About that discussion you had about Scarlet Lady. If one apologises and repents, only to relapse later on, does that make the apology pretty insignificant?
If a druggie quits for two years but relapses, does it make their time clean meaningless?
If a deadbeat parent scrapes together the money and willpower to be a good part of their child's life for four years but ends up leaving again, does that make the time spent insignificant?
Do you mock someone with depression if they fall back into self-defeating habits after fighting their way briefly free?
If we judge all efforts short of perfection insignificant, then most of us do nothing 'significant' with our lives.
Tl;dr- No it does not.

As a disabled person who's loved LEVERAGE and LEVERAGE REDEMPTION since the beginning - for the characters but also the whole ethos of performing acts that help people against crap systems, it's wonderful to be reminded that it springs from reality.

If Felix wasn’t redeemed, it would be still a terrible message anyway: a grown up adult man is more capable of redemption than teenagers.
Yeah, but if we nixed the secondary redemptions of Felix and Andre, we could at least chalk it up to a 'they tried and missed.' Not every plotline will stick the landing, but you can usually see the attempt.
When you take the pattern of S5 though, it shows a fundamental disconnect with the concept of redemption on the part of the writing team. It leans into the 'People are born good or bad and that is their nature' kind of rhetoric that racists and authoritarians love.
I'd like to think the similarities are accidental, but more and more it feels like it is structural, a learned blindness over time, the product of the writing team's upbringing and insulation. I still don't think it's overt, for now.
