look at you, too. ZERO: Don’t touch me, Doc. /Here!! As the blurry red figure gets closer, a pressurized swell of energy is /injected into his sub-system. Jolted with energy, X rises, becoming more awake and aware of his surroundings. X: (weak, groggy) H-hey, what gives? Is that you, Zero?? He rubs his eyes, before getting up as Zero comes into focus. ZERO: Yeah. I just got here! Caption: 5:45 AM LIFESAVER PRIME: X! You shouldn’t be up yet. ZERO: What is this? Are you TRYING to mess up this Op? We gotta get back out there. LIFESAVER PRIME: I understand, but I need you both, Alive!! If either of you keep substituting artificial energy as a life force, you’re going to burn out at the worst possible moment. I don’t want that for either of you!! ZERO: Well that’s a risk, we’re just gonna have to take. X gets up. X: (tired) I’m fine... We’ll all be dead soon if we don’t finish that Shuttle. ZERO: We have 4 Hours!!!! X: (urgent) Then we’d better move... -pan to-

NEW MHHQ – Hallways – DAY ------------------------------------------------------------------ The two worn-out heroes walk through the halls once again for another round in the field. They both share a stoic frown as they look ahead. ZERO: Man, that was really screwed up... X: He thought he was helping... Zero shakes his head. ZERO: Not cool... X: Yeah... Thanks for the Sub-tank... ZERO: Of course, man. They continue to walk in silence. ZERO: Listen, uh.. I’m sorry for blowing up before about Repliforce. X: (exhausted, passive aggressive) You did what you had to do... And this time they actually went Maverick, so. Good job, I guess... Zero looks down at X, taken aback. ZERO: Ya know what? Screw you, man. He runs ahead and doesn’t look back. X frowns with an annoyed glare as he watches Zero run off. His brow tightens into a scowl as he cricks his neck and sinks to his level. X: Yeah? Well, Good luck out there! I bet you can’t wait to finish them off! -pan to Zero- He just winces with tightly closed eyes as he continues to run away from X. -pan back to X- X passes by the R & D Lab with a mug on his face. ALIA: (o.s, calling out) X!! He stops short. X: Hmm? ALIA: (o.s) Come here! - pan to –

------------------------------------------------------------------ INT. NEW MHHQ – R & D Lab - DAY ------------------------------------------------------------------ He steps inside the R & D Lab, surprised at all the people inside. X: (humbled, focused) I.. don’t have much time. ALIA: I know. We just wanted to give you this. She tosses him a new enhancement chip. X: What’s this? ALIA: It’s a Virus Buster. Now you can blast Sigma’s stupid face away next time he tries to haunt you. X: (shocked, happy) Whaaaaat? How!?? ALIA: We analyzed Sigma’s Virus data the moment he tried to interface with your systems. Lifesaver was wary and wanted to study you as long as possible, but we’re just glad you’re okay! X: Oh, my God! /Thank you!! In an instant he /hugs her out of sheer gratitude. She immediately /blushes in his arms. ALIA: Ah/huhh.. You’re welcome! When they disembark her flushed cheeks regain their original color. X: I gotta go. You rule. Later guys! RESCUED REPLOIDS: Byyye! DOUGLAS: Bye, X. Douglas frowns as X runs out of the room. Alia keeps grinning as she looks at her new colleagues. Then, she nods to Douglas. ALIA: What’s got you all bummed out? DOUGLAS: We didn’t get to show him the Speedster chip. Alia just looks at Douglas and laughs. ALIA: Hahahahaha! DOUGLAS: (offended) Heeeey, I worked hard on that! ALIA: We can always beam it to him, silly… -cut to-

NEW MHHQ – Control Room - DAY ------------------------------------------------------------------ Zero teleports away the moment X gets inside the room. X: Alright everybody. This is it! SIGNAS: Good Luck out there, X! I believe in you. X: (smiling) Thanks, boss. He walks over to a teleporter and is taken to Axle the Red’s location.

UKRANIAN JUNGLE – Rose-covered Fence - DAY ------------------------------------------------------------------ Caption: 3:50 PM – Ukraine Time. As the sun sets in the Ukranian Jungle, X teleports onto the unnatural, metal ground. He lands near a barbed-wire fence that is covered in vines and delicate roses. ALIA: (o.s, filtered) The secret Repliforce base that is hidden deep in the jungle has become infested with Mavericks. X: Wait. This place is Repliforce!? ALIA: (o.s, filtered) Yep. I bet if you go a little deeper in the jungle, you'll find the Orbiter Engine. X's eyes widen. X: How deep did their secrets go...? -cut to-

KENYA – Sunhouse Mountain - DAY ------------------------------------------------------------------ Caption: 4:50 PM – Kenya Time. Zero stands tall by a large well, which provides the entrance to a hidden volcano underground. ZERO: This it... Sunhouse Mountain. This is where it all started. Zero clenches his fists as he remembers how different everything was 3 years ago. -FLASH-

--------------------------------------------------------------------------- X and Zero walk in to Dr. Cain’s Lab. Magma Dragoon is sitting at Dr. Cain’s Mother Computer, waiting for them. MAGMA DRAGOON: Hey guys… X: You wanted to show us something?? MAGMA DRAGOON: Yeah.. -flash- MAGMA DRAGOON: I’m under the impression that Dr. Cain was about to conduct an internal investigation of the Repliforce and that he wanted your teams to do it. -flash- MAGMA DRAGOON: ...I’m going to volunteer my Team to investigate this case. There’s got to be something more going on here that we just can’t see at the moment. And I’ve got to find out what! ZERO: (v.o, narrating) 3 years ago, before Dr. Cain died, he always sensed that there was something wrong with the Repliforce. Magma Dragoon took it upon himself to figure it out. -FLASH-

OLD MAVERICK HUNTER BASE – Meeting Room – NIGHT --------------------------------------------------------------------------- Magma Dragoon and his 14th Unit continue to investigate Repliforce’s activity from their computers. MAGMA DRAGOON: Its Burn Dino-Rex! I can’t believe it! I KNEW something was off with him and here it is!! FRENZY FOXKIT: What are you on about, boss? TETHLON: What did you find?? MAGMA DRAGOON: He has an Illegal Weapons Warehouse located in Southeastern Kenya and Repliforce doesn’t know anything about it. He’s funding their own crime-prevention! If word of this gets out, their whole organization is finished!!! ZERO: (v.o, narrating) Dragoon narrowed it down to you... You were the crack in the Repliforce that we were looking for! -FLASH-

SOUTH EASTERN KENYA – Illegal Weapons Warehouse – DAY ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- A warehouse is filled with stacks of ammunition crates. Caught in the act, Burn Dino-Rex can only stare in fear as Magma Dragoon takes out a badge and holds it in front of him. MAGMA DRAGOON: (smiling) Maverick Hunter Special Investigations Unit. Got a minute to talk? BURN DINO-REX: I.. have nothing to say to you! He immediately guards himself, ready for battle. -flash- He powers up into an aura of flame and dashes after him. -flash- Magma Dragoon charges into a flame aura of his own and catches his hands. They begin to pursue each other in a power struggle. BURN DINO-REX: How did you find me!? No one knows that I’m here!!! MAGMA DRAGOON: I’m a detective. It’s my job to know things like this. BURN DINO-REX: You’re going to wish you never found me! MAGMA DRAGOON: Is that a fact? Magma Dragoon puts his right foot behind Burn Dino-Rex’s right leg and trips him to the ground, while still holding onto his arms. The abrasive trip turns the move into a tackle as he holds him down on the ground. BURN DINO-REX: Agh. -flash- He blasts a heavy wave of fire out of his mouth, which causes Magma Dragoon to lose his grip and cough. MAGMA DRAGOON: Aghhh. –kuh- -kugh- Come on man!! Burn Dino-Rex punches him off and gets up. -flash- BURN DINO-REX: You just had to stick your nose in my business. Now I have to kill you. MAGMA DRAGOON: No you don’t. Our factions are allies. If word of this got out, your whole organization would be compromised. BURN DINO-REX: That’s why I cannot allow you to live. Magma Dragoon shakes his head. MAGMA DRAGOON: No man. You don’t get it. You can’t hurt me. And we can’t be seen fighting! BURN DINO-REX: Hahahaha. You’re scared. I get it.. He pounds a fist into his hand. MAGMA DRAGOON: Hah. Hardly… I came here to help you out, moron. I tried to be civil. Maybe cut a deal... …But if you’re too dimwitted to see that, then forget it. I’ll just have to beat it out of you to cooperate. BURN DINO-REX: Hrrraaaaahhhh! MAGMA DRAGOON: Nyaaaaaahhhhh!!!! The two flame up and run after each other with burning hands of fire. ZERO: (v.o, narrating) But something happened.. I still can't figure out what! They continue to clash and crackle at each other with flaming fists and feet until the feed gets cut off by static. -Flash- When the static picture is fixed, we see Magma Dragoon standing before Burn Dino-Rex’s fallen body, looking down at his own fist with a dark grin. ZERO: (v.o, narrating) After that, suddenly Dragoon played double agent until he finally betrayed us and switched sides completely. He took down the Sky Lagoon just so we would fight him. He caused the whole Repliforce War... Just for a stupid grudge. -We see a set of grainy images depicting Zero’s victories over the Repliforce.- Zero stylishly uppercuts Web Spider with a saber, while X takes a Charge Shot in mid-air to his exposed core Zero forms his broken Z-buster and impales a downed Slash Beast with the Thunder God Attack. Zero dashes into Jet Stingray’s cross-cut back and performs Slash Beast’s Shippuuga for the first time. Zero grabs the hilt of his saber with both hands, upside down and thrusts it directly into Frost Walrus’ heart. Zero destroys Storm Owl with his upgraded Rakuhouha Giga Attack. Zero pulls his Saber down and shrouds it in ice as he carves a Frost Blade through Colonel’s chest. Zero holds the fallen Iris in his arms, with remorse. Zero slices General across the chest with a pink Shippuuga slash. X takes a Plasma Shot from the ground. Trapped in a Dark Hold, Spiral Pegasus is finished with a final E-Blade uppercut. ZERO: (v.o, narrating) One by one, I've taken down the Repliforce, and we even got rid of Dragoon, but there's still a loose end. That's you. -FLASH-

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- EXT. KENYA – Sunhouse Mountain – DAY ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- He walks up to the well and looks inside. ZERO: You may have walked away from the Repliforce, but you're still up to no good. You were the one who started this mess in the first place! X doesn’t seem to understand that, but right now that doesn’t matter... He jumps into the well and takes a swift fall into his secret base. - pan to -

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- INT. SUNHOUSE MOUNTAIN – Well Entrance – DAY ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- He lands on one knee, and rises up with closed eyes. S.V - Ep. 1: The Way Things Are

In Outer Space, we see a beautiful image of the Earth as Eurasia, the giant Reploid Space Colony orbits it.

EXT. LOCATION 8197-2201 – New Maverick Hunter HQ – DAY

From a deserted park area, located in between a bay and a city in Oregon, we zoom to a small modest base of operations. Attached to it’s right side is a large beam cannon pointed at the sky, and directly behind the base is the rigging for a recently acquired Space Shuttle, which is being loaded in by a series of Maverick Hunters.

Caption: December 5th, 1:00 PM

SIGNAS: (v.o, narrating) It has been 3 years, and things are finally starting to feel normal, again. As normal as can be anyway…

-pan inside to Signas’ Control Room-

Signas sits at his center console, surrounded by his four main dispatchers who are working quietly at their desks.

SIGNAS: (v.o, narrating) Ever since the Repliforce War ended, the Government has cut our funding. We were forced to downsize and move out of Abel City, California. I have successfully relocated the remaining Hunters here, in Hexagon Bay. /

At the dash, he /pulls up a list of the Elite Shinobi Unit, which displays their names and a small mugshot of their faces: X, ZERO, TAU, VENZO & TAKUMA.

SIGNAS: (v.o, narrating) We now consist of two Combat Teams… /

He /pulls up a second list - the Special Ops Unit: RECON RACCOON, SCORCHE, BARYON, FRENZY FOX, FREEZE ALOPEX, TURIAN, TETHLON, BLIZZARD & BLAZE.

SIGNAS: (v.o, narrating) …a /Recovery Team and a small /Supportive Staff.

He /pulls up a third list for the Recovery Team: GREEN NOIR, RHO, SIERRA, OLIVER, SNOWBALL, SNOWFLAKE & FROSTBITE.

Then, he /pulls up a final list for his Medical and Supportive Staff: PSI, CASSANDRA, LIFESAVER, LUCAS, DAVE, HECTOR, KIRK & DOUGLAS.

SIGNAS: (v.o, narrating) /Lucas and /David, from Dr. Cain’s Research Division are now with me. They have moved up to Central Command along with my new hires, /Hector and /Kirk.

At each dash, we zoom in to the familiar faces of /Lucas and /David, followed by the new faces of /Hector and /Kirk.

SIGNAS: (v.o, narrating) I have also just hired a new navigator, who will aid X and the Maverick Hunters on their missions. But first, she needs to train…

ALIA, a reploid in pink and black armor with short blonde hair and a headset built into her headband, is seen at her computer desk. She takes a deep breath and watches X enter their new training room. After shaking the nerves of her first day, she com-links to him from her switchboard.

ALIA: Hello, my name is Alia, your new Navigator! Let’s begin your training. Are you ready, X?

X nods with a smile as he admires their new training course.

X: It’s been years since I’ve been in a training simulator. It’s time to get back on track. I’m looking forward to this.

ALIA: (o.s, filtered) Me too. I’ll navigate you as you are a novice Maverick Hunter.

The smile on his face quickly wears off.

X: Excuse me??

SIGNAS: (o.s, filtered) Er- Not quite, Alia.

Just then, Alia’s heart skips a beat. She lets out a short gasp.

SIGNAS: (o.s, filtered) X is a Legendary Maverick Hunter, who has saved our planet, many times.

ALIA: Oh my God! Wait…! You’re.. the one who saved us on Laguz Island! And.. stopped Doppler!!! Ohh, my goodness, how could I botch that up? We’ve met before!!!

X: (filtered, staggered) Uhh, yeah..!

On the screen, he slumps his shoulders and raises his hands, looking confused and slightly annoyed.

ALIA: I’m so sorry. I was reading from a script..

She shuffles her prompt papers and lets out a nervous sigh.

X: (filtered, confused) Huh?

Signas smirks at the screen as he chimes in to his somewhat flustered comrade.

SIGNAS: Just go with it, X. Remember, this Training Simulation is more for her as a Navigator, than you as a Hunter.

X: (filtered) Uh huh…

On screen, he folds his arms and straightens his posture again.

SIGNAS: Just pretend that you’ve never been in the field before, and take her advice accordingly.

X: (filtered) ..Alriight. Shall we??

ALIA: (o.s, filtered) Yes.

X shakes the miffed look off of his face and puts his hands at his side. He clenches his fists, ready to begin their session.

Signas looks at the other screens from his console displaying Hunter activity and focuses his attention elsewhere.

SIGNAS: (v.o, narrating) While X begins his training, the rest of our units pursue their struggle to win back the public’s trust.

EXT. NEWPORT – Suburbs - DAY

Caption: 1:15 PM

Along the streets of a neighboring town, a young girl cries about her kitty who is stuck in a high tree.

Green Noir and Sierra from the Recovery Unit appear with friendly faces and open arms. The girl gasps in fear at the sight of them.

GREEN NOIR: Don’t worry. We’re here to help.

SIERRA: We got this, honey.

GIRL: (scared) /Oh!

Sierra /high-jumps and climbs the tree swiftly. The kitten arches it’s back and hisses at Sierra, but she is able to snatch it before it can jump away.

GIRL: Oh my Gahaaaaad…

Sierra lands and hands the kitten over to the girl, who desperately holds her cat and tries to calm down.

Suddenly sirens blare and two cop cars arrive.

GREEN NOIR: Oh man…

SIERRA: Here we go…

SQUAD CAR: (filtered) Stop right where you are! You are under arrest. This is the Newport Police Department, and you are not welcome here.

A heavily armored officer exits his vehicle and calls out.

OFFICER 1: GET THOSE REPLOIDS OUTTA HERE!!!!!

The two of them sigh and teleport away.

INT. NEW MHHQ – R & D Lab – DAY

Alia buries her face in her hands, embarrassed at her first day flop.

ALIA: (v.o, thinking) Jeez, Alia. That was stupid-stupid-stupid!!! What were you thinking!?

She lets out a short sigh and shakes her head.

ALIA: (v.o, thinking) What a way to break the ice…

She regains her composure as she watches X maneuver through their obstacle course, until reaching his first enemy mechaniloid – a spike marl.

The spike marl rolls after him, and opens up it’s little sphere-shell to reveal it’s tiny legs and eye-cannon. She decides to chime in.

ALIA: Enemy ahead of you! Use your X-Buster. Then, you can attack it from a distance.

X: (filtered) Uhhh, I know…

He raises his buster on screen.

ALIA: (put off) Hm..

-cut to-

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------- INT. NEW MHHQ – Training Room –DAY -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

ALIA: (o.s, filtered) Also, keep holding on to your trigger, then/-

He /blasts it down easily with a Charge Shot.

ALIA: (o.s, filtered) Oh..

X: (smirking) Heh.

He jumps over to see a few holes in the terrain of the obstacle course ahead of him.

ALIA: (o.s, filtered) Enemy in the hole, underground. Remember: Your shots don’t penetrate through the land. So, if you want to attack enemies, take advantage of the lay of the land.

X: (smiling) That is actually great advice!

X concentrates his aim on the small spike marl.

ALIA: (o.s, filtered) In this situation, take advantage of the terrain, ignore the enemy and jump over it. You can adjust how far you jump by how long you pressurize your gauges.

X: That part, not so much.

He ignores her and destroys the enemy with a couple of level 1 shots.

X: Always destroy the enemy if you can help it.

He far jumps over to the next ramp ahead on the obstacle course. This time, a pink walk shooter is waiting for him, just slightly out of his normal reach.

ALIA: (o.s, filtered) Hm.. Your enemy is in a difficult place to attack, but that is common in real life situations. Consider how to attack where you cannot attack by normal methods…

X: (nodding, patiently) Mmhhmmm.

ALIA: (o.s, filtered) Your charge shot has a wide attacking range, and if you shoot while crouching…/-

He /blasts it down with another charge shot before Alia can finish her sentence.

ALIA: (o.s, filtered) Right.. Sorry.

X: (smiling) It’s okay. I could’ve used advice like that when I first started.

-pan to-

Alia watches her screen with a slightly glum look on her face.

ALIA: (v.o, thinking) Hmm… I can’t tell if this is going well or not…

SIGNAS: (v.o, narrating) While our new Navigator seems to be having a rough start, our Special Forces Unit have arrived in Salem just in time to investigate a larger threat. This could be good exposure for us.

EXT. SALEM – Pioneer Bank – DAY

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Caption: 1:30 PM

SIGNAS: (v.o, narrating) The local authorities have not been making it easy…

On a hot Sunday afternoon in the middle of a somewhat busy town, everything seems to be just fine outside of the Pioneer Bank when out of nowhere, it explodes from the inside!

*BWWWOOOOOOOSSSSHHHHH*

The flames and ashes scare the surrounding civilians into a panic. Cars drive away as fast as possible, while others run for their lives.

On the other side of the street, Turian, Tethlon, Blizzard and Blaze make their appearance, ready to save the day.

TURIAN: Looks like we got here just in time, gang.

BLAZE: (annoyed) I’d say it was too late, if you ask me!

The Maverick responsible for the attack makes his escape through a side of the building out of what remains of the surrounding walls. He is large and top heavy, with overly sized muscles from the torso up. This allows him to carry a huge vault of cash over his shoulder.

MAVERICK: Huhuhuh. HAHAHAHA! This is too easy.

BLIZZARD: That, bastard!!

TETHLON: Let’s go.

The gang swiftly walks over to the gloating Maverick who is cackling with glee.

MAVERICK: Eeehehehehehee!!!!!

TURIAN: Put that down, big guy.

TETHLON: We don’t wanna hurt ya.

MAVERICK: HAH! What are you wimps gonna do?

Blaze ignites her fists, annoyed.

BLAZE: We’re gonna take care of you!! Come on Sis!!

BLIZZARD: (nodding) Right.

BLIZZ & BLAZE: TWIN FISTS!! /YAH!!

The two of them /shoot powerful fire and ice from their respective hands, which spiral around each other into a large combined Charge Shot.

MAVERICK: Huaah??

He tries to guard his face from the oncoming blast, but it is too powerful. The Twin Fists knock him down, causing an explosion from his chest. This forces the vault onto the ground, which puts a huge dent on its side. Large quantities of money seep out into the street while Turian sets his ice cannon.

TURIAN: We gotta finish this quick, before the cops come.

TETHLON: Yep.

SIGNAS: (v.o, narrating) Despite our best efforts, the police have declared all Reploids an enemy of the state. Ever since the fallout of the Great Repliforce War, Mavericks and Hunters have been treated alike by the human race. We are not welcome here… but we still fight the good fight.

Turian blasts the Maverick down with a powerful wave that freezes him while Tethlon creates a large boulder from his buster. When Tethlon releases the boulder, it crushes the foul reploid.

TURIAN: (smiling) That’s it.

The sirens blare.

BLAZE: Shit! It’s the cops.

TETHLON: Oh, great…!

SQUAD CAR: (filtered) FREEZE, Reploids. This is the Salem City Police!

TURIAN: Come on guys, this is enough.

TETHLON: You sure about this?

TURIAN: (nodding) Yeah. Let’s go. Just as we rehearsed…

TETHLON: (worried) Alriiight.

The gang hops on their nearby Ridechasers and quickly leave the scene as the cops chase them down in their squad cars. Turian leads the group as they weave in and out through the city streets.

SIGNAS: (v.o, narrating) Wait, what’s this??

-cut to-

Hector and Kirk look horrified at their monitors as they attempt communication with the team on their boards.

HECTOR: Turian, what are you doing!?

KIRK: Get out of there!! Do you read???

Only static can be heard from the other end.

KIRK: Shoot! His com-link is off.

HECTOR: Commander, should I force teleport?

SIGNAS: (curious, slightly amused) No… Lets see where this goes first.

They look at him surprised, but follow through with his orders. David and Lucas smile at each other. David points at Signas with his thumb while looking at his buddy, Lucas.

DAVID: I love this guy.

LUCAS: (smiling) Yeah, man.

He focuses back on his monitor.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------- INT. NEW MHHQ – Training Course – DAY -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Along his obstacle course, X dashes further ahead until he bumps into a familiar mechaniloid with two arm cannons and a fearsome, beastly nose cannon.

ALIA: (o.s, filtered) Giant enemy ahead of you.

X: Yep, the Dejira… I remember those.

ALIA: (o.s, filtered) This type of enemy doesn’t move, but specializes in durability. Pay attention to their attack pattern and attack them with your charge shot or a special weapon that works on them.

X: Well, since I don’t have any special weapons, my Charge Shot is gonna have to do.

ALIA: (o.s, filtered) Actually, you’d be surprised about that.

X: Hm?

ALIA: (o.s, filtered) Try calling upon your Force Armor. I took the liberty of downloading it into the simulator, so you can practice your better moves.

X: Really!?? My Force Armor?? But, I haven’t used that in years!

ALIA: (o.s, filtered, encouraging) Go for it.

X: Uh, okay... Here goes nothing. ..Hrrrrrrr/AH!

He focuses his energy, and almost effortlessly transforms with a white flash of light. Suddenly, an enhanced version of his armor emits from his body and shines. Donning a pristine, white and blue armor, accented in gold with touches of red, this version of his Fourth Armor looks like it has never seen a day in combat.

X: Wow!! Alia, how did you do this!?

ALIA: (o.s, filtered) I reconstructed your armor using the Archive Data we have of the Great Repliforce War. Consider it an apology for calling you a novice, before.

X looks at his white and blue gauntlets, amazed. Then, he charges up and points his buster at the idle Dejira.

X: /Wow!

He/shoots a brilliant large plasma shot, which puts a big smile on X’s face. The huge blast leaves a residual ball of plasma energy, which erodes it’s armor and fleetingly destroys the enemy.

X: (shocked, amazed) Apology accepted!! So this armor is a… Replication?

He studies his gauntlets once again before he proceeds with the rest of the obstacle course.

ALIA: (o.s, filtered) Yes, but it only works in the Training Room. For field use, I can download it into your mainframe if you want.

X: Oh, really?

He destroys a wall trap blast and nears a ladder where he climbs down and carefully avoids getting shot from two walk shooters.

ALIA: (o.s, filtered) Sure! After a quick glance at your file, I noticed that your armor fades after periods of non-use. So, I figured it couldn’t hurt to have it, just in case.

X’s eyes widen. After taking care of the walk shooters, he drops down and looks ahead with a smile.

X: Whoa… Well, thanks a lot! This is great!!

-cut to-

EXT. SALEM – Streets – DAY

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

TURIAN: (v.o, thinking) Hehehe, this is gonna be great.

Turian’s gang pushes forward through the frantic traffic. He cannot contain the grin on his face as he com-links to the extension of his team.

TURIAN: Alright, Recon. It’s on.

RECON RACCOON: (o.s, filtered) It’s on?? Alriiiight!!!

TURIAN: Come on, gang! We’re outta here; Full Throttle!!

Turian leads the way as the group takes off at full speed.

Caption: 1:45 PM

The cops cannot keep up, but they do not quit either.

-pan to their side of the chase-

The cops completely lose sight of the reploids when suddenly, a new group of reploids appear before them.

Recon Raccoon, Scorche, Baryon and Frenzy Fox all stand before the 4 squad cars, fearlessly.

-pan inside the first squad car-

OFFICER 1: Uh, sir?? What do we do?

OFFICER 2: They’re testing us. Go ahead. Run them over.

-pan over to Recon Raccoon-

RECON RACCOON: Baryon? Would you like to do the honors?

BARYON: Hmph. With pleasure.

Baryon makes static electricity from his hands, clenches his fists and pounds the concrete heavily. With his fists in the pavement, he moves his electrical pulses through the ground as they reach the squad cars and shock the cars from their undercarriages, effectively shutting them down and stalling them out in the middle of the road.

OFFICER 1: HUH??

OFFICER 2: What the Hell is that???

Recon Raccoon smirks as their cars slow down before them and almost come to a full stop.

He kicks out his foot, which dents the hood of the first car and stops it. Then he holds out his gun with a wink.

OFFICER 1: Armed Reploid! Get out and engage!!!

The armored officer gets out of his car, as the rest follow suit.

RECON RACCOON: Sorry… But we’re savin’ the day, this time.

-cut to-

INT. NEW MHHQ – Training Course - DAY

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

X dashes over to a wall.

ALIA: (o.s, filtered) High wall without any ladder. Jump to the wall, and if you touch-

X: (smiling) I know.

X proceeds to do the triangular kick-jump off the walls that he learned years ago.

ALIA: (o.s, filtered) Oh! Uh..Sorry.

X: Don’t be so nervous. You’re a great Navigator!

ALIA: (o.s, filtered) Hehe, aw thanks.

After kick-jumping up the wall, he spots something new.

ALIA: (o.s, filtered) Can you see the yellow rope in front of you? Jump to it and use your wire hook! Then you can grab the rope.

X: (smiling) Now, that’s new!

-cut to-

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------- EXT. SALEM – Streets - DAY -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Recon Raccoon shoots an officer with a containment blast from his heavy gun. The electric band wraps around the officer’s chest plate and stuns him down to the ground. With his armor affected, he cannot move.

His partner angrily pulls out his gun and takes charge.

OFFICER 2: You call this saving the day!!? /You’re under arrest!!

The rest of the officers /pull up their guns.

FRENZY FOX: All weapons on stun, boys. You know the deal.

SCORCHE: Yeah, yeah…

Frenzy takes out his electric whip and lets out a containment band, similar to Raccoon’s blast. Scorche pulls out a pistol rather than his flame whip and fires a containment shot as well.

OFFICER 2: Evasive Maneuvers!!

The armored officers quickly scatter with their dash boots and high jump away with the aid of thrusters from the back of their armor.

BARYON: Nope. Not today.

He holds out his hands and carefully emits three electrical pulses; two from his hands and one from his visor. The pulses effectively stun and contain the remaining officers.

They all fall to the ground and struggle.

OFFICER 1: (struggling) Gah!! You’ll never get away with this. What is the meaning of this???

-cut to-

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

INT. NEW MHHQ – Training Course - DAY

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

X takes out his new wire hook, and uses it on a short yellow wire for the first time. The wire hook effortlessly clasps on to the wire without any trouble and allows X to freely hang on the rope, while moving over to the next platform. Multiple spike marls are underneath him, which he is freely able to shoot down with his other X-buster.

He jumps from rope to rope, encountering a hover gunner in the process. With an instinctive level 1 pellet, he destroys it and moves on to a vertical rope that leads down into the next section of his Training Course. As he descends down the hallway, he shoots a spike marl below him and lands.

He looks ahead and destroys a hover gunner instantly. Then, he dash-jumps over to another rope and descends further towards the floor below

X dashes with a smile as he spots some more walk shooters and hover gunners ahead.

X: Let’s go!

As he takes them out, Alia breaks her silence.

ALIA: (o.s, filtered) Watch the floor in front of you… Can you see the-

X: Deadly spike trap ahead. Yeah, yeah I know…

ALIA: Uh..In cases like this, do a dash-jump..

X: I know, Alia! You don’t have to tell me everything..

He impressively destroys the mechaniloids in the room with swift shots from his X-Buster. Then, with a hurdle over a medium sized wall, he spots a gate in front if him.

EXT. SALEM – Streets – DAY

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Momentarily triumphant, Recon Raccoon walks over to the disgruntled police officers.

RECON RACCOON: You may not remember us, but we’re the Maverick Hunters. And /THAT… over there… was a Maverick!

At the dash, he points to the scene of the crime, where Turian’s gang had quelled the threat.

RECON RACCOON: We eliminated the threat for you, and yet somehow we’re the ones that are apprehended. Now tell me, why is that?

OFFICER 1: All Reploids… are scum.. and need to be eradicated.

RECON RACCOON: (unfazed) Uh huh… I’ve heard that before, pal.

OFFICER 1: We will eliminate you all one day. Only then, will we be free.

RECON RACCOON: Oh, really?? Well don’t forget that your real enemy is sitting right there, fried in the middle of the street.

FRENZY FOX: You’re welcome by the way!

OFFICER 1: For what? City Clean up?? Do you have any idea how long it is going to take to fix that bank and repair any of the surrounding damage?

SCORCHE: Not our problem…

OFFICER 1: Yes it is. This is why we don’t trust any of you. No concern for our Environment!

BARYON: Well, to be fair, we did lose the Environmental Recovery Unit in the budget cuts.

OFFICER 1: AGH! That’s not the point!! Your whole Operation was blown. You’re all acting as Vigilantes and it isn’t your place!!!

OFFICER 2: We could’ve handled this on our own. We don’t Need you any more!!! Now you just made more trouble for all of us…

OFFICER 1: When we get out of this, you are all under arrest.

FRENZY FOX: We’re only here to help!!

OFFICER 1: We don’t want your help!

FRENZY FOX: Why you!!!?

He raises a whip to the officer, but Recon Raccoon grabs him by the arm.

RECON RACCON: Frenzy! That’s enough. Come on guys, this is a lost cause.

FRENZY FOX: Hmph…

They all walk away. Without looking Recon Raccoon waves a hand at to them.

RECON RACCOON: (calm, controlled) The bands will only last for another 2 minutes. We’ll be long gone by then…

The police officers continue to struggle.

RECON RACCOON: You should consider yourselves lucky. After all the times Sigma tried to take over the World, you’d think the locals would appreciate all the Peacetime.

OFFICER 1: Who!!?

RECON RACCOON: OH GOD! This guy’s an idiot. Lucas, take us outta here.

LUCAS: (o.s, filtered) On it.

BARYON: I guess, we’ve simply been doing our job too well…

SCORCHE: Hmph!

All of the reploids teleport away, leaving the cops upset and dumbfounded.

INT. NEW MHHQ – Control Room – DAY

Caption: 2:00 PM

Signas studies his monitor carefully, taking in what just happened.

SIGNAS: Hmmm, that could’ve gone better…

The Special Ops Unit teleport into the room with a mixture of smug and glum faces.

Lucas turns to his Commander with a guilty look on his face.

LUCAS: I’m sorry, Commander. I should have run their idea by you.

SIGNAS: (calm, poised) Yes, you should have. But, don’t be sorry… It’s important to raise awareness. I’m just glad that no one got hurt.

Everyone in the room is relieved and surprised at their commander’s reaction.

Signas gets up from his control chair and walks away.

Signas walks in to the room, which surprises Alia.

SIGNAS: (smiling) Hey, Alia. How are you holding up?

ALIA: Okay! X is about to face the Training Boss.

SIGNAS: Nice. I could use something uplifting to watch.

ALIA: (nervous) Heh.

She nervously smiles at her boss then turns to the monitor to prepare X for what lies ahead.

ALIA: I have emulated the Dragoon for your training.

X: (gasping, filtered) Magmard… If it wasn’t for him…

-A still,grainy image of Magma Dragoon suspiciously standing next to the Sky Lagoon’s broken Power Generator appears.-

-Followed by an image of the destroyed city below in Virginia.-

X: (v.o, narrating) The Repliforce War never would have happened.

-A grainy still of Repliforce’s Colonel declaring war on X and Zero appears-

-Followed by a mission prompt at the Old Maverick Hunter Base Control Room-

An unconscious Blaze teleports in with pieces of Blizzard, Tethlon and Turian, as they all fall to the ground an ashen and bloodied mess.

PSI: Whooa!

X stares at the fallen 14th Unit in shock with PSI, the head medic and CASSANDRA, the main nurse.

CASSANDRA: Oh my God.

Cassandra leaves the portly rookie, DOUBLE and immediately checks on the incoming Hunters with Psi.

Double stares at them, awestruck.

DOUBLE: Wh-what happened??

X grits his teeth.

X: Dragoon did this… That BASTARD!

Double grins.

DOUBLE: Are you gonna go after him, sire?

X gives him a strange look and shakes his head.

X: He’ll get what’s coming to him… Right now I have to keep my head in the game and go after this lead.

DOUBLE: (surprised) Really?

X: If I can prove to the Repliforce that Split Mushroom was responsible for the Sky Lagoon attack, then I can end this War!

X: (v.o, narrating) But Split Mushroom wasn’t a help at all...

X stands over a defeated Split Mushroom.

SPLIT MUSHROOM: Hahahahahahaha..

X: What’s so funny!?

X holds out his buster.

SPLIT MUSHROOM: Its not about the Repliforce, you fool…… I’m just here to test your limits… And by now… the damage has probably already been done…

X: Huh?

SPLIT MUSHROOM: Oh, nothing. Good luck getting home…

X: (irate) WHAT HAVE YOU DONE!!?

SPLIT MUSHROOM: GAAAHhahahahaha!!!

X: (v.o, narrating) He set me back a lot. With our coms down, I had to contact our allies from his computer in order to get a ride home with The Legion.

-FLASH-

X: (v.o, narrating) He betrayed us! But I didn’t want to believe it. So, instead, I chased other leads…

The Legion Jet gently lands on the rooftop Helipad. The cockpit opens up as a ladder rail juts out from the side, by the wing.

X: (v.o, narrating) Then, I had to solve our new issue. We had been hacked, and the only way to resolve it was to enter Cyber Space!

-FLASH-

The moment X enters the room with Team Legion, Lucas and David stir at the sight of him.

-Flash-

Double and the rest of the Elite Hunters run over to him. He grovels on his knees.

DOUBLE: I’m so sorry, sir. - I don’t know what happened!!

X: (annoyed, ready) Cyber Peacock happened. And now I’ve gotta get rid of him.

Double gasps.

From further towards the Mother Computer, Lucas /claps his hands once.

LUCAS: /Okay! That, I know how to do. David, help me set up X’s Pod.

DAVID: Oh wow. This is just like Anomaly Day.

LUCAS: Exactly like Anomaly Day.

X: (v.o, narrating) The only good thing about this was the possibility of getting more information from this Maverick. Instead, I was only left with more questions.

-FLASH-

—————————————————————— INT. CYBER SPACE – Core Lair – DAY ——————————————————————

In the midst of a vicious battle, X finds out pertinent information from Cyber Peacock.

X: Tell me Peacock!! Did you tamper with our system just to distract me!?? While Countless Innocents in the Repliforce die by our hand???

CYBER PEACOCK: Hahahah… You think you have it all figured out, but that isn’t even half of it.

He teleports away and reappears behind X, giving him a hard punch in the back of the neck.

X: Agh!!

CYBER PEACOCK: Get it through your head. The Maverick Hunters and the Repliforce will all be Dead soon. No matter what happens with your Precious Repliforce War…

X: What!?

CYBER PEACOCK: Muahahahahahhh!!!!! /GAH!!

X narrows his eyes and /fires another Soul Body at him.

X: Something bigger is going on. And I’m gonna find out what!! YOU HEAR ME!!!?

When Cyber Peacock reappears, X grabs him by the neck and punches him in the face.

CYBER PEACOCK: Kaughh..

X: Where did you come from!!? WHO BUILT YOU!?

CYBER PEACOCK: ughh… The Doctor…

X: Hm?

CYBER PEACOCK: D-Doppler.

X’s eyes widen.

X: (thinking outloud) Doppler! No way… Is it possible..? No! I saw him die!

CYBER PEACOCK: The Doctor is dead, but his last act lives on. Just in case he failed, he created me to attack your base from the inside.

X’s eyes widen in anger.

X: Then… you have nothing to do with the Mechaniloid attack at Sky Lagoon??

Cyber Peacock smiles, mischievously.

CYBER PEACOCK: ..n-Nope.

X grimaces and shoves him to the ground, hard.

X: (v.o, narrating) This was it. Magma Dragoon was responsible for everything after all. And there was only one thing left to do.

X stands there in a daze as he receives a com-link from Alia.

ALIA: (o.s, filtered) Um, X? Is everything alright?? You’ve been standing there for 5 minutes…

X snaps out of it with an angry face.

X: DAMN him!!!

He rushes over to the gate, in a furious rage.

ALIA: (o.s, filtered, surprised) Oh! Make good use of your crouching and Charge Shot!

X: Yeah… You bet.

He narrows his eyes with a clenched fist.

X: ..I still need to work out this aggression.

He runs through the gate and drops to a lower ground floor as the gate closes behind him.

The simulation of Magma Dragoon appears with the same wicked grin on his face from before. X narrows his eyes with hatred.

-FLASH-

—————————————————————— INT. VOLCANO – Magma River - DAY ——————————————————————

X and Zero brace themselves for battle on a small landmass, over a smooth river of magma. Zero is protected by a Ride Armor while X bears most of his Force Armor, save for the gauntlets. On the other side of the landmass, Magma Dragoon rises out from the magma, which startles them both.

MAGMA DRAGOON: X and Zero… You’ve arrived. I can’t believe It’s really you!

They both narrow their eyes.

X: Dragoon! Why did you betray the H.Q.!?

He hesitates to answer. He can only offer them a wicked smile.

MAGMA DRAGOON: ………

ZERO: (annoyed, firm) Why did you betray us?! …Answer me, Dragoon!

-Flash-

MAGMA DRAGOON: …You’re so naive. …Listen closely. I let the Sky Lagoon fall! And I’d do it again! Ha ha ha ha ha ha!

ZERO: (shocked) Dragoon!

X: But… Why!? We’re allies! How could you DO THIS TO US!!!???

MAGMA DRAGOON: (impish, baiting) Heh… You’ll have to defeat me first.

- FLASH –

—————————————————————— INT. NEW MHHQ – Training Lair – DAY ——————————————————————

ALIA: (o.s, filtered) Wait…

X snaps out of it again to realize that Magma Dragoon is right here, in the training room. And this is not real.

ALIA: (o.s, filtered) If you set your X-Buster to Auto Charge, you can shoot your Charge Shot easily.

X: (smirking) Auto Charge is for wimps…

ALIA: Oh.. Good luck, X!

X: DRAGOOOON!!!!

He angrily charges after the artificial program, which hops and does a narrow flame kick, right before him.

X back-dashes and blasts him with a fully charged plasma shot.

Taking the hit, the A.I fires a Hadouken at him.

X easily crouches and blasts him from below.

Taking the hit, the A.I fires a crouching Hadouken at him.

X simply jumps and hovers with his thrusters above the hadouken, while charging another shot.

He blasts him, which affects him deeply. Then, he lands.

X: (disappointed) Hm… This A.I isn’t as strong as the original.

X dashes after him and throws some swift punches at his open points. Magma Dragoon just misses catching his punches each time, until he throws a Dragon Punch in retaliation, which X easily reads. He dodges the uppercut at close range and hard kicks Magma Dragoon down to the ground. Then, he charges up once again, unleashing another heavy Charge Shot upon him, which completely leaves him open.

X: Take this, Dragoon…

He powers up as his entire body ignites with bright energy. In one fell swoop, he thrusts his entire body into an air-dash toward the A.I of Magma Dragoon. He destroys the A.I in record time with a Nova Strike.

ALIA: (o.s, filtered) Whoa!

SIGNAS: (o.s, filtered) Nice one, X.

X: (disappointed) Hmph… This one was significantly powered down, from the original. I can tell…

ALIA: (o.s, filtered) …Believe it or not… He had the same specs. You just got that much better.

X’s eyes widen.

X: (surprised) Really?? ..but… I haven’t been training.

SIGNAS: (o.s, filtered) Imagine, if you had!

X thinks back to the first time he destroyed him.

MAGMA DRAGOON: …This is about the Pride and Self Worth of every Maverick Hunter you’ve ignored. Every Reploid whose been thrown to the wayside, because they could never get a word in edge wise with you two.

He slowly rises from the ground.

ZERO: What are you talking about!?

MAGMA DRAGOON: Most of us never had the great privilege of working with you.

ZERO: (coughing, hurt) You did…

MAGMA DRAGOON: A rare Honor, indeed! But secretly, with every triumph and every new power up you two received… I was never happy for you. No. Instead, I grew resentful of you both. Most of us are…

ZERO: Oh BOOHOO! Poor Magmard! You weren’t getting enough attention, so you flew the coup and caused a World Tragedy on our account. Are you kidding me with that, right now?

X: (hurt) Zero!! Don’t.. rile him up any more…

ZERO: NO! We took this guy to Laguz Island. We trusted you!! Almost every co-op mission we’ve done was with the 14th Unit. Then you betrayed us. For no reason!

MAGMA DRAGOON: …It all comes down to one simple thing in the end. Power… And sometimes, in order to achieve what you truly want, you have to make sacrifices.

X gasps and sharpens his brow in anger as he gets up.

X: You sacrificed an entire civilization… and joined Repliforce, just so we’d fight you…

ZERO: So that was your big plan!? Take out the Sky Lagoon and make it look like Repliforce did it!!!?

MAGMA DRAGOON: It was so brilliant. The look on your bewildered faces when Colonel declared War on you.

Tears well up on X’s face as he clenches a fist.

X: (whispering, shaking) So many lives.. Lost for nothing…!

-Flash-

X: We had Peace! We worked so hard to re-attain the state of the World after Doppler’s reign, Sigma’s return and Berkana’s erasures. Then /YOU ruined it. Over the most.. Infantile reason! …I’ll Never forgive you for this!!!

His fist glows blue and then flames up into a fiery, red state. The flames grow across his arm and cover his body as a glowing aura of gold surrounds him. Then, the aura covers his body with pure power.

X: NOVA STRIIIIKE!!!!!!

MAGMA DRAGOON: What!?

He stares in awe of X’s new attack, as X launches himself with a swift air-dash, directly into him.

MAGMA DRAGOON: GYYAAAAAAHHHHHH!!!!!!!

X rams into his chest as his Nova aura breaks off his torso and completely disintegrates his legs.

The broken, defeated Maverick looks up at X with tired, hurt eyes.

MAGMA DRAGOON: gg.. Uuurgh. You… are… strong… X…

Zero slowly gets up with wide eyes as he looks at the damage, X has done. He walks over and stands by his exhausted partner as they look down at their former friend.

X pants as he sweats through his helmet. X: Such a waste… Why Dragoon?

MAGMA DRAGOON: … Always… wanted… to fight… you. …Then …he … appeared … and

X: He appeared? Who?!

MAGMA DRAGOON: …told me to work for Repliforce. To goad you into fighting… …He …told me… he’d give me power.. only if I worked… for Repliforce…

ZERO: …What!? He? Who!? MAGMA DRAGOON: I couldn’t… refuse the offer… Sorry Zero… ZERO: …Dragoon!!! MAGMA DRAGOON: … was worth it… for a final duel…

He turns his head as the rest of his body explodes.

X: (v.o, narrating) Sigma… He was really the one behind the Repliforce War. Not, Dragoon… But even now, we’re still getting traces of him again! I have to be ready, for anything!!

-FLASH-

INT. NEW MHHQ – R & D Lab - DAY

Caption: 2:20 PM

In the R & D Lab, DOUGLAS, the engineer is hanging out with Alia and Signas as X walks in. X looks at his Commander surprised, and salutes him. Signas offers a salute in return.

DOUGLAS: Wow, X! That was awesome.

ALIA: You handled that way better than I could’ve imagined.

X: (smirking) Clearly… For a novice.

ALIA: Ugh, God. I’m never going to live that down, am I?

X: (smiling) Well, you did make up for it with the Armor. Thank you again for that.

ALIA: My pleasure! Like I said, if you want to use it in the field, Douglas and I can install the program into your mainframe.

Douglas smiles at X and gives him a thumbs up.

X: Sounds good.

SIGNAS: Go ahead and debrief him, Alia.

ALIA: Oh! Right. Well, tactically your field experience is spot on, and you far surpassed anything I could expect. Your emotional responses to field combat however, I feel are a bit…

She hesitates to say the words. X looks at her, concerned.

X: It’s okay, you can say it.

ALIAS: …Post-Traumatic.

X: (admitting) I’ve been through a lot.

ALIA: (smiling) I can tell… You’re holding together though.

Signas smiles and looks at X.

SIGNAS: And how’d she do, X?

ALIA: Hm?

X: Well, with all due respect, although she is really nice, she kind of talks too much and has a tendency to point out the obvious.

ALIA: (defensive) Hmph! Well she is standing, right in front of you! The least you could do is address me while I’m in the room.

X: Sorry to offend you.. I think with some more experience, you’ll become great at this.

ALIA: (put off) Right! Well, we’d better download that program if you want to use the Force Armor in the field.

X: Let’s do it. With Maverick Activity on the rise again, I think it’s only a matter of time before Sigma pops up again…

They both share a concerned nod.

SIGNAS: (v.o, narrating) Yes, things certainly have been interesting for us, as we’ve re-established ourselves in Hexagon. However, we fear that this minor time of peace may be coming to an end. Maverick Activity has been picking up lately and the Local Authorities are not having us. The Repliforce has been silent as well, which is a slight concern. Their Colony still orbits directly above our planet, although it is not currently considered a threat. I just hope that Eurasia truly is a new breeding ground for Reploids to thrive off planet, and not just a place for them to reload their weapons.

We zoom out from the new Maverick Hunter Headquarters to see their boastful beam cannon and the large Space Shuttle resting at the sides of their base.

SIGNAS: (v.o, narrating) For this reason, we have taken their unfinished Enigma cannon and acquired an old Space Shuttle from NASA. It seems that we’ll finally be able to adhere to Dr. Cain’s last wishes after all. He had always hoped we would create a Space Unit one day to explore the unknown… Once its ready, we plan to visit Eurasia to see what is really going on up there.

We zoom out from Earth and closer into the brilliant Eurasia Space Colony.

We zoom in to the Space Colony Eurasia. What was once a thriving Reploid Community has now been mysteriously destroyed by a tall assassin. His long white hair wafts in the artificial wind of the Colony as his crimson visor partially glimmers from the artificial sunset behind him. The shady figure stands amidst the desolation, tall and proud as he reports to his latest contractor.

Caption: 4:25 PM – Eurasia Time

DYNAMO: Yes, it’s ready… Piece of cake. The Colony is still alive.. I can let it fall at any time… Please let me do it now. I’m getting bored. All I have to do is… go back to the Earth and scatter the Virus.

Over coms, the mysterious voice of his contractor speaks.

SIGMA: (o.s, filtered) You’re exactly what I expected… You’re doing a good job… hee hee hee.

DYNAMO: Nobody dares to fight against you, except those stupid Maverick Hunters. I’ll do anything for you, anything…

SIGMA: (o.s, filtered) Good… I’m going to Earth to execute our plan. Stay where you are and await further instruction.

DYNAMO: But I don’t think you need to do it personally. Are they really a threat? Are X and Zero really so strong that you can’t let someone else do it?

SIGMA: Hee hee hee. Yes, in a manner of speaking.. Zero… I’ll show you what you really are and who your true enemy is… Hee hee hee hee. Bwah ha ha ha ha ha!!!!

Surprise Update!

I can’t believe I’m saying this so soon but... I just finished writing Episode 1 of Season IV today! - The Opening Stage in Full. I wasn’t expecting that.

Stay tuned for the upload and notes on the chapter.

[13 Days Later: April 30th]

I have no idea how I cranked this one out so fast. Being an opening stage to my favorite game helped. Still though, due to the nature of the stage, it is hard to make sense of exactly why X strikes against members of the Repliforce BEFORE Colonel declares war on them.

The only thing that I can think if was that X was just responding to an emergency and had to take quick measures as the Sky Lagoon as getting destroyed.

Having the Repliforce Soldiers blindly follow Dragoon’s orders was a nice touch, I hope. I liked it.

But lets talk about the beginning of the episode. I like how these Gate flashbacks are somewhat paralleling the recent past and the current present. Unfortunately there is not much of a connect regarding Metal Shark’s death and the current Sky Lagoon Incident. Save for the idea that we’re looking at 2 incidents that will affect the Reploid Scientist Community.

Based on Episode 0′s ending, I knew I needed more continuity on Dragoon’s decision to betray the Maverick Hunters. His scene with a captured Burn Dino-Rex turned out a lot better than I thought it would.

[There may have been a lost opportunity when I had Dino-Rex tell Dragoon, “I’ll get you registered into the Repliforce today” and then I didn’t show Red doing that.] That’s extra though. It’s implied.

From there, I wanted to show Sigma and Isoc pleased with their recent success. I didn’t want to delve too much into their plans, because I still want certain in-game developments to feel like a surprise. However, already at Ep. 2, I’m way happier with seeing the Villain Side of things than I was from the stuff I did for Season III.

At last, it seemed like the stage was set to start the game. Through use of my wonderful Narrator, I was able to explain why the Sky Lagoon was a big deal, before it fell. And I was surprised with what I came up with a little bit. “Scientists, Scholars, Doctors, Lawyers, Professors, Stock Market Analysts and top Business Associates the world over live there.”

That would definitely affect the World if it got rocked.

I wanted to add weight to the already awesome Opening Stage. To give us more of a reason for the Repliforce and the Maverick Hunters to be at each other’s throats.

From Colonel’s perspective it was more of a - How dare they!? We came here to help just like you, and you’re accusing us of all of this? Fuck you, man.

From X’s perspective, he has proof that some rogue Repliforce grunts struck, first. He had no choice but to retaliate and question their 2nd in command later.

And from Dragoon’s perspective, this whole thing was working out perfectly. He duped his new Repliforce team into thinking that he left the Hunters, because X is “a terrorist”, not to be trusted. And the grunts immediately followed his orders like idiots. Being able to crash the Sky Lagoon and make it look like a giant Mechaniloid did it, he was able to get away scott-free and now he was freely able to pursue his deepest, darkest dreams. To fight X or Zero.

As for Zero, I always had it in my mind that his nightmare should happen mid-opening stage. I think it’s the coolest thing to have X do the first part of the Opening Stage and then Zero take care of the rest. It’s sort of a nod to X7 & X8′s style of gameplay for a first mission.

When writing it, I wasn’t sure if I was gonna re-neg and keep X in the area when Zero got there. And sure as shit, I made it a together mission. But that works out too.

I really enjoyed combining the X & Zero dialogue with Colonel.

I did not enjoy explaining the stage directions, and as you can tell, I sort of glossed over them. By making this a together mission, I was able to skip X falling into the crevice completely and have Zero go through his Iris dialogue, uninterrupted.

X catches back up basically after that conversation with Iris.

They both take out Eregion.

And then I had a lot of fun going through the Colonel dialogue, and giving it a little more depth where I could.

I wonder if people read and liked this as much as I did.

But by the looks of it, people were excited for this one to drop, so I’m glad about that.

As of this writing, Episode 2 has also dropped, and I was really surprised at how quickly a threw that one together as well.

Shield Sheldon looks up at Dr. Doppler in fear. He has blood-stained hands.

SHIELD SHELDON: Doctor… It’s not… how it looks.

Just then, MAGMA DRAGOON, TURIAN, TETHLON, BLIZZARD, BLAZE, FRENZY FOXKIT and FREEZE ALOPEX from the 14th Special Investigations Unit teleport in.

MAGMA DRAGOON: (growling) What’s going on here!!?

DR. DOPPLER: MAVERICK!!!!

Dr. Doppler points the blame at Shield Sheldon.

TURIAN: Sheldon, what happened to Dr. Jim?

SHIELD SHELDON: (afraid) I-its… not how it looks…

FREEZE ALOPEX: Mhm… That’s what they all say…

-Flash-

TURIAN: You’re outnumbered, friend. Stand down.

SHIELD SHELDON: I won’t!

GATE: Sheldon, pleeease. You’re making this worse for everyone.

SHIELD SHELDON: My purpose.. was to protect important people like Dr. Jim, no matter what the cost. And I failed him! I failed you!!

DR. DOPPLER: (angry) You KILLED him!

-Flash-

SHIELD SHELDON: (stressed, panicking) N..n-NOOOOO! Its too late!! None of you will believe me!! There is no future for me here… I can’t take this.. This is no way to live! ..n..No way to liiive!

Shield Sheldon duplicates himself in 4 Shield shells that fire powerful cross-shots in an X formation. He then teleports towards the middle, without his shield guards, and allows the shells to fire at him at point blank range.

-Flash-

GATE: Sheldon! Don’t do this!! Let the Maverick Hunters bring you in for questioning!

-Flash-

Shield Sheldon fires rapid fire at himself from his guard shells.

SHIELD SHELDON: GAAAUUgghhh-IIIII don’t deserve to Liiiiiive!!!

His body starts to take corrosive damage as it gives way to a massive explosion at the center of the room.

-White Out-

ALIA: (o.s) Hey!

-cut to-

GATE: Huh?

Gate shakes off his day dream and looks up at his colleague, ALIA from his desk chair.

ALIA: Are you listening to me at all, silly??

His Co-worker and Companion tilts her head as she smiles down at him and hands him a tablet.

Gate does a double take at the article on the tablet. It boasts a large picture of a spectacular Colony in the sky. Suddenly his mind is in a much better place.

GATE: (gasping) That’s fantastic!! And to think…. Our humble little practice helped make that happen.

ALIA: (giddy) Uh huh! Every little contribution helped the Reploid Research Foundation fund this Amazing Project. And now it’s a real thing! OH! Could you imagine ever getting transferred there!!?

GATE: Haha! Now, now. Let’s not get carried away.

ALIA: I know…. But, my goodness. To work and live in a beautiful city like that in the sky? (sigh) A girl can dream…

She takes her tablet back, and playfully bops him on the head with it. Then she walks out of his office.

GATE: Hm.

He finally lets out a short smile as he looks out of his window.

Episode 0: A Different World

Tall trees provide shade around the hills of Pine Meadow Cemetery as a large community of Reploids is gathered around a gravestone.

Beloved Doctor, Creator and Father of all Reploids

Sept. 22 2047 - June 1 2120

Reploids, Maverick Hunters and Repliforce Soldiers join in a circle around a human pastor who begins his eulogy.

PASTOR: Before we begin, I would like to introduce myself. My name is Reverend Jonathon Crowne, but you can all call me Pastor John.

Some reploids smile at this. Others take in a breath of fresh air. While others remain grim and exasperate with something of a sigh.

PASTOR JOHN: …I have had the pleasure of knowing Edwin through the Church of our Holy Father.

X, the light blue Reploid who felt like a son to Dr. Cain, folds his hands as he looks down at the ground with a solemn face. ZERO, his partner and trusted friend looks down at X with concern. Nearby IRIS and COLONEL of the Repliforce take note of X’s disposition as they listen to the pastor.

PASTOR JOHN: It was there that I discovered this man’s unique faith in the Lord. It was not only his devotion to God, but to all Mankind, which made him stand out in our Community. It is.. unfortunate that he no longer has any living relatives from his Biological Family to join us here, today. However… It is that same fact, that makes your presence here even more special. …He created a new family when he created Reploids like yourselves.

-pan back to the reploids in the crowd-

The 17th Elite Unit lightly smile at the Pastor’s words from behind X while Zero’s Shinobi Unit share their leader’s indifference.

As the Eulogy proceeds, X’s mind begins to wander.

X: (v.o, thinking) Hm…. He created his own family after he met me… I still remember that ride home…

LOCATION E… – Doctor Light’s Mountain Lab - DAY

Caption: April 16, 2114

X marvels at the sight of a large Nom Corp. aircraft hovering outside and anchoring itself to the mountain with a landing ramp.

X: Whoa! What’s that?

Doctor Cain smiles at his extraordinary discovery. He can’t believe what he’s found and couldn’t wait to see the look on his crew’s faces when they saw X.

DR. CAIN: That’s for us. We’re going home.

X: (quizzical) Home??

At that moment, a Pilot and two of his Crewmen step out onto the landing ramp.

PILOT: Hey there, Dr. Cain. What's the rush? You were only gone for a week.

CREWMAN 1: Yeah, Doc!

CREWMAN 2: Did you find something good?

DR. CAIN: (pleased, excited) Good morning, gentlemen. I would like to introduce you to my new friend, X.

X walks up to the airship; Dr. Cain following closely behind him. He waves to the crew with a smile.

X: (smiling) Hello.

CREWMAN 2: Whooooaaaa, we got a robooooot!

X: (confused) Huh?

Dr. Cain clears his throat loudly, causing the excitement to die down.

DR. CAIN: (ordering) Show some respect! This is more than a mere robot. This is a person!

CREW: Uhhh, okay.

As they enter the ship, the crew all look at Dr. Cain like he's insane. The Co-Pilot lays eyes on X from the inside and reacts accordingly.

CO-PILOT: What the-

DR. CAIN: (Commanding Authority) This is X, and starting today he is going to be a new member of our team!

The Pilot quickly walks by and gets back to his seat as Doctor Cain leads X to a window seat where they can begin to settle in.

PILOT: (wary) Yeah sure… You got it.

DR. CAIN: Now... I promised X a nice view of the sky as we enjoy our flight back home. I expect you'll show him just as much respect as you show me.

The pilot clears his throat and the rest of the crew scatter back to their posts.

PILOT: Uh... of course, sir. Whatever you say.

-fade to-

Moments later they are up in the air. Once the initial excitement of being airborne has faded into normalcy, X’s mind fills with questions once again.

X: Um… Dr. Cain?

DR. CAIN: Yes, X?

X: Where’s ‘home’?

DR. CAIN: What’s that?

X: You mentioned that we were going home. Where is that?

DR. CAIN: Oh. Well… I meant that we are leaving South America and heading to our base in North America.

X: (gradually more confused) Oh… What is a base?

DR. CAIN: A base is.. um… Well, it’s a place of operation. A place for people to work. It is where you and I will work together to help build positive relationships towards humans and robots.

X: Oh okay. That makes sense. So… is that my purpose in life?

Dr. Cain is surprised at X’s completely open question.

DR. CAIN: (answering carefully) Well… I think you were created… to make that decision for yourself. However, at Nom Corp. I feel like you and I could begin to-

X: (interrupting) What’s Nom Corp.?

DR. CAIN: (explaining) Oh… That’s where you and I are going. That’s where I work.

X: (curious) Why?

DR. CAIN: (muttering) This is going to be a long ride…

EXT. PINE MEADOW CEMETARY – DAY

------------------------------------------------------------

X lightly chuckles to himself as the pastor proceeds with the eulogy. Then his smile quickly fades into numbness once again.

PASTOR JOHN: At this time I would like to share a poem by American Poet, Bessie A Stanley, called “He has achieved success”:

-Pan to the Reploids from the 15th Research Department who had worked the closest with Doctor Cain.-

PASTOR: (continuing) …who has enjoyed the trust of pure women,

-Pan to Iris and Colonel who stand alongside the Repliforce GENERAL.-

PASTOR: (continuing) …the respect of intelligent men and the love of little children;

-ICE WOLFE, WHITE WOLF and NIGHT WOLF of the 13th Unit Wolfpack nuzzle their sad young pups. The 5th Unit Police Squadron stand by them with folded arms.

PASTOR: (continuing) …who has filled the niche and accomplished his task;

The 11th Unit Medics and 12th Unit Miners nod.

PASTOR: (continuing) …who has left the world better than he found it;

X looks up to the sky while Zero looks away.

PASTOR: (continuing) …whether by an improved poppy, a perfect poem, or a rescued soul;

ZARRICK, an ex-Maverick Hunter smiles from the back along with his friends GEAR-RIG and SKID. Despite leaving the group, they are still close friends to their former Unit, the 9th Special Ops Battalion, who stand by them.

PASTOR: (continuing) …who has never lacked appreciation of Earth’s beauty or failed to express it;

The 16th Environmental Unit perk up and smile at the thought.

PASTOR: (continuing) …who has always looked for the best in others and given the best he had.

Pan over to CAPTAIN, the Commander of the Maverick Hunters who frowns. The 7th & 8th Armored Air Cavalry stand with the 6th Maritime Unit as they comfort one another.

PASTOR: Whose life was an inspiration; Whose memory a benediction.

With folded arms, Magma Dragoon shares a stern nod with his grim, 14th Unit.

The Pastor looks at them after finishing his reading. Then he takes a deep breath.

PASTOR: To say that Doctor Cain was a good man is an understatement. He was a diligent scientist, a dignified scholar and a gentleman. He put his heart and soul into all of his work, and gave it to you; his children. He was the type of person who would stop everything, no matter how important, just to make sure you were having a good day.

X sniffles at the reminder.

PASTOR: These are the qualities that bring us to God. They allow us to enter the Kingdom of Heaven and grant us a life Eternal peace and happiness.

X nods as he lets out a breath of relief, while Zero sighs with rolled eyes.

ZERO: (v.o, thinking) What a crock...

PASTOR: On Earth, his legacy will continue to thrive now and forever through you; his Reploids. But I'd like to think that somewhere up in the sky… right now Doctor Cain is already working on his next exciting project.

He offers a warm smile and allows time for a brief pause.

PASTOR: Thank you for joining me this afternoon. This concludes our service for today.

-pan up to the sky above-

NARRATOR: (v.o) Personal Log: File - 00

Today was the passing of my creator. And to be honest, it was quite numbing to my sensory receptors, for I had never even met him. However, his Eulogy was so moving. So touching to the DNA Soul… that it feels as if I’d known him throughout the entirety of my short life.

Which is impossible, considering that my Pod would never activate had the circumstances…. Well anyway…

Dr. Cain's notes must live on through me now... But who am I?? For now, just consider me an observer. In time, I think the entire Reploid Community will come to know me very well.

-pan down to the ground -

With Doctor Cain's coffin freshly buried in place, there is no need for the Reploids to congregate at Pine Meadow Cemetery any longer. The Maverick Hunters and Repliforce begin to bid each other farewell.

NARRATOR: (v.o) He was clearly loved by his peers, the Maverick Hunters.

We see members of the 5th - 9th Unit slowly leave the area as they console one another.

- Pan to SLASH BEAST, JET STINGRAY and STORM OWL of The Repliforce, who slowly take their leave. –

NARRATOR: (v.o) The Repliforce seemed a bit more distant, but their mere presence was honorable. Dr. Cain was clearly a highly respected member of their Community. I can only hope that I would receive such high regard in the future, given the chance. In the meantime though, I shall follow through with his Initial Plans. I will monitor the progress of The Maverick Hunters and The Repliforce carefully. He trusts that my A.I Processor will allow me to decide which faction to join when the time comes.

The 11th - 14th Unit slowly file out of the cemetery towards their Squadron Carriers.

NARRATOR: (v.o) My only question is…. if both organizations are cooperatively working in tandem towards the same goal…. How will I know the difference…? I trust that this will be answered in time. Or perhaps that is just another mystery to life, that I’ve yet to discover…

As most of the Reploids in attendance clear the area, Captain shakes General’s large hand with two of his own. Their Silver and Gold bodies shine against the sun as the whiskers on their faces bear an uncanny resemblance. Although General is approximately 3 feet taller than him, Captain cannot help but smile at his Repliforce counterpart and like him more, simply out of vanity.

CAPTAIN: Thank you for coming.

GENERAL: Of course. I wish I could stay and join you for the reception, but I must return to Headquarters.

CAPTAIN: No worries, General. We shall meet for lunch another time.. I must be on my way as well.

-pan over a short distance from the two-

Colonel, the General’s second in command, and his sister Iris stay behind to make sure X and Zero are okay.

IRIS: This is so sad!! How are we going to live without him now!!? Everything’s going to be so different!

X sniffles at her raw display of emotion.

She buries her head into Zero’s chest, who comforts her with a light rub on the back.

ZERO: I know, I know…. But its gonna be alright. All we have is each other now…

Colonel gives Zero a crooked look out of his periphery. Innocent as it may be, the sight of Zero's hand running through her long hair while rubbing her back bothers him.

X’s tears stream down his cheeks very slowly as he lets them go. He needs them for release at this point. Otherwise he felt like he would internally combust.

COLONEL: Are you okay, X?

X: (shaken) I… I will be.

Colonel marvels at the state of X. No other reploid has ever been designed to emote at such a capacity. So what made him so special?

X: (crying, upset) It’s just… He was.. like a. ff..ahAhather to me.. And now he’s gone!!!!

X could not contain his sadness any longer. Embarrassing as his sobbing might be, with each sniffle, a brief wave of relief would pass over him, before the weight of his loss came down once again.

Colonel places a firm hand on X’s shoulder.

COLONEL: Don’t cry, X. There’s nothing more you can do…

IRIS: Don’t say that. He doesn’t need to hear that right now!

ZERO: Its true…

IRIS: Hey!! That’s not nice!

X: Its okay Iris.. I know what they mean.

ZERO: Stay strong brother. We're gonna get through this.

X: I know…

X becomes numb as his drying tears swell his cheeks, just under the eyelids.

COLONEL: Gentlemen, if there’s anything that we can do…. Please let us know. We are here for you.

X nods and lets out a short smile.

X: Thank you, I know…

COLONEL: The Repliforce are your brothers in arms and comrades in life. Do not forget that the good Doctor created Iris and I as well. That means that the link between us can never be severed!

X smiles again and nods feeling better.

ZERO: Thanks Colonel. Its great to know that you have our back when we're down. We're not really used to that.

X: You were.. a great help to us on Laguz Island, last week. Thank you for everything.

ZERO: (smiling) What, this guy!? He didn’t do anything. His troops did all the work!

Zero mocks the Colonel in jest as Iris gasps.

COLONEL: Excuse me?

ZERO: (mocking) All you had to do was sit in your fancy chair next to General, I bet!!

IRIS: (offended, worried) Zero!!

ZERO: Relaax, I’m only kidding. Cernie knows that.

COLONEL: …Who do you think sent Out those troops and directed them you nit-wit!? …and don’t call me that! I already told you. No nicknames in public…

Colonel starts to lighten up and show a bit of good humor as he adjusts his hat with a sheepish grin.

Zero shares a look with the Colonel and they both burst out laughing.

X’s emotions jump from worried to confused. Unsure as to why or how, for some reason Zero was very chummy with the Repliforce Colonel. X believes it might have had something to do with their training sessions this summer.

GENERAL: (calling out) Colonel! …Time to go.

Colonel turns to his superior and offers a respectful salute.

COLONEL: Yes sir.

He turns back around.

COLONEL: Well, I must be going. You take care of yourselves; especially you, X.

He turns around and walks away.

ZERO: Hey Colonel! We still on for sparring on Tuesday?

COLONEL: You know it, bud.

With that, Colonel runs off to the General and teleports away with him.

IRIS: I'd like to stick around for the reception if that’s okay with you…

Zero's eyes brighten up as his smile grows wider.

ZERO: (excited) Yeah! That sounds great.

He looks at Iris and puts his arm around her. Then he starts to lead them to the front gate.

She rests her head on his impressive bust as her cheeks flush into a rosy red complexion.

X follows behind the two with a melancholy face.

X: (v.o, thinking, sighing) Oh Marty… We were never like that, but Damn do I miss you…

-a purple flash blinks on the screen-

An image of BERKANA, a wicked, but beautiful witch, lustfully sitting on top of X's pelvis passes by.

X quickly shakes the image out of his mind.

X: (whispering) God Damn it, Berkana…

- Fade to-

NARRATOR: (v.o) Recently the Maverick Hunters and the Repliforce have endured a hardship at Laguz Island. Berkana, a once respected Scientist, unethically experimented with artificial reploid resurrection. She did so by taking the existing DNA Souls, or 'Erasures', of ordinary reploid citizens and placing them into the bodies of formerly deceased Mavericks. Within minutes, every Maverick the Hunters had ever defeated were alive once again. This became known as “The Erasure Incident”. But they had help in the Repliforce…

INT. RECRUITMENT STATION – DAY ------------------------------------------------------

Caption: June 1st, 2120

A large reploid with slicked back blonde hair sits at a table with a stamp, quickly reviewing the paperwork of new Repliforce Recruits. His nametag reads “RED”.

In line, SPIRAL PEGASUS and JET STINGRAY are waiting to be cleared for duty.

After looking everything over carefully, Red firmly stamps both forms, looks up at the two and smiles.

RED: Okay! Jet Stingray and Spiral Pegasus. Welcome to Repliforce. Your Commanding Officers are in the next room.

He shakes their hands and points them to the door, where they meet their Team Leaders TIDAL WHALE and STORM OWL in the next room. Standing by them are team leaders; SLASH BEAST and FROST WALRUS.

-cut to-

A grainy image of a Repliforce air carrier looming over Laguz Island appears. The back hatch is open to reveal the team ready for battle.

At each dash, quick grainy images of the Repliforce attacking Mavericks on Laguz Island pass by.

NARRATOR: (v.o) With the help of /Storm Owl, /Spiral Pegasus, /Slash Beast, /Burn Dino-Rex, /Tidal Whale, /Jet Stingray and an Ex-Maverick Hunter known as /Web Spider, the Repliforce were able to defeat every revived Maverick by nightfall.

/Storm Owl clashes cyclones against tornadoes with Storm Eagle.

/Spiral Pegasus blasts heavy winds at Flame Stag.

/Slash Beast savagely slashes Gravity Beetle to death.

/Burn Dino-Rex roasts Morph Moth.

/Tidal Whale overpowers Wheel Gator.

/Jet Stingray destroys Bubble Crab.

/Web Spider feeds on Armored Armadillo's fried corpse.

NARRATOR: (v.o) Maverick Hunter X and Zero were able to quell the threat of Berkana within 24 hours. But there was another threat too, that came to everyone as a surprise. It was what caused my creator's heart attack. And given his data files… I'm not entirely convinced that he won’t return from the grave once again...

INT. BIO LABORATORY – DAY

In a dark, dank Lab room, ISOC, a tall, sinister Reploid Researcher with red eyes and a distinguished white beard works with his new partner.

????: Muahahahaha! At last the time has come!!

The small mushroom-themed reploid rubs his hands in anticipation.

ISOC: Yes, Split Mushroom. It’s time to bring our master to the physical plane.

SPLIT MUSHROOM: Hehehehe!! I can hardly wait.

On the large display monitor, SIGMA can be seen in his virus grid-like form, with a large purple aura surrounding his large face. Standing next to him is CYBER PEACOCK, who looks pleased. While Sigma failed to destroy the Hunters on the physical plane, he was able to successfully revive him in cyber space.

SIGMA: (filtered) I trust that you have created the form I designed this time?

Isoc and Split Mushroom look at the body behind them lying dormant on a work table. It is draped underneath a thick black cloak.

ISOC: Yes sir. We followed every specification you desired.

SIGMA: Splendid. Then let’s get on with it.

ISOC: Indeed.

He types in commands and points to Split Mushroom who quickly runs to another console and pulls a lever.

A pointed terminal from the ceiling slowly points toward the body as the device warms up with power.

SPLIT MUSHROOM: (grinning) Hehehee! Very soon, very soon!

ISOC: Stand by. Priming the converter.

The triangular tip of the ceiling terminal opens up to display a pointed barrel of a laser gun.

ISOC: Get ready for transfer… Applying the DNA Signature...

A mechanical cylinder within the barrel of the terminal glows with purple energy. On the display monitor, Sigma's large head slowly begins to stretch and funnel through a digital terminal.

SIGMA: Whoa whoa whoooaaaa!

ISOC: You’re going to feel a pinch, sir. Be patient. Not much longer now.

SIGMA: Ohhh, God!

His purple energy and grid-like face flatten into a straight line as he is virtually siphoned from the Cyber Network and his DNA Signature is transferred into the Energy Converter behind them.

SIGMA: Aaaaagh!

SPLIT MUSHROOM: He's in!

SIGMA: Note to self. If I EVER die again.. I need to learn how to phase through the Network in my Virus Form.

ISOC: Fire on my Mark.

Isoc rushes over to the body and makes sure that it is lined up in proximity to the Energy Converter. Then he shuffles a safe distance away and looks over to his assistant.

ISOC: Now!!

Split Mushroom fires the device and successfully blasts a ray of Sigma's DNA Signature into his new body.

The dormant body on the table comes to life with a spasm. He jerkily sits up on the table as he slings the cloak around his back and puts his hood on. Turning to his right, Sigma plants his feet on the ground and slowly stands up. With the new cloak, he looks as foreboding as the Grim Reaper himself.

SIGMA: Heheheh. Thank you Gentlemen. That’s much better.

ISOC: It is our pleasure. Now that Berkana is out of the way, what is our new plan?

SIGMA: Hm.. As I stated before… This 'Repliforce' group could play a very strong hand in my favor this time around. If I could just find a way to manipulate them.

ISOC: Ahh. ..But as I have brought up before, I think it would be wiser to add numbers to our operation before we attempt to overthrow any Armies.

SIGMA: Don’t misunderstand me, Isoc. We won’t be overthrowing anyone. For now, we wait and gather information on the Repliforce. There is still much we do not know about them. I also agree that we could do with a little more.. company...

ISOC: Yes. Well, this is Split Mushroom - the Reploid who formerly owned this Laboratory. I rebuilt him as a Maverick to assist us in our efforts.

Split Mushroom looks up at them with an evil grin, eager to help.

SPLIT MUSHROOM: Split Mushroom! At your service.

He creates a duplicate of himself and they take a proud bow. Then they dive back into each other as a singular entity once again.

SIGMA: Hmph. I'm sure you could prove as a useful… distraction.

He gestures to the monitor screen, where Cyber Peacock is casually standing by.

SIGMA: You already know Cyber Peacock, I presume. Courtesy of the Late Doctor Doppler. I'm sure he'll prove to be quite an asset to us.

Cyber Peacock unfurls his sharp deadly tail feathers and grins at the screen.

ISOC: Mm, yes indeed.

Sigma walks over to the computer and pulls up a file labeled DN. On screen we are shown the blue print schematics of a bat-themed Reploid.

SIGMA: This is my latest design, Dark Necrobat. We need to build him and finish completion as soon as possible.

ISOC: Ooh, what a remarkable design! Where did this come from?

SIGMA: I worked on it before paying a visit to Laguz Island. If you and the Mushroom build him, I can focus my efforts on manipulating the Repliforce to do our bidding.

Isoc offers a sinister smile.

ISOC: Why stop there? Why not manipulate the Hunters as well to ensure that these two factions will both wipe each other out, completely!?

Sigma's eyes glow as they widen, impressed.

SIGMA: Ooh. I like the way you think. Yes… I think that could do just fine…

He strokes his chin and begins to grow inspired.

INT. REPLIFORCE SANCTUARY – Study – NIGHT

Caption: September – 2 months ago.

The General sits at a long table in a gigantic luxurious chair reading until he hears a knock on his door.

GENERAL: Hm?

The Colonel walks in, humbly and apologetically.

COLONEL: General, I'd hate to bother you, but I've received some disturbing news.

GENERAL: Hm?

COLONEL: Our intel indicates that Sigma is still alive, sir. And he’s requested an audience with you.

GENERAL: Then I shall meet with him.

COLONEL: But General, are you sure??

GENERAL: I have read his file. I am not intimidated by a Maverick whose true form seems to be that of a parasite.

Colonel's eyes widen.

COLONEL: But sir-

GENERAL: I find it sad, really. Why not sit with him and find out what he wants?

COLONEL: It could be a trap sir. What if he attacks you!?

General simply smiles.

GENERAL: That. Is something I'd like to see.

He cracks his knuckles as his huge hands create an echoing crack at the room. Then he folds them behind his head.

GENERAL: We shall discuss whatever he wants like civilized gentlemen. And if he tries anything, then that will be his last mistake. I assure you.

Colonel looks at his superior with shock and awe.

COLONEL: Sir. For all our sakes, I hope you are right.

GENERAL: Fear not. Let him in. Soon we will all know what this is about.

EXT/INT. REPLIFORCE SANCTUARY – Study - NIGHT

Thunder clashes on this stormy night, just outside of the Repliforce Sanctuary. Inside, the large Golden General sits at a long table in his Study. At the other end of the table is a cloaked figure who bears two eerie red scars across his face as lightning strikes against the window. Sigma was back from the dead, no doubt. But how?

SIGMA: It’s about the Maverick Hunters, General. They are far too eager to please the humans, and continue to hunt down the Reploids. Do you believe they pose a significant threat? GENERAL: …Perhaps… SIGMA: You already know the truth, General. Their sole mission has been to destroy any Reploids who fail to do as the humans order! GENERAL: Hmm… SIGMA: (insistent) It’s in your best interest to stop them now, before they turn on you! You possess enough power to /destroy them! At the dash a heavy bolt of thunder and lightning strikes from nearby, ominously. The General lets the bolt of lightning flash by. He is unfazed by it completely as he seems to stare down his guest. GENERAL: …You are dismissed.

SIGMA: (shocked) What?! GENERAL: I will not betray the humans. Remove yourself from my sight. My business with you has concluded…

SIGMA: (muttering, laughing) Eh, Heh heh heh… very well. But you will change your mind soon, I assure you! /Ha ha ha ha… HA HA HA HAH! At the dash, he gets up from his chair and walks away. A spark emits from Sigma’s staff, resembling that of a very sinister, scythe. It is at that moment, where the General almost feels as if he had been paid a visit from the Grim Reaper himself. Fortunately for him, he knows that logically such a thing could never possibly exist.

Once he is gone, the General slumps in his chair and places his large right hand against his temple. The Colonel knocks on his door and walks back in.

COLONEL: What happened sir?

GENERAL: …He means to start another war with the Maverick Hunters and the Humans. And he dared ask for my help!

COLONEL: What the-? He must be stopped!

GENERAL: No…

COLONEL: Huh?

GENERAL: The Maverick Hunters are our friends, but their battles are their own. We will only engage with Sigma if he personally attacks our Armies.

COLONEL: But sir!! At a time like this, we need to preserve Solidarity.

GENERAL: (shaking head, aggravated) We must remain Neutral.

COLONEL: Its what the Admiral would’ve wanted!!

GENERAL: (piqued) Well I’m not the Admiral!!! All Leadership Programs have been placed in me!! And I determine what’s best for us. Not you. Is that understood?

Colonel stares at his superior and slowly salutes his commanding officer.

COLONEL: My apologies sir. I will leave you to your thoughts.

He abruptly turns around and walks toward the door.

COLONEL: (v.o, thinking) The Maverick Hunters.. X and Zero…! If Sigma comes after you again, I hope you’ll be prepared for him. For I fear that we may not be much help this time around…

-fade out-

INT. MAVERICK HUNTER BASE – Training Room - DAY

Caption: November 5th, 2120 - TODAY

X stands in the middle of the Training room and channels all of his power. A white-goldish aura surrounds his body as his normal blue armor is coated in white light by his helmet, chest, arms and legs.

X: Hee-yah!

In a flash of power, X transforms into his Third Armor where he continues to power up.

X: (v.o, thinking) That’s it X. Just keep pushing. Dig deeper into your Potential. (aloud) AaaaAAAHHHH!!!!! HYPER MODE!!

X’s armor coats itself in Gold as his aura is shrouded in a continuously charged state.

X bends his knees and prepares to test his powers once again. Despite this time of Peace, X has learned the hard way that he must continue to train his body in order to maintain his fullest potential.

X: /Yah!!

X dashes around the room across the floor and through the air at all angles as he leaves a trail of golden light behind him.

X: (v.o, thinking) Whatever comes next… I need to be Ready! (aloud) /Hah! /Yah!!

X /punches the air, then turns around with a /kick.

X: (v.o, thinking) Doppler’s Army and his Nightmare Police almost ended us! Then Berkana revived every reploid including an even more-powerful Sigma… Never again. NEVER AGAIN!!

X rages as he air-dashes high in the air, and feels his power heat up through his dash. The reminder of his latest battle with Sigma burns him at his core, and he feels that heat begin to release itself externally.

X: AAAAGH!!!!

X’s Golden Armor fades into a darker shade of bronze and brown at his core, as his outer aura begins to turn purple. He performs a flaming dash that exhausts his entire system and causes his armor to neutralize itself back into his blue form.

X: Whoa!! /Ughgh!

He puts his hands out as his body /slams to the ground.

X: (panting, exhausted) Ah.. hah. I.. can’t… Ugh… I can’t do it yet.

X slowly rises to his feet as he wipes the sweat off of his face.

X: There is definitely a higher plateau to be achieved… I just can’t do it in this armor…

INT. MAVERICK HUNTER BASE – Meeting Room – NIGHT

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

MAGMA DRAGOON: YES! I KNEW IT!! Finally. We’ve got some dirt on the Repliforce!

TURIAN: Hm??

At the 14th Unit Meeting Room, Magma Dragoon and his Unit continue to investigate the Repliforce’s activity at the surmised request of the deceased Dr. Cain. In his final evaluation report, Dr. Cain declared “REPLIFORCE v3 proven ineffective and potentially dangerous,” however the reasoning for this report remained a mystery until now.

MAGMA DRAGOON: Its Burn Dino-Rex! I can’t believe it! I KNEW something was off with him and here it is!!

FRENZY FOXKIT: What are you on about, boss?

TETHLON: What did you find??

MAGMA DRAGOON: He has an Illegal Weapons Warehouse located in Southeastern Kenya and Repliforce doesn’t know anything about it. He’s funding their own crime-prevention! If word of this gets out, their whole organization is finished!!!

FRENZY FOXKIT: Whoooa.

BLIZZARD: Oh my God.

BLAZE: This is huge!!

TURIAN: So what do you want to do??

MAGMA DRAGOON: I’m gonna pay the Maverick a visit myself. Have a little talk with him; Reptile to Reptile.

TURIAN: …You don’t want us to go with you?

MAGMA DRAGOON: No. I can handle this myself.

BLIZZARD: What!? But why??

MAGMA DRAGOON: Maybe we can negotiate and handle this peacefully for once. The rest of the Repliforce are clean as a whistle and they were an immense help to us on Laguz Island.

FREEZE ALOPEX: But he’s a Maverick! What if he fights you??

MAGMA DRAGOON He’s a Fire Element like me. He can’t hurt me….

BLAZE: (insisting) By that logic, I’m a fire too! At least let me go with you.

Magma Dragoon stubbornly shakes his head.

MAGMA DRAGOON: Nope. I just want to talk to him. I’ll make those intentions very clear. Coming as a full group would create a hostile environment. And then you’d all be a liability if he doesn’t cooperate.

TURIAN: Hmph. Well, it looks like you’ve made up your mind then…. Good luck, sir.

EXT. SOUTH EASTERN KENYA – Illegal Weapons Warehouse – DAY

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Magma Dragoon teleports into the area and averts his eyes from the sun. He walks amidst the patchy dirt looking for Burn Dino-Rex amongst a series of warehouses.

After a moment, he spots Burn Dino-Rex placing a crate of ammunition down in front of a huge stack of crates. Then Burn Dino-Rex closes the gate behind him.

MAGMA DRAGOON: (casual) Hey…

BURN DINO-REX: (surprised) WHAT!?

He immediately turns around and gives Dragoon a look of fear.

Magma Dragoon takes out a badge and holds it in front of him.

MAGMA DRAGOON: (smiling) Maverick Hunter Special Investigations Unit. Got a minute to talk?

BURN DINO-REX: I.. have nothing to say to you!

He immediately guards himself, ready for battle.

MAGMA DRAGOON: Now lets take it easy, friend. Engaging into battle will get us nowhere. We’re both Fires.

BURN DINO-REX: (powering up) Hmmm, I don’t care!!!

He powers up into an aura of flame and dashes after him.

Magma Dragoon sighs and readies himself.

MAGMA DRAGOON: (sighing) So much for that…

He charges into a flame aura of his own and catches his hands, as they begin to pursue each other in a power struggle.

BURN DINO-REX: How did you find me!? No one knows that I’m here!!!

MAGMA DRAGOON: I’m a detective. It’s my job to know things like this.

BURN DINO-REX: You’re going to wish you never found me!

MAGMA DRAGOON: Is that a fact?

Magma Dragoon puts his right foot behind Burn Dino-Rex’s right leg and trips him to the ground, while still holding onto his arms. The abrasive trip turns the move into a tackle as he holds him down on the ground.

BURN DINO-REX: Agh.

MAGMA DRAGOON: Stand down. I just.. want to.. talk!

BURN DINO-REX: Never!

He blasts a heavy wave of fire out of his mouth, which causes Magma Dragoon to lose his grip and cough.

MAGMA DRAGOON: Aghhh. –kuh- -kugh- Come on man!!

Burn Dino-Rex punches him off and gets up.

BURN DINO-REX: Lets go!

MAGMA DRAGOON: (getting up) Ahh. No! You’re a member of the Repliforce who is engaging in Illegal Activities! You have no ground here!

BURN DINO-REX: You just had to stick your nose in my business. Now I have to kill you.

MAGMA DRAGOON: No you don’t. Our factions are allies. If word of this got out, your whole organization would be compromised.

BURN DINO-REX: That’s why I cannot allow you to live.

Magma Dragoon shakes his head.

MAGMA DRAGOON: No man. You don’t get it. You can’t hurt me. And we can’t be seen fighting!

BURN DINO-REX: Hahahaha. You’re scared. I get it..

He pounds a fist into his hand.

MAGMA DRAGOON: Hah. Hardly… I came here to help you out, you moron. I tried to be nice and civil. Maybe cut a deal with you. …But if you’re too dimwitted to see that, then forget it. I’ll just have to beat it out of you to cooperate.

BURN DINO-REX: Hrrraaaaahhhh!

MAGMA DRAGOON: Nyaaaaaahhhhh!!!!

The two flame up and run after each other with burning hands of fire.

MAVERICK HUNTER BASE – Meeting Room – NIGHT

------------------------------------------------------------------------

Turian, Tethlon, Blizz, Blaze, Frenzy Foxkit and Freeze Alopex watch the footage of Magma Dragoon’s failing negotiation with worried faces.

FRENZY FOXKIT: Aw no!!

BLIZZ & BLAZE: Shit.

TURIAN: I knew this was gonna happen!

TETHLON: What now??

FREEZE ALOPEX: Don’t interfere…!

They all turn to her.

14th UNIT: What?

FREEZE ALOPEX: He doesn’t want us there. You heard him. We’d only be a liability.

BLIZZARD: Are you out of your mind?

BLAZE: What the Hell is wrong with you!?

FREEZE ALOPEX: Excuse me?

BLIZZARD: We have other powers than him. Hell, if you and I double-teamed him, maybe we could stop him for good.

FREEZE ALOPEX: And what good would that do, huh? The Repliforce are supposed to be our allies. Doing that would only create problems.

BLIZZARD: Not if they knew all the facts…

TETHLON: (nervous, hopeful) L-Lets not give up hope yet… Dragoon’s doing pretty okay out there. Maybe he can.. calm him down and.. t-talk him out of it.

Just then, the power goes out for a second and comes back on. The Satelitte Feed has cut off and only shows static.

FRENZY FOXKIT: What the-?

BLIZZ & BLAZE: Shiiiit!

TETHLON: The power went out.

TURIAN: Damn it! We’re offline. We won’t be able to track his progress now.

FREEZE ALOPEX: That’s a sign! Let’s just leave it alone. He’s got this and doesn’t want us there. Those were his orders.

BLAZE: …coward.

FREEZE ALOPEX: You know what? I don’t have to take this. Until I hear otherwise from our Leader, I’m outta here. And you should all respect his wishes too.

She opens the door and walks out of the room.

BLAZE: Hah! Look at her go!! …Bitch.

Frenzy Foxkit turns to her, shaken to his core.

FRENZY FOXKIT: Are you KIDDING ME!!? That’s my Sister!! You guys are… Unbelievable!!!

He grips his Spark Whip extra tight and resists the urge to hit her with it. Or to hit something anyway. Instead he just runs out of the room and follows his sister.

TETHLON: Aw jeez… Now look at what you did.

BLAZE: Shut up Tethlon!

TURIAN: ALL OF YOU. BE QUIET!!!

The group looks at him shocked.

TURIAN: I get that tensions are high right now, but I’m very disappointed in you right now.

BLAZE: We need to-

TURIAN: (Authoritative) We will WAIT HERE, until the System Reboots. …Then we’ll decide whether or not we need to intervene.

EXT. SOUTH EASTERN KENYA – Illgegal Warehouse - DAY

------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Magma Dragoon dashes after Burn Dino-Rex and throws flaming fists at him.

MAGMA DRAGOON: /Hrrgh, /grr, /rrr!

Burn Dino-Rex blocks them all as he backs up with a grin on his face. He turns to whip him with his fiery tail, but Magma Dragoon jumps up and flame kicks him hard in the head.

BURN DINO-REX: Kaaaugh.

Burn Dino-Rex gets dizzy and falls to the ground as his head hits a hard rock. The knock to his gears cause Dino-Rex to go into stasis as his eyes become vacant.

MAGMA DRAGOON: Oh shit… He’s out cold. Well good. That means I can finally talk to him when he comes to. Let’s see…

He looks around to see if there is an open warehouse where they can talk. He’s also probably going to need to tie him down or something.

Just then, Sigma teleports in.

SIGMA: My my… Well done Magma Dragoon!

Magma Dragoon turns around and is spooked by the sight of him. He feels like he just spotted a ghost.

MAGMA DRAGOON: (spooked) Haw!!

His eerie red scars glimmer through the black cloak as his blue eyes glow.

SIGMA: Well… I was kind of hoping to do this with Burn Dino-Rex, but this works out much better, I think.

MAGMA DRAGOON: Wha- What the… Who are you?? Are you his weapons contact???

SIGMA: HAHAHAHAH. Don’t be absurd.

Sigma takes out his scythe and stabs Magma Dragoon with it right in the chest.

MAGMA DRAGOON: Gaaa-aaa-aaa-aa-aahh!!!!

Magma Dragoon is shocked at his core as dark purple energy seems to seep into his armor.

SIGMA: You have a lot of darkness in you. I can sense it. You always have..

MAGMA DRAGOON: (confused, hurt) D-..darkness?

He tries to grip the scythe and fight it, but it just shocks his hand. He has no choice but to bear the pain and succumb to the darkness within. He falls to his knees.

MAGMA DRAGOON: Gaaaaah.

SIGMA: Yeees. That’s it. Look further into yourself and think about what it is that you really want.

MAGMA DRAGOON: …to be the strongest.

He grins evilly.

SIGMA: Yes. You want to be the best.

MAGMA DRAGOON: Better than… X.. and Zero!! It should be ME!!!

SIGMA: Yeeess. That’s it. Now you’re beginning to see.

Magma Dragoon looks up and squints his eyes at the cloaked figure. Then he starts to realize who he’s speaking to.

MAGMA DRAGOON: You’re Sigma!

SIGMA: Yes. It is I… Come to reap your soul and show you the way.

Magma Dragoon nods his head in agreement, corrupted.

MAGMA DRAGOON: (dark, epiphany) I DO want to fight them. I want to defeat them. I always wanted to!! Just to wipe that smug look off of their faces.

SIGMA: Hahahaha!! I can give you that chance… I can grant you that power. If you just do one thing for me.

He looks up at his dark master in awe.

MAGMA DRAGOON: Name it.

SIGMA: Take down the Sky Lagoon.

MAGMA DRAGOON: ..The Research Colony? Why??

SIGMA: A grand gesture such as that marks the perfect return of Lord Sigma to his adoring public!!

Magma Dragoon looks up at him in awe.

MAGMA DRAGOON: O..okay. I’ll do it.

SIGMA: Splendid!

He takes his scythe out from his core and allows Magma Dragoon to stand.

MAGMA DRAGOON: (mystified, brainwashed, perplexed) But first… I h-had.. unfinished business here… with /him!

He looks down at Burn Dino-Rex and points at his comatose body once he remembers why he was there.

SIGMA: Yes. Please attend to your business. I’ll see to it that he cooperates with you completely.

MAGMA DRAGOON: Huh?

SIGMA: Not only will you two agree to keep this little operation hush hush, but in turn, he will allow you to join the Repliforce. That way everyone here can reeeeally learn to trust each other!

He puts an unsettlingly soothing hand on Magma Dragoon’s shoulder as he leads him towards Burn Dino-Rex.

Sigma reaps Burn Dino-Rex’s soul with his scythe and injects his own dark influence into his core, just like he did with Magma Dragoon.

SIGMA: There. That should wake him up.

CYBER PEACOCK: (o.s, filtered) Lord Sigma! Come in.

Sigma receives a com-link from his faithful servant, Cyber Peacock.

SIGMA: (whispering) What is it Peacock?

CYBER PEACOCK: (o.s, filtered) I’m holding the signal for as long as you need, but if we want to make this look authentic, you need to leave soon.

SIGMA: Very well. I’ve done what is necessary.

MAGMA DRAGOON: Hm?

Sigma turns to his new pawn and smiles.

SIGMA: It is time for me to take my leave. But when the time is right you shall receive my signal. And then we will all get what we want.

Magma Dragoon offers a crooked smile, as Sigma disappears.

Standing in front of Burn Dino-Rex’s fallen body, he looks down at his fist with a dark grin.

MAGMA DRAGOON: (v.o, thinking) Soon, X and Zero. I will show you how powerful I really am!

INT. MAVERICK HUNTER BASE – Meeting Room – DAY

Turian, Tethlon, Blizzard and Blaze gasp as the satellite feed finally links back up to their monitor.

TETHLON: (gasp) Hey it’s back!

TURIAN: Finally… That took longer than usual.

BLIZZARD: Heeey guys look! He did it.

BLAZE: (smiling) Son of a bitch. He pulled it off.

TETHLON: Hahaha, look at him! He’s so smug, I love it.

Turian runs over to the console and com-links into Magma Dragoon.

TURIAN: Sir! You did it!!

EXT. SOUTH EASTERN KENYA – Illegal Warehouses – DAY

Magma Dragoon stirs at the sudden sound of his companion’s voice.

MAGMA DRAGOON: Huh!?

TURIAN: (o.s, filtered) We lost the feed there for a second, but it looks like everything turned out all right!

MAGMA DRAGOON: (dark) Heheh. HAHAHAH!!! Yeees, it did. Now if you’ll excuse me, I still need to talk to this worthless piece of garbage.

TETHLON: (o.s, filtered, stoked) Hahaha, ohhh man! He is fired Up!!

Magma Dragoon smiles at this.

MAGMA DRAGOON: I’ll be home soon guys. Closing Communication now.

He walks over to Burn Dino-Rex and grabs him by the collar of his armor.

-Freeze Frame. Grainy Effect-

NARRATOR: (v.o) Unknown to the Maverick Hunters, Magma Dragoon has been possessed by Sigma! Unknown to the Repliforce, Burn Dino-Rex has been illegally storing and selling weapons to crime organizations all around the World. What this Secret Partnership between Sigma, Dragoon and Dino-Rex may result in, I do not know. But it doesn’t bode well for our future. That is for sure.

2/16/17 Update

One year ago, today, I finished writing the last episode of Season III.

In the interest of keeping everyone up to date on my X4 Planning Progress, I wanted to share the news that writing has actually started on an Episode 0 for Season IV!

The picture is not completely clear yet, however other ideas have sprouted and fed off of each other. So I have jotted down multiple scenes and dialogue sequences for things that would/should take place in the Pre-X4 Continuity.

Xtreme 2 introduced the Repliforce, but it was a Movie Script. An add-on, or an extra. It should feel like a bonus, rather than mandatory reading, as was the game in the first place.

That said, my main goal is to Re-introduce the Repliforce as friends and close allies to the Maverick Hunters. I need to establish the absence of a certain character that has been in the games up until now.

I’ve been toying with a new Formatting Concept, which may or may not work in the long run, but for now I’m taking a risk. And since this is about the 3rd time I’m bringing this up, I might as well tell you what the actual plan is.

Before each episode, I want there to be a quick 2-5 minute scene of Gate’s X6 flashbacks. Because I just don’t see them fitting in, any other way. That said, I suppose it’s safe to spill the beans that Season IV Ep. 0 actually begins with a Flashback of Post-Xtreme Continuity. (You might remember the one.) It showcased Shield Sheldon’s death, which special guested Dr. Jim from X6, Dr. Doppler from X3 and Magma Dragoon with his 14th Unit.

What’s nice about starting with this is that this is one of the last chances we get to see Magma Dragoon as a good guy. In fact, for a brunt of Ep. 0, we may get to see the spotlight on him. But I still have to figure out other sequences.

Speaking of which, I will not give away the Mystery Narrator, but I’ve had fun writing that sequence, which takes place during and after a somber Funeral Service for Doctor Cain. [Since I brought that up in another update, it’s not exactly spoilerific.]

That’s about as far as I got, I suppose you could say, but I’ve been jotting down ideas for the next sequences that follow. Even for a Stage Select scene, which won’t take place until Ep. 1 or 2, even.

The pacing for Ep. 0 is definitely going to be interesting.

As I laid out before, so far the basic outline is:

[Sheldon Flashback]

[Cain Funeral]

[Mysterious Narration] - explanation of Xtreme 2 events.

[The set up of Repliforce]

^ I’ve yet to figure out exactly what kind of ‘explanation’ I’m going to do. Or how I can quickly show a cameo of key Repliforce members being recruited by Red in this process, but its going to happen.

From there, we’re looking at...:

Sigma’s re-introduction amongst his group - Split Mushroom, Cyber Peacock and Isoc.

Then I’ll cut back to now, where General & Colonel somehow find out about Sigma’s return. [I have to figure out the How, but General will meet with him from there.]

Then we’ll get our Anime Insert cut-scene from X’s story: General’s meeting with Sigma.

We’ll go to our Maverick Hunters from there, where Dragoon finds dirt on Dino-Rex and is super excited. I actually wrote a good bit of that scene already, just upon thinking about it.

From there, Dragoon and Dino-Rex will duke it out.

Sigma will tempt Dragoon. [Still need to figure out if Dragoon was told to work for Repliforce or not. This would cause mass confusion amongst both sides (which was probably the goal.)]

So yeah... The flow is gonna be interesting, I can tell already.

We’re looking at a flashback, a somber funeral, a friendly introduction to Repliforce Members, mysterious narrations, which remind us of Xtreme 2 and show us that Sigma is still alive. Familiar territory of General meeting with Sigma. Then, Dragoon following up on a lead about Dino-Rex and having that all get botched up.

I’m looking forward to solidifying these ideas, and knocking out this Pre-Episode. I feel like, once I get to the actual Sky Lagoon incident, most of the events should flow pretty naturally.

I’m saying this now, but I don’t know how much I’ll stick to it in the end. There probably won’t be a lot of Supporting Character interference after the Web Spider stage. There simply isn’t room for them in this Great Repliforce War. [But I can have Zero bring teams along.]

The Elites are gonna get pissed at X not wanting to get involved at all, but I already wrote something pretty neat about that, if and when the time comes. That may or may not be in the 1st Stage Select scene itself.

One of my favorite challenges is going to be incorporating X’s dialogue with Double and Zero’s dialogue with Iris at the same time, as if they’re both in the same room!

It’s going to be fun to write Double not fitting in and getting picked on by the other Elites.

There’s a lot of potential to have more going on than just the game events here, and I’m looking forward to delving into each of those avenues.

Anyway... That’s the latest on what I’ve got for now.

Take what you can from that and enjoy it, because I have a feeling my next update won’t be until April, possibly.

The reason for that is; well... for the first time in my life, I’m moving out of my parent’s house. I’ll be living with my girlfriend at our new apartment, and I can’t wait to start our life together!!

So yeah. Things like unpacking, moving furniture, budgeting and settling in are going to take precedence, before I really get a chance to sit down with X again.

That is not to say that I’m giving up the ghost either though. Recall - I wrote most of Xtreme 2, while on breaks at work on my phone! The ending of Season III too for that manner.

This type of situation will most likely occur again for S. IV, but it just hasn’t happened yet.

Either way. I’m looking forward to stringing all these ideas together, and hopefully polishing it up into a nice Pre-X4 Chapter for everyone to enjoy.

Season V - Afterthoughts on the 2nd Arc

This is more about Ep. 11, 12 & 13, but I gave the 1st Arc the same amount of attention. I might as well do the same for the 2nd Arc.

-----------------------------Episode 7-----------------------------------------------

I’ve said pretty much everything I wanted to say about these first few episodes in the arc, so I’ll just leave a true afterthought:

I was really surprised how quickly we got back into the action again, and that X & Zero got all the way about to their boss fights before the episode came to a close. Moreover, I was really happy that I was able to further develop things from Dynamo’s perspective, who was still recovering from his fight with Zero.

These were rock solid fights against Spiral Pegasus & Dark Necrobat. With the way things worked out, I like how Zero barely survived his fight, and actually needed to learn how to work with Alia in order to win. [In hind-sight, X being able to teleport his weapon chip to Zero is sort of a cop-out, but.. that’s Mega Science, baby. Alia’s a genius!!]

The rest of the episode was sort of a strange moving of the chess-pieces. X getting his Gaea Armor part, Zero flying home and everything in between.

But I still love how it ended, with Dynamo surprise attacking the base, once again and this time it was X’s turn to defend their home.

-------------------------------Episode 9---------------------------------------------

This one was pretty climactic. I really enjoyed X’s fight with Dynamo and exploring more of Dynamo’s sociopathic motivations.

After the fight, I feel like it suffered from some necessary moving of the chess-pieces, but in a way it gave me a chance to do something interesting with Lifesaver’s character. He doesn’t really trust X or Zero, seeing as they aren’t affected by the Virus in one way or another. And X’s lashing out against Zero was an unexpected addition, which added tension to their straining relationship. I both liked and disliked this, considering what I was setting up for later.

This one just sort of ended while X & Zero just started their next missions, but Zero got a really good Repliforce flashback out of the deal. It explained why he was so adamant about finishing them off, I hope. I wanted to make him seem like less of a loose cannon and more of a focussed warrior with a long-goal in mind.

------------------------------Episode 10----------------------------------------------

I was really happy once this one was over! Zero’s stage was way more exciting than X’s, but with his new ability of flight, I had to let X spread his wings. [I also, wanted to get to his fight with Rosered as soon as possible.]

Once the Rosered fight was over and X got to coalesce with Zero, things felt right again.

-------------------------------Episode 11-----------------------------------------------

This episode wrote itself, man! I had so much fun working on it.

The very first thing I did was take the all the Canon Dialogue to see what I was working with. I had everything laid out. The shuttle take-off set-up, and then every possible outcome. This is where things got very creative. I had to use colors.

I colored all of the good sequence dialogue in green. Then I colored all the bad sequence dialogue in red. Then I went even further and looked at the failed, time ran-out sequence and saw very usable dialogue that I wanted to take from there. I colored that in crimson.

As I wrote all of those conflicting sequences out, I added one transition moment in the stage directions which took us from the Good Scenario to the Bad Scenario. This stage direction was colored in amber. [That being a piece of debris knocking into Zero’s ship and throwing him off-course at the last minute.]

After playing with colors, I took a look at the Pre-mission set up, and saw what needed expanding in a 2nd session.

X, Zero & Signas reacting to Douglas’ bad news about Auto-pilot not working was very organic and easy to write. This continued into a hallway scene, where X practically begs Zero not to go, but I made sure for X not to volunteer himself either, because the canon dialogue already does that for us, once Zero is strapped in and ready for take-off.

The only other thing I had to set up was Zero going over to the Shuttle to settle in. I really liked this, because it’s the last time I get to write Zero acting heroic, before everything changes. More-over, I threw in some interesting continuity regarding all those Technicians he saved from Spiral Pegasus’ base. One of the new recruits introduces himself as Tack and thanks him for everything he’s done. {If you’re wondering where I pulled that name from, look no further than the X6 Rescued Reploid list. Yes... I am setting things up for X6. But I will not overload us with OCs, because that is not the point of that story.}

With that done, I looked everything over in my 3rd session and expanded upon the worst scenario stuff, in crimson. Life imitated Art here in an awesome way. I was writing this segment on my laptop late at night, before bed and my battery was almost dying. I shit you not, literally after writing the news segment, the computer shut down. Like, I hit period, Dropbox Autosaved, and then bam. It was toast! I could NOT get over that. I wasn’t very worried about losing stuff, because Dropbox Word Online is pretty good like that. I double-checked how the file looked on my phone, and sure as shit, everything I just wrote was there.

That was a great way to end Session 3.

In the next days I tackled a Session 4, where I think I opened up The Battle of Two Fates and compared notes. It was definitely in this awesome place, where I could work on both at once. One Chapter was showing things from X’s perspective and the other was showing things from Zero’s perspective. I truly loved what was happening. My original fan script was finally, truly connecting to the series. I was finally catching up to my Long-Goal.

--------------------------------Episode 12----------------------------------------------

Then, came the Flashback Sequence from Hell. [I might’ve used that term before, but this time it was real.]

The Battle of Two Fates, being my first fan script ever had a lot of exposition in it within the stage directions...

Since writing Season I, I always knew I’d come back to this and change that exposition into a cool flashback sequence. I even started with a long Vile flashback once Season I was done, but I got rid of it almost immediately since it didn’t flow with the rest of the one-shot at all.

By the time Season II was done, I had done so many different things with Zero that I probably thought it best to just tackle that Exposition/Flashback Sequence once everything was done.

This was a good move, but also very frustrating.

I didn’t know it yet, but this Flashback Sequence was easily going to become it’s own episode.

At first, I followed The Battle of Two Fates exposition to a T. I gave us the two moments where X & Zero fight Vile from X1.

Then, I was supposed to go where Zero saved X from the Black Clone Zero in X2, but guess what? Zero’s Maverickism in that Season was a cluster-fuck and rehashing all of that was it’s own chore of a task.

Already, the sequence was messed up. After that was supposed to be quick shots of their teamwork in X3 & X4, but due to Mega Missions & Xtreme 2... That Teamwork was now very layered, and complicated. Not so cut and dry, ‘lets stop the bad guys buddy’, like I had originally depicted from the one-shot.

So... I picked and chose the highlights of the entire series... I had to! [How I thought this would cram into the tail end of Ep. 11 is beyond me.]

To go into further detail about how I edited, re-edited, and even further condensed and compromised all of those flashbacks is a fool’s errand. But I will tell you that I had more fun with colors, opting for X’s narrations to be Blue and his Flashback dialogue to be normal black. It was also smart to throw his entire narration into it’s own file and see if the monologue made sense, by itself.

[This is definitely mostly the case.]

Once I had all the moments and scenes that I wanted, Episode 11 was like, 42 pages!!! Easily, split in half, but I didn’t want to do that. I tried cutting down the flashbacks as much as possible, and managed to make it 36 pages, maybe? Still no good.

So as stated before, I decided that two 18-pages chapters were way more digestible than one, 36 page chapter.

And there we had it, episode 12 was a giant flashback, aftershock chapter where X and we the audience come to terms with the fact that Zero, as we know and love him.. is no more...

--------------------------------Episode 13----------------------------------------------

This one was less about writing, and more about editing than anything else. It’s also the true beginning of the 3rd Arc, so technically it doesn’t belong in this entry. But since they pair so well together, here we go.

The Battle of Two Fates was written as a Christmas Gift in 2010.

The editing to this chapter took place technically as early as Season I, 2011. I had already stated putting in both full Vile fights, but that didn’t flow at all so it was taken out.

But the next technical edit was when I created this blog in 2015. I made a script formatted version, and it was really hard to keep all the dialogue and over-expositional stage directions in. But I did.

Flash forward to now, 2019 when I was really working on this. At the beginning of the 2nd Arc, I fiddled with the battle itself. I noticed that X used a lot of X3 weapons and the Storm Tornado from X1. All of that was edited to X5 & X4 weapons. I definitely beefed up the dialogue to this before truly tackling S.V - Ep 7. I added the Serges continuity from X2 into their hate-talk. X was way less of a pansy... :p [I still can’t believe I wrote that. I generally shocked myself from my past writing.]

So from the battle on, I was mostly covered.

I may have opened it, while working on Ep. 8 or 9, just because. The only thing that was done there was inserting slashes to some of the opening moments of the chapter. I didn’t want to delete anything yet, but I was sure that certain things weren’t gonna work, or needed big changes if they were going to be included.

This takes us back to the flashback sequence. Once I was unknowingly working on Episode 12, I slashed out all of that exposition stage direction nonsense, and deleted it.

The familiar Episode 11 sequences were thrown into the beginning to show Zero’s perspective on everything. Adding a “Moments Ago” caption was the perfect solution to my giant flashback episode. This unfortunately makes Chapter 12 very skippable for folks who just wanna get to the action, but I also don’t blame them.

So even before getting to Episode 13, all of this was kind of pre-done for me.

What really needed working on, mostly was cleaning up the stage directions at first. The tiny goal from session 1 was to just get to X teleporting to the area.

Once X was teleported and we were in the now, I really had to fix almost all of their interactions. This took a session or 3 in itself, but eventually everything that I liked, new and old was reworked, nicely. There was this giant build for one of them to finally throw the first punch, and I really liked how I handled that within their dialogue.

We get a dropkick with a block. Then a fist-clash, and finally the first charge shot.

The ensuing battle after that was mostly unchanged. The only thing left to work on was Alia & Signas’ random dialogue before they duke it out. It wasn’t fully necessary, but I wanted to give a small break in the action, and also keep with the continuity that Alia was going to give X his new armor. [Only this time, it was going to be the Gaea Armor, rather than the Falcon Armor.]

Those battle changes were already worked on from before, so once I got to this section, is was more logistical clean up than anything else.

My last challenge was to get X home once he gets the Gaea Armor. Originally, he got the Falcon Armor and was majorly overpowered by it. It’s what gave him the win against Zero (and ultimately kill him.) [That could not keep for 2 reasons. 1, X already had it. And 2... The Falcon Armor is actually pretty.. weak.] X5′s Armors were designed with checks and balances. The Falcon Armor was light-weight and new with that special flight ability and sweet charge shot, but you could forget charging weapons. X4′s Armor was standard, but you had the Plasma Shot and could charge weapons. And of course, the Gaea Armor was a specialty, meant for spikes and strong defense against enemies. And a sick Giga Attack. But other than that, you could forget about speed, air-dashing or using ANY special weapons. You can’t even equip parts to make him faster or anything.

[Because believe me, that was a plan I had in mind.]

So with that... This chapter didn’t fall as flat as I thought it would.

X gets his Gaea Armor/2nd chance at life. But Zero is long-gone.

Rather than have X pursue a 2nd battle, as he did in the original chapter, this was the perfect break in action to come home. It wasn’t too hard to shift what he and Alia say, in order for her to convince him to come home.

Remember that he hasn’t recovered from any of the fights against Rosered, Dino-Rex and now a fully Awakened Zero who wasn’t holding back.

So this was believable for me to have X get like.. a jump to his system in receiving the Gaea Armor, but that being it. Not a full power-up. Not a 2nd lease on life. Just... being alive at all, and needing to come home and sleep it off, finally.

The last line became Zero’s line. “It’s time to finish the mission...”

Which means that there is more on Zero’s agenda than just X, after all.

Is there hope for their friendship yet?

You’ll just have to wait and see.

As for right now, the 2nd Arc is over, and the 3rd Arc has opened up to a climactic start. I’m looking forward to figuring out these next steps, but for now, I’ve enjoyed reflecting on all of this.

The Spider’s Web.

Hey guys. Just wanted to drop in and explain how S. IV - Ep. 3 is doing.

So far I’ve laid out the plot points which set up the stage run-through of Web Spider’s Jungle, and I’m very happy with what I have so far.

The only thing that’s primarily keeping me from getting further at this point is having any real time to sit down and dedicate my energy to really having X, Zero & company go through this stage.

[Yes. X & Zero will be occupied, but no it will not be for the entirety of the stage. I’m pretty psyched about what I’m going to do with them.]

I won’t give too much away now, but I will say there was quite a bit of pre-stage set up this time around, which even goes beyond the Stage Select Scene which happened at the end of Episode 2.

And that would be Gate’s continuity.

We’re at the point in my Flashback Formula, that these events are coming closer and closer to now. And the Researchers are starting to pay closer and closer attention to this ‘Great Repliforce War’ they keep hearing about on the news, until finally they start to get involved.

How and why is something that you’ll have to see. But in the bigger picture I’m really excited about the pay off.

So yeah. This one started with a final flashback. Some new, unseen continuity regarding that particular reploid. [That made me very happy.] And finally some new continuity regarding how the Reploid Researchers feel about this new political war.

After that I’ve transitioned into the actual Web Spider stage, but direction wise I literally only just started the stage. [X hasn’t even blasted a reploid yet.] =P.

But he will. Oh, he will.

One reason why I think I’m updating today is also to inform you that my schedule is starting to free up a lot more soon. So hopefully I’ll be able to get that time to actually focus my energy on a good stage run-through. The same as how I knocked out The Sky Lagoon so surprisingly quickly.

I wasn’t expecting to have much time, and just wanted to jot things down. But suddenly, I was moving on it, and then it was done!

I have a feeling that soon, I’m gonna have another night like that where I get to knock this Jungle Stage out. We’ll see.

But good things are happening here. Get excited! =D

S.IV Episode 0 is done.

YES!!

I finally finished a 1st draft of S.IV Episode 0. Gonna give it a full read today and make any necessary adjustments. Then I’m going to post it!!

Further commentary will be added later. In the meantime, look forward to reading “S.IV - Episode 0: A Different World” soooooon.

It’s later. Let’s talk about the episode.

Starting off with the very beginning of a Season III Flashback was a risk, but it ended up being a very smart one to take.

By chance, Shield Sheldon’s death, which ties into Gate’s slow motivation toward his X6 disposition, featured Dragoon and his unit. Which ended up being perfect regarding his major turn of events by the end of this episode.

Writing a nice, peaceful, happy conversation between Gate and Alia about the Sky Lagoon felt like a perfect way to set the new time-frame of X4 while also re-introducing them.

This was another thing I was unsure of, because if you read Xtreme 2′s Epilogue, I planted a seed there that Alia was about to go after Ground Scaravich.

For quite a while, I was mulling over, “How do I do that death scene without it coming off as completely random.” Then I decided to play the slow build up to that with these Pre-bumper scenes.

You can count on seeing Alia take down Scaravich, but you’re gonna have to be patient and wait for the flashbacks to catch up to current time. (Which won’t take long, really.)

But yes. As of this peaceful conversation with Gate, you can surmise that she has taken care of Scaravich, gotten over it and then brought up this new exciting news to Gate. Perhaps even as an ice-breaker. Who knows? =)

Moving on. We get to the actual episode.

That somber Cain Funeral took forever.

Don’t ask me where I got Edwin from. It just rang so well that I had to go for it.

Jonathon Crowne was a sweet name that I pulled out of my ass for the pastor as well. Definitely wanted to make this funeral service sound as authentic as possible and I looked up sermon formats and stuff and everything.

I found a great poem, that almost fits in with Cain’s life-style perfectly, so I had to quote it.

I already wrote a whole thing about how I made great progress on the funeral scene, but then it got botched up when transferring data to different computers.

Regarding the planning process, I definitely wrote short dialogue or near-full scenes for later stuff too, first. So when this botch up happened, the silver-lining was that it only affected the Funeral. Which at the time, definitely seemed like the hardest part to re-create. However, there was a tiny bit of General/Colonel stuff that remained, as well as a very different, but still semi-decent set up scene for Dragoon who was about to teleport to Burn Dino-Rex.

So anyway. After the Cain Funeral, I had fun introducing our Mystery Narrator. It turned out way better than I thought it would, but I wonder how well it will be received. [Can you guess who it is??]

The Narrator was the perfect person to guide us through the non-transitional things like giving us quick exposition about Xtreme 2, which just happened. Retelling this became necessary because the Repliforce was involved. It served as a re-introduction to them. Then, it served as a great transition to Sigma’s continuity, which I’m actually very proud of.

Do not want to forget to mention the camaraderie between Colonel, X, Zero and Iris. I really enjoyed that peaceful, sad/silly talk between the 4 of them. Establishing a rapport right now is huge at this time, because then we’re gonna really feel it later when these guys inevitably have to fight each other.

I also really liked being able to delve into X’s psyche regarding the absence of Marty and his recent tryst with Berkana.

So.

With the aid of our trusty Narrator, we were able to recall the events of Xtreme 2, the immense help that Repliforce was, and I was even able to squeeze a quick cameo of Red recruiting people in there.

I will fully admit, this recruitment scene is absolutely gratuitous and unnecessary. It actually messes up the pacing of the Narrator’s recap. But... I always pictured doing SOMETHING with Red in the first episode of X4, since I started this project. So I simply Had to put it down. With the way I formatted this thing, that was kind of the only place for it.

..Either way.. After the funeral was concluded and I was able to show everyone Leaving the place, we finally got to Sigma’s big bad re-introduction.

This was a scene that took a short bit of motivation to write, because the only idea I had was just that Split Mushroom and Isoc do something sciency to bring Sigma back to the physical plain.

One thing that was awesome about the Xtreme 2 Epilogue, was that I didn’t exactly have to show how Cyber Peacock brought back Sigma in Cyber Space. It can just sort of be assumed that Sigma’s virus form was already in Peacock’s programming, as we already saw him turn Isoc in the very beginning of Xtreme 2.

...That said, I enjoyed concocting this ‘energy converter’ machine and imagining that his ‘DNA Signature’ was being shot into a physical body. Furthermore, I liked the idea that he always had that grim-reaper cloak design ready to go at all times. [I want to sort of keep it a mystery as to what he really looks like, until the end. Not that his design underneath the cloak is really all that great. It’s very X-Men if you think about it. (Think short-haired Bishop circa 1998)]

Anyway. I always love Villain behind-the-scenes stuff. I feel like I didn’t do it enough for Doppler in Season III. But now in this moment, I could have our guys establish a rapport, and set out a new plan in real-time. I also loved being able to name-drop Doppler once more, regarding where Cyber Peacock came from. This was another wonderful tie-in to the flashback at the very beginning of the episode. The idea that Cyber Peacock was truly his last contingency plan. Its an incredible thought. Especially since Doppler was around for Xtreme 1, and absolutely knew about the Maverick Hunter’s troubles in Cyber Space.

So.

They make their plan to create Dark Necrobat and plot a bit while they study the Repliforce. And then its finally time to set up that meeting scene between Sigma and the General.

To make the General not seem so dimwitted, I had him already know he was Sigma. Just not intimidated by him. Because there’s no way in that scene that General wouldn’t be suspicious of an ominous forboding grim reaper type figure.

I was handicapped by the Canon dialogue, to not be able to have the General ask how Sigma came back. But sometimes in life, things happen so fast, you don’t get to say what you wanted. So, this is something I’ll get to play with in the future I think.

At this point... I didn’t know where to go.

I knew that Dragoon was gonna fight Dino-Rex, but I needed a good way to get there. I had thought about X and inserting a training scene way earlier, and then I realized there was no room for it, so I dismissed the idea.

But now, I realized this was the perfect place to put it. 1. It refocuses us on our Main Character. 2. It shows us where he is at physically & potentially. The whole point of that scene was to show that, he’s beginning to explore a new form, but he literally can’t get there yet due to the limitations of his Third Armor. 3. It shows us where X is at mentally. He is dry-eyed and focussed once again. I got to name drop Doppler & Berkana once more, realizing that at this time, in November, Xtreme 2 only happened 5 months ago in June and that Season III ended in April.

Its been a shitty year for X where a lot of friends died, and he had near-death experiences himself. Not only that, but Doppler made him realize he has some wicked dark potential within him in the form of iX. Something that he vows never to become.

Giving X this dark edge definitely opens up the character to new possibilities. The Manga infers that his new X4 armor has a dark power within it, to which grants him the power of the Ultimate Armor, but at a price. I really like that a lot.

I want to adopt something similar, but not copy-cat it completely.

So anyway. This Training Scene was the perfect transition to shifting to Maverick Hunter business, and finally getting to that Magma Dragoon/14th Unit scene that I wrote as early as the planning stages.

I’ll admit, it runs a little long, but it absolutely tells us why he has to investigate Burn Dino-Rex. And I’d like to think I did a good enough job to explain why he had to go it alone. Dragoon felt that he’d get NO information if they all went as an intimidating group.

Then came the Dino-Rex scene. This was new. I only wrote it the day I posted this entry.

I think I might’ve felt the pressure of being at 35 pages into the script at this point. I was WAY over my usual page count limit. But I had to keep this going. I had a lengthy Season III Ep. 0 too. And probably the same for Xtreme 2.

So, I did my best to move their quarrel along w/o making this a major be-all end-all fight.

Cutting to the 14th Unit was the perfect move for me, but perhaps at the expense of the reader. We see their reactions to the fight and then their feed gets cut off. [That was the whole point of the scene.] But then, dialogue wise, it opened up this new avenue at a discrepancy between Freeze Alopex and Blaze. This was an opportunity I had to explore, because I was planning on having Alopex & Frenzy switch units anyway. [I always had this planned for after Dragoon turns.]

So... I had them tiff for a second, before cutting back to Dragoon’s fight. And because the feed was cut off, I had to decide how Sigma was gonna intervene. Was he gonna talk to both of them? Or just one.

I was happy to be able to give Dragoon a win. It shows us that things were actually going according to plan before Sigma threw a wrench in the works.

When making Sigma tempt Dragoon with his Scythe/Virus slash, I tried something a little different. This sort of gradual, influenced turn. Rather than having Dragoon immediately sound evil and out of character.

I liked that it was Sigma who made him look into himself, or possibly even influence his own thoughts into this deep rooted envy for X & Zero.

And then, I finally resolved my Repliforce conundrum by having it be Sigma’s idea that these two DO talk and actually completely cooperate with one-another. He guarantees that Dino-Rex will let him into Repliforce and share his secrets with him, so long as he keeps his operation a secret. And the affected Dragoon doesn’t care about allegiances with the Maverick Hunters at this point, because all he wants to do is fight X. So he had no problem with playing a Double Agent now until that time.

The scene was getting kind of long, so I loved being able to have Cyber Peacock cut in and tell Sigma that he’s gotta wrap this up soon if they’re to make his feed cut-off look authentic.

At that point, I was surprised that it happened this way, but once Sigma left there was nothing else to be done!

The 14th Unit got their feed back. It looks like Dragoon had a major win with a little damage to the chest.

Dino-Rex had not woken up yet or cooperated with Dragoon yet. So the best I could do was to have Dragoon tell them that he’s got this and he’s closing off communication.

[This may or may not be the best idea, because we all know what’s going to happen next. We don’t necessarily need to END this issue with Dragoon jumping on to the Sky Lagoon. We already know he’s going to attack it.]

I did want to have Dino-Rex talk and cooperate first before the feed came back, but the pressure of time and length hit me. It felt more authentic this way.

So closing off communication gives me the idea that, maybe they could see him from the Satellite, but they certainly couldn’t hear him.

Especially if they both talk in a warehouse off-camera. Then Dragoon really has the opportunity to plot his own way.

...But, that’s all he wrote folks. And it was a lot!

It took a while to get there due to a move, a new computer set up, re-syncing issues and then figuring out a new rhythm to finding the time to actually dedicate to this thing.

I’m happy with it though. I’m proud of it. It’s very different, but certainly not boring. I knew Cain’s Funeral was gonna take a somber toll on the episode, but being padded with Gate continuity, and exposition about Doppler, Berkana and Sigma’s return, it really made for a nice reset button.

Now at Episode 1, we’re gonna know where everyone is.

Ending Episode 0 with that Narration was awesome. I’d like to always have our guy talk about the Maverick Hunters AND the Repliforce if I can.

This episode took a very long time to drop, but I certainly hope it was worth the wait. I definitely had a lot of fun writing it. Now that we’re getting into the actual game I should be able to dole things out a little sooner. Maybe.

I’m gonna have a lot of fun plotting Episode 1. =D
