"Submitted for your approval or at least your analysis: one Patrick Thomas McNulty, who, at age forty-one, is the biggest bore on Earth. He holds a ten-year record for the most meaningless words spewed out during a coffee break. And it's very likely that, as of this moment, he would have gone through life in precisely this manner, a dull, argumentative bigmouth who sets back the art of conversation a thousand years. I say he very likely would have except for something that will soon happen to him, something that will considerably alter his existence - and ours. Now you think about that now, because this is The Twilight Zone.

Rockwell - Somebody's Watching Me 1983
"Somebody's Watching Me" is a song recorded and written by American singer Rockwell, released by the Motown label in December 1983, as the lead single from his debut studio album of the same name. It features guest vocals by Michael Jackson in the chorus and Jermaine Jackson as additional backing vocals. The song became a major commercial success internationally, topping the charts in Belgium, France, and Spain, and reaching the top 5 in Canada, West Germany, the Netherlands, New Zealand, South Africa, Sweden, Switzerland, and the US. In the UK, it reached number 6 and is Rockwell's only top 40 hit on the UK Singles Chart. Rolling Stone magazine called the song "an international and enduring smash hit that, more than 30 years later, remains the perennial paranoia-rock anthem and Halloween mix go-to song."
Rockwell is a son of Motown CEO Berry Gordy. At the time of the recording, Rockwell was estranged from his father and living with Gordy's ex-wife Ray Singleton. Singleton served as executive producer on the project and would occasionally play demo tracks to Berry Gordy, who was less than enthusiastic about Rockwell's music until he heard the single with Michael Jackson's familiar voice featuring prominently on background vocals.
"Somebody's Watching Me" received a total of 88,3% yes votes!

The talk of supported modes of play is why I really like ICON. The designer went "yes I want to support multiple, reasonably different modes of play, therefore I will create two different modes of play" rather than trying to build one system that supports two kinds of game. I will always support total niche partitioning in game design.
*burst through the door after having successfully rolled my 1 out of 6 chance of opening doors on a d6* you know what games ALSO supported having unique singleton mechanics for distinctive activities built with a mind towards them producing desirable outcomes for their specific applications!? *Rolls a save versus death ray with a d20 to dodge the lasers the haters are shooting at me* that's right, *rolls a 1d100 to hide in shadows* pre-WotC editions of D&D!!!

Sir, a second cat F/O has hit the mariodreemurr blog /ref
Yep, I know this was quick, but it’s time for another new romantic F/O drop.
Tumblr media
Everyone, meet Presley Singleton. Yes, it’s another Siamese cat. And it just so happens that she shares her first name with Curt’s last name. Maybe they can be cousins, IDK.
Also, this piece was somewhat ambitious. This piece is my first-ever real attempt at drawing a plus-size person. And honestly, I think I did really well for someone who’s never tried to. Granted, I may be a little off, but I think I did good nonetheless!
Anyway, back to Presley. Presley can only be described as the sweetest ray of sunshine. She is a very kind, caring and wholesome woman. She is incredibly enthusiastic and has nothing but love for everyone and everything around her. But she is especially romantic, and will treat her partner with nothing but the absolute best. Anyone dating her has to be prepared for a TON of hugs, kisses, and cuddles.
And that’s about it for now. She’s just the sweetest angel, expect more of her in the future.
Please read my full DNI in pinned before interacting, thank you.

MOVIE REVIEW | The Magic of Ordinary Days (2005)
Tumblr media
This film is a period piece, set in Colorado during 1944, and it follows the story of Livy Dunne (Keri Russell), a young overprotected and privileged woman who was raised independent and always deeply involved in her studies. But when she has to take some time off to take care of her ill mother, Livy finds herself lonely which leads to a brief indiscretion with a soldier and an unplanned pregnancy. Her father, a minister, anxious to avoid a scandal and save his daughter's reputation, arranges a quick marriage to a farmer, Ray Singleton (Skeet Ulrich).
Ray is shy and quiet, living a modest life in a house kilometers away from the town. He's also very kind and polite, and wears his heart on his sleeve. Ray is also aware of Livy's pregnancy but is open minded and accepts it as a blessing.
The films mostly focuses on their slow burn courtship and how two very different people, who find themselves alone and feeling lonely, can also become to love each other. For Ray this relationship it's about expanding his world, meanwhile Livy learns to appreciate the life she has overlooked until now.
There's a subplot surrounding two japanese women who Livy befriends. This part baffles me. While it was handled well, at the same time, it was superficial enough to not dwell that this women live in an internment camp or what kind of life they are experiencing.
The film is an adaptation from Anne Howard Creel's novel of the same name and I have to admit, it made me curious enough about the original source material because of the period and place the author decided to base her story. Perhaps this particular subplot is better developed in the book and so the reasons as to why it's part of the story well explained. I might read it during my New Year break.
Apart from that, I have to say this was a very beautiful love story about tenderness and how much it can change a person for better.

Black Dick and the Spithead Mutiny
Admiral of the Fleet Richard Howe, 1st Earl Howe (1726-1799) was an extraordinary personality and spent more than 60 years in the service of the Royal Navy. On 16 April 1797 the mutiny began at Spithead, the main naval anchorage near Portsmouth.

Admiral Richard Howe, 1726-99, 1st Earl Howe, by Henry Singleton  (1766–1839) (x)
16 ships of the Channel Fleet raised the red flag of insurrection. The demand of the men: a rais in pay, a more equitable distribution of prize money and better victuals. When negotiations broke down between the two sides, King George III personally requested Howe.
And why him? well, he was one of the few officers who treated men well and was always fair, so he was a stalwart of the men's hearts and was even affectionately known as Black Dick. There have been a number of explanations offered for this, his swarthy complexion also known as " Sea Tan" being one and the fact that he never smiled unless a battle was about to begin may be the other one. But back to the Mutiny. Although over 70 and suffering from gout and other ailments, he agreed - but only if his dear wife Lady Howe accompanied him.

Print of a caricature published 9 June, 1797, depicting the Delegates of the mutiny meeting with Admiral Buckner. Richard Parker is the figure on the far-right. (x)
They set out on 10 May on a wild and stormy night and arrived at Portsmouth the following morning. Howe left his wife at the governor's house and immediately set out by barge for Spithead. He came alongsinde HMS Royal George, the headquarters of the insurrection, and despite his infirmities he rejected all offers to help him come aboard and clambered up unaided. He called the ship's company to the quarterdeck and started to talk to them man to man, neither reproaching their conduct nor standing on his dignity. Several hours later he went to HMS Queen Charlotte. For three days he went from ship to ship - talking, listening, heaving his rheumaticky knees and gouty feet up and down ladders until he was so tired he had to be lifted in and out of his boat. But by the end he has achieved reconciliation on both sides, with a Royal pardon for all the mutineers, a reassignment of some of the most unpopular officers and a pay rise and better victualling for the sailor.
On 15 May there was a grand celebration in Portsmouth, and the mutineers' delegates marched in procession up to the governor's house accompanied by bands playing " God Save the King" and " Rule, Britannia". The delegates were invited inside for refreshments, then appeared on the balcony with the Howes to huzzahs from the multitude, after which they set out together for the anchorage. On board Royal George Howe was given three cheers and the red flag of mutiny was pulled down; the other ships quickly followed. Later that day Lord and Lady Howe hosted a special meal for the delegates before they returned to their ships and reported for duty.

Set during World War II, Olivia "Livy" Dunne is a young Denver minister's daughter who has become pregnant by a United States Navy flight instructor on furlough. Embarrassed by his daughter's out of wedlock pregnancy, her father quietly arranges for her to marry.
Livy is sent to a rural southeastern Colorado town to marry Ray Singleton, who operates his family farm. Hearing of Livy's dilemma from his pastor, Ray is moved and agrees to marry without even having met her. Unbeknownst to Livy, he has lost both of his parents, and also his younger brother, during the attack on Pearl Harbor. Though young, handsome and a family man at heart, Ray has little opportunity to find a wife in this remote region. His sister Martha, her husband and their three children are the only family he has left.
Ray and Livy are very different. Livy has a good education and until recently was studying archeology in graduate school. She knows nothing of cooking or farming and is not particularly religious. Livy has felt bereft and lonely since her mom's death. Ray is a man of few words. A hard worker, he is kind, honest and patient. Family life and faith in God have been the central features of Ray's life. His daily activity is focused on working his family's farm.[3] Livy and Ray strive hard to be polite and courteous to each other, but are nevertheless awkward in each other's company.
Though agreeing to marry for her father, Livy never intended to remain. She secretly writes to United States Navy Flight Instructor Lieutenant Edward Brown, her baby's father. A visit by her sister brings sharp contrast between the life Livy came from and the life she is living now, but it is also apparent how much Livy has changed her view of her surroundings. Her sister has no news of Lt. Brown, who has yet to answer Livy's letters.
