Never have I ever made a paragraph so fast to write about an Au of Clover living without their soul, Flowey having to be Clovers support, Clover being to forced to drink caffeine and energy drinks 24/7 to function, and Frisk meeting another human who looks so dead and seems to be on life support with energy drinks.
Welcome to my Undertale: Yellow ‘Revived!Clover’ AU
Where your now crippled Cowboy is forced to drink caffeine and energy drinks to function properly, while having no soul whatsoever.

I find it a little funny how much the Deltarune fandom has disconnected the Player from us, basically treating the concept of “the player” as it’s own character. Is this how Flowey felt?
i mean, from my perspective, isn’t it kind of encouraged? we start out the game by making an avatar, even if it gets discarded. we play the game as the soul, not kris, and our presumed role in the game is to literally look into a window of a different world and play the game. our existence as a player is crucial to deltarune’s story
i think with all of that, its understandable that different interpretations of how the soul behaves would pop up — established beings with personalities can only be described as Characters, at least to me. a lot of player interpretations ive seen are actively brought to life by people’s thoughts and feelings about the game, they dont just come out of nowhere.
ive said it before, but my particular player-character more so represents the kind of player that treats the world as if its fictional (i.e. they dont care about hurting a character’s feelings or something like that, they just want to see what happens). despite this, the characters are still interesting, so they shamelessly poke and prod and pick them apart to try to understand what’s going on in their heads. (a lot of them comes from my own attitudes actually, which maybe makes sense from the different scenarios i put them in. what i do is literally what my player does.)
it’s like, personifying the force that pushes kris and noelle into the weird route, which makes sense because there’s some weird Being with impossible motives controlling kris. what do we want, and what do they want? i think its too interesting to NOT explore…
#sorry for being long winded lol#again i hope ididnt wildly misunderstand your ask#mailbox#also i didnt really know what you meant by the flowey bit gomen#like#flowey as a reflection of the player?#maybe kind of but its not exactly the same

Second big project I have in mind!!!
This ones been in the ol noggin for…flips through papers at least a year.
ILOVETHEYMIGHTBEGIANTSILOVETHEYMIGHTBEGIANTSILOVETHEYMIGHTBEGIANTSILOVETHEYMIGHTBEGIANTS
I really enjoy Flowey and Papyrus’ relationship, and honestly don’t find any interpretation of it as extremely offensive cause IT IS REALLY WEIRD Some people are like Forgettable AU and others are like Flowey Is Not A Good Life Coach ITS QUITE A SPECTRUM- and those are my 2 favorite Undertale fan creations so YIPPEE!!! I do not support the creator of Flowey Is Not A Life Coach btw- i found out about their other fics like months after I finished it
I think this song does it justice in the VIBE and the constant “im your friend, but im not really your friend, well actually im your only friend” LIKE THATS SO THEM NO MATTER WHAT INTERPRETATION YOU FOLLOW
im definitely gonna TRY to make at least a whole storyboard/animatic (i have no problem showing the whole plan i had cause ITS DEFINITELY OUTDATED I MADE IT A YEAR AGOEDHHDSHB)
lastly, proof that I used to fucking love they might be giants (and still do) (and that i have been thinking about this with an undertale amv for a while)

#the thing thats so cool about their relationship is Flowey is like a reflection of the player yeah?#and he finds him the most fun/interesting character because WE’RE SUPPOSED TO FEEL THAT WAY TOO#or at least thats how I see it#also they had matching scarfs on the Clock App…..#theyre both the ultimate pacifists#or at least Asriel was#I NEED THEM TO HAVE A FUNNY INTERACTION IN DELTARUNE PLEASEEEE#I wish i could give very direct pieces of lyrics that make me go ITS SO THEM!!#but i just cant IT JUST FEELS RIGHT??? IDK HOW TO EXPLAIN IT#i highly recommend the song even if you dont think it matches that dynamic#it slaps either way#tho I CAN explain my thought process with the whiteboard sketches!!!#Flowey finds Papyrus interesting and charming ye? ‘He watches over you’#and ‘Im the only bee in your bonnet’ like hes Papyrus’ only friend that…doesnt….always do the greatest things#hes the only friend that feels ‘wrong’ ofc Papyrus doesnt exactly identify that#also just the repeated theme of Make A Little Birdhouse In Your Soul#Like Flowey is making himself right at home in Papyrus’ soul hes got full control of everyone with the resets#and Papyrus is his favorite guy

Cringe is dead and I’m redesigning my old UT/DR OC/Self-Insert: Echo (she/they)

Info dump about them below the cut!
So I originally made them in the wake of Deltarune’s release, when the whole “we, the players, are possessing Kris 😱” thing was very fresh and the whole Undertale Multiverse was still going strong. So naturally they started out as basically a self insert, the version of me that played Undertale and later Deltarune.
So a quick rundown of their lore (btw I make no apologies for the Mary Sue aspects of this):
They originally controlled Frisk, doing several different Runs, endlessly curious about the world
At the end of their most recent True Pacifist they find their way back in the True Lab and into a part of it they hadn’t seen before
While exploring they accidentally activated a machine from before Alphys’s time and get Gastered
…kind of
Instead of being fully “shattered across space and time” they’re just… slightly fractured across space and time
Tbh I like to think of it like they got hurled full force at the 4th wall and got stuck in it like jello

Not really breaking the 4th wall so much as jiggling it aggressively and gaining an new kind of perspective
This had some interesting consequences, including (but not limited to):
separating from Frisk (who runs out of the Lab in fear) and gaining a physical form of their own
the ability to slip into different universes at a whim
the inability to talk normally, now effectively “speaking” in text box noises (lmao get Animal Crossing-ed idiot) and thus can’t be understood by most people (with a few exceptions)
the ability to posses objects and other people (which they do feel the need to sometimes as their true form is off putting to most, though they try not to possess people if they can help it)
others probably? haven’t quite figured that out yet
Which these newfound abilities, they decide to explore the multiverse and see all the interesting things it has to offer
But first, they decide they want a traveling companion, so they don’t get lonely
And they know the perfect candidate, someone who understands what it’s like to have unfathomable power and the want to explore all possibilities with that power for your own entertainment and curiosity’s sake
Someone who really doesn’t have anything left to seek in this world
And damn it if Flowey isn’t very interested in that offer
This arrangement is a strangely balanced symbiosis
For Flowey:
traveling the multiverse gives him a kind of clean slate he could never achieve on his own, especially with the loss of his reset powers
the multiverse is also very interesting and fun to explore
they know what he’s been through and what kind of a person that’s made him better than anyone else. they understand it, and they know to judge him for it would be hypocritical
For Echo:
so long as Flowey is attached to them in some capacity he can understand their strange “speech” and frequently acts as a translator (they are also learning sign language to ease that burden)
he’s far more experienced in battle and frequently acts as protection in more aggressive universes
re: the point about mutual understanding
Flowey is also unable to absorb their soul, which means his power over them is limited and if he crosses a line they’re fully able to ditch is ass in any universe they want
It’s notable that while Echo’s curiosity can occasionally override their morality, they’re still more inclined to chose the kinder option
I consider them to be chaotic neutral, leaning towards chaotic good
(I also personally see Flowey as somewhere between true neutral and chaotic neutral, occasionally slipping into chaotic evil. What can I say, he’s a nuanced guy)
Anyway, they travel the multiverse together, experiencing new things, seeing interesting sights, causing chaos
Eventually they find themselves in the Deltarune side of the multiverse
The universe they end up in is one where the entity possessing Kris is an incredibly malevolent one
Or I should say, the entity that was supposed to be possessing Kris
As Echo senses the Bad Vibes approaching this random human child, they say “absolutely the fuck not” and possess Kris themself to block the entity
This does mean they have to drop Flowey to do this, so he’s just kinda in the background for the time being
From there it’s basically just Chapter 1 until the point when Kris rips out the soul and goes to eat some pie
While they’re distracted, Flowey climbs in and breaks open the cage so Echo can unpossess the soul and leave now that the malicious entity is gone
They do decide to stick around and check out these Dark Worlds
Luckily for them, while they were busy dealing with the classroom Dark World, Flowey took the time to explore the town and found this perfectly good empty vessel that someone seems to have discarded
Deciding not to question it, they possess the vessel and wait for a new Dark World to open so they can explore it together
And that’s the basics of their story (or as much of it as I have ironed out lol). Hopefully this hyperfixation stays with me cuz I’d love to explore their character a lot more 😁
#unfortunately I couldn’t find the original drawings in the piles of old sketchbooks ripppp#the hooded dark world from was what I originally came up with based on Kris’s design#but then I decided if this is basically a self insert that doesn’t even have much to do with Kris themself#then it should probably reflect me more#and damn if I don’t love me some pirates#goner ghost au#undertale#deltarune#deltarune vessel#undertale oc#deltarune oc#my ocs#oc echo#echo the goner ghost#flowey#flowey the flower#the dork doodles

Thinking about susie telling kris their family is weird in chapter 4 in the diner. we know for sure we're gonna get more of her interacting w Toriel in chapter 3, but Susie didn't say their MOM was weird.
*sideyes the latest newsletter* chapter 4 progress updates. asgore inclusion finally. stuff from his flower shop. FLOWEY.
CHAPTER 4 FLOWER SHOP DARK WORLD IM BEGGING...
I'm also still standing by the idea that we'll meet Asriel before chapter 7. Toriel says in chapter 1 that Asriel will visit 'next week', not IN a week. And in chapter 2 we seem to be reaching the weekend...
AND IF ASRIEL DOES VISIT SOONER... PAPYRUS SOONER TOO. SANS SAID WE SHOULD PROBABLY SEE HIM WHEN KRIS' BROTHER COMES HOME.
#xan's thoughts#IDK JUST WORD VOMIT HERE BUT LIKE. ASGORE SOON PLEASE???? 😭#AND EITHER AZZY OR A FUCKED UP DELTARUNE REFLECTION OF FLOWEY IN A DARK WORLD#OR BOTH#i still want the chapter 3 secret boss to be some fucked up flower loosely resembling flowey that uses purple soul mode tbh#deltarune#utdr

🎉♥Happy 8th anniversary Undertale✨🎊
Today marks 8 years since this gem of the video games came to light and to celebrate I did something special with my au.You already know Madfri,Charness,Flowey and Kris but taking advantage of this I wanted to introduce Madness!Temmie (Tami) along the way to present her,by the way I want to share something that I had in me for a long time even before starting Madnesstale definitively.
⚠Warning:This is gonna be long and also talks about things i didn't share with anyone until now so i don't know i someone its gonna be offended. If you wanna give your opinion in the comments please do it with respect. With that say here we go.
I found Undertale in 2016 when I was 12 years old,at that time I wanted to dedicate myself to drawing but I was going through a difficult time and my depression was beginning to arise, giving me a large series of problems along with a lot of regrets that haunt me to this day. Thanks to the game, its community and its aus I began to feel better and I was able to get inspired again to do my projects and in this way help others or inspire them.
With all this,I also had the intention of making my own au and in that way contributing to the community, but the problem is that no matter what concept or name I gave it,they were all already taken. It wasn't until August 2020 that I decided to take it up again,I didn't have Internet at that time and I was bored wandering in my thoughts and looking at the gallery on my phone until I saw several images of series and video games and a fanart of Frisk in Wonderland that everything began to form and that was when everything was decided.
I started slowly since I had no experience drawing monsters,so I decided to go with the humans first and tried to make the plot of the history, what to do with each character,if include Deltarune, etc. Thanks to the fact that I took the end of 2021 and more than half of 2022 on sabbatical before going to college It helped me not only work on the au,but also on my other projects and I also looked for inspiration in youtubers, video games of all kinds, series, cartoons, anime and more to have more ideas,I even went back to watch the first season of Underverse and finally see the story of Xtale for it,both incredible projects of course...But when I saw the first episodes of the second season of Underverse everything took an unexpected turn for me.
At first I was excited,I hadn't started watching it until they released the first part of episode 0.7,everything was going well until I saw episode 0.6,to avoid spoilers for those who haven't seen it I'll say a little about what happens. From the events of the first season of the series,Cross arrives in the Omega Timeline,a place created by Core! Frisk and habitants of Aus that no longer exist or from genocide routes who only want to live in peace, the residents of all aus from the multiverse are temporarily there (Except the original universe)because their homes were destroyed by Error!Sans and they wouldn't come back to them until further notice.During the episode Cross is angry about the current situation happening apart related with his au and being in the omega timeline even though he told Core that he would go for his friends to the point that he pushes to Dream who only wants to help him and he is already hurt,he decides to give up and falls into a deep negativity which brings many problems, but it helps him remember the purpose for which he fights, redeem himself from his mistakes and accept Dream's help. You can see it is a great evolution in Cross as a character but now comes the question¿What is my problem with this episode?¡None! The truth is this is one of my favorite episodes of the series so far since you can see the work and quality that Jakei puts in their projects as well as the large number of aus that the Undertale community has created, but this is what happens.
When I watched the episode you would think that I was very happy and excited like everyone else and I was,but after see it I started to feel angry with Core for the way she acted that seemed indifferent to everything and everyone's attitude towards Cross that later they acted as if nothing happened between him and Dream and decided to support them later during the battle of the episode so he could win,so I ended up relating it to hypocrisy and feeling bad for Cross along with great anger and frustration. But some time later after I calmed down,I decided to watch the episode again and I realized that I made a big mistake and came to conclusions without thinking beforehand.Although Core seems indifferent and doesn't care about others unless it's for her convenience, she really does and in Part of it can be reflected in his attitude towards Cross when he expresses concern for him as well as for others and it is true that everyone reacted badly because Cross pushed Dream and his hostility, but it was nothing else because of that, they did not blame him for what happened to their worlds since Error was who did that and in the fight he decided to redeem himself and trust Dream and when everyone tries to help them they generate positive feelings and during this it is seen in the dialogues that they are supporting Dream but also Cross as I think they realized he tried to redeem himself and that's why they supported him.
Thanks to this I was able to reflect and realize that the anger I felt was not because of the episode but because I didn't feel capable of achieving with Madnesstale or my other projects the same as the rest of the creators of aus or Jakei herself and not becoming part of something like this and started feeling powerless and useless, but along with that I could see that I identified with Cross in many aspects since I also have many regrets and I want to redeem myself from them and improve as a person.Despite to all this bad experience that I created and that keeps coming and going even until now,I remind myself that I should not let it affect me and remember again and again that I managed to realize that I was wrong and see the positive as that I am already contributing little by little with the community.Even over the years I still love Undertale and what this wonderful community has created that continues strong despite the years and that has served as a great source of inspiration for what I want to do in the future.
If you have read this far, thank you very much for taking the time to read my story, relief and analysis. The truth is that I have not told anyone about this since I have no one to talk to about these types of things and even if I told someone online It could seem uncomfortable and I want to avoid having problems of any kind due to bad experiences in the past.I also cried writing all this and honestly i feel better with everything and myself.Even if no one see this or don't care, especially because this account is recent and doesn't have so much followers,i'm glad to vent out about this and keep going with my goals.
With that said Happy Anniversary Undertale and tha still receiving more love ahead in the future. ♥

Deltarune: The Image of Divinity and The Angel
(MASSIVE SPOILERS FOR CH 4 of DELTARUNE and UNDERTALE)
If you haven't found this scene, go back to the room where you have to avoid a bunch of Shadow Blobs shortly after reaching the Third Sanctuary. Find a way into the hidden room on the bottom right-side of the room (follow the broken path) and you'll see this at the right side of the hall.

This string of dialogue, especially Susie's uneasy reaction, creeps the hell out of me.
Whatever the Angel's identity is, its physical form is something so terrifying and beyond comprehension that even in the minimalistic style the Prophecy normally uses, Susie is stunned by the implications of just looking at it.
One brilliant theory that I've heard a couple of people mention already is that the empty space is meant to reflect our screens like a black mirror. We are The Angel in this interpretation.
That's just crazy, and I'm very into it.
I'd like to delve a little further into this train of thought that may or may not confirm this theory further.
Remember what the Titan looks like right before we fight it?
BALD
It's a human skull. Maybe even what the Titan's skeleton looks like underneath its divine angelic flesh.
When I first got to this section, I almost thought that the Titan would just be a full on human JPEG like Photoshop Flowey was in Undertale.
Speaking of which...
What... is this even supposed to be?
This is one facet of Undertale that's always been neglected because we've never found any concrete answers for what it could be.
For all we're concerned, it's just part of the absurd horror imagery that Toby is trying to invoke during this section, and we're not meant to think too hard on it.
Except...
Toby used this face as his pfp on Twitter until the release of Deltarune Ch 1. So either he's really proud of the damn face or there's something more to it.
I don't really have an answer for this, but what I will guess right now is:
I think this is what the Angel looks like.
Not the Omega Flowey face specifically, but it's likely a pixelated human face.
Consider the similarities between these examples. This distorted human imagery has been used twice to depict divine beings.
One showing Flowey ascending to a higher state of existence.
The other shows a nigh-unstoppable world-ending monster only depicted in legend.
And The Angel is something akin to Deltarune's Abrahamic God or The Savior. Churches and an entire religion are dedicated to The Angel, yet we only see it depicted as the symbol of the Deltarune.
Let's take a few steps back and return to the "The Angel is The Player" theory.
There's actually one big piece of evidence for this theory in Undertale:
Ominous how early Toby planted these seeds huh?
In Undertale, The Angel is 100% meant to be You on each of the 3 playable routes. Now "You" is a bit subjective because that noun could be applied to 3 candidates:
You "The Player"
Frisk the MC you control
Chara, the true identity of the red SOUL
Regardless of who The Angel refers to in this messed-up trio, one very bold statement is conveyed.
The Angel decides the ending of the story.
And we, as The Player, get to decide how this ending plays out.
To the characters of Undertale and Deltarune, yeah, that's divine power alright. A power that Spamton considered his ticket to [Heaven].
If this theory holds true, then that means a person behind the screen is the image of divine power. In Undertale/Deltarune The image of God is...
A REAL human.

A lot of Deltarune… isn’t quite a refutation or counterargument to Undertale’s themes as much as it is going, like, “I mean, you’re not wrong… but it’s a bit more complicated than that sometimes”. Or, like, elaborating on nuances that were present in Undertale but weren’t given as much focus as Deltarune, as a much longer and more complex game building on Undertale’s themes, can give them.
And it happens most often with Ralsei. Ralsei’s worldview often seems to be an oversimplified and corrupted reflection of Undertale’s themes. Exaggerating them and stripping them of their nuances so that the other characters (mostly Susie) can respond to them and re-introduce nuances and complications back into them.
Most obviously this is done in Chapter 1 with his ultra-Pacifistic and ultra-nice attitude to conflict. His views at the start were a lot more simplified than Undertale, as even a True Pacifist Playthrough requires one to defeat Asgore and Flowey through violence at least once. Plus a bunch of times where Sparing an enemy required an acknowledgment that they can’t be appeased or convinced to back down from a fight. There was sometimes a bit of trickery involved, rather than just 'being nice'.
But these nuances weren’t really Undertale’s narrative focus, the focus was on selling the Player on the value of Pacifism in the first place. So Ralsei’s oversimplification of the idea is a good basis for Deltarune to start putting these nuances to the forefront of the story and really focusing on them, now that Undertale has already established the baseline of “even Random Encounters can be real people with feelings and you should always strive to non-violence.”
And I think a similar thing is kinda happening with his whole…
Which feels to me very reminiscent of…
Like, okay, it is very thematically important that Asriel can’t be ‘saved’ in Undertale. The Royal Siblings Tragedy is a traumatic shadow looming over so many characters in the game, and it’s not something that can be perfectly fixed by being nice or even with Unkillable Time God Powers. Toriel and Asgore and, yes, Flowey/Asriel himself all have character arcs centered around moving on from the tragedy and accepting the present, and would be weakened if a Player could just… magically fix things.
But that doesn’t mean that doesn’t hurt to hear Asriel be so resigned to his fate. Susie Deltarune’s reaction to hearing Ralsei speak so plainly about the idea that he’s just an illusion and that she should prioritize her ‘Real Friends’ very much echoes the emotional reactions of most Undertale Players seeing Asriel ask them to not worry about him and focus on their real friends because he’s already doomed. And in both cases it’s extremely understandable.
The fact that even with Unkillable Time God Powers, the past is the past and there is a value in acceptance and moving on is itself an important nuance in Undertale’s central theme of Determination. With enough Willpower and Defiance, the Player can defy the concept of a kill-or-be-killed world, and free the Monsters from their seemingly hopeless prison, and resist the laws of death and time… it’s a power that comes from a refusal to accept the inevitable. But if you deny everything that goes against your personal will, you’re gonna end up like Flowey, utterly consumed by grief and denial over Chara’s death.
Flowey has to accept that the game between him and the Player is going to end, Asriel has to accept Chara is dead, Asgore has to accept his family will never truly return to what it was before, the Player also has to accept the game is over and that replaying it will just tear away the characters from their happy ending, and that the Asriel they saw at the True Pacifist Ending is gone.
But even with all of that… that doesn’t lessen the emotional pain of watching a little goat boy asking you very kindly and very genuinely to abandon him. It doesn’t make it any less valid for one’s reaction to be “Well, who said I have to leave and forget you? I’m sure that with the pure strength of my heart and the Power of Friendship(TM) I could save you too!!”. It doesn’t make it any less heartbreaking, even frustrating, that this is the thing the game ask you to give up on.
Undertale already added some nuance to the situation, first things first, Asriel does honestly appreciate it if you go all the way back to the start of the game and talk with him. Although he still feels that he's doomed, at least he accepted that Frisk is going to remember him.
Secondly, with Flowey’s Post-Pacifist Dialogue
And especially that Winter Alarm Clock Dialogue…
…both showing that while there was nothing that could be done to stop Asriel from turning back into Flowey, that does not necessarily mean Flowey is doomed. Despite his claims both in his Flowey form and as Original Flavor Goatboy Asriel, Flowey does still show hints that he cares for other people, that he has been truly affected by the events of the True Pacifist Playthrough, that the heart he had as Asriel isn’t actually truly gone…
We’re still dealing with the fact that we can’t undo the trauma of the Royal Siblings Tragedy but… Just because Flowey can’t be magically turned back into the person he was before his Trauma, doesn’t mean he is doomed. What happened happened, but he is still capable of healing and self-improvement. And although he’s still kind of in the margins of the Post Pacifist Friend Group, it doesn’t seem like he’s just been abandoned or forgotten for the sake of the people who are more ‘real’.
So just like with Ralsei’s Pacifism, I think his fatalism and absolute lack of self-worth is an exaggerated and simplified reflection of Asriel's situation. It's kind of a Very Different Thing between Ralsei believing he's ontologically doomed to matter less than Lightners and Asriel believing he's ontologically doomed to be an asshole, but...
It still creates a basic foundation to add nuances and subversions to the point about the importance of moving on and acceptance. Not rejecting it outright, but demonstrating how seemingly clear-cut situations of acceptance can become more complicated.
Because in Susie we now have an actual character to voice the frustrations many players felt about being unable to 'save' Asriel and argue in favor of the desire to never abandon a friend, no matter how doomed or unimportant or lesser he claims he is.
Because now we can better demonstrate the more toxic and unhealthy manifestations of the idea of ‘moving on’. How it can be just as bad as clinging to the past relentlessly.
And allow more time on-screen to explore the nuanced alternatives that aren't either unhealthily clinging to the past or quietly accepting your own lousy fate.
And now we can create more situations where Susie’s instincts to reject acceptance and reject leaving anyone behind and reject ‘moving on’ are actually the unambiguously correct answers.
Not necessarily always, I do think she’ll have to accept that Gerson is dead. And obviously with this being DivorceRune the Divorce Game, the theme of needing to move on from clinging to a past that will never be restored just as you remember it is still very important.
But she has a point, and just like with Pacifism, I think she actually has an important lesson to teach Ralsei specifically.

Oh my god. I reread the comic after the last update, and THE SIGNS WERE THERE THE WHOLE TIME-
He snuck through while everyone was distracted with the fire. (See: Chaos Arc. Reread it, it was a perfect opening.)
"Runs in the family", huh, Susie...
Because he's from the other Light World/Undertale universe.

Yeah. Yeah, that sounds accurate.
Putting his parents on trial/asking for them as sacrifices as a sort of revenge for making the last of his safe place (his family) crumble

The tally marks that could be counting anything, from resets to attempts at a certain outcome to a way of trying to keep track of something real,

the twisted reflections that stare into your SOUL (or lack thereof) and remind you of your sins,

the fakeout flower creature that is obviously a representation of how he sees himself?? A disgusting, monstrous, empty beast whose only purpose is to lash out and hurt??

OF COURSE HE HAS ONE OF THOSE, HE HATES HIMSELF AND REMINDS HIMSELF OF IT ALL THE TIME
And as the cherry on top, the DETERMINATION ties in. He has enough to take back the SAVE files in the player's absence, of course he has enough to make a Dark Fountain.
Yeah, they're f(un)ked
Thank you for attending my Flowey-based TEDtalk, let's get this guy some self-esteem
Have I already said that I like it when people pay attention? Because I do!

Fanart for @sunsestart's forgettable au! :D
Rambles below the cut:
I won't be the first or likely the last to do the "after everything, it's still you" parallel, but I decided to go in a different direction. More along Flowey's path of that was once me, but that me is gone please do not look for him in me, for I will not escape his shadow if you do. And thus "It's no longer you". It could very much be a different relationship that the one you go for, but I feel that right now it's one that makes sense to me :)
YOU CAN SEE YOUR REFLECTION IN A PUDDLE, BUT DON'T LET A BODY OF WATER DETERMINE YOUR SELF-WORTH!
It took me a while to decide how to obscure Wingding's face. My latest usual choice has been a white, glowing scribble similar to the way that Lost Souls are depicted. However, it didn't quite work with all the white already in this Wingding's design (whereas I usually use black lol) so that was ditched. Next I tried red, but I couldn't get it to look Right. And then... oh I figured save star instead of a face. Enough to see the complete lack of a head behind the star. (BUT AT LEAST I HAVE MY HEAD!)
#my art#I wish I could find the other art I did I have so much more to ramble about on that one...#but hey! Still! Art achieved! I have arted!#good enough for me

Fourth Wall Fight Round 4

Flowey (Undertale) vs Mother (Shoot From the Hip - The Leftenmost Window)
Propaganda for each character below the cut! May include spoilers
Flowey
While Undertale is a game riddled with cracks in the fourth wall, Flowey is one of the only characters to directly address you, the player. If you open the game again after completing the true ending, Flowey pops up and talks to you, asking you not to reset the game in the following scene:
youtube
(Spoilers for all of Undertale) Even if for most of the game Flowey is content to watch you from offscreen, when he does talk to you he makes sure to be as threatening as possible. He reveals his knowledge of your ability to save and reset the game early on, taunting you about your mistakes and threatening to take your power back for himself. He does so at the end of the Neutral Route by hijacking six human souls and creating a pocket dimension where he can kill you forever, and when that fails he guides you towards completing the True Pacifist route, which gives him the opportunity to use the souls of all the monsters in the Underground to substitute for a seventh human soul to try and lock you in a better death loop. Over the course of several runs trying to get the golden ending, it is assumed that the player will grow to fear and then hate the little flower, which makes the No Mercy route's reversal of this dynamic more impactful. Before you, the player, entered the Underground, Flowey had control of the save file and messed around a lot with his reset powers. At first he tried to figure out how to make everyone happy, but he grew bored with that and eventually started using his powers to kill without consequences -- he started by hiding behind the excuse of being curious but then admitted he enjoyed it. He only reveals this backstory to you at the end of the No Mercy route (while also calling out playthrough watchers for "want[ing] to see it, but [being] too weak to do it themselves"), when, presumably, you have already finished the True Pacifist route and are curious about what would happen if you went in the opposite direction, making your journey the same as Flowey's. Previously, he had taken joy in goading you towards murder, even against him, but he doesn't get to appreciate that now as he realizes that you're about to kill him for real this time, and you do, as the world is destroyed about a minute later. This meta-commentary on what it means to be a player is only made possible by Flowey's ability to talk directly to you, which is impressive enough on its own, but even more impressive is that it doesn't stop at condemnation. See, after Flowey had been killing for a while, he realized that that was getting boring too, and got to the point where he ended up waiting around without resetting long enough for you to show up and usurp his power -- at first he was scared of not being in control, but then he realized that you could provide him with a fresh source of entertainment and set to work plotting how to come out on top. At the end of the True Pacifist route, you end up defeating Flowey by causing him to feel the emotions of all the souls he's absorbed, forcing him to reflect and realize that his endless fight with you -- which supposedly would cure his boredom by allowing to experience the high of killing someone who will never react the same way -- isn't actually fulfilling him, and that all he really wanted was a chance to let out the grief and fear that had consumed him for so long, for example, by yelling his issues at the only other person with first-hand experience resetting. Afterwards, he decides to give life another shot without powers and uses up his soul energy to break the barrier and let everyone go to the Surface, proving that no matter how far you let yourself go, you can still come back. (And postcanon dialogue released later suggests that he does end up finding ways to be happy.) But should you boot up the game again after the credits roll, Flowey will pop up and beg you not to reset or load your file for the sake of everyone's happy ending , and thus Undertale asks one final question -- can you too, let go of the safety of the game and move on?
He can overwite your save file, refers to everything as being a game and either calls you out for watching someone else play the bad route or not actually killing people irl.
