Jour 29. Staberg - Rattvik - Fryksas

Ce matin nous rechargeons nos bouteilles de GPL dans un endroit encore improbable. C’est une piste qui permet d’arriver jusqu’au dépôt. Mais c’est impressionnant, ils ont toutes les bouteilles de gaz possibles, même pour la plongée sous-marine. Nous roulons ensuite une heure pour arriver au-dessus de Rattvik. Nous partons pour une randonnée de 7 km avec 52 m de dénivelé.

Il y a encore beaucoup de neige et de glace sur le chemin, pas suffisamment pour les skis ou les raquettes, mais assez pour rendre la progression difficile.

Nous faisons une boucle dans les bois, puis nous passons près d’un lac gelé et dans un magnifique petit village, habité que l’été sauf pour les trolls.

Pour l’instant les pistes pour y accéder sont sous la neige.

Un deuxième lac et nous rentrons tranquillement.

Après le repas nous redescendons sur Rattvik qui est au bord du lac Siljan. C’est une ville avec une petite station de ski et surtout très prisée l’été pour son lac.

Il y a un pont en bois de 628 m de long, le plus long du monde ???. Il fut construit entre 1896 et 1897 pour permettre d’accéder au débarcadère des bateaux à vapeur qui accostaient sur l’îlot de Lonstriorda. A cette époque il avait coûtait 25 000 SEK. Il fut en partie détruit en 1930, puis endommagé par la glace de printemps. En 1989 une association se crée pour la reconstruction du pont. Pour financer cette reconstruction, ils vendent les 2618 planches du pont. Le nom du donateur est gravé sur sa planche.

A l’entrée du pont se trouve la liste des 2618 personnes avec le numéro de la section où se trouve leur planche. Ceci, plus la vente de cartes et de timbres, a permis de financer les 3 millions de SEK de la reconstruction.

C’est très joli le pont avance sur le lac gelé.

Il fait très bon, et beaucoup de gens se baladent et profitent des bancs pour lézarder au soleil.

Encore une heure de route toujours au nord et nous voilà à Fryksas à 470 m d'altitude.

After traveling around Upsala to see the local sights, we ended up spending the night back in our hotel. When we checked in, we were told we had to leave the underground garage by 0800 in the morning. I thought that was okay so we checked in. I was supposed to move the car to a public lot before 8 so the garage could be cleaned. I went down in the morning and talk to the manager Milan who we had met the other day. I told her I thought we should get a discount because I had to park the car in the public and pay extra for that. She said she would give us credit. I tried to park the car in the lot near the hotel, but the kiosks wouldn't accept my credit card. I drove around looking for another parking lot and found one near the original lot. That one accepted my credit card, but it took 20 minutes to get that done. When I got back to the hotel, I told Milan I had trouble paying for my parking and she said she heard that already. She said I'm going to wave your parking fee the underground parking last night. We went from 220 Krone plus parking in the morning for 40 Coronas for two hours while we finished breakfast and packed up to nothing for underground. We made a hundred eighty Krones. We just went Northwest toward a town called Mora. On the way there we saw a 50's themed restaurant and decided to come back there later spend the night. After re-reading our tour books, we discovered we were near the town that two brothers started carving horses to pass the time in the long winter that were accepted as the national symbol of Sweden several years later. We met a nice young lady at the coffee shop who told us about the upcoming concert starring Kris Kristofferson on Saturday. It's in an old Limestone Quarry but we can't be there. We have to be in southern Sweden or Denmark late Saturday and to our friend's house on Sunday for dinner. We came back to Rattvik to spend the night and eat at the fifties themed Diner. It's much like Penningtons was in Tulsa. There are lots of old sayings from the 40s and 50s and license tags from various states. It had a chopped up 56 Bel Air in the foyer as a booth. We shared a hamburger and fries. It was plenty enough for two people, although the hamburger meat tasted smoked. It was a good hearty meal and we enjoyed meeting the hotel owner Frederick and the waitress who helped us with the menu Niki. It has been another day of unexpected pleasures and surprises. Off we go tomorrow morning and eventually to Kalmar and the glass country on the east coast.
