Day 1: THE HUMBLE CHAMPION🌟
Jeor Mormont
… and saw Lord Mormont, naked and groggy from sleep, standing in the doorway with an oil lamp in hand. Gnawed and fingerless, the arm thrashed on the floor, wriggling toward him. Jon tried to shout, but his voice was gone. Staggering to his feet, he kicked the arm away and snatched the lamp from the Old Bear's fingers. The flame flickered and almost died. "Burn!" the raven cawed. "Burn, burn, burn!" Spinning, Jon saw the drapes he'd ripped from the window. He flung the lamp into the puddled cloth with both hands. Metal crunched, glass shattered, oil spewed, and the hangings went up in a great whoosh of flame. The heat of it on his face was sweeter than any kiss Jon had ever known. "Ghost!" he shouted. - A Game of Thrones - Jon VII "I would not be sitting here were it not for you and that beast of yours. You fought bravely … and more to the point, you thought quickly. Fire! Yes, damn it. We ought to have known. We ought to have remembered. The Long Night has come before. Oh, eight thousand years is a good while, to be sure … yet if the Night's Watch does not remember, who will?" - A Game of Thrones - Jon VIII
Dalla’s Son
"Gods," Val whispered, "gods, why are they doing this?" "Go inside the tent and stay with Dalla. It's not safe out here." It wouldn't be a great deal safer inside, but she didn't need to hear that. "I need to find the midwife," Val said. - A Storm of Swords - Jon X Bring her home, Mance. I saved your son from Melisandre, and now I am about to save four thousand of your free folk. - A Dance with Dragons - Jon XI

Talked to someone and halfway through he paused, pull up a hand and asked "are you neurodivergent?" How does one answer such question?

I'm gonna eat a lemonn
Welcome to another Tips and Tricks with Wally West.
On today's episode, why you don't patrol in pouring rain..pouring gotham rain to be specific.
Not based on true events
1. You can barley see, the rain makes vision AWFUL
2. If your suit gets wet, there's about a 50/50 chance that it rips...and chasing after Harley with the upper half of your suit gone...not fun
3. The rain kinda...stings? I don't know how to describe it.

DAY 6: SHADOWS OF HEROISM 🌑🌟
Defying King Stannis: Jon's Merciful Act Towards Mance Rayder (Unbeknownst to Jon, Actually Rattleshirt)
The horn crashed amongst the logs and leaves and kindling. Within three heartbeats the whole pit was aflame. Clutching the bars of his cage with bound hands, Mance sobbed and begged. When the fire reached him he did a little dance. His screams became one long, wordless shriek of fear and pain. Within his cage, he fluttered like a burning leaf, a moth caught in a candle flame. Jon found himself remembering a song. Ulmer of the Kingswood jammed his spear into the ground, unslung his bow, and slipped a black arrow from his quiver. Sweet Donnel Hill threw back his hood to do the same. Garth Greyfeather and Bearded Ben nocked shafts, bent their bows, loosed. One arrow took Mance Rayder in the chest, one in the gut, one in the throat. The fourth struck one of the cage's wooden bars, and quivered for an instant before catching fire. A woman's sobs echoed off the Wall as the wildling king slid bonelessly to the floor of his cage, wreathed in fire. "And now his Watch is done," Jon murmured softly. Mance Rayder had been a man of the Night's Watch once, before he changed his black cloak for one slashed with bright red silk. - A Dance with Dragons - Jon III
As a sign of Jon's respect and compassion for "Mance", he defied Stannis's orders and commands his men to shoot "Mance" with an arrow, providing him with a more merciful death. This act reflects Jon's respect for Mance, despite their differences and the circumstances that led them to opposing sides.
By defying Stannis, Jon takes on the role of a compassionate leader who prioritizes empathy and dignity over blind obedience. It demonstrates his willingness to make difficult choices based on his own moral compass and personal connections, rather than simply following the commands of those in power.
In shooting "Mance", Jon not only ends the wildling leader's suffering but also allows him to die on his own terms, free from the prolonged agony of being consumed by flames. This act of mercy serves as a poignant moment that showcases Jon's capacity for empathy and his commitment to treating others with dignity, even in the face of opposition.

a lot happens in chp 10 of adwd involving mance raydar and the wildlings but what i always focus on and what crushes me every time is jon's loneliness.
he's 16. he spent 14 years with no friends of his own, being constantly told he was below everyone he loved and now he thinks they're all dead. he finally made friends at the wall and those same friends got him voted lord commander, which leads him down this path of isolation.
he's plagued with nightmares of guilt over ygritte's death and his plot to send sam and gilly south. he dreams it was his arrow that killed ygritte, that sam drowns and gilly cries "tears of blood".
he desperately doesn't want to be alone, "He knew he had to eat, but it was company he craved, not food.", and when grenn invites him to eat dinner with them, "Jon wanted nothing more."
but jon is haunted by ned stark's voice telling him, "A lord may love the men that he commands, but he cannot be a friend to them." and so jon declines dinner with his friends, goes to bed and thinks, "This is my lot, from now until the end of my days."
he doesn't throw a tantrum or cry himself to sleep, like any isolated teenage with too much responsibility would be well within their right to do. he accepts that this is how it is and it will always be this way, because he has always been isolated and apart from those he cares about and how could he ever have dreamed that this wouldn't be his lot.

Hi flower! I hope your doing well and I just wanted to ask a question what Lotor’s reaction would be if Keith died? I remember reading a post about Keith blaming himself a while ago and was wondering what that would be if the positions were swapped.
((it took me HOURS to track down the original post on this, good god, but along the way I stumbled across a semi-adjacent post on Lotor's reaction to someone making an attempt on Keith's life (post kral zera), which may also be of interest to you))
If Keith were to die at this stage in the narrative (chapter 24), Lotor would find himself keenly affected in a way he's not truly prepared for; he knows he likes his little Blade far more than he should—he's accepted that for a good while now—but in the event of Keith's death Lotor would find himself in the position of feeling as if,,, he hadn't really the right to grieve? Because in the grand scheme of things, Keith is a blip on the raydar. By my personal plotting of events, they've only known one another for little over 2 altean phoebs (~14 altean movements), which is scarcely any time at all, not to mention that for a great deal of that Lotor wasn't even aware that Marmora-Keith and the Former-Red-Paladin were the same person.
In typical Lotor fashion, his heart would cede to his head, and as team Voltron crumbled to pieces around him Lotor would strive to take advantage of the situation so as to improve his standing and hold this flimsy excuse for an alliance together as the sole chance he has against his father, and yet—
—and yet the world has turned in on itself. Quiet in a way the prince had long since forgotten it could be. Empty and hollow and frightfully lonely, because every so often he will turn to his side to exchange a teasing smile or raised brow with a man who, in so little time, had made an easy home for himself by Lotor's side, only to find that said man simply isn't anymore.
How do you mourn someone you never really knew? Where do you even begin with picking up the pieces, when they're made up of a future that was never anything more than idle daydreams and unspoken promises?

really quick I have got to say.
I really hate the theory that so many seem to have bought in on that the Other are in any way literally related to Craster's sons. People put so much stake into that line of dialogue from Craster's wives as being literally true when I think we really have every reason not to think that's the case.
I have a ton to say about this, if anyone is interested, but for the moment, I'm going to point to the newly uncovered Storm of Swords draft that reddit user gsteff reported on yesterday.
There's a line of cut dialogue where Jon and Mance are atop the wrecked Fist of the First Men:
"Who did this?" Jon said. "No men of women born." Mance Raydar had been kneeling over a corpse that looked like Brown Bernarr, but now he stood.
I completely agree with the decision to cut this line, because we'd be theorizing to this day about why the hell Mance knows the nature of the Others, but I think it's an incredibly tangible sign that behind the scenes, in his mind, GRRM is thinking of the Others as "no men of women born."
My interest in this as also a clear Macbeth reference could be its own post, but for now—no men of women born! These are not anyone's sons, let alone Crasters!
