If youve seen it, whats your opinion on bwII megatron and rid2001 megatron?

beast wars ii does something new with megatron: instead of having the megatron→galvatron development, it slips the two into brothers of the names megastorm and galvatron. and people complained about IDW making galvatron his own character; beast wars ii did it about a decade earlier!

i think megastorm is hilarious, and his dynamic with galvatron is even funnier. i'm normally not fond of the "sucks up to older sibling/wants to be better than older sibling" trope, but megastorm is hilarious because he's a failure in about every regard. nobody likes him. dirge & thrust don't give a shit about his leadership and BB & starscream are too busy enacting romeo & juliet. i understand why people don't like when megatron and megatron stand-ins are portrayed as incompetent—especially this one, which not only makes him more incompetent but also a coward—but given the more comedic nature of beast wars ii, i think it fits him perfectly here.

it helps that although megastorm is a failure, he's also scary when he needs to be. this show does something different from regular megatrons; although neither physically abuse his peers, both brothers are scary enough for them to noticeably flinch.

(don't worry, he doesn't hurt her at all throughout the series. she and him just don't get along; she likes galvatron as a leader much more!)

and when we get to galvatron in this series... i love him! his scary demeanor is played for laughs (he literally talks through his teeth; he rarely ever ungrits his teeths), but on his introduction you know well enough what he's capable of for everyone to be wary of his arrival. and despite what he's built up as, he... oddly cares for his men. in fact, he never once mistreats them like other galvatrons do. the reason for megastorm's step-down as leader is because dirge, thrust, BB and starscream (especially her) heavily prefer galvatron as leader. galvatron is a pretty nice guy in this installment.

now, on rid2001 megatron: like megastorm and galvatron, who are entirely different characters from G1 megatron/galvatron, rid2001 megatron is also a case of this. he's a separate character from G1 megatron, and in japanese is actually called gigatron (ギガトロン). i highlight the issue here because unlike megastorm, his [localized] name is literally just megatron without some divergence to make it different. this leads to people judging him as if he's G1 megatron, despite the fact he's not.

with that out of the way, i think i've grown to like him. he's more of a standard villain, sort of generic in motivation complete with evil monologuing and poor henchman treatment, but i don't think these are inherently bad. the focus is not really on him, but his men (and boy are those some good men. sky-byte FTW). he's not going to be as colorful as they are, because he's meant to be more of a final boss; the character where the Real Shit happens.

i especially like the english dub of him, because i remember his weird pauses during talking.

he has funny moments (can't find the screenshot but that one with the caption of "you guys know i hate these kind of bad jokes" is my favorite quote from him), and i like when he gets angry because it's not at all scary but hilarious. rid2001 is a joke everyone is in on except him, and that's great.

It wasn't often that the old train got a day off. A true day off. He was always either busy fighting Predacons and Decepticons or hauling passengers to their destinations.

Not that he minds the second one. He likes having new gossip for you about something cute or funny one the people riding had done or said.

He's right in the middle of telling you a story about how these two little kids, a brother and sister, accompanied by their mother, were having an argument over who was the best baseball player. Apparently the sister didn't like her brother's answer and knocked his hat off his head by slapping the brim up.

His optics light up and he smiles as he tells you how the brother huffed and picked it up, shaking the hat in front of the girl in a silly way before stomping to the other side of his mother and sitting down with his arms crossed while repeating his answer.

You notice the shine in his optics everytime he tells you a story about the people who rode on him. Like he's truly amazed at how lively humans are. The love he shows for your kind makes you fall more and more in love with him each day.

Without thinking you lean forward, lips pursed, and place a soft kiss on his cheek while he talks.

He stops mid sentence before letting out a playful chuckle, "Well now, what was that for?" He asks with a smile.

"I just love you." You smile, leaning in and to give him another, soft, gentle kiss on his temple this time.

"Well that's as good a reason as any I guess!" He smiles and kisses the top of your head, "I love you too sweetheart."

You snuggle down against his neck, placing another kiss, "You can finish your story now. I'm listening."

He lets out a content little laugh and leans his helm to the top of your head, "Alright. Now where was I? Oh, yeah! So the little girl-"

You listen to him continue, amused by the small things that get a kick out of him, and you hope soon enough you'll get to have days like this with him every day.

But ok... I didn't think too much of the Cybertronians ships for some reason, but I will answer your ask with what I can!

Spike Witwicki, Charlie Watson, and Memo were the first humans to discover the Autobots, for then be found by the government, taking place the events of the Bumblebee movie with some crack moments of G1 (still not all humans known about the Bots and Cons). They worked for years together.

But while those parts of the story were happening, in other parts of the world like Japan, Tokyo, Canada, Mexico, and small cities, were other bots with their own human companions fitting the Decepticons, taking part in the events of the Unicron Trilogy Armada and Energon (Just that OP and Megs didn't take part on the events, they where small battles between other bots)

But then, the end of G1 happened, Spike mary Carly and had Daniel, Charlie mary Memo (they didn't have children but they still worked a lot) in time, they also discovered the other small groups of bots around the world fighting their own battles.

While the other got sink by work, Bee and other bots started to meet other humans, starting the cycle again! There's where Bee meets Sari Sumdac thanks to Isaac Sumdac helping the bots in repairing their weapons. By "accident" then he meets Raf Esquivel and Jack Darby saving them from the cons.

So, the TFA, TFP, and headmaster's cartoons events happen at the same time! While TF Cybertron, Rescue Bots, RID2001, and RID2015 happen at the same time too.

But in the part of which Bot partner the humans have, it really can change, they arent their permanent partners, sometimes they do a switcharoo thing.

And do ship some canon human/transformers couples! Like Marissa Fireborn x Thundercracker!!

i used to watch reruns of the unicron trilogy i Think and then i saw tf2007 and i was like this is familiar i should rewatch the old show but i couldn’t find it but i ended up watching a quarter of g1, rid2001, armada, tfa and tfp so. i was hooked

i hope you don’t mind me hopping on this post but i’m a big tf fan and i like to talk about tf So Much and i wanted to rec some stuff if tfp isn’t the cup of tea!

so like, tfp is very Serious in comparison to other tf cartoons so it’s not everyone’s cup of tea! it definitely goes more of a dark route but it does have some fun and light humor, though less so in later seasons! i’d def recommend it bc i liked it but with the knowledge that not everyone will like it i’d like to suggest some other standalone tf recs that you can watch on reputable sites for free (most of these are vague bc i don’t wanna spoil):

cyberverse is on youtube posted by hasbro themselves! it’s a lot cartoony and definitely less serious than tfp until like season 3. the first season is definitely a little week, but seasons 2 and 3 have solid story and characters! also the animation is very cute! (season 1, season 2, season 3 (the eps are backward in this playlist for some reason but i think they’re done uploading episodes!))

g1 is obviously the classic! it’s very very campy and there are a lot of animation errors but it’s a lot of fun! this is the most you’ll see of a lot of minor and major characters honestly (i miss jazz). not much really happens plot wise until transformers: the movie but i can’t find it for free online. just know that bitches die and you’ll be fine though (tubi link)

tfa is another staple! it’s considered one of the best cartoons along with tfp and i think cyberverse now! it’s campier than tfp but it’s a bit more serious than early cyberverse! it’s fun! it makes you feel! the animation is cute! it’s a major departure from other tf media though, so the lore doesn’t really match up with anything else but it’s fine bc it’s standalone! beast wars is also largely considered a fandom staple! the animation’s a lot wonky since it’s from the 90s but, as i’m currently watching it, i think the story’s good so far! the tfs are animals in this and technically it’s a g1 spin off but you don’t need to watch g1 to get it! also megatron has a rubber duck and despite the names none of the characters are actually the ones from g1 (tubi link)

armada is one of the many tf animes! i’ve not seen it but i plan to watch it soon! it’s v starscream centric apparently though and gives you feelings! the boy makes friends! it has two sequel series: energon and cybertron (armada tubi link)

rid2001 is another anime and i don’t even know enough about it to write a quick summary but someone uploaded what i think are all the episodes to youtube so here

I want EVERYONE's opinion on this: I've never watched any Transformers media. I do kinda like robot-based media, though. Should I watch TFP? -- FC

HI FC!! :D Okay so I wasn’t able to get ALL of the characters to jump on board and start answering this, but I will fill in for them!

Transformers Prime is the only Transformers continuity I have ever consumed, and I enjoy it immensely. It’s like, it’s own little stand-alone continuity, you don’t have to know anything about any other TF verse in order to enjoy it! It may have some references here and there that have gone over my head (luckily I have an epic girlfriend who has seen/read more TF content than I have, so she fills me in on the occasional reference). 

I enjoy pretty much everything about the show, except the third season and how rushed it felt (they were only given 13 episodes instead of their usual 26, and you can tell a lot of ideas had to be scrapped and they needed to make quick decisions to tie things together) and I sort of... despise how Starscream was treated, and how he never got closure for his treatment? But I’m just... in love with him so of course I’d be hung up about that fhhdffd. Otherwise, I love the show, I love the characters, I love the FIGHTING SCENES!!! You can tell they put SO MUCH LOVE into the fighting battle scenes, I can’t get enough of it!!!

The animation takes some getting used to since it’s from 2010, it’s a decade old,,, but honestly, for a (starting) low-budget animated series, it’s uhhh pretty epic! The first season’s animation gets better after ten or so episodes, and the second season’s animation is way better. Season three’s animation is top tier, I swear to God they put ALL of their budget into Starscream’s wings and eyebrows, he was SO. EXPRESSIVE. Ugh it’s so good... anyway!!

It doesn’t have the movie however (the movie Predacons Rising is the finale!! you can find that online too) you can watch the first season on Netflix if you have that, but I personally just use TubiTV to binge the whole thing in 720 HD! The only downside is there MIGHT be an ad or two in the middle of an episode, but they’re never long. Each episode is 20 minutes!
