Despite the decline of her circumstances, Rebecca found herself at the Lockwood manor. With much hesitation and uncertainty, she made the spontaneous decision to attend the ongoing party. Anxiously fidgeting with the sleeves of her dark-colored sweater, the brunette maneuvered through the bustling crowd, the sound of cheerful laughter echoing around her. As she approached the beverages, she briefly surveyed the room, until her eyes landed on none other than Tyler Lockwood.
The two had a history of bickering, and truth be told he drove her wild at times when they did bicker however over time, she somehow came to enjoy their little banters. So much so that she found herself pining for the guy, regardless of how mad he got her at times. A smile slowly formed on her lips as she fixed herself a drink, however, the moment she turned around she found herself attempting to use her free hand to hide her face from his view. As she was sure she had just locked eyes with the dark-haired male. She made her way over to him and placed her cup to her lips only after realizing her attempt at hiding had been futile.
"Just when you think you're rid of me, I pop right up." Rebecca started, an amused grin forming on her lips as she slowly lowered the cup from her lips. "How are you this evening, Tyler?" She inquired deciding to play nice, and not be the one to start it between the two this time.

"how did I let you drag me into this?"
[Rebecca to Damon]
Damon had somehow convinced Rebecca to not only join him on a little trip/investigation to New York but to come out to a bar with him, leading the brunette over to the bar to take a seat before he waved the bartender over and ordered for them both. The raven-haired vampire gave smirked a bit at her words, shrugging one shoulder up. "I think that's probably a question you should be asking yourself, Becca. Though it very well could've been my devilishly good looks, or my impossible to resist charm."

Rebecca and Cara hadn't been back in town long before they were certain that evidence of Eric's return had surfaced as well. They had come to the local library in hopes of using the computers to gain information on the rogue werewolf's location. The two hung out toward the back, the brothers' conversation having caught the attention of the brunette first. This had led them to their current situation, listening in to the two males' conversation just across the room. "Cara, you don't think they're talking about Eric, do you? Maybe we should go talk to them..." The brunette asked softly, as she peered over at the brothers. "Becs, for the love of anything and everything that is life, please don't do the thing here." The blonde said with a roll of her eyes before she too, peered over the computer screen to take in the brothers. "Aye cutie alert, who knows maybe if you talk to them. You might get lucky and one of them will help you with that stick up your ass." Cara teased, earning a dirty look from her younger cousin which only caused the blonde to grin slightly and shrug in response. "You astound me sometimes... And, I do not have a stick up my butt," Rebecca huffed, before glancing back over toward the brothers. Sucking her lower lip between her teeth, the brunette slowly made her way toward the direction of the brothers completely ignoring her older cousin's panicked attempts to stop her.
"Excuse me, I'm sorry to intrude, but my cousin and I couldn't help but overhear your conversation... Did you say, you were hunting a werewolf?" Rebecca asked once she reached the computer Sam and Dean were sitting at. @monsterineveryone
@w0efulsoul liked for a starter
"You really think it's here?"
"Not sure, but the trail seemed to be leading here before it went cold."
"It probably knows we're after it." Dean runs a hand over his face in frustration, watching Sam type away at one of the library's computers. The place was mostly empty aside from a couple women near the back, so neither of the brothers were being too cautious about discussing their current case.
"There aren't any reports about people being bitten by rapid dogs or wolves in this town, at least not in the past few days," Sam says, glancing back at Dean. "But I still think we should check around before we leave. That werewolf was definitely headed in this direction."
Dean pauses for a moment, thinking it over, and then nods. "Right. Well, we better find it fast, 'cause wolves that can change when it's not a full moon are never good news."

Cabaret at the Kit Kat Club review: Eddie Redmayne and Gayle Rankin dazzle in jaw-dropping Broadway revival
Willkommen, bienvenue, welcome to the hottest new show on Broadway.
By Emlyn Travis Published on April 21, 2024 09:30PM EDT
Before the end of the world, before Eddie Redmayne casts a spell with an impish grin and a slightly askew party hat, and before Gayle Rankin brings down the house with a thunderous performance of “Cabaret,” theatergoers are welcomed into Cabaret at the Kit Kat Club through a series of neon-drenched alleyways and offered a shot of cherry schnapps. In many ways, it’s a perfect representation of what they are about to experience: sweet, shocking, intoxicating, and leaves a lingering impression long after it’s finished.
More than three years after opening on London's West End and winning seven Olivier Awards, including Best Musical Revival, director Rebecca Frecknall’s celebrated take on the legendary musical has transferred to Broadway in a gritty, haunting production that is jaw-droppingly gorgeous from start to finish. The revival, which opens tonight, has set up shop at the August Wilson Theatre and no expense has been spared transforming the space into a glitzy, Weimar-era Berlin nightclub that's complete with bustling bars and intimate table seating that surrounding a contained, circular wooden stage for a theater-in-the-round experience.
Attendees are encouraged to visit the show early in order to soak up its immersive atmosphere and take in its prologue — a unique pre-show event directed by Jordan Fein that follows a collection of dancers and musicians wade through the crowds performing songs, dancing up and down staircases, and teasingly toying with audience members. That fun continues during the show's intermission too, which sees the Kit Kat Club performers bring a group of lucky theatergoers upon the main stage to play games and dance with them in a charming conga line.
Cabaret at the Kit Kat Club — which features a book written by Joe Masteroff, music by John Kander, and lyrics by Fred Ebb — follows young, queer American writer Clifford "Cliff" Bradshaw (the stellar Ato Blackson-Wood) as he travels to Berlin in hopes of finding inspiration for his next novel. On his first night, he's introduced to the Kit Kat Club and "the toast of Mayfair" Sally Bowles (Rankin), and the pair strike up a fast friendship that blossoms into something more after she decides to move into his apartment without telling him. While Cliff's stern, yet secretly warm landlady Fräulein Schneider (Bebe Neuwirth) is initially unimpressed by the development, she ultimately agrees to the deal — after all, she's much more focused on spending time with the kind, older Jewish gentleman that rents a nearby room, Herr Schultz (Steven Skybell). But this beautiful, Bohemian bubble that they've all ensconced themselves within can only endure for so long amid the Nazis ascent to power.
The evening kicks off with a drumroll and then a literal bang as perfectly timed cymbals crash together just as lighting designer Isabella Byrd reveals the Kit Kat Club's fantastically flamboyant master of ceremonies (Redmayne) standing perfectly posed underneath a single spotlight. The Oscar-winning actor, reprising the role that won him an Olivier award, somehow manages to imbue the character with both a youthful innocence and a sinister side, donning a wide grin and contorting every inch of his body into peculiar shapes that simultaneously draw you in and make you want to rear back. He paints the Kit Kat Club as a place where you can leave reality behind during the production's phenomenal opening number "Willkommen," but even he's unable to keep the horrors that are unfolding outside the club's doors from slowly taking center stage.
Redmayne, both a literal Emcee for the club’s patrons as well as metaphorical representation of the spirit of the time period, soaks up the spotlight like it was made for him. He revels in the dark duality that Cabaret presents, gleefully ripping off his clothing and leaping offstage during its vivacious first act, only to end up staring despondently into the darkness from the set's edge in its second. And speaking of clothing, Cabaret has some of the most breathtaking costumes currently on Broadway — courtesy of the phenomenal scenic, theater, and costume designer Tom Scutt — including a see-through skeletal ensemble that Redmayne sports during his knockout performance of "Money" is one of the most delightfully frightening looks of the evening, from his stark makeup all the way to his elongated, bejeweled fingernails attached to the end of each glove.
While the Emcee adores all of the Kit Kat Club’s endlessly talented ensemble, it’s easy to see why he holds a special fondness for the cabaret’s headliner, Sally Bowles. Rankin is nothing short of spectacular as the ostentatious performer, knowing when turn on her character's charming nature and when to pull back the curtain to reveal a weariness that makes it feel as if life's hardships have been weighing on her shoulders for centuries. Still, when the curtain lifts and the spotlight beams down upon her, Rankin ensures that Sally transforms into an unforgettable star with her coquettish performances of "Don't Tell Mama" and "Mein Herr." However, it's her rendition of "Maybe This Time," soft and full of hopeful surrender, that truly makes Sally's eventual arc within the musical that much more affecting.
Meanwhile, Neuwirth’s Fräulein Schneider and Skybell's Herr Schultz’s bring a sweet romance to Cabaret, only for theatergoers to witness as their bond is slowly tarnished by outside forces beyond their control. As an older woman, the fiery Fräulein Schneider sings about feeling hopeless to the changing of the political tides in the searingly poignant "What Would You Do?", while Herr Schultz swears that his proud German citizenship will protect him from the dangers that loom ahead — a devastating declaration that is made even more heartbreaking given that viewers are aware of what lies ahead. Instead, it is only Blackson-Wood's clever Cliff who is able to see the situation clearly and understand that the writing is on the wall.
Frecknall, who recently completed another celebrated West End revival of A Streetcar Named Desire, leans heavily into the spookiness of Cabaret's second act and refuses to pull her punches. In one scene, the Emcee interrupts a tender moment between Fräulein Schneider and Herr Schultz to step upon a glass only for the stage to plummet into darkness as explosions ring out around them, reminiscent of Kristallnacht. When the lights return, the pair can only stare at one another in shock as debris rain down upon them. And, while Cabaret is no stranger to exhibiting wonderfully risqué behavior onstage, Frecknall also ensures that the sex work depicted within the musical is shown as a means of survival for its performers too, who spin through Julia Cheng's dazzling onstage choreography with passion and gusto.
There’s a reason why Cabaret at the Kit Kat Club is one of the hottest tickets on Broadway right now. It’s an unforgettable, immersive experience that lures audiences in with visions of sweet, sweet hedonism before bowling them over with a harrowing, unflinching tale that will have them reflecting on present day parallels and their place within the world long after they leave the theater. Come to the Cabaret, ol’ chum. There’s nothing quite like it.

𝓑𝓪𝓬𝓴𝓼𝓽𝓸𝓻𝔂:
Until age 5, Becca grew up with her parents in Denver, Colorado. The evening of May 23rd however, a tragic car accident robs the five-year-old of her parents leaving her hospitalized and orphaned. Once out the young brunette was quickly ushered into the care of an immediate family member.
After being taken in and raised by her aunt Cindy and uncle Randy, Becca continues to lead a somewhat normal existence, even striving for a degree in zoology. Developing a close bond with her older cousin Cara and her best friend Emma Hill, the trio grew up practically inseparable. However, Becca's life took a turn for the worse when she entered into a damaging relationship with a man named Eric. This relationship persisted throughout her time in high school, gradually deteriorating due to his volatile temper and abusive behavior towards her. The situation between them escalated when she started investigating Eric's mysterious disappearances during the nights he claimed to be "hunting". Matters reached a boiling point when, at the age of twenty-one, Becca engaged in a particularly brutal fight with Eric, resulting in her seeking refuge with her cousin Cara. Fed up with the situation, Becca made the decision to end her relationship with Eric. Unfortunately, Eric did not take this news well. Reacting with anger upon hearing her desire to break up, he violently attacked her. This confrontation ultimately led to their separation, with Eric promising that he would come back for her, but in a completely different guise.
The brunette needed two years to recover from her toxic relationship with Eric. She worked hard during this time by attending college and earning her master's degree in Zoology. She also took the time to rediscover herself. While in college, she met a young woman named Mayleen Wilson and they quickly formed a strong bond, becoming close friends. Sadly, her time in college was cut short by a tragic accident involving her uncle, which required her to return home.
Following the untimely and devastating demise of her uncle, Becca's life once more descended into disarray. Struck in the torso by a workhorse, Randy suffered a heart attack, succumbing to his injuries shortly after arriving at the hospital. It wouldn't be long before misfortune struck again. The stress caused by the disappearance of Emma Hill compelled Rebecca to urgently seek answers and search for her closest companion. Approaching her elder cousin Cara, Becca persuades her to accompany her to New York, where Emma's trail led them to Cold Spring.
During this time, Eric persistently pursues her and unexpectedly crosses paths with her once more, determined to fulfill his threat to her. This encounter left the brunette grappling with a challenge unlike any she had encountered before. Employing his claws and teeth, the Lycan sank his teeth into her body before she successfully managed to evade the canine. After successfully fleeing, Rebecca searches for her cousin and is promptly taken to the hospital. There, medical professionals attend to the several bites on her arms and numerous scratches on her abdomen. Following her discharge, the brunette isolates herself in her room for multiple hours, experiencing symptoms resembling influenza, until she ultimately undergoes the transformation into a Lycan. Noticing the abrupt disturbance, Cara checks her younger cousin, and their ensuing interaction leads to Rebecca biting Cara, condemning her to the life of a Lycan as well.
Shortly thereafter, Rebecca and Cara are able to locate Emma and the three have a tearful reunion. Upon reuniting with their childhood friend, Rebecca shared the details of her and Cara's current predicament, how Eric was the one behind it, and that he was still out there. It was during this conversation that Rebecca discovered the reason behind Emma's abrupt absence and how she had become involved in the Lycan world as well. After realizing the importance of staying together and finding a secure place to reside, the three individuals had a discussion to consider their options. Ultimately, they agreed to contact Becca's acquaintance May, who promptly extended an invitation for them to stay with her in Cottonwood Falls, Kansas. Once settled, the group get to know each other and their situation better through conversation. During their discussion, the girls revealed that they had become werewolves and Mayleen shared her own connection to the supernatural. The witch suggested that she could help hide them and advised them to lay low for the time being. However, over the following weeks, Becca received news from a pair of hunters who happened to be close friends of May's, that Eric had arrived in town.
Becca expresses her concerns about Eric to the rest of the group and proposes that they take the initiative to attack him first upon learning of his return. However, the group becomes anxious and advises her that they may not be adequately prepared for a confrontation and that she herself might not have full control over her abilities. Despite these warnings, Becca disregards them. Seeking assistance from the two hunters, she implores them to join her in confronting Eric at an abandoned warehouse on the town's outskirts. During the confrontation, Eric manipulates Rebecca's thoughts by revealing why he had done everything he had to her, telling her she was nothing more than a pawn in his revenge plan towards her aunt, causing her to become angry and disoriented. This leads her to undergo a transformation into a wolf and turn against the two hunters who were assisting her, ultimately resulting in their deaths. In a final act, Becca manages to injure Eric before he successfully escapes, leaving Rebecca to revert to her human form and face the consequences of the chaos she had caused. May receives the devastating news of their friends' demise from Rebecca, burdened with shame, guilt, and deep remorse. The witch refrains from holding Rebecca accountable for the tragic sequence of events, yet their relationship becomes strained. Despite the absence of blame, Rebecca finds it impossible to absolve herself, pledging that she will never repeat her errors and that their deaths will serve a purpose. Committed to rectifying the harm inflicted, Rebecca, Cara, Emma, and May seek out a sibling duo of werewolves (named Stratus and Gordon) who impart the knowledge of voluntary transformation, rather than solely relying on the full moon. The ordeal proves arduous for Rebecca, Cara, and Emma. She now travels on her own from one safe house to another, searching for any clue that could lead her to Eric's whereabouts. Her determination to put an end to his reign of terror over her and her loved ones growing stronger and stronger. Along with her desire to redeem herself, she faces many more challenges accompanied by an uncertain future.
“Was it Eric that you saw though?”
“Yes... He had turned into a wolf though...."
𝓗𝓸𝓫𝓫𝓲𝓮𝓼/𝓛𝓲𝓴𝓮𝓼
Becca is an avid reader who enjoys spending time in nature and with animals. She also has a talent for drawing and singing. Swimming is another skill she possesses, and she loves to travel whenever she can. In her spare time, she tries her hand at gardening, though she often struggles to get started. Becca is a movie fan, with a particular love for the Jurassic Park/World series, Lord of the Rings, scary movies, Planet of the Apes series, Disney films, and many others. She also has a habit of collecting cute tiny objects, small animal character trinkets are her favorite though.
𝓗𝓪𝓫𝓲𝓽𝓼
Becca displays a variety of anxious behaviors, such as embracing herself, biting her lower lip, and toying with any accessories she adorns. Additional behaviors include babbling about trivial trivia regarding animals, stroking her hair, and constantly fidgeting. Compliments quickly cause her cheeks to redden, and she may even adjust or squirm in her seat, as she is unaccustomed to receiving such praise. However, when she does receive it, it tends to elate her significantly. When feeling nervous or anxious, Becca may exhibit another behavior. Stumbling over her words tends to be one of her main sources of frustration, and she becomes even more flustered when it occurs. The brunette often struggles with sitting still when excited or elated, easily leading to bouncing in place or other awkward movements. She can be quite clumsy and tends to hit her head frequently in various situations.

She jolted awake and shot up, letting out a soft gasp, raising her right hand slightly in a defensive posture, while trying to focus on calming her breathing, still feeling dazed. It was Tyler's hands gripping hers that ultimately made her lower her raised hand, as she slowly turned to face him. " I'm sorry Tyler, I didn't mean to wake you... " She whispered gently, giving his hands a tender squeeze in return, before releasing a trembling exhale. " It was just some unpleasant memories that, I suppose, resurfaced. " The brunette spoke, still uncertain as to what exactly triggered their resurgence. It had been such a long time since she had dreamt about her parents' deaths and the horrific car accident they all endured. Much less the night Eric had destroyed the only mementos she had of them, and the horrifying moments that ensued after said destruction.
Perhaps it was the current situation that brought back these old ghosts. Perhaps being chased and hunted which had essentially forced them on the run, had brought the nightmares on. Regardless, being on the run was something she had been far too used to. It was the feeling of his arms embracing her and him pulling her closer to his chest, that she came from her thoughts and had her nestling against him without hesitation as her arms wrapped themselves around him in return. She buried her face into his shoulder, as his lips pressed themselves against her head where his chin once rested. She hung on to each word he whispered, as she slowly lifted her head so she could look at Tyler better. " I know, " Rebecca started before pausing briefly and closing her eyes to recollect herself and swallow the thick lump that had formed in her throat. " I know I can talk to you, and I trust you. " Rebecca whispered softly, tucking her head back into his shoulder as she heaved a heavy sigh. " It was about my parents, and... Eric. " She finally said after a moment of silence, as she tightened her arms around him. " It was just... One of those things that completely sneak up on you, you know? I hadn't dreamt of them, him, or any of that in so long... I don't even know what brought them on... "

“No, I-I’m okay. It was just a nightmare. Go back to sleep.”
⚰️ ―――― TYLER HAD BEEN AWOKEN BY REBECCA IN THE DEAD OF NIGHT FROM HER CONSTANT TOSSES AND TURNS AS SHE SLEPT. he was already half-awake when @w0efulsoul had shot up from her sleeping position, seeming so frightened by the way her breathing pattern was inconsistent. he sat up when she had and turned on his side to face her, hands finding hers to bring her back down to reality, squeezing them with care. “ i’m already awake, rebecca. what was your nightmare about ? ” he asked, concerned clear in his tone. he couldn’t imagine what her nightmare could’ve been about with everything that’s been transpiring in their lives. from klaus chasing him, causing tyler to be a fugitive on the run and the same monster in search of more wolves just he and rebecca. no where seemed safe for the both of them; so the nightmare she experienced had to have been terrifying and tyler just wanted to do what he could to make her feel better, more grounded. He brings her in close for a loving embrace, chin resting atop her head as he cuddled her in closer to his chest, “ you can talk to me, you know. we’re in this together ” he whispers then places a tender kiss where his chin rested.

The Ghost of Captain James Byrd
Photo provided by: Buffalo News
"Local legend, folklorists and supernatural guides have it that the old hotel on Hamburg’s shore – known for decades as Dock at the Bay and more recently as Dos Amigos – is haunted by the ghost of Captain James Byrd."
"The sad tale goes that Byrd was a member of Commodore Oliver Hazard Perry’s crew aboard the USS Lawrence, anchored off Hamburg’s shore during the War of 1812, and that Byrd regularly left the ship without leave for trysts with his girlfriend at the Willink Hotel, which is what the Dock at the Bay was called at that time.
When Perry learned of this desertion, according to the local legend, he ordered Byrd shot. And Byrd’s spirit now haunts the old hotel, the spirit guides say.
Like the telling of many old stories, there is some truth to this tale. But several of the facts became twisted with age and retelling. Nonetheless, the real story – though murky in some ways – is more tragic than the folklore.
Photo provided by: Buffalo News
In fact, the true story generated much sympathy – even anger – among many Americans two centuries ago, and led to a ballad so popular that it was recited for decades by residents of Western New York, Pennsylvania and Ohio.
“In the early nineteenth century, when the new nation was still forging its identity, Bird’s heroism and subsequent death served the competing interests of partisan politics and national mythmaking while also reminding the postrevolutionary generation of the dangers of arbitrary power,” according to Traci Langworthy, writing in The Pennsylvania Magazine of History and Biography.
Newspapers and archives do record an execution on Lake Erie for desertion during the War of 1812. But the man’s name was James Bird. He was a soldier-marine. And he was a corporal.
Bird was arrested and then executed for desertion from Perry’s flagship, the Lawrence. That much is certain. But explanations for his desertion varied – from romantic to patriotic to pragmatic.
And by all accounts, he fought bravely a year earlier during the pivotal Battle of Lake Erie.
Bird was born Dec. 20, 1785, to John and Rebecca Montanye Bird.
He volunteered for the War of 1812 in the Wilkes-Barre area of Pennsylvania, where the family had moved, and was a member of a company of artillerymen that marched to Erie, Pa., according to the "History of Luzerne County." In Erie, Commodore Perry needed volunteers for his nine newly constructed ships that were to take on the British ships wreaking havoc on American settlements on Lake Erie. Bird volunteered as a marine.
During the Battle of Lake Erie in September of 1813 – famous for Perry’s after action report, “We have met the enemy, and they are ours” – Bird was aboard the flagship Lawrence. Though seriously wounded, he continued to fight valiantly.
“Towards the close of the engagement, a canister shot struck him on the shoulder as he was stooping to his gun,” The Wilkes-Barre Gleaner reported Nov. 16, 1813, in an account of Bird’s heroics during the battle. “He was instantly covered with blood, and his officer ordered him below. He ventured to disobey, preferring to do duty while he had life to abandoning his post. But the blood flowed so fast that another order was issued to go below. He ran down, got a hasty bandage on the wound, came again on deck and although his left arm was useless – yet he handed cartridges and performed the utmost service in his power with his right, until the stars and stripes waved gloriously over the foe.”
A year later, Bird had recovered from his wounds and was again a crew member of the Lawrence. It wasn’t long before he got into his fatal trouble.
He left the ship without leave.
One version of his desertion suggests a pragmatic explanation. He believed his enlistment was up.
“During the War of 1812, soldiers and sailors had little knowledge of military law and were tenacious of their rights as citizens,” Chautauqua County Historian Obed Edson explained in a paper delivered Sept. 19, 1913, to the Chautauqua Society of Historical and Natural Science.
Bird and some others thought they had enlisted just for the Battle on Lake Erie, according to Edson, so he and a few shipmates headed for home.
But the Americans were preparing for another battle with the British, an invasion of Canada, and one officer wanted to make an example of deserters. In this account, Bird and two others were arrested in Westfield and returned to the ship in Erie for court martial.
Then there is the patriotic explanation for the desertion.
That comes from the “History of Luzerne County.” Bird had learned of the intended attack on New Orleans and marched off with others to join Gen. Andrew Jackson’s forces, according to this version. He was apprehended in Pittsburgh and brought back for court martial.
“Poor fellow! Shot for an excess of bravery,” the author wrote.
The romantic explanation of Bird’s desertion comes from the folk ballad. The ballad has it that he left the ship to visit his sweetheart, Mary Blain, who was seriously ill, in Forsyth, Pa.
Where all these explanations agree is that Bird was tried and executed quickly after capture.
A court martial was hastily arranged, and Bird and two other deserters were condemned to death. An appeal to stay Bird’s execution until Perry – who was not in Erie at the time – could review the court martial was denied. One naval officer refused to sign his death warrant, but another officer did.
One of the deserters, a man named Davis, was hanged from the mast of the USS Niagara, while Bird and the third deserter, a man named Rankin, were forced to kneel over their coffins and shot on the ship’s deck.
“All three men were buried on the sandy flat at the entrance to the Erie Harbor,” Capt. Daniel Dobbins, who was present, later wrote,
On the day before he died, Bird wrote a farewell letter to his family that was printed in the Wilkes-Barre Gleaner soon after his execution. It reads in part:
“I am the most miserable and desolate child of the family – Dear Parents, let my brothers and sisters read this letter, for it is the last they can ever receive from my hand, for by the law of our country I am doomed and sentenced to death for deserting from the marines at Lake Erie ... . I have but a few moments to make peace with my maker. I leave you only for a short time here in this most troublesome world; but I hope that by the constant prayer we shall meet in the world above.”
Bird gave no explanation for his desertion, and he became a martyr to many. The pathetic story of James Bird was familiar to all living along the frontier, and was commemorated in the ... ballad written in sympathy with popular feeling,” according to the Centennial History of Chautauqua County. “For many years it was the most popular of ballads. It was so often sung and repeated as to be transmitted to the present time in many instances by the memory alone.”
The popularity of the ballad and the tyranny of his death resonated with many on the frontier for decades.
“One element of the ballad’s reception remained constant over time: the willingness of Bird’s admirers to overlook the youth’s potential flaws, lest they jeopardize his merits as a folk hero,” Langworthy wrote in The Pennsylvania Magazine of History. “Over time, the ballad nearly became secondary to the anecdotes surrounding it, and the “truth” of the young marine’s life became as malleable as its meaning.
While some may claim that James Bird’s ghost haunts a hotel in Hamburg, residents in northeastern Pennsylvania claim his remains.
He was reburied in Forty Fort Cemetery, Wilkes-Barre, in 1935 with a monument dedicated by the Luzerne County Chapter of Daughters of 1812.”

Name: Emma Kay Hill Gender: Female Sexuality: Bisexual Nationality: American Age: 129 Date of Birth: Feb. 26th Place of Birth: Denver Colorado Places of residence: Cold Spring, New York, and many safehouses located around the US and Canada thanks to May. Languages: English, ASL (American sign language) Species: Human turned werewolf Hairstyle & Color: Blonde, usually down and wavey Height & Weight: 5' 7", 135lbs Former Occupation: Part-time sales associate in retail
ℙ𝕖𝕣𝕤𝕠𝕟𝕒𝕝𝕚𝕥𝕪:
Initially appearing arrogant, Emma adopts the persona of a party-loving sorority girl in order to maintain emotional barriers between herself and those she has developed affection for. However, if someone quickly identifies her facade and challenges her, she will readily retreat in a rather timid manner. Emma deeply regrets her actions during the loss of her pack, and she is willing to go to great lengths to safeguard and support others in need, even if it means protecting them from herself. Her pursuit of redemption is driven by her desire to compensate for the bloodshed endured by her former pack, and it has instilled within her a protective instinct when it comes to those she cares for, as she fears losing them. The unexpected encounter with Cara and Becca ignites a newfound obsession in this young wolf, prompting her to travel from New York to Denver, Colorado just to ensure the well-being of her friends and family. Emma's loyalty knows no bounds, and she tends to remain steadfastly by the side of those she holds dear, regardless of their rightness or wrongness, even if it places her in perilous circumstances. Inherited from her mother and father, Emma possesses a compassionate nature and an immense capacity for love. She wears her heart on her sleeve and is willing to get her hands dirty for the sake of her loved ones.
𝔹𝕒𝕔𝕜𝕤𝕥𝕠𝕣𝕪:
"I had a comfortable and privileged upbringing in Denver, Colorado. I grew up with a loving family and lived in the suburbs. My mother, older brother, and older sister were my role models and I even tried to emulate them. As I got older, I developed new interests and decided to pursue a career in paleontology. I excelled in high school and achieved the highest score in my classes for the SATs."
This would be the lie Emma would share with everyone she met, that she had a good life full of love and laughter. However, the truth was that she struggled to gain attention from her parents due to her older siblings' achievements. She lived in the shadow of her siblings and their accomplishments, leaving the young blonde consistently envious of her siblings throughout her elementary and middle school life. Her relationship with her parents would not be any better, as she would catch her mother being unfaithful at age seven. During one of her mother's trysts with a strange man, Emma, who was at home due to a fever, walked in on her mother. Emma was immediately rushed out by her mother and was blamed for her mother's disloyalty towards her father while being told to never tell him about it in order to keep the child silent. Emma then distanced herself from her father because of her mother's infidelity all while keeping her mother's dirty secret through the remainder of her childhood.
During her high school years, the young lady forms a strong bond with her closest companions, Rebecca Byrd and Cara Zimmermen. The trio quickly become inseparable and spend a significant amount of time together. However, all good things must come to an end, and Emma eventually leaves her hometown to pursue her education at Cornell University. This decision proves to be life-altering for her. In a fateful encounter with a female werewolf, the blonde is viciously attacked and bitten on her shoulder. She spent the following weeks healing and recovering from her injuries. But could never shake off her flu-like symptoms, Emma experiences a transformation, becoming the very creature that had harmed her. After unintentionally attacking one of her dear friends from college, she decides to abandon her studies and live a solitary existence. Fully aware that she can never return to her beloved family.
After several months, the youthful werewolf discovers a group of fellow creatures and eventually settles in, although she never establishes a strong connection with any particular member of her newfound "family". Deemed an outsider, Emma experiences isolation and detachment from much of the pack's communication, feeling even more solitary than she had before. However, her life takes another turn as the fair-haired werewolf aids in defending their territory against a rival pack. It then appears as if her pack is finally beginning to accept her. Yet, this moment of tranquility is abruptly shattered when the wolf pack is once again targeted in an attack. This time, the wolf remains hidden during the confrontation, observing as the intruders annihilate her entire pack. Left with little choice, Emma must once again abandon her home. Upon arriving in New York, fate intervenes as she unexpectedly encounters her long-lost companions from a time she believed was beyond her reach. Immediately, she begins to follow them, hoping to reunite with them. Her only lingering concerns: How will the girls respond to her "new life?" And why did they seem so... Different?
Upon her emotional reunion with Rebecca and Cara, she learns that they too are werewolves. Revealing why she had disappeared and what had become of her, the group swiftly decided to stick together and get into contact with a witch named May. After deciding that the safest place for the three would be with May, they settle with the witch, however, it doesn't take long for trouble to find them once again. Having discovered Eric's presence in town Emma and Becca wind up butting heads and she cautions the young brunette Lycan that she may not be ready for such an encounter. However, her words go unheeded resulting in the death of two human hunters the group had managed to befriend.
Emma, who had developed feelings for one of the hunters, seemed to hold some resentment toward her long childhood friend, regardless of Mayleen's forgiveness. Emma's frustration was further enhanced when Cara announced that she planned to turn Mandy so that she could join the pack just three months after the incident with Eric and everything they had been through with Stratus. Concerned about the consequences of her friend's actions, Emma speaks against the changing of Mandy only for the two wolves to get into a fight. Angered by Emma, Cara snaps at the blonde and reminds Emma of her leaving when needed most, then suggests she does it again, resulting in Emma "wolfing out" and lunging at Cara who had already become a wolf to counter her assault. The two stopped only due to Stratus ripping them apart, she then lectured the two on being more of a unit before sending them in their separate ways with Emma's word going unheeded. Ultimately resulting in Mandy's death.
Still upset and emotionally wounded from both her fights with her childhood friends and that neither had heeded her words, the white wolf takes off on her own deciding she needs the space. She now resides in the woods on the outskirts of a small town in South Carolina called, McConnells.
"It sucks... You know? I could never go back... Never see my friends, my sister... My dad... My brother... So, I do this... I just watch and hope eventually... They'll move on and forget me somehow."
ℍ𝕆𝔹𝔹𝕀𝔼𝕊
Emma doesn’t have too many hobbies, besides obsessing over her old life, she doesn’t really make time for herself. However, there are some things she enjoys doing. Reading is one of her favorite pastimes, though curling up and watching movies is a close second. And she’s not one to go against any form of mischief, in fact, it's one of her favorite things to do. However, if there’s one thing this girl loves to do more than anything… It’s digging. Digging up bones from an ancient past.
ℍ𝔸𝔹𝕀𝕋𝕊
Emma has a tendency to pace when she is anxious, stressed, or restless. She is known for being quite open about her emotions, and her numerous habits are a clear indication of how she is feeling. Whenever she is extremely happy or excited about something, she tends to express it loudly. This typically involves consuming alcohol, which she frequently relies on more than she should. As mentioned earlier, Emma has a tendency to fixate on her past life, particularly the individuals who were a part of it. It is difficult for her to let go, and she often travels extensively to check up on people she used to know. However, she never strays too far and prefers to remain close to those who have remained in her life.

In order to cheer one up, she'll make them tiny snacks. (I/E Dino nuggies, octopus-shaped hot dogs, fries with a ketchup smiley face, flower, or heart on the plate.)
Will spend many sleepless nights investigating any form of werewolf activity in hopes of it leading her to Eric. As she is determined to be the one to kill him.
She keeps a secret pure silver dagger to use on Eric.
When out and about she has to stop at every dog, when out and about, just to pet the animal and learn its entire life's story. It tends to drive Cara and the others absolutely insane.
A personal favorite song of hers is "Somewhere Over the Rainbow." As it tends to cheer her up often when down and depressed.
