hi~ can i have 'mornings with them' with the sumeru men? little scenarios/headcanons, please. 🙏🥰
⟢ you taste like vanilla ft. al haitham, cyno, kaveh, tighnari ・synopsis. say good morning to the most handsome man beside you, your significant other. ・notes. giggles, you guys can have these drabbles rq while i finish the long requests in my drafts/inbox ・warnings. just literal mornings with them, generally fluff, slight spoilers to in-game story
THE SCRIBE: ALHAITHAM ・pulls a bunch of all nighters, can barely sleep when he can, unless you're there, as long as you guys cuddle he'll be okay, proper sleep schedule back on track. likes to have his arms around your waist and sleeping to the side while you face him, kind of gives the feelings you're in his arms, no one will take you away from him.
・usually wakes up before you, but probably waits in bed for 30 more minutes, just watching you sleep peacefully in his embrace. wouldn't admit it out loud, but he thinks you're cute when you sleep, before he gets out of bed he'd kiss your forehead, and write a note on your nightstand and make breakfast, the notes are probably sticky notes saying what's for breakfast with a cute lil drawing of you
as he watches your chest heave, he brushes the hair off your face to kiss your forehead, you'd hear a very faint whisper, but he said "I never thought I'd ever get this close to someone, so close to feel their breath on my skin, and their lips on mine. and It's much more amazing that it's you." and he'd slowly get up to leave, but nothing brightened his morning more than your sleepy expression near his chest.
・will always make sure that mostly whatever is your favorite will be your breakfast, knows you can cook for lunch by yourself, but in advance would get stuff out for you, puts another sticky note and recommends what you should cook ・"You've never seen me ever broken, and I'm scared you'll leave me once you do, so I'm strong for you."
THE GENERAL MAHAMATRA: CYNO ・probably ends up finding you stranded on the couch asleep with a blanket covering you, always loves carrying you up the stairs, gives him the feeling that he can protect someone. or that he needs to, and that gives him a stronger will to fight in battle. ends up caressing your head from behind, just finds his hands lost in your hair, ends up sleeping anyway. ・honestly always wakes up before you, no matter how early you wake up, he's already out of bed, breakfast is usually made.
"I gave you thousands of reasons to walk away, why didn't you?" He said, his face next to your neck, "Because I love you. That's why." Cuddling him closer, your fingers ran through his hair, and a kiss to his forehead set him asleep.
・when you do wake up with him at the same time, likes to take showers with you too. there's also cooking together, likes to hold you from behind and rest his head on yours, or put his head near to your neck, and talks to you about the food or what he has to do that day. ・leaves for work, but not without your lips on his on his way out. never forget to say i love you back when he tells you "love you dear, see you tonight." like he will wait by the doorframe for you to say it back,
"See you tonight, dear, love you." Cyno said walking to the door with his spear in hand, "Mhm, see you tonight." You said going to start clean up the table, it's been about 10 minutes, and your boyfriend is still waiting by the entrance to your home, "You haven't gone yet? Did you forget something? Want me to go get it for you?" You said coming close again, "You forgot something." Getting a little closer to your face, "I did?" "You didn't say I love you back. Say it now, or I'm not going." "Well I much prefer you stay here with me than go to work, but I love you too." "Thank you, stay safe alright?"
・"I hope that I find you in every life, no matter where you are, I want to find you, and only you." is all he whispers, as he falls asleep, with you.
THE ARCHITECT: KAVEH ・probably stays at home most of the time, so you're with him most of the time, sleep at the same time together too. he probably has a matching skincare routine with you, like be honest with me if you really wanna be in a relationship with this man you got to share your own skincare routine. ・you don't have one, and don't wanna do one? too bad, he'll force you by doing it himself on you 'till you do it on your own (as a joke, he knows your boundaries, doesn't really mind if you don't have one :), he'll be very happy to share though! ・if he ever does wear suits he wants you to tie the tie on him, (for the cheesy effect), because he doesn't know how (he does, just likes how much better it looks when you do it.), if it ever comes down to it, after he's done a project and finds you waiting since whenever time earlier on the couch, sound asleep, will sleep on your lap, he can barely carry a claymore what makes you think he can carry you to your bedroom (he can, but for the cheesy effect he stays, also because he's lazy),
As his eyes open, he looks up to see his lover, still sleeping, he could get out of bed and go elsewhere to prepare for the morning activities, your pretty face lulls him back to sleep, mumbling something like I love you under his breath.
・if you ever get clothing ripped or destroyed somewhat, he can sew, will do it with joy, you trust him enough that he can patch up your clothing from battle, honestly, any clothing with holes, or what in them, he'll be quick to put it back together, especially your favorites, knows which are your favorites, and what you prefer. likes to do it in the morning way better, if any time later than that, you're gonna have to wait 'till morning, again. ・likes tracing shapes on your back if you both are cuddling, and he big spoons, finds it calming himself, and likes to watch your sleepy expression pleased. ・he doesn't know it yet, but randomly memorizes the little things about you, like it's just implemented in his mind, and doesn't mean to, but when you mention you like something, it will stay in his mind, like taking notes for what you prefer. in bed, he likes to just gaze at you, and you return it, just in silence, admiring each other, so far yet so close, slowly both your eyes go to sleep, in each other's embrace. ・"If I could choose you in every life, I would, and I'm glad I did in this one"
THE FOREST RANGER: TIGHNARI ・barely home, it's for a good reason, most of the time he does surprise you with dates out, and sleeping inside your home, together. he tries his best, but can't sleep that often, forest ranger for a reason, will just watch you most of the night, the times he does get to sleep, is short, can barely sleep a whole 8 hours, likes to be held by you, reminds him of the feeling of home. ・like to scatter kisses around your collarbone when you hold him close, lets you pet his ears, and his tail, you've asked a ton before i bet, he said only in private, the feeling he get whenever you pet his ears gets him feeling weird.. ・likes to admire you when you sleep, and whisper praise into your ears, asleep or not, he doesn't care, he gets stuff off his chest by chatting to you at night, even if you aren't listening because obviously you are sleeping, but if you are, you'd hear all the things he'd be too shy to call you, there are thing he does call you with other people, like petnames, but there are things he prefers much more in private.
A date in the forest wasn't uncommon with Tighnari, picnics are his favorite, and he usually surprises you with it, he blindfolds you, leading you to somewhere, somewhere no one else but him knows, a small place, with a pond decorated with nilotpala lotuses, and other flowers decorating everywhere else, "I hope this is something you love, because I know I do." Taking off your blindfold, light slightly pouring out the hole up above, as the place was a cave like figure, "It's beautiful!" gasping, taking a look at the small picnic he's set up for you and him, "Not as beautiful as you are, because no matter how many languages I study or learn, no word from any language could define your beauty." But all of this was nothing short of a dream he's had of you, as he awakes, all he could think is how lucky he is to have you.
・in the morning, both of you like to water his plants in his botany laboratory where he studies plants, he likes to wake up with you, shower, get up on those days he can be with you ・"If I could, I would bring the universe to you, but for now, all I can do is love you."
the whole time i wrote this i giggled n said these are not drabbles......

a list of mods/modpacks i'd like to rattle legundo around in (elaboration under the cut):
From The Fog + Sleepless (no official download yet; here's a link to the series currently showcasing it)
The Hubris of Magic
Into The Betweenlands / Into The Betweenlands 2
Aylyth
Nevermore (Manic + Sanguine)
Dimensional Doors again
From The Fog + Sleepless (no official download yet yada yada here's the link again)
the extremely atmospheric Herobrine mod from Haunted Winter, but with a second Lunar Eclipse creation based on urban legends of the Winchester Mystery Manor.
every night, you must set your bed in a different room of your house, or Bad Things Will Happen. the rooms of the house must be connected to each other. beds can't be placed too near to where other beds were, or Bad Things Will Happen.
Sleepless turns Minecraft into a frantic crawl to get enough materials to build more and more rooms onto an ever-more-convoluted house, and it's great. pairing it with From The Fog is just kind of a given to me, but it also goes great with decor mods and other atmospheric horror mods.
this is the reason this post exists. i want this playthrough to happen so bad. Legundo's former title in Decem is the Architect for god's sake. he needs to be subjected to some house of leaves nonsense more than anything else, and it needs to be his fault.
pair with the Immersive Portals mod for extra HoL.
The Hubris of Magic
a 1.7 modpack focusing around the classic magic mod Thaumcraft, where the world is hostile and covered in sculk i mean Taint
1.7 is a hard sell, i know. here's the thing; Hubris is one of those classic "survive a horrid infection" mods, like Sculk Horde, but it's like that -- at peak infection -- by default. everything is purple, the ground wants to kill you, the corrupt magic is nearly inescapable, there are even magic nodes that want very badly to eat you
it has some of the most iconic magic mods in existence -- chief among them being Thaumcraft and Botania, of course! i also just think it has some great atmosphere and requires fun lateral thinking in terms of how to go about setting up an area that can't be infected.
everything being infected means that villagers are a super endangered species, by the way! good luck.
Into The Betweenlands / Into The Betweenlands 2 (or just play Betweenlands i guess)
a lovely 1.12 modpack that places the player directly into the swamp hell dimension known as the Betweenlands with a handful of other mods. have fun!!!!!! don't die!!!
wow, tumblr user solar betweenlands wants people to play the Betweenlands. fork found in kitchen. no, but in all seriousness, the Betweenlands is one of my favorite ever mods and it has some absolutely killer atmosphere.
i've chosen i2btl and i2btl2 because they're fully balanced modpacks that put you right in the dimension to begin with, but i mean, i would love to see a custom modpack tooled around the Betweenlands as well!
the Betweenlands really forces you to engage with a lot of its mechanics and is basically a survival horror mod that actually understood the "survival" part of that genre premise. resources are always scarce, picking fights isn't always a good idea, and the dimension itself is chewing away at you.
Aylyth
it's like the Betweenlands but in the woods instead of the swamp and also the dimension itself really wants to kill you this time
i don't have a lot to add. it's an acceptable Betweenlands runner-up for me.
Nevermore (Manic + Sanguine)
a datapack/mod combo adding Dark Magics and just straight-up blood magic. has its own extra narsty blood moons and some really fun (in)sanity mechanics.
i love Manic a lot. it's got a fascinatingly unique method of ingame documentation and some seriously cool spritework. Sanguine has some really neat pixel gore as well! they're both super cool.
seriously though Manic owns when it comes to eldritch horror mods. i am chewing on it. i'm recommending Nevermore because i feel like Manic and Sanguine are kind of a Do Not Separate Them deal.
Dimensional Doors again
dimdoors is good and i like it
#yt#txt#orig#dominioners#legundo#yeah im putting this in maintags legundo if you're reading this then. well youre reading this. that it thats the sentence

behind the series—
as fate would have it
welcome to an extended version of what could be considered an author’s note. i can't even begin to thank all of you who have left comments, reblogged, and sent me lovely messages about this story. it motivates me every day and it truly means so much to me as a storyteller.
i just thought it would be fun to go behind the scenes, so to speak, and share with y'all a few more details about the story.
our story takes place in northern california, more specifically, palo alto. it is the birth place of silicone valley. stanford college and facebook headquarters are in this area as well. not only is the area familiar to me, but the setting makes sense for anakin’s company.
the skywalker’s live in a mid-century modern house that is very popular in the bay area called “eichler homes”. they are named after the architect joseph eichler. i didnt pick a specific house to be theirs, but if you’re curious about the style, i highly recommend checking it out! mentioning the type of house they live in was just a subtle way of indicating where the story takes place.
in chapter 3 i mention Philz Coffee. Philz is a local coffee chain in the bay area. there’s no real significance behind it, it’s just different from saying “starbucks” and i think it makes it unique. i name dropped 2 of my favorite drinks- the mint mojito and mocha tesora.
anakin's characterization is really important to me in this story (and all of my stories). in terms of afwhi, i try to emulate live action anakin in ahsoka. granted, tcw anakin is supposed to be in his early 20s so it's fun to adapt him as a 42 year old. he's such a dynamic character. he cares so deeply for the people around him, but he's also moody and has a temper.
i'm obsessed with him having a soft spot for certain people—ahem— reader, and also his own children. he actually couldn't care less about other kids and i will die on this hill.
i think kids can make or break stories. published books and fanfiction. what are they adding to the story? is their dialogue realistic or are they way too wise beyond their years? i think my experience with children has helped me create realistic 9 year olds. they’re capable of having serious conversations and motivations while also still being playful.
reader’s cat’s name is panini because my best friend had a cat named panini. i’m really a dog person and have no real experience with cat personalities. but ya know. it’s fanfic i can do what i want.
i think that just about does it. what started out as a little blurb has turned into 12k words (so far) and we are nowhere near done. there’s quite a bit more story i want to tell. i didn’t originally intend for this to be a slow burn and i’m still not sure if it is one. maybe like a medium burn…. 🤭
i hope this was fun for you as a reader. i really cannot thank you enough for your love and support with this story. you are all my besties and i love writing for you.

Chiffon - 12, 13, 20, 21/22, 24 - Doffy - 5, 9, 22
Chiffon
12. What’s a headcanon you have for this character?
I have afew, I’ll share some of them! One was that when Lola departed and Chiffon was left to bear Big Mom’s upsets with her twin, she had become more withdrawn and complacent to her situation. She never blamed Lola, however. Chiffon really started to become herself again as she spent time with Bege and his crew over the two years. That while it may have been love at first sight for Bege, it was not so for her. Chiffon was terrified and not pleased at all with her forced arranged marriage to a pirate with such an infamously bloody and brutal reputation. Chiffon is very hands on in everything in a way that can sometimes seem overbearing or boisterous. It’s not that she’s forceful, it might be a side effect of royalty that she can speak with authority very well and because of that, few will question it.
13. What's an emoji, an emoticon and/or any symbol that reminds you of this character or you think the character would use a lot?
Cake slice emoji. I always use the little piece of cake with the strawberry on it. 🍰
20. Which other character is the ideal best friend for this character, the amount of screentime they share doesn't matter?
While they’ve definitely had screen time together, and shown to already be friendly with one another, I still think her and Nami would get along famously. They both have a streak of mischief and boldness in them that I think they could topple empires if they conspired together. I would also like to see her get to know Robin - I think Robin would remind her of her husband in certain ways. Speaking of toppling empires - Chiffon, Nami and Robin would be a scary team. And again they’ve had screen time and shown to be friendly to one another, with their mutual respect of and being artful in cooking she and Sanji would be great friends.
21. If you're a fic writer and have written for this character, what's your favorite thing to do when you're writing for this character? What's something you don't like?
I looove making Chiffon not shy away at all from Bege’s darker tendencies and also be just an active part of the crime family/pirate crew. She certainly doesn’t always condone it, and I think her word is powerful and has changed Beges mind on many occasions of just choosing to put a bullet in the back of someone’s head (aka offering a deal to Pekoms to join them rather than just kill him a second time ), but she will help him get rid of the body with none the less support. Even if I feel like he’d rather not have her be in harms way, she reminds him she was part of Big Moms family - she’s use to this sort of thing! As for don’t like, I haven’t really seen enough fics for her to really pick something out. I guess I’m not fond of making her so mushy overly sweet? She is one of the few people who tells Capone Bege ‘no’ —and he listens! Bege may be captain/boss but he’ll do near anything for his wife and his crew/gang knows this and have a healthy respect for her too.
24. What other character from another fandom of yours that reminds you of them?
Sybil Vimes from Discworld —omg Sybil Vimes!! Two large women who are also royalty and wedded to smaller cigar smoking husbands with darker tendencies trying to do better for their wives and both are boisterous, passionate individuals, loving wives and amazing mothers?? Sybil has inspired some of my takes for Chiffon, definitely.
—————————————-
Doflamingo
5. What's the first song that comes to mind when you think about them?
Ohh there’s afew. It’s hard to choose one. One that definitely reminds me of him that was recommended to me -😉- was: The Decemberists Here I Dreamt I was an Architect.
9. Could you be roommates with this character?
-Bugs Bunny: No -
22. If you're a fic reader, what's something you like in fics when it comes to ths character? Something you don't like?
I love when writers go into his complex relationships with Rosinante, Law or Viola or Tsuru. When they cater to his obvious sociopathic nature and impaired mental states, his past and the resulting complicated interactions he has with those he deems important to him. I like when they don’t forget he’s an absolutely terrible person (and just that is letting him off easy) but give him depth that he’s also lot more. I’m not a fan of ‘if doflamingo was nice’ or when his edges are sanded down. I highly recommend the fic Astra Inclinant from Petracore for Doffy enjoyers - it covers nearly every facet I enjoy about the character so well and more it’s…molto bene. 🤌

Kaveh's Odd Desert Connections
Kaveh... Is weird. I hadn't thought that much about it until I very recently caught up with the Dirge of Bilqis quest (the new desert one with Jeht) and watched Ashikai's latest theory video. This post is just meant to gather my thoughts and share what I've learned.
So first what sent me down this rabbit hole was finding this during the desert quest:
In case you missed it in that wall of text, this record is addressed to "Mehrak". We know due to leaks that Kaveh's very cute briefcase is called Mehrak also.
Unfortunately,,, desert lore is like that and is pretty hard to untangle. These records recount the fall of Gurabad and the story of Liloupar - basically, they tell a story of a ruined civilisation from thousands of years in the past. Knowing the actual contents of them isn't really necessary to follow this post, because Mehrak (and by extension Kaveh) is only namedropped this one time out of all the records.
But we can theorise a lot just from this single mention. To me, there are two possible explanations for why "Mehrak" comes up in these records whilst also being Kaveh's present day briefcase. The first is mildly boring but kind of funny: there is no true connection between Kaveh's Mehrak and the Mehrak mentioned, Kaveh simply named his cute techno briefcase after a historical figure because he thought it would be cool. Kaveh is smart and does work on projects in the desert, so it is not outside the realm of possibility that he might learn of Mehrak and use the name. It makes him look a whole lot more nerdy, which I find amusing.
The second possible explanation (and pls do provide your thoughts if you have any other ideas) was provided to me by a redditer (PinkPrimrose05). Their theory is that Mehrak is in a similar situation to Ferigees, who I will remind you is the Jinni near the end of the Dirge of Bilqis questline. They were a person at a certain point in history, but has since been trapped in a mechanical construct. They cannot die until we release them.
(I apologise for the poor quality, Ferigees is inside that yellow mechanism.)
This has many more implications, since (if this is the case) Mehrak's current form does not really match the other ancient desert technology. Well, perhaps it has some similar patterning, but it definitely looks significantly more modern than other technology from that time -
(I could not for the life of me find a good model image for this, so sorry Kaveh's arm is in the way.)
Perhaps I should have mentioned this earlier - we know from leaks that Mehrak has some level of sentience, in that it has expressions (little pixelated anime eye reactions) and responds to Kaveh's instructions without necessitating verbal or physical inputs. This makes the Jinni idea seem more likely, since they also have sentience.
Okay, so maybe the briefcase has a rich history from the time of King Deshret. So what? Kaveh probably found it in the desert and repurposed it for his own needs - perhaps due to errosion Mehrak has no memory of its past life. Since the technology does not quite match, or at least not totally, perhaps Kaveh created the briefcase around Mehrak (as well as an architect he is also a student from the technology darshan, after all). Or maybe he just made additions. What does it even matter aside from being an interesting tidbit?
Well, then I watched Ashikai's latest video: https://youtu.be/h5rNMYwWjfA. It's not necessary watching to understand what I'm about to say, so I'll summarise some of her thoughts very broadly: she brings up the idea that rather than Alhaitham being the Deshret parallel as we all thought, it's instead Kaveh. If you would like to hear all her thoughts as to why that could be, I recommend watching the video.
This does not mean that Kaveh IS Deshret, or even that it's a reincarnation situation. Just that he could be a parallel, or have more connections/knowledge than we might realise. Kaveh is an interesting case from a meta perspective also, since he has had a strange amount of unnecessary story presence for an unreleased four star. He is in the archon quest and Alhaitham's story quest and in neither is his presence at all justified by narrative - Alhaitham's quest could easily end fifteen minutes earlier, and Kaveh adds literally nothing to the archon quest aside from some nice levity. Some lore relevant significance might explain this presence past just "oh, well Hoyo wanted fanservice".
Through the lens that their is some sort of Deshret -> Kaveh connection happening (and I say this so so loosely), his connection with Mehrak might have a more sinister implication. Deshret allowed, through his own ignorance, the Jinni he intended to protect on behalf of the Goddess of Flowers to be enslaved. He also lied about the Goddess' death to the Jinni, and it is largely due to their contract with him that their entire civilisation fell apart. An important note about Ferigees and Liloupar is that both crave an existence outside of their prisons - Ferigees purposefully trapped themself inside the mechanism but found the experience torturous, and Liloupar returns to Gurabad. If Mehrak is another trapped Jinni, Kaveh might be accidentally mistreating it.
However, I like the idea that Mehrak and Kaveh are friends much better. Its expressions are often positive ones, so even if it's forced to listen to Kaveh because he has its name, it doesn't seem too upset about it. Also, another part of Ashikai's video posits that Liloupar so quickly accepts the traveller because they have resemblance to Deshret (a whole other rabbit hole, watch the video if you want to know). In this same thread, Ashikai brings up that Kaveh looks very similar to the traveller, so I think that perhaps Mehrak (either knowingly or not) connects Kaveh to its previous master, which could explain why it listens to him so well.
Overall, I find this connection very intriguing and I'm excited to learn more. There is definitely something there, but whether or not it will be imprtant I do not know.
#genshin impact#kaveh#mehrak#kaveh's briefcase#genshin leaks#dirge of bilqis#lore#theory?#long post#also i had unrelated kavetham thoughts about why alhaitham has deshret's eyes#but is not revealed to be connected to him on a story level in any way#if kaveh has the connection instead and then has control of mechanisms#and alhaitham's burst looks exactly like the ASIMON attack which is a desert mechanism#idk there is a fanfiction there i swear to god#also more story esque leaks incoming but not really#kaveh is by leagues the main character in the 3.6 event#so next patch is truly his patch#so hopefully we'll get lots of info

9 people you'd like to get to know better
These tag games are pretty cool. Thanks so much @fabdante for tagging me, I really enjoyed learning more about you my friend. Now it's my turn.
last song you listened to: Naysayer by Architects (I feel this song tells much about the way I handle things. Angrily full of hope hehe. Also I'm trying to get concert tickets so I need to get into *Architects Mode*)
fav colour: Blue and Purple!! In that order. I tend to wear a lot of black and white but the only other color to take over my wardrobe is blue. (totally not on purpose ((but also a little on purpose)) I tend to find Vergil blue colors or ashy calm blue as a comfort)
currently watching: Fallout on Prime. I'm currently watching it with my brother in a very VERY slow fashion (we've only just finished ep. 2. But I take sibling bonding whenever I can). I am also watching Game Of Thrones on my own (also very slowly due to work and school) I've only just reached season 5.
sweet/savoury/spicy: Spicy all the way! I am Mexican, give me the spice in candy and foods.
relationship status: Ehh. In that "I'm not sure what we are" situationship phase, unfortunately.
current obsession: Mythology!! Listen, listen... I love God Of War nearly almost as much as I love Devil May Cry. They are battling for first, but DMC always wins by a hair. I love reading Greek Mythology retellings and WISH SO BADLY that there were good Norse Mythology retellings. **If anyone has any recommendations fanfic or original fiction, please let me know :))
last thing i googled: Atreus' neck tattoo and shops near me. The above answer sorta explains it. I have mainly gotten flower tatttoos, as I wish to become a garden (it was a romantic idea I had once and I'm stuck to it) and I love love LOVE flowers so so much BUT I also adore mythology and believe in all the runes and such in a spiritual aspect, as well as I just fucking adore GOW therefore I hope to get Atreus' neck tattoo (hopefully this week or the next).
Tagging: I'm sorry in advance!! Don't feel forced to participate but please know I love and respect you friends! @yatskari and @torahime
#my own#random#ask game#ask me anything#my favorite things#dmc#god of war#Oh this was so hard#I should be workign but I'm answering instead#hfaghlka

Had a nice long play session with Tavierra today, so here's the latest for my chosen of Eilistraee:
Met the Dream Visitor! Her appearance is the spitting image of Qilué Veladorn, cleric of Eilistraee and chosen of Mystra. Qilué famously bore such a striking beauty that she was often mistaken for Eilistraee Herself. She's also been dead over a hundred years, so Tav is pretty sure this isn't her.
She's VERY cute tho!
Am determined not to use the tadpoles. Except, specifically, to help her comrades. So far she's used the Illithid influence three times; to free Shadowheart, to see into Astarion's mind after he tried to bite her without permission, and to see Lae'zel's fears when she held a knife to her throat. Ironically, that means she's already used the influence power more times than Alice did in her whole playthrough LMAO.
Also unlike Alice, Tav went through with Volo's lobotomy
That look when everything is fine and you'll love the results.
Kaylin don't give your oc heterochromia challenge (impossible)
Confronted and fought Kagha and the Shadow Druids. No reforming her this time, she was horrible. Except I did have non-lethal on, so she got knocked out, and everyone talked about her like she's dead, but when Rath walked near her body he had the same banter he has with Kagha after she sides with us against the shadow druids. Very weird.
Realized I had fucked up the stealing idol quest by not accepting it when I talked to Mol about it the first time, so no Ring of Protection for me T_T
Back into the Underdark! We find our way to the beach coming from the south, so we meet the duergar before the Myconid colony. She's not going to help a bunch of slavers, but does take advantage of their assuming she's a True Soul to sneak past them and steal their boat.
We hit level 5 as we enter Grymforge and instantly everyone's power level spikes (even the multiclass party members). Hearing about Nere for the first time in Grymforge, Tav is intrigued by another drow True Soul.
Pictures taken seconds before a whole lot of slavers die (Wyll approves)
Between the slavers and dead Harper-aligned drow (who have historically been allies of the followers of Eilistraee) Grymforge is officially flagged for killing everyone (except Tav stops for architect nerd talk, those guys are alright). Gotta do it subtly though without alerting the whole fortress.
Shadowheart spikes the ale flagon with drow poison to kill two slacking guards, and the rest of the team busts heads in isolated corners away from patrols.
Had an unexpectedly difficult fight with the oozes on the way to Philomeen, as Gale's Wild Magic surge made his level 1+ spells heal nearby creatures whenever he dealt damage, so I stupidly targeted a weakened ooze with magic missile, and it HEALED the ooze to full instead (healing procced on each missile hit!) So yeah Wild Magic has been working out great on this Tactician run, highly recommended.
Encountered the mimics and have realized Wyll might be my strongest combatant so far.
Once Hunger of Hadar went down these mimics couldn't do SHIT and got eaten away over the course of 4 turns. Also if you're wondering how Karlach has a 95% on a throw, Tavern Brawler + Hill Giant Strength elixir is a really good combination <broken>
Gonna rest up and then plan how I'm taking out the rest of the fortress (I really don't want to fight Nere + all the duergar, even with the ones that can help us)

every once in a while my feed recommends thinkpieces on the Matrix films written by authors who miss the point of said films, so I guess it's time for yet another thrilling round of "watch the films"
Did. Did you see the part where Neo wakes up in his bed thinking the interrogation was just a dream. Because. Agents wiping people's memories is an established plot point.
Also, the Architect implies in Reloaded that most people plugged into the Matrix are aware deep down that they live in an artificial reality, but they agree to live in it at that near-subconscious level because they've been given the choice to accept or reject it. He says this was the most elegant solution the Oracle created to address the problem of people rejecting the dream world en masse. As long as people are made to believe they have a choice, even the illusion of choice will suffice. It paints a rather depressing portrait of humanity and its complacency, tbh.
---
No kidding.
The animated short detailing the history of the machines portrays scorching the sky as mankind's last-ditch effort to gain an advantage following a gruesome war. It wasn't something they approached lightly. Never mind the fact that mankind isn't exactly known for its long-term thinking and well-considered rationale in the face of terror (neither are the machines, for that matter; nuance whomst?). Morpheus furthermore claims that they don't know who struck first, machines or humans, but they do know humans "scorched the sky."
The original script specified the machines used human minds to boost the Matrix's processing power, but because that was a concept that would have flown over the audience's heads in the nineties, they changed it to "the machines harvest humans for energy."
---
To be fair, the sequels do take Morpheus somewhat to task for his dogma. His faith gets noticeably shaken by the events of Reloaded and Revolutions. Not everyone believes what he believes, but his beliefs do not require them to.
I won't argue that Morpheus is particularly righteous or even accurate most of the time, but I do think the notion that "anyone that hasn't been unplugged can turn into an Agent and kill you at any time" ought to be taken into account. Is it a little extreme that he calls every unplugged human "our enemy"? Yes. But… he kind of has good reason to, tbh. Agents can't exactly be reasoned with. The crew were fully prepared to pop a cap in Neo's ass "for [their] protection," as Trinity says, despite Morpheus' conviction that he was the man they were looking for.
---
Eh. Neo's muscle atrophy appears later, though I'm willing to suspend my disbelief for the sake of having a hard-hitting scene. Watch less CinemaSins, it's good for you. ironically enough, The Matrix is the narrator's favorite movie. lol and lmao
"Furthermore, there's an unresolved issue of why the spider-like machine simply doesn't kill him (and every other revived human) as they wake up."
Because you can't kill something you think is a corpse.
The maintenance machine removed Neo's cables because it registered him as dead… as a result of Neo taking the red pill. Morpheus says taking the red pill disrupts a person's input/output signals, meaning the connection between one's RSI and body has been severed, something that only happens if a podbound human dies. The signal disruption allows the rebels to pinpoint Neo's exact location in the real world.
While you could argue this technique potentially harbors its fair share of flaws - one can only assume human batteries die every so often, so how would they be able to pick Neo out from the unattended dead? - asking why the machine didn't kill him tells me you weren't exactly paying attention.
Things get a little more complicated in Reloaded when the Architect implies that the machines do willingly let a small portion of humans go as a sort of pressure valve to prevent the Matrix from collapsing under its own critical mass. Even then, the first film provides a coherent enough explanation that we don't need Reloaded's. You're assuming the machine believes Neo is alive when clearly it doesn't. It sees him struggle, yes, but because the red pill makes Neo emit the machine equivalent of an ant's death pheromones, the bot goes "welp, another one bit the dust" and proceeds to flush the "corpse" down the drain.
---
People always act like this is some fresh new take.
Well. That's kinda the whole point of his betrayal. To make you wonder what you would do in his situation. It's all well and good to speculate on what-ifs from the comfort of the fourth wall, but the film frames an otherwise abstract moral quandary in very clear terms. Is a life of hedonistic bliss better than one where you are painfully aware of the artifice of reality and constantly fighting for your life? It's not an accident---you're meant to ponder the question.
The Matrix franchise approaches the concept of freedom from a nihilistic lens. Nihilism often gets strawmanned in movies (Smith's own views function as a mouthpiece for such edgelord flanderizations) as a defeatist attitude of "Nothing matters, so why bother living?" Rather, a more accurate portrayal of nihilism contends that, because nothing has intrinsic meaning, you are free to create your own meaning. That it is dangerous to chase meaning as defined by premade structures like religion or philosophy, because these will dictate your thinking and keep you under another's control. In so doing, you surrender your freedom to truly discover for yourself what it is that makes life worth living to you. And indeed, Neo transcends Morpheus' and the Oracle's understandings of the Matrix and what it means to be The One in order to walk his own path.
The films ask you, "If freedom felt more like prison, would it still be worth striving for? What is the value of a freedom where you stand to lose more than you gain? Does freedom have inherent value, or is it hailed because of what it represents as yet another variable within these multi-tiered systems of control?"
Tbf, Cypher's resentment towards Morpheus was more understandable in earlier drafts of the script, where it's stated that Cypher was freed from an extremely young age and Morpheus had actually wound up killing five previous candidates he'd assumed to be The One. Some speculate that Cypher is jealous of Neo on the basis of having been a previous candidate, but I don't exactly think that's strictly necessary to understand his desire for a mindlessly hedonistic lifestyle.
---
Okay, I'll give you that one. Never really was sure how Cypher managed to catch the Agents' attention without getting shot on sight. Perhaps Smith recognized an offer he couldn't refuse, and, both characters being opportunists, he and Cypher leaped at the chance to strike a bargain.
It may also have something to do with Smith's ability to at least somewhat mimic human mannerisms on occasion. Agent Brown and Agent Jones are about as personable as cardboard, so it's my pet theory that Smith was designated to be the "human whisperer" of the trio. Hence why Cypher conducts his negotiations with Smith at a restaurant while the other two stand guard.
The scene where Neo sneaks up on Cypher implies Cypher had been doing some hacking in order to prepare for his meeting with Smith. He turns the screens off immediately afterwards.
Moreover, Enter the Matrix implies people are able to plug into simulations without help from others. I would assume Cypher used the same kind of equipment to plug himself into the Matrix.
During Morpheus' torture, the Agents manage to figure out that Cypher has been killed, thus implying that they were counting on disposing of him all along. Because Smith orders the others to continue as planned, it's kind of obvious they never really intended on giving Cypher what he wanted.
---
Petition to drop the phrase "hasn't aged well" from our collective lexicon. At best, it's a semantically null phrase. At worst, it's being deliberately obtuse towards media history as well as the creative process, a way for audiences to feel superior based on the fallacy of modernity. There have been tons of documentaries on the making of the first film, some of which are included as extras on the original DVD. I recommend you watch a few before you say stuff like this.
Admittedly, this one pisses me off a little because A.) yet again the "hasn't aged well" sentiment inevitably loops back around to overlooking the context and history in which the piece was made, and B.) fuck you, the crew worked incredibly hard on this shit.
"The most egregious offenders are scenes like the helicopter crash, where the building's windows warp unrealistically." - You can excuse people flying twenty feet through the air and dodging bullets, but draw the line at (flips through notes) glass exploding in a circle?
Imagine saying this about The Matrix of all films. The one movie that can handwave unrealistic elements through its premise alone. The film where the entire point is that unrealistic things are happening because you are not watching reality.
and then Neo was like "whoa.exe"
Secondly, the Wachowski sisters spent several months studying how glass explodes in order to achieve the ripple effect seen in the film. While CG was used to enhance the scene, the underlying framework rests on a foundation of practical effects. They made dummy rigs and ran through tons of tests to find the precise kind of glass that could accomplish what they envisioned.
The special effects director was pretty hard on himself during a watchthrough with Carrie-Anne Moss, actually. He thought some of the digital effects looked horrible, specifically Agent possessions, and said they could have done better. People saying stuff like this just makes me feel worse for him in retrospect.
Bullet-time looks unimpressive to you now because it's been parodied to death over the past twenty-five years. I fail to see how this is the film's fault.
Subjective perspective changes trying to pass themselves off as objective critique without taking any of a media's history or creative process into account are a part of the reason why I think "hasn't aged well" is a thought-terminating cliche and ultimately useless in discussions of this ilk. It doesn't effectively communicate anything of meaning. You might as well say "this film features moving pictures" or "this video game has controls" for all the information you're imparting.
---
I will concede that Resurrections was a glaringly obvious cash grab and a huge waste of potential. The first half of the film nearly rivals the the first act of M1 in terms of its psychological intrigue, building a slowburn of anticipation… Only to completely shit the bed, devolving into a cynical montage of fanservice and half-baked ideas that amount to nothing more than a shrug. I'm not a Neo/Trinity fan in the slightest, so the "hook" they hoped would reel me in didn't work on me.
However, I think there is more substance to Reloaded and Revolutions than people commonly give them credit for. Perhaps not as entertaining stories, but certainly there's a lot of cud to chew on in terms of the philosophical elements they offer. And this is coming from someone who thinks Reloaded is easily the most boring film of the quadrilogy narrative-wise. The sequels build coherently upon concepts established in the original, if you pay attention.
Reloaded's "We cannot see past the choices we don't understand" is a natural extension of the first film's mantra, "Know thyself." The inability or unwillingness to "know thyself" proves Smith's undoing in Revolutions, since during his "me, me, me" phase he does not do any of the self-actualization or self-reflection that Neo undertakes on his path to achieving peace.
Smith's fatal flaw is his self-myopia. He purports to know how the world works, but he remains blind to himself. And it is because he does not understand himself that he cannot understand others, and thus cannot see his own destruction beyond the brief moment of victory he glimpses with the Oracle's vision. Smith is painfully aware of every single thing except his own inner workings, and that creates in him a void that can never be sated. His myopia explains why he cannot conceive of why Neo fights out of choice. He cannot understand any choice because he does not understand the value of free will.
The inability to see how his character evolves throughout the "forgettable" sequels is what led to galaxy brains on Reddit concluding "Smith is actually The One huehuehuehue" based on the flimsiest of evidence (and a lot of pulling shit from the deepest sanctums of anus, since, let's be real, nobody in this Chili's particularly paid attention to what M1 had to say about him either) and it's like. bruh

I’m currently on Season Two Episode Six of The Good Place, and I decided to create a The Good Place Chucky au with Chucky in Eleanor Shellstrop’s place. This will probably still make sense if you haven’t watched the show, but I’d recommend it because not only is it hilarious, but it will give this more context. You can find it on Netflix :). When does Chucky die in this au, you ask? His very first death, back in 1988. Enjoy :).
————————————————————-
Pain. An endless, dark void as deep as the ocean. A sudden gasp, and then… Charles Lee Ray was sitting in a waiting room, staring at a sign that said ‘Welcome! Everything is fine’. That was… certainly odd, but what was more confusing was how he’d ended up in this waiting room. Did a well-meaning passer-by find his unconscious body and bring him to some weird hospital? If so, boy, was that a mistake on that passer-by’s part. If anyone knew who or what Chucky was, he never would have been saved.
As he contemplated the possibilities that could have brought him to this bizarre location, a door opened, revealing a… human man with silver hair wearing a suit and glasses? Out of everything that could have greeted Chucky on the other side of that door, an average looking guy was not high up on his list of possibilities. The man smiled at him and said:
“Charles? Come on in.”
How the hell did this guy know his name?
————————————————————-
“You, Charles Lee Ray, are dead.”
Chucky shrugged, just kind of going with it (whatever this was) at this point.
“Okay, cool. How did I go?”
The man’s smile faded slightly as he awkwardly averted his gaze and replied:
“You see, in the event of embarrassing or painful deaths we like to erase the memories to make the crossing over process slightly easier.”
Chucky frowned, picking up on the ‘we’ pronoun.
“Who is ‘we’? Where am I exactly?”
This question seemed to bring the man Chucky was speaking to back into focus, as he smiled again and responded.
“In the afterlife, there’s a Good Place and a Bad Place. You’re in the Good Place. My name is Michael, I’m a Good Place architect.”
Chucky (still frowning because this was all so weird) nodded, beginning to understand where he was. But the question still remained - why? He wasn’t unaware of his actions, he knew he was a dick if not anything else. He didn’t deserve to be in this ‘Good Place’, but he had to figure out if this was a case of mistaken identity so he could (hopefully) pretend to be who this guy Michael thought he was and avoid going to hell (or - the Bad Place to be more precise).
With the goal of gathering more information in mind, Chucky crossed his arms, raised an eyebrow and asked again:
“So, how did I die?”
Michael didn’t seem like he wanted to discuss it, but Chucky shot him a more toned down version of his fiercest glare, and that seemed to convince the man (angel? It wasn’t quite clear) to spill the beans.
“You were walking through an alley near a toy store, and you… got gunned down. I’m sure you can understand why we decided to erase that particular memory.”
That seemed like a very him way to die. It was probably a heist gone wrong. Man, he hoped Eddie got away okay, the poor guy was so loyal, he probably stayed by Chucky’s side till the end. Hopefully he was able to get away and tell Tiffany what happened.
Chucky now felt at ease with the knowledge that he probably did deserve to be in this place, because that death was certainly fitting. What he did to end up here was certainly a mystery, so he wanted to find that out.
“Hey Mikey- can I call you Mikey? Too bad, I’m gonna call you Mikey- why do I deserve to be here, huh? What did I do that was so great?”
Michael flashed Chucky a blinding smile as he explained:
“You’re actually my hero, Charles.”
“Call me Chucky.”
“…Okay, Chucky. You’re my hero because your humanitarian efforts around the globe were simply unparalleled. I mean, your anti-violence campaign in the impoverished neighbourhoods of New York? Brought tears to my eyes. You earned over a million points through that campaign alone.”
Okay, so there was clearly a case of mistaken identity here. Right death, wrong life. Whoever this other poor bastard was, if they’d swapped places with Chucky, they were gonna be on a fun trip to the Bad Place when they kicked the bucket. Chucky almost felt bad about it, but… he really didn’t care.
————————————————————-
After receiving the full brief from Michael about afterlife life, Chucky was taken for a tour around an idyllic neighbourhood that contained way too many frozen yogurt stores for his liking. He had to sit through a boring opening event that mentioned something about soulmates and points (that explained Michael’s reference to ‘points’ earlier when he justified why Chucky deserved to be there).
After the tour and the opening speech, Chucky was led to his house. Any sympathy he might have had for Humanitarian Charles immediately faded when he saw where he was expected to live. It was tiny, there were no stairs and the lights were blindingly bright. To make matters worse; there were hundreds of paintings of those new Good Guy dolls covering the walls, and for some reason that made Chucky feel quite uneasy…
As he processed everything going on, Michael explained to him that he was about to meet his soulmate.
“For many people, a soulmate is a person with whom they share a romantic connection. But for you, the system has paired you with a platonic soulmate, a best friend, if you will.”
So he couldn’t actually find love even in paradise, great. As the crushing realisation that he would never be loved by anyone romantically in a truly impactful way washed over him, Chucky fixed his gaze on the front door and felt his heart stop when a man nervously shuffled into view as Michael said:
“Meet your soulmate: Daniel Pierce.”
Sarah’s husband. Oh god, his cover would be blown immediately. But of course; Chucky never truly had control over his tongue, and the first words out of his mouth when he locked eyes with his soulmate were:
“What the fork? Wait, why can’t I say fork?”

Happy Happy Christmas!!!!Yumigeta Ako (23.12.18)
Good evening🌛
I'm Yumigeta Ako🛑
Thank you very much for your comments yesterday!
I enjoyed reading about all of your jobs and careers〜!!!
...
All jobs have their challenges and special skills… I respect you all so much……
So people spend about 20〜50 years studying to perfect their career right。
But if you want to try lots of different career paths in your life you can't spend 20 years on each one…?
I want to be a police officer、and an architect、and a Starbucks barista、plus an idol but I've already achieved that!、and a florist、and an astronaut、and an interior designer、and a wedding planner、and a bank teller… plus I want to try being a Panda Nanny due to Yamazaki-san's influence…
If I spend 30 years on each one…?
30×9 is 270 years…????
That's obviously impossible…
But in the future I might actually want to go down a completely different career path insteadー
That's interesting tooー!!!!
Today I'll talk about my costume for our Christmas Event in a couple of days time‼️
It's super Christmassyー!!!!!
And my beretー!!!!
During the shoot、our makeup artist-san said
「Give it a try〜」 as she gave me this beret to wear…✨
When I was about 2 years old、I had a red beret which I really loved、and I wore it all through winter although obviously I've since gotten rid of it!
So it was my first time wearing a beret in quite a while!
I'm so glad I got to wear one〜✨💕
Plus my costume is a style I've never worn before
A checkered mini dress!!!
It's super cute〜💕💕💕
This shoot was super fun🎶
The set and the members costumes were all so cute and Christmassy🎶
Look forward to seeing our costumes in person during the event‼️
Ahー I'm so excited!!!!
You can see more details about our goods
Through this link💁♀️
Personally、winter is my favourite season…
(2nd is summer🌞🌴🌺✨ But I actually like them about the same♡)
One reason I love winter
Is Christmas‼️
And it's my first Christmas
Being able to sing and dance with you all('ω' )三( 'ω')ワクワク
I've always loved Christmas、but I bet I'll love it even more this year〜
But that's great〜!!!!
At least I think so!!!!!!
I expect
That it'll feel like spending Christmas with friends (*^^*)
I'm so excited‼️‼️‼️‼️
Today we had rehearsals for our Christmas Event🎅🎄
No matter how much we rehearsed I was grinning the whole time!
It's going to be such a fun event!!!!
I just hope I don't get ill now…!
It was super cold today😭
I'm going to stay warm by drinking some corn soup……!!!!
And And!
Christmas presents for the member-sans🎁
I actually haven't bought anything yet…
I have time before voice training tomorrow so I plan to go shopping then!
What should I buyー I'm so excitedー

Well then it's time for today's 【Gettaa Life】✨
Recently、
I've sudden become obsessed with chocolate!!!!
Three days ago I ate Takenoko no Sato🍫
Two days ago I ate Choco Balls and a Chocolate Crepe Ice Cream🍫
Yesterday I ate Black Thunder Ice Cream🍫
Today I ate a chocolate bar🍫
I wonder why…🤔💭
I really don't know what happened
But I have a sudden chocolate obsession……
Today I bought some crunchy chocolate to eat✌️
There's a café selling chocolate drinks near to where I'm going present shopping tomorrow、so I think I might go〜( ´ࠔ`* )♪
So because I'm obsessed with chocolate
I'm going to tell you all about my recommended chocolate product‼️
【Ghana Ripple】‼️
It's chocolate shaped like a pretzel🥨🍫
It's regular chocolate inside、but it feels so bougie with it's thinness and it's flavour! It's just super delicious‼️
Plus this chocolate…
Each packet has、23 pieces…‼️
Huh?
Like Morning Musume。'23?
So、I felt like it was meant to be that I ended up eating it as a part of Morning😋
Everyone please give it a try tooー!!!
You Getted 「A chocolate recommendation、from Ako」✨
Speaking of chocolate、I really love Mister Donut's Pon・De・Ring that's covered with strawberry chocolate‼️
I always order it…!
I've loved it since I was a kid!

⋆┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈⋆
T/N News and information has not been translated
⋆┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈⋆
Today I listened to anisongs on my way to rehearsals!
When I listen to anisongs、I feel like I'm in the opening scenes for an anime、and I've become a character myself!
It's strange?Like huh!!
It can't just be me right!!!!!
So I love anisongs‼️

Today I listened to
Osawa Sho-san's 「Butter-Fly」‼️

How to Find Reliable Landscapers in Frederick County: Tips for Choosing the Best Service
When it’s time to spruce up your outdoors, typing “reliable landscapers near me” into a search engine is just the first step. Choosing the right professional will shape your yard into a space of beauty and tranquility. Hawkins Landscaping Inc. is among the trusted names in the business, delivering top-notch landscaping services designed to meet your unique needs. In this article, we offer practical advice for selecting and working with local landscapers. From understanding what they provide to planning your project, you’ll find the tools needed to ensure your outdoor space flourishes. Keep reading to transform your garden into an inviting retreat with the help of the best in the field.
Finding Reliable Landscapers in Your Local Area
When embarking on a landscape project, whether it involves revamping the lawn, improving drainage, or installing a new water feature, connecting with a skilled landscaper is vital. Homeowners can streamline this search by tapping into online directories that offer an extensive list of local services. Such resources are a goldmine for information, helping to pinpoint landscapers whose skills align with your project design and budget. Paying attention to professionals with impressive ratings and reviews can provide insight into the quality of work to expect. Considering those located close by can also lead to quicker, more efficient service. Not to overlook, inquiring within one’s community often yields reliable recommendations, assuring a trustworthy partner for your landscaping needs.
Check for Landscapers With High Ratings and Reviews
Assessing the reputation of landscapers by reviewing their ratings and customer feedback can lead to a more informed decision for your project. Look for professionals who have demonstrated expertise with plant selection, irrigation systems, and the effective use of mulch, which are integral to maintaining a vibrant garden. Furthermore, reputable landscapers should possess adequate insurance to cover any potential damage, and should have a history of utilizing their lawn mowers and tools with precision and care, as evidenced by positive reviews from past clients.
Consider Proximity for Faster Service
Selecting a local landscaper can mean swifter service and more hands-on experience with regional plant life, such as the best sod and shrubs for your area. Professionals nearby can respond promptly to your project needs with their tools, like mowers and shears, at the ready. This proximity often results in closer collaboration between client and landscape architect, ensuring a tailored design that fits the unique contours of your property.
Review local landscaper options to ensure quick access to services and consultations.
Assess the availability of nearby professionals with the aptitude for timely project execution.
Ensure the local expert has the right tools, such as mowers, and a deep understanding of regional sod and shrub varieties.
Facilitate effective communication with your chosen landscape architect due to proximity.
Ask for Recommendations From Community Members
Seeking guidance from neighbors and friends about landscaping specialists can lead to valuable insights into those who excel in soil management, retaining wall construction, or even snow removal during winter months. Often, community members can recommend someone they’ve personally worked with on projects such as patio installations or laying down artificial turf, providing real-life accounts of their experiences with local experts.
Evaluate the Portfolio of Local Landscaping Companies
s you delve into the search for your ideal landscaping partner, a thorough evaluation of local companies’ portfolios can shed invaluable light on their expertise in the field. Customers should focus on identifying landscapers with experience directly related to their own project needs. A comprehensive background check includes analyzing before and after photos, which can visually communicate a company’s capacity for dramatic transformations. Additionally, it is important to scrutinize the diversity in the projects they undertake, confirming their versatility across various aspects of landscaping from design to construction. Consideration of this evidence will assist in estimating not only the potential cost but also the value and quality one might expect from their services.
Look for Experience in Your Specific Landscaping Need
Homeowners who envision turning their yard into a serene oasis should look for landscaping experts with a track record of such transformations. Experience in yard renovation can be as crucial as the skillset needed for remodeling a bathroom; it requires precise knowledge and a deft touch. A landscaper’s ability to choose the right leaf, bloom, and design elements can turn a simple garden into a retreat that complements your home and lifestyle.
Analyze Before and After Photos
In examining the portfolios of local landscaping firms, homeowners can ascertain their capacity for revamping a property by focusing on transformations that include not just plant arrangements but also structural elements like walls. Seeing the before and after photos allows for an assessment of a company’s competence in integrating landscape design with functional features such as plumbing near outdoor kitchens, revealing their multidimensional expertise.
Check for Diversity in Projects to Ensure Versatility
A landscaping firm that showcases a breadth of projects, including the placement of pavers in San Diego’s luxury homes or precision pruning in the lush gardens of Los Angeles, is an indicator of their versatility. This diversity ensures that, regardless of your zip code, the chosen professional has the experience to tailor their services to the unique challenges and climates of different locales.
Essential Questions to Ask Before Hiring a Landscaper
Once the decision is made to enhance your property with professional landscaping services, critical queries must be put forward to prospective companies to ensure they can fulfill your vision. It is prudent to question landscapers about their proficiency in specific areas, particularly if you seek intricate driveway designs or sustainable fertilizer options. A legitimate business should readily present its licensing and evidence of insurance, safeguarding your interests in the event of unforeseen issues arising during the project. Crucial to the planning phases is the discussion of how long the job will take and a transparent breakdown of costs, which avoids unwelcome surprises later. Landscapers’ claims of proficiency in varying climates, such as those encountered in Dallas and Arizona, are best verified by requesting references. Their ability to integrate lighting solutions effectively may also be evidenced through feedback from recent clients, making such inquiries an indispensable step towards selecting your ideal landscaping partner.
Inquire About Their Experience and Specialization
Before establishing a partnership with a landscaping professional, it is essential that homeowners inquire about the company’s knowledge and areas of specialization. Whether the project is based in Connecticut, where unique seasonal constraints may affect plant selection, or in metropolitan cities like San Antonio, Houston, or Philadelphia, each location demands a distinct skill set and regional expertise. Confirming that the landscaper has a track record of successful projects in these areas can give homeowners confidence in their choice.
Ask About Their License and Insurance
Checking a landscaper’s license and insurance is a vital step before hiring, as it ensures they can legally perform tasks involving concrete work, landscape lighting installations, and other services safely and responsibly. Without these credentials, property owners in Detroit, Denver, or San Francisco might face legal troubles or shoddy work that doesn’t meet local regulations.
Ensure the landscaper has a valid license to operate in your city.
Confirm that insurance is in place to protect against potential damages.
Verify their ability to conduct concrete and landscape lighting work within Detroit, Denver, or San Francisco lawfully and competently.
Discuss the Estimated Timeline and Costs
Engaging in candid conversation about the duration and costs of a landscape project is imperative for homeowners. A reputable Indianapolis landscaper should be transparent in outlining the time frame required for lawn maintenance and landscape maintenance, ensuring customer satisfaction. This transparency helps enable a smooth collaboration, with no hidden fees or unexpected delays that could impact the project’s successful completion.
Understand the Services Offered by Local Landscapers
Finding the right local landscaping professional means understanding the range of services they offer to bring your outdoor vision to life. From the initial design phase to the final installation, a skilled landscape architect will fuse aesthetics with functionality to create striking outdoor spaces. In cities such as Boston, residents often seek professionals who can not only design but also maintain the beauty of their green areas through services like pressure washing and regular care. Moreover, for those in locales like Seattle who desire more than just floral arrangements and grassy expanses, landscapers deliver specialized services, incorporating hardscaping elements that can transform yards into artful exteriors. These services may include the selection and placement of outdoor furniture, ensuring a harmonious blend of nature and comfort within your personal oasis.
Landscape Design and Installation Services
Oklahoma City homeowners seeking exceptional landscape design and installation services need to look beyond just the carpet of green grass. The right landscaper will carefully consider the placement of a new garage or the incorporation of a privacy fence into the overall aesthetic. Furthermore, their design expertise can extend to creating a seamless transition from the bustling activities of a family’s basement to the tranquility of their outdoor living space.
Maintenance and Care for Existing Landscapes
In Kansas and Minneapolis, homeowners appreciate landscapers who go beyond mere planting by offering maintenance and care programs to ensure the longevity of lush lawns and vibrant hedges. These maintenance services often come with a warranty, giving Oklahoma residents peace of mind that their outdoor investment is protected throughout the changing seasons. Specialized care routines, such as hedge trimming and health assessments, are part of these comprehensive offerings, assuring that manicured landscapes remain a source of pride for homeowners.
Homeowners in Kansas value landscapers providing long-term care for lawns and hedges.
Maintenance programs in Minneapolis often include a warranty, securing the landscape’s health.
In Oklahoma, hedge maintenance ensures outdoor spaces remain pristine and well-manicured.
Specialized Services Such as Hardscaping
Engaging in home improvement through landscaping, Baltimore residents often seek out hardscaping services to elevate their outdoor space. By incorporating stone or brick into the flooring of a patio or the construction of a garden path, these specialized offerings can significantly boost a property’s value and aesthetic appeal. Homeowners are advised to discuss pricing options with professionals to ensure a fair cost for transforming their outdoor living area into a more functional and inviting space.
How to Assess the Quality of Local Landscaping Work
Finding a competent landscaper who can transform your outdoor space into a beautiful and functional area requires due diligence. Residents who wish to upgrade their home exteriors, including elements like the garage door or a new brick path, should first verify the track record of any potential landscaping partner. The best starting point for assessing the quality of landscaping work is by reading online reviews and testimonials. These insights offer realistic reflections on a landscaper’s customer service, expertise, and ability to meet contract terms. Additionally, one should consider requesting to see the landscaper’s previous projects. Visiting completed work allows for firsthand evaluation of their craftsmanship. Lastly, the professionalism of their communication, from prompt responses to transparent discussions, can significantly influence decision-making and reflect their overall professionalism.
Read Online Reviews and Testimonials
Homeowners recognize the importance of scouring online reviews and testimonials as they search for landscaping professionals to invest in their property. The feedback often touches on how well the landscaper adapts designs to withstand the local heat and makes use of robust regional plants like the southern pine. Paying attention to these reviews can guide homeowners to a landscaper who values their investment and attentively addresses the unique climate challenges of their locale.
Request to Visit Previous Projects
To truly gauge a landscaper’s ability, it’s wise for homeowners to ask if they can visit current or completed projects. Observing how a landscaper transformed a front yard, integrating topsoil and sand for drainage and growth, provides tangible proof of their skill set and attention to detail:
Consider the quality of topsoil and sand used for project sustainability and growth.
Evaluate the transformation of a front yard to judge the landscape’s visual appeal and functional design.
Inquire about projects in varying climates to understand the landscaper’s adaptability.
Visiting completed work demonstrates the practical results of the landscaper’s prior engagements.
Evaluate the Professionalism of Their Communication
Assessing a landscaper’s level of professionalism often involves observing how they articulate the scope of services they offer, such as deck installation and snow removal. When a landscaper communicates clearly, not only does it highlight their expertise, but it also gives homeowners confidence that their vision for the landscape will be treated with the same attention and care as a delicate piece of art or a well-designed bedroom.
Tips for a Smooth Collaboration With Your Landscaper
Embarking on a landscaping journey can be likened to putting a new roof on your home; it requires careful planning and collaboration with a skilled specialist. In Pittsburgh, homeowners have the advantage of a vibrant market teeming with landscape professionals. Yet, identifying the company that resonates with your aspirations is just the beginning. For an alliance that evolves from a simple handyman task to an extraordinary outdoor creation, it’s imperative to convey your vision and expectations explicitly. Keeping the lines of communication open ensures that your ideas are brought to fruition, and any concerns are promptly addressed. Prior to any soil being turned or plants being chosen, a comprehensive contract should be in place, outlining the project scope and terms in detail, protecting both your interests and those of the landscaping company.
Clearly Define Your Vision and Expectations
To ensure a successful partnership with a landscaper, homeowners must communicate their desired outcomes and stylistic preferences clearly from the outset. Providing a detailed description of the envisioned result – be it a tranquil backyard retreat or a neatly edged, vibrant flower bed – sets a clear framework within which landscapers can operate, fostering a collaborative relationship grounded in mutual understanding and defined goals.
Establish Open and Continuous Communication
Maintaining a transparent line of communication with your landscaper is essential to ensure that your vision for the outdoor space is fully realized. Regular discussions can help adapt the plan as needed and keep the project on track, avoiding misunderstandings and ensuring the end result aligns with homeowner expectations.
Agree on a Detailed Contract Beforehand
Before any ground is broken or the plant is potted, finalizing a comprehensive contract with your landscaping professional is imperative. This legal document should meticulously detail every phase of the upcoming work, the related costs, and specific timelines. It acts as a protective measure for both parties, outlining the expectations and providing a point of reference throughout the project’s duration.
A detailed contract enumerates tasks, from vegetation planting to decorative stonework.
It specifies the financial obligations, including payment schedules and charges for potential additional work.
A clear timeline in the contract guides project milestones and completion dates.
Get Multiple Quotes to Compare Prices
Securing multiple estimates from landscaping experts in your locality is a wise approach to gauge the going rates for services you require. This step empowers homeowners by providing a spectrum of pricing options, facilitating informed decisions that respect their fiscal boundaries. Comparing quotes offers a clear view of what the market demands for specific landscaping works, such as garden design or water feature installation, ensuring financial prudence in the selection of service providers.
Understand What Factors Influence Cost
Grasping the various elements that dictate the expense of landscaping projects ensures discerning homeowners can budget effectively. Factors like the scale of the area being landscaped, the grade of materials chosen, and the complexity of the construction needed all play significant roles in determining the overall cost. Identifying these cost-driving components allows for an accurate prediction of expenses before finalizing a partnership with a landscaping professional:
Consider the project size and the corresponding amount of labor and materials required.
Choose materials wisely, as high-quality options may lead to increased durability and reduced maintenance costs.
Recognizing complex designs or features may incur additional expenses due to specialized labor or extra time to execute.
Discuss Payment Terms and Schedules
Finalizing the terms of payment and establishing a schedule are critical steps before launching a landscaping venture. During a preliminary meeting with the landscaper, it’s beneficial to determine whether payments should be made incrementally, corresponding with completed portions of the project, or at a single point after all work is finished. Negotiating these details at the outset helps safeguard a financial plan that aligns with the homeowner’s expectations and the landscaper’s cash flow requirements, ensuring a smooth financial transaction throughout the landscaping process.
Planning Your Landscaping Project Timeline
Embarking on a landscaping journey necessitates a clear roadmap, factoring in natural variables and project intricacies. Owners should account for seasonal fluctuations and weather patterns that can influence the feasibility and timing of outdoor initiatives. Comprehending the landscape transformation stages, from initial sketches to the final brushstroke of mulch, allows homeowners to appreciate the intricacies involved. An effective timeline also requires a degree of adaptability, accommodating unforeseen circumstances that may stretch the length of the project. A thoughtful schedule, crafted with these elements in mind, lays the groundwork for a harmonious partnership and successful completion of the landscaping endeavor.
Factor in Seasons and Weather Conditions
Understanding how seasonal shifts and weather conditions affect landscaping is essential for timely project completion. The success of planting, growth, and construction depends heavily on selecting the right time of year and anticipating the impact of the elements. For instance, planting in the dormant season can be beneficial for root establishment, while heavy rains might affect excavation or hardscaping work.
Select the optimal season for planting to ensure strong root development.
Plan around the local weather forecast to prevent delays in construction phases.
Take into account the effect of temperature changes on material selection and plant survival.
Understand the Process From Design to Completion
To follow the arc of a landscaping project from concept to reality, homeowners must recognize the meticulous journey involving design, material selection, and the execution of the work. It all begins with drafting a visual plan that harmonizes with the client’s aspirations, followed by the careful procurement of plants and materials that fit the envisioned aesthetic and climatic needs of the area. The project then transitions to the hands-on phase, where the design blueprint morphs into a tangible, living landscape through the concerted effort of skilled professionals.
Allow for Flexibility in the Schedule
Scheduling a landscaping project often involves unexpected adjustments, so it’s prudent to plan for such contingencies. Anticipating the need for schedule changes allows homeowners and landscapers alike to handle unforeseen events, such as delays in material delivery or extreme weather conditions, without major stress. This flexibility can lead to a more harmonious working relationship and a successful outcome for the landscaping project.
Maintaining Your Newly Landscaped Garden
Finding the right specialist for landscape design and installation marks just the beginning of a home’s outdoor transformation. After the last plant has been placed and the final stone set, the focus shifts to preserving the beauty and health of this investment. Regular maintenance visits are a cornerstone of this upkeep, ensuring the flawless appearance and robust growth of the garden. Homeowners must grasp the essentials of caring for their plants and lawn to facilitate this process. As the seasons change, recognizing the value of seasonal services is key to maintaining a garden that continues to thrive and enchant throughout the year.
Schedule Regular Maintenance Visits
Ensuring the longevity and vibrancy of your garden necessitates routine maintenance visits by your landscaping partner. These scheduled check-ins allow professionals to assess the health of your plants, address any seasonal needs, and make necessary adjustments to preserve your landscape’s aesthetic appeal. By committing to regular upkeep, you can enjoy a thriving outdoor space that stands the test of time.
Leveraging Local Landscaping Services for Property Value Enhancement
Selecting the right landscaping improvements can significantly increase a home’s market value. Savvy homeowners focus on projects that promise a high return on investment, ensuring that each dollar spent contributes to the property’s long-term financial benefit. Enhancing curb appeal becomes a central strategy not just for current enjoyment but also for boosting selling potential when the time arises. Moreover, integrating sustainable and low-maintenance design elements appeals to today’s eco-conscious buyers, making the home stand out while minimizing future upkeep costs for both the current and prospective owners.
Highlight Curb Appeal for Future Selling Potential
Enhancing the curb appeal of one’s home not only ensures pride of ownership but also serves as a crucial factor when it comes time to sell. A well-maintained and aesthetically pleasing exterior creates an inviting impression that can captivate potential buyers before they even step inside:
Invest in vibrant flora and a well-trimmed lawn to immediately attract buyer attention.
Update outdoor fixtures and ensure walkways are in pristine condition for a welcoming entrance.
Accentuate the property’s best features with strategic lighting, adding charm and security.
Conclusion
Finding the right local landscaper ensures that you benefit from their knowledge of regional plant life and custom-tailored designs. Elevated work quality and positive client feedback stand as marks of the skill and professionalism you can expect from such a partnership. With a clear contract and budget in place, a smooth workflow aids in achieving your garden’s aesthetic and functional goals. Ultimately, a trusted local landscaper from Hawkins Landscaping Inc. adds lasting value to your property, enhancing both beauty and market appeal.

Do... do you guys know about the St. Louis City Museum?
It may not look like too much from the outside, but it's pretty much exactly the experience of that hamster city, but for adult (or child) humans, and with fascinating environments and art.
First off, actually really exploring this place does involve scampering.
These are some of the exterior tunnels, which look the most tunnel-like, but the interior is also a maze of interesting openings and things that make you go "are people supposed to go in there?" and the answer is pretty much always yes.
These are some of the more noticeable ones, including one of the openings in the cave system and one of the main tube-entrances on the ground floor. And these are just the obvious examples. This is one of the few real-life spaces I've been to in my life with easter eggs: maze-rooms or environments you can find by going through that crevice or waist-high opening you just noticed.
Basically, the City Museum is what it calls an "Architecture Playground". It's an old 10-story shoe factory that an artist and architect couple turned into their pet project. They wanted to use reclaimed materials from around the city to create whimsical and fantastical environments and used the old factory as their sandbox.
And they had fun with connecting the spaces in weird and interesting ways that make you feel like you're exploring and discovering secret areas. It's as much a massive series of works of art as an attraction, and is still run by artists and playground engineers, so there's also a rotating set of striking and architecturally interesting spaces too.
And there are also areas that are just... actual museum areas, for things like natural history info and also installed art collections. You can absolutely get to them by climbing your way through the other spaces though.
(Those last two are of resin "veneer" sculptures I really liked by an artist named Dustin Yellin who makes the figures out of insanely intricate collages that make scenes like the close-up there. Reminds me of symbolist painting but in 3D interaction with the overall figure.)
And there are also components that really do just feel like a playground's been scaled up to include adults. The airplane and giant grasshopper are fun, they have a Ferris wheel, not to mention the ball pit and he castle turret.
Anyway, yeah, if you're ever in the U.S. Midwest near St. Louis and want to experience something that actually did fantastic things for my brain chemistry I'd highly recommend it. And also kneepads, you will be glad you had those too.
#tossing my thoughts into the void#just in case this interests anyone#did I mention the 10-story slide?

Why Local Expertise Matters: Choosing the Right Architects and Designers Near You
When embarking on a design or renovation project, the choice of architects and interior designers can make or break the outcome. While the allure of hiring a high-profile designer from a distant city might be tempting, there are significant advantages to choosing professionals who operate locally. Local expertise is not just a matter of convenience; it’s a strategic choice that can enhance the quality, efficiency, and overall success of your project. In this guide, we’ll explore why local expertise matters and how to choose the right architects and designers near you.
The Value of Local Knowledge
Local architects and interior designers bring a wealth of knowledge that is specific to your area. This local expertise can be invaluable in several aspects of your project, from navigating zoning laws to understanding regional design preferences.
Understanding Local Building Codes and Regulations
One of the most critical reasons to choose a near me architect is their familiarity with local building codes, regulations, and zoning laws. Every region has its own set of rules that govern what can and cannot be built, and these can vary significantly from one place to another. A local architect knows these regulations inside and out, which means they can design a building that complies with all necessary codes, reducing the risk of costly delays or legal issues down the line.
For instance, certain areas may have restrictions on building height, setbacks, or the type of materials that can be used. A local architect is well-versed in these specifics and can navigate the complexities with ease, ensuring that your project moves forward smoothly.
Insights into Local Climate and Environment
Local architects and interior designers also have a deep understanding of the regional climate and environmental factors. This knowledge is crucial for creating designs that are not only aesthetically pleasing but also practical and sustainable. For example, in a region with hot summers, a local architect might design a home with shaded outdoor spaces and strategically placed windows to maximize natural ventilation.
Similarly, affordable interior designers near me will know the best materials and design practices to use in your area to ensure durability and comfort. Whether it’s selecting weather-resistant flooring or recommending energy-efficient lighting, local designers understand the unique challenges posed by your environment.
The Benefits of Hiring Local Interior Designers
When it comes to interior design, local expertise offers a host of benefits that can significantly enhance the outcome of your project. From personalized service to a deep understanding of local aesthetics, working with an interior decorator near me can provide a level of detail and care that is hard to match.
Personalized and Accessible Service
One of the most significant advantages of hiring local interior designers is the level of personalized service they offer. Being close by means that they can easily visit your property, understand the space in person, and make informed recommendations. This accessibility also allows for more frequent meetings and real-time adjustments to the design, ensuring that your vision is fully realized.
Furthermore, working with an interior decorator near me means that they are just a short drive away if any issues arise during the project. This proximity fosters better communication and a more hands-on approach, which is crucial for complex or large-scale projects.
Understanding Local Aesthetics and Preferences
Every region has its own unique style and cultural preferences that influence design choices. Local interior designers are attuned to these nuances and can incorporate them into your project in a way that feels authentic and harmonious. Whether it’s a preference for traditional design in a historic neighborhood or a modern, minimalist approach in an urban setting, a local designer understands the context and can create a space that resonates with the local community.
Moreover, local designers often have access to a network of local artisans, craftsmen, and suppliers, which means they can source unique materials and furnishings that reflect the character of your area. This not only supports the local economy but also adds a distinctive touch to your home or business.
Cost-Effectiveness and Efficiency
Hiring affordable interior designers near me can also be a more cost-effective choice. Local designers typically have lower overhead costs compared to those who travel from other cities, which can result in more competitive pricing for their services. Additionally, their familiarity with local suppliers and contractors can lead to better deals on materials and labor, further reducing the overall cost of your project.
Local expertise also translates to greater efficiency. A local designer knows where to find the best materials quickly, understands the lead times of local suppliers, and can coordinate with local contractors seamlessly. This efficiency can significantly shorten the timeline of your project, allowing you to enjoy your newly designed space sooner.
The Advantages of Hiring Local Architects
Just as with interior designers, there are numerous benefits to hiring a near me architect who understands the local landscape, culture, and building practices.
Tailored Designs that Reflect Local Architecture
Local architects have a deep appreciation for the architectural styles and traditions that define your area. Whether you’re building a new home or renovating an existing structure, a local architect can design a space that complements its surroundings and honors the local architectural heritage.
For example, in a region known for its historic colonial homes, a local architect might incorporate traditional elements such as gabled roofs and wooden shutters into a new build, creating a design that feels both timeless and relevant. This attention to local character ensures that your project enhances the neighborhood and resonates with the community.
Strong Relationships with Local Contractors and Authorities
Another significant advantage of hiring a near me architect is their established relationships with local contractors, suppliers, and authorities. These relationships can streamline the construction process, as your architect will know which contractors are reliable and can deliver high-quality work on time and within budget.
Moreover, local architects often have good working relationships with local planning departments and building inspectors. This familiarity can expedite the approval process for permits and inspections, reducing potential delays and ensuring that your project adheres to all legal requirements.
Commitment to the Local Community
Local architects and interior designers are invested in the communities where they live and work. Their reputation is built on the success of local projects, which means they are more likely to go the extra mile to ensure your satisfaction. They take pride in contributing to the local landscape and creating spaces that enhance the quality of life in their community.
By choosing local professionals, you are not only ensuring the success of your project but also supporting the local economy and fostering a sense of community. This commitment to local excellence is something that is difficult to find with out-of-town designers and architects.
How to Find the Right Local Professionals
Now that you understand the benefits of hiring local architects and interior designers, the next step is finding the right professionals for your project. Here are some tips to help you in your search:
1. Ask for Recommendations
Start by asking friends, family, or colleagues for recommendations of affordable interior designers near me or local architects they have worked with. Personal referrals are often the best way to find reliable and talented professionals.
2. Research Online
Use online platforms, directories, and review sites to find local architects and interior designers. Look for professionals who have positive reviews and a portfolio of work that aligns with your vision.
3. Review Portfolios
Once you have a shortlist of potential candidates, review their portfolios carefully. Look for projects that demonstrate creativity, attention to detail, and a strong understanding of local design aesthetics.
4. Conduct Interviews
Schedule interviews with the top candidates to discuss your project in detail. Ask about their experience, design process, and how they handle challenges. This is also a chance to gauge their communication skills and whether you feel comfortable working with them.
5. Check References
Finally, ask for references from past clients and follow up with them to learn more about their experience working with the architect or designer. This can provide valuable insights into their work ethic and reliability.
Conclusion
Choosing the right architects and interior designers is crucial to the success of your design or renovation project. By opting for local professionals with deep knowledge of the area, you can ensure that your project is not only beautiful and functional but also in harmony with the local environment and culture. Whether you’re looking for an interior decorator near me or a near me architect, the benefits of local expertise cannot be overstated. From personalized service to cost-effectiveness, local professionals bring a level of care and commitment that is essential for achieving the best possible outcome for your project.
