A NOTE TO MY REP FRINGE CLASS 2012! ;) :
Guys Hi! ;)
I know this FB Group is in private settings (NOTE ANYMORE BEC. IT IS NOW IN MY TUMBLR HEHE) – so I think it is safe to confess and be a bit cheesy.
Last night, needless to say, you were amazing. I was seated infront, at the middle; I even left 1 long coupon bond with the big words RESERVED (which I made at home) on that seat to make sure that after I have ripped the tickets (at the entrance gate) I will have the best seat when I come back. And so I did.
I always wanted to be an actor, like you, but I always had insecurities. But this FRINGE CLASS, although I left early – the exercises, the activities, the PANGET face, the space, breadth, and alter-ego exercises made me grow. You have not seen the show, BUT I DID. And all I can say is – each one of you grew too as an actor. It made me proud, that even for a shortwhile I was able to work with you.
One very important thing that I like about this class, there are no assholes or airheads. There are quite a lot in the theater industry. Theater first of all is not easy – it is not only about acting, but also the relationships we make – that may be good or bad.
And Yes, THANKS for calling me for the ENERGY exercise while I was seated alone (and I knew it wasn’t about the chocolates, but because of the camaraderie, the team building, the “we” and not the “I” which reverberates in our group). While we were doing it - I felt the energy, the good vibes and I knew that the show will bring out the best in each of you... and it did.
Here is a small token of gratitude from me... for I only did not learn from JENNY and ANA, I also learned from each of you – your talent, and more importantly, your goodness in every aspect of the word.
Thank you all for this inexplicably wonderful experience Kyla Rivera, Red Concepcion, Issa Litton, Reb Atadero, Arya Herrera, Nicanor P. Campos, Nelsito Gomez, Anne Gauthier, @Rico Del Rosario, Therese Carlos - and lastly but definitely not the least Ana Abad Santos and @Jenny Jamora for teaching us all we do not know, which all made us better as an actor and as a person.
GOD BLESS TO ALL OF YOU! And I hope to work with you the soonest possible after passing the bar.
P.S. Let us maintain, or atleast try, as Patsy Rudunberg says, TO BE ALWAYS IN THE SECOND CIRCLE. Because last night, DAMN, YOU WERE!

Repertory Philippines’ second play for 2017 - Agnes of God
A Murder Mystery in a Convent in REP’s Agnes of God
Repertory Philippines, more popularly known as REP, celebrates its golden year by bringing back to the stage the gripping and thought-provoking drama, Agnes of God, as part of its exciting 50th year offerings.
Becca Coates as Agnes
Written by notable playwright John Pielmeier, Agnes of God was a long running hit on Broadway which opened in 1982, and adapted into film in 1985. The play explores the lives of three women and their own dark pasts. Their stories are interwoven into the mysterious case of the young nun Agnes who is accused of conceiving and killing her own baby in the convent.
Pinky Amador as Mother Superior and Becca Coates as Agnes
REP first staged Agnes of God in 1983 with veteran actress Pinky Amador playing the role of Agnes for which she won Best Actress in the 1983 Aliw Awards. Pinky returns in this re-staging of the critically-acclaimed production, but this time as Mother Miriam Ruth, the strong-willed Mother Superior who fiercely protects Agnes and claims her pregnancy was an Immaculate Conception.
Opposing Mother Miriam Ruth’s non-scientific explanations is court-appointed psychiatrist Dr. Livingstone, played by theatre luminary Menchu Lauchengco-Yulo. She comes to examine Agnes’ mental stability and is determined to uncover the truth behind the case, all the while unexpectedly getting in touch with her own past and cause of distrust in religion.
Menchu Lauchengco-Yulo as Dr. Livingstone
Becca Coates plays the titular role of Agnes, the sweet and innocent nun with a troubled childhood. Her own physical and spiritual turmoil makes her vulnerable to the overwhelming events surrounding her. She fervently denies any knowledge and memory of the night she gave birth to a child in the convent, but she is accused of murder when the baby was found dead in a wastebasket.
This production is an emotional journey and a highly engaging drama that doesn’t back down on highlighting the difference between faith and fact as well as exploring the full range of human emotions.
What really happened that night Agnes supposedly gave birth?
Find out in REP’s Agnes of God directed by the highly-acclaimed Bart Guingona in collaboration with REP-trained and Set Design professor at Fordham University, New York, Joey Mendoza. The show will run from February 17 to March 12 at the OnStage Theater in Greenbelt 1, Makati City.

Hair, the first ever tribal love-rock musical on Broadway, is the year-end grand musicale of Repertory Philippines’ (REP) 2017 season. Relive the rocking spirit of the 60’s in this iconic production from November 17 to December 17 at the Onstage Theater, Greenbelt 1, Makati City.
Caisa Borromeo as Sheila
Set in the tumultuous 1960’s, the twenty-somethings of New York City band together to form a tribe – the hippies – as a cry of protest against the Vietnam War. The story follows native Oklahoma farm boy Claude, who meets the energetic, irrepressible tribe of Central Park hippies on his way to enlist in the US Army. This free-spirited tribe, led by the charismatic Berger, inspires Claude to rebel against the war, his parents, and society, and to assert love, peace and freedom.
George Schulze as Berger
From its groundbreaking use of rock music in theater to its fearless depiction of the decade’s stark realities - from the bohemian underground, the sexual revolution, and the violent anti-war movement- Hair is an unforgettable and iconic production that is truly a product of its time, and continues to be a relevant piece of theater up to today.
Markki Stroem as Claude
The angst and energy of the era is captured in the show’s amazing musical score with classic hits like “Let the Sun Shine In,” “Aquarius,” and “Good Morning Starshine.” Hair even won the 1969 Grammy Award for Best Score from An Original Cast Show Album, while its 2009 Broadway revival earned the Tony Award for Best Revival of a Musical.

On The Menu: Repertory Philippines' THE PRODUCERS
“THE PRODUCERS,” THE HAPPIEST AND GAYEST MUSICAL IN THE UNIVERSE, ALL SET TO OPEN ON NOV. 15
THE PRODUCERS, the biggest hit in Broadway history, is all set to conquer Manila’s theater scene when the musical opens on November 15 at Onstage, Greenbelt 1, Makati City.
Presented by Repertory Philippines in celebration of its 46th year, THE PRODUCERS (based on Mel Brooks’s 1968 hit movie) has become a Broadway phenomenon, turning the tradition of a Broadway musical on its head more than any other show in the history of the Great White Way. With a run of over 2,500 shows on Broadway, over two years at London’s Theatre Royal Drury Lane and many hundreds of shows performed on tour and international productions, THE PRODUCERS is one of the most highly awarded musicals, having received 12 Tony Awards and 10 Drama Desk Awards in 2001 and three Laurence Olivier Awards in 2005. A remake of the big-screen version in 2005 featured Nathan Lane and Matthew Broderick, the stars of the original Broadway production, as well as Uma Thurman and Will Ferrell.
Written by Hollywood comic veteran Mel Brooks (creator of SPACEBALLS, BLAZING SADDLES, and YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN, among many others), and Thomas Meehan (HAIRSPRAY), with songs arranged by Glen Kelly and Doug Besterman, THE PRODUCERS is a story about Max Bialystock, a struggling Broadway producer and Leo Bloom, a stage-struck accountant. These two men join forces in order to make mega-bucks by producing the worst musical ever seen on Broadway. When they receive a musical script from Franz Liebkind, an ex-Nazi stormtrooper, which tells the story of Hitler’s rise to power in song and dance, they are convinced that they have found a show that is guaranteed to offend just about everybody. The Philippine production of THE PRODUCERS will be directed by Jaime del Mundo, with the able support of top caliber actors CARLO OROSA and ROBIE ZIALCITA alternating as Max Bialystock, the down-on-his-luck theatrical producer and a shameless con man facing bankruptcy, who woos little old ladies into backing his shows.
TOPPER FABREGAS takes on the role of Leopold ‘Leo’ Bloom, a mousy mild-mannered accountant who transitions from an uptight corporate drone to a freewheeling Broadway playboy.
Media icon G TÖNGI will tackle the role of Ulla, a blonde Swedish bombshell who auditions for the show and becomes Max and Leo’s secretary/receptionist.
Actor-director JOEL TRINIDAD plays Franz Liebkind, a former Nazi whose play is chosen by Max and Leo as a definite flop.
Stage and screen veteran NOEL TRINIDAD (Joel’s father) takes on the role of Roger De Bris, the flamboyant homosexual cross-dresser chosen to direct the show. He will be alternating with role of Roger with one of the icons of Philippine musical theater AUDIE GEMORA.
Versatile actor NOEL RAYOS will take the role of Carmen Ghia, Roger’s “common law assistant.”
The ensemble is composed of Nelsito Gomez, Steven Conde, Tristan Cheng, Jay Pangilinan, Chino Veguillas, Leroy de Guzman, Natalie Everett, Daff Abear, Liesl Batucan, Mica Pineda, Shalee Vicencio, and Gemini Quintos.
Co-presented by the City of Makati, THE PRODUCERS promises to be a Broadway thrill ride, with silly gags, irreverent humor, and show-stopping musical numbers at every turn.
The show runs from November 15 to December 15, 2013, with shows on the following dates:

G: Well I promise to do my best and I hope theater-goers will give me a chance as I really want to improve in my craft as an actress, singer, dancer on and off TV, be nice to me. (she laughs)
G is really one of the amazing local celebrities, I remember couple of years ago when she decided to try Hollywood and eventually she got couple of breaks. She will always be remembered as the pioneer MTV VJ and the original Dancing Diva.
