Rook + Taruchi - Also slightly intimidated by him. And she can't understand the nicknames he gives. But she admires his skills.

Idia + Taruchi - They definitely play games together. They are besties. They will both stay up until 4 am. And Idia might have a tiny crush on Taruchi and I think that's kinda cute (Update: Scratch that, Idia belongs to Lili)

Ortho + Taruchi - Taruchi will give him many free hugs. She loves him very much.

Malleus + Taruchi - When she met him, she called him a grandpa for fun. Her nickname for him is "Grandpa Mal Mal." She's gotten so used to it that she genuinely considers him as her grandpa now.

I don’t even know how I beat both Emerson and jacks, the entire time I was just spinning a wheel and vaguely being like “oh yeah, my finesse is high”, I’m so sorry because even though I played through the entire demo I have not picked up a single bit of strategy or knowledge about tennis. Tobin and MC drive upstate, to visit a quaint little town. Sam

Sam and MC have known each other for a long time, but Sam still always finds a way to cook up some chaotic new adventure—like the time they ended up brewing purple rice wine in Sam's kitchen because they "watched a cool YouTube video". Now that Sam's in UCLA, MC has also been treated to all the best sites in the city of lights, long afternoons spent on the beach, playing beach volleyball, watching the sunset, getting tacos, then driving out to the desert to see the stars.

Well, who says Rayyan's parents are fully accepting? :P Anyway, I think the way Islam is practiced by Muslim immigrants living in non-Muslim countries sometimes takes on a different character from Muslims living in predominantly Muslim countries. I also think the way each family deals with/responds to homosexuality is different, and the head canon I have for Rayyan's family is by no means meant to be representative of all Muslims.

But I do think in many instances, people with the guts to leave their homeland and make a life for themselves in a foreign world often have a more pragmatic/adaptable worldview, and Rayyan's mother and grandpa are a little more accepting in that sense.

Rayyan's dad and grandma, on the other hand, are the kind of people who are a little more rigid, which is also a response to being a diasporic Muslim - i.e. in the face of everything being alien, they need something familiar, incontrovertible, sacred, to hold onto. Rayyan's relationship with their dad - when it comes to their sexuality/past relationship - has always been pretty fraught, and their dad has never fully supported or understood this part of Rayyan's life. It's something they don't talk about anymore (and just shove under the rug).
