Good mornoon! (Morning for me, afternoon for you.) I have recently come into a quantity of marmalade. (It was $3, and the jar has a little handle and a metal lid, I would have paid $3 for just the jar but it comes with bonus marmalade.) I like marmalade on toast occasionally, but I am more of a savory breakfast person, and there are about 8 oz in this jar.
I might do some experiments, but do you have any good recipes for baking with marmalade? Or cooking with it, for that matter? Your baking always looks fantastic and you were the first people I thought of when I was wondering how to find a good recipe or two. Thank you kindly!
My immediate first though was "a great and gloriously sticky marmalade roll" as mentioned in "The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe", as I blogged about some three years ago, here.
Here's a recipe for one.
Since it calls for about twice the amount of marmalade you've got, you could either spend another $3, or halve everything and make a more personal-sized but equally sticky roll.

Now for something savoury.
You didn't specify what kind of marmalade it was, and any will work with both recipes, but Seville / "Old-Fashioned" / "Traditional" types have a slight bitter edge that works really well with savoury stuff.
Here's something my Mum used to do.
Just a mention in passing, another version used small steaks parcelled with onions, mushrooms,smoked bacon, garlic, plenty of black pepper, a teaspoonful of red wine and the same of Worcester sauce.
That recipe did NOT use marmalade. This one does... :->
Put pork chops or chicken breasts on sheets of kitchen foil and season with salt and pepper.
Top them with a mixture of marmalade, Dijon mustard, chopped onion and sliced mushrooms. Finish with a knob of butter.
Close the foil into tight parcels and put under the grill (broiler) at medium heat for about 10-15 minutes.
Open one parcel to check with a knife or skewer if the meat is done, and if necessary close the parcel and cook another 5 minutes or so.
Turn the grill right down and leave the parcels there, wrapped, while prepping the plates - green beans, carrots and white rice look and taste good.
Unwrap the parcels, turn the grill right up and get the upper surfaces of the meat dark brown (don't scorch it, burnt marmalade is nasty), then plate up, pour the sauce over and dig in. :->
Instead of individual parcels you could use an oven-to-table dish with a tight cover of foil and, once done, bring the whole thing (with a trivet!) out for people to help themselves.

What makes Cove pick the produce he gets you when you meet up again in Errands?
Not the drink he gets you at the end - that's from a step 2 choice - but there's 3 items he buys for you before you go to the first produce stand together
Is it random? Does something lead to that? Mainly I just wanna know why he gave me lemons exactly once and never again in any playthrough hdjsjs

No problem! This one I actually had looked up myself a while back so I already knew, haha. I'll also explain the drink Cove gifts the MC for those who didn't know, even though you did.
For those curious, yes, the anon is technically correct that the drink Cove gives the MC at the end of Errands is based on Step 2; specifically, it's based on the drink you request at the restaurant with Kyra and Cove. It goes like this:
Water with lemon → "small batch lemonade"
Plain water → "cool spring water"
Soda → soda of whichever flavor the MC chose ("cola soda" / "orange soda" / "grape soda" / "lemon lime soda" / "root beer soda" / "ginger ale soda")
Milk → a creamy drink based on what type the MC chose ("chocolate cream drink" / "strawberry cream drink" / "soy cream drink") except for regular milk which will turn into a "vanilla cream drink"
Juice → juice of the flavor the MC chose ("orange juice" / "apple juice") though lemonade will yield the same result as water with lemon, so it'll be the "small batch lemonade"
Coffee → will become a "coffee drink in a glass bottle" regardless of how the MC took their coffee
However, if the MC was not vegan back in Step 2 and chose milk at the restaurant, then became vegan during Step 3, they will get a "vegan cream drink" (not a specific flavor, just "vegan cream drink") from Cove.
To answer the anon's question though, what determines Cove's choice of produce when he meets up with the MC and if he picks up anything for the MC at all is based on Barbecue from Step 1 and Growing from Step 2, both of which had to have been played. Without them, Cove will simply get things for himself: onions, lemons, and sweet potatoes in that order.
If Barbecue and Growing have been played and the MC is at Fond, Crush, or Love with Cove, then:
the onions will change to any of the below if the MC made a savory sandwich in Growing and added them to it
tomatoes
red onions
cucumbers
avocados
peppers
the lemons will change to any of the below if the MC made a sweet sandwich in Growing instead and added them to it (yes, this means that either the onions or lemons Cove gets normally will not change since the MC can't make both types of sandwiches)
strawberries (regardless of whether it was strawberry jam or regular strawberries that were added)
grapes (if grape jelly)
oranges (if orange marmalade)
bananas
mangos
apples
the sweet potatoes will change to either of the below if the MC chose them for their kebab during Barbecue
zucchini
potatoes
Aaaand whichever the MC chose last during any of these will take priority, so if they chose mango slices after banana slices for their sweet sandwich, then Cove will have gotten them mangos.

The pantry was a nook, really, barely big enough to step into without your elbows grazing the walls. But since when did I get the chance to raid one?
I thought only rich people had them. Rich people with big houses! Liam’s flat hid many secrets that I was only uncovering now, gradually. The door groaned loudly when I opened it, the kind of sound that felt fitting for something this old and well-used.
Inside, it was all shelves, mismatched and slightly bowed under the weight of jars, tins, and packets crammed together. A tiny flickering lightbulb dangled from the ceiling, its glow dim yet warm, and I couldn’t help but smile as I leaned in for a closer look.
These were preserves. Dozens of full up containers, their lids gleaming faintly in the dim light. Dark reds and yellow golds and emerald greens, with handwritten labels on each one—blackberry jam, apple butter, marmalade. It made me imagine Liam sitting at a table, scrawling on scraps of paper with a leaky pen that probably didn’t work half the time.
I reached for one of the jars, turning it over in my hands. It was heavy, the glass cool against my palms, and I noticed a tiny bubble of air trapped in the amber syrup, like it had been caught mid-dance.
“Were you hoping for a free sample?”
A voice startled me, and I nearly dropped the jar.
Liam stood in the doorway, leaning casually against the frame with both hands stuffed in his pockets. His lips tugged into a smirk at my exaggerated reaction.
"You made these?" I asked, holding up the jar like proof.
He shrugged, the smirk softening into something less smug. "Aye, some of them. My ma showed me how, back when I was a kid. Kept me out of trouble for a few hours."
I set the jar back on the shelf, glancing over the rest of the pantry. There were tins of beans, packets of soup mix, and a loaf of soda bread shoved into a tin to keep it from going stale. A bottle of whiskey stood sentinel in the corner, half-hidden behind pickled onions.
"You’re secretly wholesome, you know that?" I teased, running a finger along the edge of a jar of strawberry jam.
He gave a low, throaty laugh. "Don’t go spreading that around. I’ve got a reputation to uphold."
"I like it," I said, smiling as I turned back to him. "It suits you."
"Good," he said, his voice quieter now. He stepped closer, his hand brushing against mine as he reached past me to grab a jar of marmalade. “Because if you’re staying for breakfast tomorrow, I’m making you try this."
And just like that, the thought of marmalade on toast in this tiny flat became the coziest thing I could imagine.

We had SUCH a busy weekend
Friday night we went out for dinner to celebrate Matt's brother finishing his PhD. All the family came for food and then the parents went home and we all stayed out for cocktails and actually had a lovely time considering there's been a lot of drama over the past year

Saturday we had our menu tasting and meeting with our wedding coordinators. They had set us up on the table where we'll be sitting on the day, brought us a glass of each house wine, and we had the whole room to ourselves to sit and eat. And the food was freaking delicious oh my god. Carrot & coriander soup, cheese tart w red onion marmalade, and heritage tomatoes w goats cheese for starters

We didn't try the mains but we'll be having beetroot gnocchi, mushroom & truffle risotto and something else I can't remember..

And they were all absolutely delicious. We were so excited after that meeting bc we worry about the money we're spending etc but to be honest, a lot of wedding food isn't great and we are so excited for everyone to actually really enjoy the food at ours! And it was so lovely to sit at our table and imagine what it'll be like on the day 🥹 The little tables will be pushed together to make bigger ones and I've finally finished the table plan with allocated seats and all. Sending that to them today

After that we went to my mams' for an hour as they were having a little bbq in their garden so we went just to show face. Picked Maggie up from Matt's parents' and came home, I did the grocery shopping and we went to bed early bc we were so full and nauseous from all the food 😂
Sunday, I did housework all morning, cleaned the car, picked up my bridesmaids and took them to get their dresses altered. They all look so beautiful omg. I've kept the scraps of fabric to make them each a little scrunchie or something as a thank you after the wedding bc I do not have time on my hands to be learning to sew 6 weeks before the wedding 🤣
Dropped my sisters off and stayed out for an iced coffee with my maid of honour.. we had a lovely catch up and her fiancé came to join us after a while too. Came home and refused to make dinner until I'd had a lie down out in the sun bc it was so hot and I'd been driving all day..

.. I fell asleep for 2 hours and woke up at 7.30 thankfully not burned bc I had put sun cream on before I went out, got up and made dinner in a hurry, had a bath and went to bed.
Just got back from walking Mags this morning, had breakfast, about to log on for work. I'm fucking exhausted but roll on a new week! 😂

hello there!! how's your week been? any projects, playlists, books, recipes, etc that strike your fancy to ramble about?
i've been sick this week but i am slowly overthrowing the goop that has taken over my body. putting this together has been a nice distraction, so it got super long
Knitting
just before i got sick, i put a (mostly) handspun cardigan to block. the spinning of this was a tiny bit of a spite project, based on how frequently people talk about "muddy" colors in handspun in a disparaging way. as a brown lover, i took offense and decided to make a rainbow-but-brown cardigan incorporating every technique i could think of that people tell new spinners not to use because it will muddy their yarn. the last two pics gives a vague sense of how much optical color mixing you get from afar vs. up close, but the effect works better irl.

i used 8+ years old leftover brown cascade eco for the cuffs, hem, pocket trim, and double-knit buttonband. this bit me in the ass, because i ran out with about 6" of band to go, and obviously couldn't get a dyelot match. thankfully, it was the button side of the band so the lighter bit will be mostly hidden, but i am pissed that i had to buy another 250g skein of yarn for a project where i was using up leftovers. also my button order got canceled so i need to source new ones. perhaps this project is slightly cursed. but i'll stash it away until autumn and it'll feel like i get a new sweater, just like i imagined, that i didn't even have to knit.
Spinning
currently working on two different spins, both for scarves.
on my spinolution wheel i have a brown-green-blue-white gradient destined to be woven, although i haven't been able to find the right weft yet. (fingering weight, plied, primarily nonsuperwash wool, pale pink that leans coral/orange...) i may end up dyeing it myself if i haven't found the right yarn by the time i get to weaving it.

i'm also spindling the finest yarn i possibly can, for some sort of garter stitch lace shawl situation. the fiber is a decently textured batt that includes silk nepps, so it will be gently tweedy. everyone who sees it says the fiber looks like bacon, but it's based on the dyer's cat, Mungo.

Weaving
before i got sick, my goal was to warp my loom for floral overshot kitchen towels, which is what everyone in my family will be getting as a winter holiday gift. maybe next week when i am more confident in my ability to count.

here's what's been stuck in my head lately for each language i speak. apparently i'm stuck in the 90's and very much the bug, not the windshield this week
Vittles
my go-to tea for the past 6 months has been a 50/50 mix of adagio's hazelnut and this baked apple tea. this started as an attempt to make the most autumnal tea possible (and tone down the cinnamon of the baked apple), but i recently committed to it enough to pre-mix a whole tin of it instead of just blending it in the infuser. i take it with homemade vanilla syrup and milk.
any day that i'm not eating çilbir i'm thinking about when i can have it again
i'm also obsessed with claire saffitz's gooey butter cake recipe (if you have ever wanted to just eat cake batter, this is the cake for you).
i have recently perfected my pretentious grilled cheese game with
some type of fruit preserve (i've used earl grey and apple jelly, apple butter, marmalade)
one slice of american cheese for melt
one slice of trader joe's scotch bonnet cheddar for heat
thick cut ham
homemade pickled red onions
serve with sliced cucumber or tomato sprinkled with cavender's seasoning, and/or apple slices, preferably arranged in a silly design so you feel like your adult self (sandwich) is reaching through time to shake your toddler self's (sides) hand
i've also been making what can only be described as a vaguely korean crunchwrap, which started as a fridge clean-out meal and has taken on a life of its own

speaking of rosemary, i also have the stuff to make brown butter rosemary rice krispie treats! can't wait until i have the energy to both make and eat food that's interesting again. herby sweet treats my beloved <333

Mom by her daughters
Age- 37 (immortal)
Location- Arcadia, Olympius
Personality- She's a bubbly goddess with a carefree aura. She's creative, free-spirited, & close to nature. She's a lesbian and is casually dating.
She has the standard abilities of a goddess except shapeshifting. As the goddess of substance & farm estates her other powers/abilities include karpokinesis (fruit manipulation/generation), juice manipulation, limited photokinesis, being able to telekinetically control farming equipment, limited chlorokinesis (as it pertains to hay & grass), and limited atmokinesis.
Pherusa is the mother of the seasonal goddesses- Thallo (goddess of spring & new growth), Auxo (goddess of summer, vegetation, & plants), and Carpo (goddess of autumn & fruits).
She lives in the state of Arcadia in a french style cottage. There's a few acres of farmland along with a LARGE orchard (meant for fruit production). The interior design of the cottage is very romantic and provençal with a mix of vintage and country furniture pieces, a color palette of cream, beige, tawny, pale blue, & pastel yellow, artwork with pastural or natural themes, natural hardwood flooring, and toile de juoy patterns on wallpaper & curtains.
In addition to the farm animals, she has an animal companion- a female griffin named Honey. Honey is Pherusa's usual mode of transportation when traveling great distances, like visiting her daughters in New Olympus or visiting faraway friends. She mostly gets around in her classic 70's style bright orange VW beetle.
She always starts of her mornings with a session of yoga.

Pherusa loves her "chickadees." She doesn't play favorites and loves her daughters equally. Pherusa not only makes it a priority to spend time as a family, but also individually- whether it's surfing with Auxo, bike riding with Thallo, or going to the farmer's market with Carpo. They also play music together with Pherusa being a featured artist on The Gypsy Belles' bonus track "Prairie Poets" on their album A Vintage Year.
She can play the acoustic guitar, autoharp, & the dobro!
A typical breakfast for her is belgian style whole grain waffles topped with cottage cheese, sauteed apples, maple syrup, and cinnamon sugar along with a fruit salad parfait & scrambled eggs added with sausage, onions, peppers, and tomatoes. She also likes several slices of lightly toasted white bread topped with butter & different kinds of fruit marmalades. From her own cereal brand her favorites are the summer berries flavor, the vanilla spice flakes, the apple cinnamon o's, and the oatmeal peanut butter.
Pherusa keeps her red hair in a neck length lob. She likes the Glory's Crown citrus and herbal musk shampoo & conditioner as well as the apricot oil hair spray.
Instead of perfume, she prefers to use fruit essential oils (behind her ears, inside her wrists, on her ankles, between her bosom, and on the side of her neck). Her favorite essential oils are the pink grapefruit, passionfruit, cherry, & apple.
Pherusa's closet consists of form hugging dresses, wedges, platform sandals, flowy mini skirts, bright colors, bold patterns, high waisted flare pants, and peasant blouses.
A go-to drink for her is her homemade carrot juice. She also likes coconut water, watermelon juice, citrus infused mineral water, iced tea, peach lemonade, ginger ale, pomegranate tea, lychee-passionfruit boba tea, red sangrias, aperol spritzes, orange soda, appletinis, cherry sazeracs, seabreeze cocktails, and champagne. Usuals from The Roasted Bean include a large iced green tea & an olympian sized fruit punch splash.
Pherusa's favorite makeup products to use is the Olmorfia blush powder in "strawberry crush", the plumping lip glaze in "persimmon" (a bold reddish brown), and the Museology UV liquid eyeliner in "electric shock", a bright neon yellow.
Her ultimate guilty pleasure is a large pizza topped with pineapple, yellow peppers, & jalapeños.
Pherusa's primary source of income comes from her cereal brand Golly Grains, the 2nd most popular after Earthly Harvest. Golly Grains' animated commercials and online ads are quite popular as well as its slogan- "A golly way to start your day!" To help out her daughters, she models for their clothing brand Treis Epochés.
From The Bread Box, she likes the chicken salad sandwich along with a watermelon feta salad.
Some of her favorite frozen treats include pineapple coconut ice cream, mango sorbet, and pomegranate sorbet.
In the pantheon Pherusa has a deep friendship with most of the agricultural deities like Demeter (goddess of the harvest & agriculture) and Eunostos & Promylaia (goddesses of the flour mill). Pherusa is the noná to Krysothemis (Kristy), the daughter of Karmanor (demi-god of the harvest). Her best friend is his sister Karme (demi-goddess of the harvest). Pherusa loves traveling to Eleusis to see her, looking forward to her delicious corn pudding! She even views Eubouleus (god of the swine & ploughing) as a father figure.
She's also friends with Kéfi (goddess of mirth), Apheleia (goddess of simplicity), Oeno (goddess of berries & wine), Thilasmós (goddess of nursing), Anatole (goddess of sunrise), Damia (goddess of naturalness), Elais (goddess of oil), Spermo (goddess of grains), Nymphe (goddess of self-care), Rhapso (goddess of sewing), Hestia (goddess of the hearth), Philotes (goddess of sex, friendship, & affection), Pan (god of the wild, satyrs, shepherds, & rustic music), Livádi (goddess of meadows), Eváeros (goddess of air & the zodiacs), and Záchari (god of confectionery).
She loves snacking on plaintain chips.
Her and Thilasmós often bond over about the attention and comments they get due to their ample chests.
Pherusa went to New Olympus Fashion Week for the first time last year when Rhapso got her & Eváeros exclusive front-row tickets.
She appeared once in a nude spread for Zeus' mens' magazine. Her photoshoot "broke the internet" for a few minutes when the images made its way on Fatestagram.
Some of her favorite desserts are Záchari's honeyed fig crostatas (dusted on top with an extra helping of powdered sugar), Eváeros' ambrosia salad, Karme's peach bourbon upside-down bundt cake, and the orange lemon pound cake from Hollyhock's Bakery.
As for her love life, Pherusa is enjoying her singledom and meeting new people. Her last serious relationship was with an anthousai named Amaryllis. Pherusa has a few dating apps on her smartphone- also having gone out on more than one date with a maenad named Rhiannon.
A couple of months ago Pherusa flew to Cyprus to hang out with Philotes. They had fun at a nightclub, got a bit tipsy, and ended up making out on the dancefloor. Things got steamier when Philotes went down on her in the nightclub's bathroom. Days later, Philotes reached out to her to "clear the air" with them admitting their attraction to each other. Pherusa was taken aback when Philotes offered up the idea to sleep with each other while her husband Priapus (god of fertility, vegetable gardens, livestock, sexuality, & masculinity) watches, without participating. She hasn't given her an answer yet.
Pherusa has a growing collection of Diamond Ave. fruit themed jeweled clutches. She herself was able to get the orange slice one (which costs 4,000 drachmas) while Karme got her the peach shaped one. As a summer solstice gift last year, Rhapso got her the pineapple shaped one!
In her free time she enjoys sunbathing, gardening, swimming, cooking, baking, bike riding, reading, shopping, spending time with her daughters, golf, fishing, and spending time with her friends.
Her favorite meals include chilled peach soup with fresh goat cheese, roasted lamb chops with a cherry glaze, and coconut chicken curry with white rice.
