can you do an x reader with any of the mercs where they find out they’ve been calling reader the wrong name/ pronouncing it wrong for a year and reader just never bothered to correct them?

i fear i am in this situation right now… but ive corrected them multiple times so ive given up 😭

Scenario: You have been working for the RED team for just over a year now. On one of your trips into town with your partner, an old friend recognizes you and calls out your name. It is at this moment that your partner realizes that they've been saying your name wrong!

"Oh my stars- Y/N!"

You paused mid stride, eyes widening as the voice of your childhood best friend reached your ears. You turned around, pulling away from Soldier's side, who in turn lifted up his helmet to see who exactly had pulled his sweetheart's attention away from him.

"Charline! Oh my God, it's been so long!" You grinned, pulling the plump southerner into a tight hug. She squeezed you back just as hard, before pulling back to smile widely at you.

"What are you doin' way out here, sugarplum? Weren't you holed up in Oregon?" she asked, taking a moment to dust off your uniform, "Oh, and just look at you! Did you join the military?"

"Uh, something like that." You said, scratching at the back of your neck. The sound of approaching footsteps made you turn your head, and you smiled sweetly when you saw your boyfriend marching up to the two of you, looking like a dusty little puppy trailing behind its owner.

"Charl', this is my boyfriend, Soldier." You pulled Soldier over by the arm, and he gave her a wave.

"Hello Y/N's friend!"

Charline blinked, before a short giggle passed her lips.

"Hun, are you trying to say Y/N?"

Soldier was quiet for a moment, something that sent a ripple of unease through you. A quiet Soldier often meant trouble.

"Wait, that's how you say it?!" he suddenly yelled, slapping a hand onto his helmet, "Darling, why did you allowed me to butcher your name for so long?!"

You laughed as you caught sight of the wide eyed, almost hurt look on his face.

"I thought it was cute, Solly." You reassured, "You weren't too far off, and I just... never got around to correcting you, I guess."

Soldier pulled his helmet down by its chinstrap, face flushed as he muttered something about disrespecting you and America. You simply chuckled and drew him into a side hug, mentally promising to reassure him later.

"EYO! Y/N, IS THAT YOU?"

Scout's long winded conversation about baseball statistics was suddenly interrupted when someone called out your name. You turned around, laughing joyfully when you spotted Mike, an old school friend of yours. The two of you had been inseparable until you graduated, and you could pick out his voice anywhere.

"Mike! Holy shit man, it's been a minute!" You beamed, strolling up to him and grasping his outstretched hand. You squeezed it, baring your teeth playfully when he matched your grip, "Where the hell have you been hiding?"

"Me? Look who's talking! You're the one out in bumfuck nowhere New Mexico." Mike smirked, head tilting as he looked at something behind you, "Who's this?"

You glanced over your shoulder, only to see Scout hot on your heels, the batter pressing himself in close to your side once he finally caught up, always needing to be near you when he could.

"Oh, Mike, this is my boyfriend, Scout!" You said, giving your partner a loving smile. "Scout, this is Mike. Me and him go way back."

"Hey, how ya doin' man." Mike extended his hand again, this time just giving Scout a friendly handshake, "It's so nice to see that Y/N finally found someone!"

"Haha, yeah, I'm the luckiest guy evah! I still can't believe they're mine." he laughed, a faint tinge of something that sounded like jealousy or protectiveness coating his voice.

"Wait, wait, wait," Scout said suddenly, putting his hands up in a 'pause' motion, "did you say Y/N? Holy crap- babe, have I been sayin' ya name wrong this whole time?!"

"Uhh," You blushed slightly, "just a little bit, yeah. I don't mind though, really!" You added, seeing the dawning look of horror come over his face.

"Oh, my friggin God." he moaned, pressing his face into his hands. "Kill me now. I can't evah look at you again."

Mike started to wheeze with laughter, the cackling only getting worse when you shot him a dirty look. Ignoring your friend, you gently cupped Scout's face, causing him to peek through his fingers.

"Are you sure you won't look at me again? I'd be very sad if we didn't get to kiss anymore because of that." You teased lightly, giving him your best fake puppy dog eyes. There was no need to pull out the real bad boys here.

Scout flushed red, but lowered his hands slowly. "Yeah, I guess that would be pretty tragic for ya. Just, don't tell the guys about this, please."

"Okay honey, I won't."
