SOMEONE WAS CURIOUS!Alright so here is the storyJoshua was a pretty common dude that lived in a house that was big enough for him…and 1 to 2 other people.  He had some friends that he would hang out with and they would watch TV (He is a Variety show nut…just for odd trivia) Well one day he got a phone call from a friend of his that wanted him to come to a party.  Josh was cool with this and agreed to go (even if he wanted to see how the latest episode of this show he was watching was gonna go) and his friend asked him to bring a sword with him that he was going to auction off at this party.Now the sword is important because you see it was one that was passed down through this friend’s family.  He wanted to sell it though because his mother was a royal pain in his ass and his father…well he didn’t give shit one about him!  Josh knew this and was more than willing to part with the item that was in many ways causing this dude problems.  Yeah it was partly why he had it but he just wanted it GONE and figured if he could sell it to an overseas party that would be the end of his problems.The thing is…It became a big part of Joshua’s problems…sort of!See the blade that he had was coveted by members of different factions in the country.  ONE would happen to be the Tsukinami clique (we will call them the “Founders” from this point on) and they wanted this to make sure they could put an end to the problem that would be an “alliance” of sorts between two families.  I THINK you know where this is goingSo its about 5 PM and Joshua’s friend was sending a car to pick him up.  Josh EASILY could have gone on his own but what the hell his friend insisted so why the heck not?When the car came at about quarter to 6 he was ready and dressed appropriately in a tux and so forth because he knew that his friend was a pretty high class dude…it was going to be a pity that he wouldn’t make it!And two groups knew this…The one family that was keeping a close eye on the cars that went up and down the road that night was watching from a home not to far from the narrow road that was going to be the scene for an “incident”.  The main “watcher” was looking further up the road because in the back of his mind he knew another head of the house was going to be watching as wellAnd he was right!Watching from a house further back almost damn near secluded from the road a gent wearing a grey blazer and a black turtleneck was reading a book but also keeping a keen eye on the road from his position.  He knew that something would be amiss so that became a constant worry as the cars zipped up and down an otherwise unvisited area of the country.As Joshua’s car made its way to the fated section of road he could feel a presence in the back seat with him.  A turn to his left and he saw a white haired man with a red garment on and neither said anything.  It was as if this person knew Joshua’s fate that was going to happen and he knew that wherever he was going to end up he would be in good hands!A few feet later tells the storyAs if it was a sixth sense Josh could feel that they were about to hit something bad and quickly grabbed the case with the sword and tried to leap out of the car before the blast!  He was narrowly successful HOWEVER he was thrown far enough to bump and bang up into a tree and the force of the blow pretty much knocked him out!  As he faded however he used his strength to see the man that was mentioned walking to him and a frown came across his face but not because of what happened but more because SOMEONE wanted to try to kill this person!“Hey Ruki” A blonde man asked “what should we do here?  He looks like he was injured pretty badly doesn’t he?” The Blonde asked Ruki and he nodded“We have been told that if any mortal gets injured because of ‘those people’ to help them.  We must do what is asked and I have a feeling that this man saw our boss.  I hope he comes to visit him if the time comes” Ruki explained and meanwhile an auburn haired man carefully picked Joshua up while The blonde picked up the case with the weapon.  Somehow amongst the damage the weapon wasn’t banged up or dented and that was to the credit of the way it was packed…what other reason was there!About a day or two later and Joshua woke up in the house after being KO’d for so long and sitting beside him was in fact Ruki“You’re finally awake.  I didn’t think that blow was that bad but you must have needed the rest?” Ruki asked in a rather flat/cold manner but at the same time he WAS concerned.  The explosion that would kill any normal mortal somehow just knocked him for a loop!  They were lucky!“Yes well I wasn’t expecting to get thrown from a car two days ago!  I was supposed to go to a party and that happened!” Joshua shot back although within seconds he realized how he came off and apologized“I understand.  We have been hearing reports that things were going amiss in this part of the area and people are having this happen for seemingly no reason.  We were on the lookout along with another family and one of their heads is on their way over.” Ruki explained and then when he saw the other gent make his way towards the room (well more like he heard him) he was pretty much fearing for his life!“Is this the man that was injured in the accident?” The gentlemen asked wearing a black trenchcoat, grey sweater vest and square rimmed glasses.  Joshua took one look at the man and he knew he recognized him from somewhere but it wasn’t coming to him…then again he was still in a bit of a fog so that could be a problem

“This is Reiji and from what we know his name is Joshua.  He was on his way to a party when the explosion happened but we have no idea who was behind it just speculation.” Ruki explained and as he did Joshua tried to sit up but the pain in his back from the accident shot through him like a hot knife!“Don’t move…the pain will only get worse and your breathing is going to be shit for the next few days” Ruki commented and Joshua just did as he was asked and tried to ask ANYTHING about what happened but truthfully it was still under investigation by the “Sakamaki Investigation Team” of Shuu, Laito and Subaru.  Yeah quite a pair but the thing Josh needed to worry about was getting better…this was going to be a problem!“Give it time and it will heal.  Reiji is also going to bring some stuff to try and help your pain but the taste…might take some getting used to.” Ruki explained and Reiji even nodded.  He works on special teas usually for his own tastes but since he met a girl named Yui Kimori that changed and tried to tailor them more to what Humans are used to…he’s still working on it!After some more brief banter between the two heads of their respective houses the door quietly clicks shut and Joshua is alone again.  Breathing is a problem and he is trying to think about how to explain this situation to his friend.  What he kind of figured out though just from briefly looking at Reiji was that…he wasn’t human but then again he KNEW THAT because he heard about a “Pureblood Vampire” family that lived in a big mansion and he heard about Reiji taking charge of it.  He wanted to try and to talk to the man but that wasn’t happening in his condition3 days later and things got interesting!So the members of the house had come to visit Joshua while he was resting.  The Blonde was a vamp named Kou, the Brown-haired gent was Yuuma and then of course he met a very quiet Azusa!  Alright the story there is even funnier because when he met him Joshua had just woken up from a nap and Asuza’s eyes peeked above the side of the bed and if his back could have taken it he would have jumped 15 feet in the air!Despite the seemingly cold greeting that Joshua got from Ruki the house was a lot more warm and inviting that he originally thought and even Yuuma was kind of nice to talk to.  Each one though DID hint about their “Boss” wanting to talk to Joshua and he knew who they meant.  The man that Joshua saw before the explosion and that was someone that he personally wanted to talk to because…had it not been for seeing him in the limo he MIGHT NOT have made it out of the vehicle!The next dayThe “Mukamis” as Joshua found out they were called as a family had headed off to the school that they were attending and Joshua was alone in the house.  He had recovered enough to have a proper breakfast and lunch with the clan and would make his own dinner.  He also gave himself to them if they wanted as a way of repaying the debt for his rescue.  What became more interesting was the one that got tempted the hardest WAS Ruki and that became an interesting note not only to Joshua but everyone else INCLUDING the man he was going to see againAs Joshua walked through the foyer to look at the paintings and such that lined the halls he could feel someone in the room and without hesitation knew what must be done!“I KNOW YOU’RE HERE…COME ON OUT SO WE CAN TALK!” Joshua hollered and the echo bounced off the walls of the area BUT…the man wasn’t going to keep Joshua waiting“Hello Joshua.  I trust that you have been resting well?  Ruki has told me that your injuries from your accident have healed well and that you became quite giving since you could walk out of your room.  I’m surprised someone of mortal flesh would be so willing for someone they just met but a part of me wonders if this is out of repayment or duty?” The man asked and Joshua knew not to lie here“If both is an acceptable answer than I’ll take that.  Lord Ruki helped me as did the rest of those boys.  They didn’t have to nor did the other gent that showed up here…Reiji correct?” Joshua asked and the man nodded.  He was also surprised by the title of that Joshua addressed Ruki with…”Lord”?“You Humans never cease to amaze me.  You gave Ruki that title despite barely knowing him?  Well then I see it better fit to give you the name of the person with whom you are speaking and the name is KarlHeinz.” The individual explained and Joshua just nodded and then spoke.“Mr. Heinz I…” But Joshua was caught off guard by a chuckle from the man“Please Joshua…no formalities just Karl will do” he explained and Joshua started over“Karl I am forever in the debt of the people that were willing to help me get here and recover from my injuries.  I am in the debt of the boys that are investigating what the hell happened a few days later.  I give my blood to them as thanks because for me if I didn’t get rescued I shudder to think what would happen if WHOMEVER was behind that explosion got to me after the fact…I might not be here!” Joshua exclaimed and Karl could sense the sincerity in Joshua’s voice but what he wasn’t expecting was what Joshua did next!Joshua walked up closer to the man and then stopped and got down on one knee with his head lowered and his hand over his heart.  What in the HELL was he thinking!“Karl” Joshua began “Please allow me to serve Master Reiji Sakamaki and Lord Ruki Mukami as thanks for what they have done to help me.  Allow me to be the Mortal Vanguard of those families and protect them in the future should any hardships come.  Allow me to become a part of your family as a Mortal Officer!” Joshua exclaimed and when he looked up with his stern expression Karl knew he was serious…he wasn’t about to deny this man what he wanted“I wasn’t expecting this but…please rise Joshua.” Karl commanded and Joshua did as asked“Its rare that we get human ,or as you call them ‘Mortal Visitors’, but then again they aren’t going places other than school or staying home.  I can sense the sincerity in your voice and your soul and your loyalty and dedication that you swear to not just Ruki…but also Reiji is very interesting and I know that in their minds and souls that they know you feel the way you do and they would be very happy to have you…request GRANTED!” Karl shouted and Joshua bowed in appreciation…there was something else though that needed to be done!“If you will recall there was a sword that you had at the time of the blast.  I told the person that was to get it that the item now belongs to us and the reason is simple:  I knew there was a possibility you would come and ask to be one of our soldiers and I needed to know that you were serious and you clearly are.  THEREFORE the sword that you had has been reinforced and forged in a special way!  Allow me to present you back your sword and with that please accept this jacket” Karl ordered and Joshua took back his sword and when he put on his jacket he knew one thingWhomever wanted him dead was someone that was very deranged and more than likely wanted him dead before he EVER could get to someone like Karl and the Mukamis.  NOW he works with them and the Sakamakis not just to uncover the who and the why but to also learn about parts of his past that Joshua NEVER knew existed!
