Weequay religion:
Here are some things I just learned today, and that I thought I would share! Some others are things I made up myself, which are labeled as such.
---
Sant was the Weequay religion. It was complex, with many deities. Among them were the moon-god Quay and the thunder god Am-Shak. Quay was their chief god: indeed, "Weequay" translated to "Follower of Quay". Each of their cities was centered around a shrine of black, polished stone, known as a thal, where the Weequay made offerings of food and valuables. Their religious code prohibited building thal off Sriluur, so off-world devotees were obligated to substitute animal sacrifices (usually large animals like banthas). A holiday devoted to Quay was the Month of Plenty.
Main deities: CANON/LEGENDS
Sri'quay was one of the deities of the Weequay religion. She was described as "the Mother," and created a number of children, including Luur, the great warrior.[1]
Sri'quay'va was one of the deities of the Weequay religion. He was described as "the Father," and upset the balance in the heavens by creating a number of worshippers. When Sri'quay, "the Mother," created her own children, Sri'quay'va because jealous, and created his own child, Quay'va, who had power over fire.[1]
Luur was one of the deities of the Weequay religion. He was believed to have been created by the goddess Sri'quay after Sri'quay'va upset the balance of heaven by creating a number of worshippers. Eventually, Luur was challenged by Quay'va, a creation of Sri'quay'va, and killed.[1]
Ruul was the life goddess and the twin sister of the warrior Luur. She helped to watch the prison of Quay'va.[1]
Uuru is the water goddess. The bandigo are said to be her servants who live and gather at a freshwater lake in Temptation Canyon.
Am-Shak was the thunder god of the Weequay religion, Sant. He was the brother of Quay and helped to watch over the prison of Quay'va.[1]
Quay'va was, according to Weequay mythology, a female warrior priestess who was created by the god Sri'quay'va and given power over fire. She killed the warrior Luur before being imprisoned by Quay.[1]
Raquor was a deity worshipped by Weequay and is named the “night god.” Raquor'daan took their name after it, as this God was supposed to take the form of a Dark Wolf when he traversed the wastes of the planet Sriluur.[2] Raquor was the brother of Quay and helped to watch over the prison of Quay'va.[1]
Quay was the moon god in the Weequay religion. He also served as the chief Weequay god, and shared his name with the moon of Sriluur, the Weequay homeworld, and was known for killing the warrior priestess Quay'va.[1] The name for the Weequay species means "follower of Quay.” Weequay took to worshiping a child's toy which generated random answers to questions posed to it, simply on the grounds that it was small, round and white and bore a passing resemblance to the moon. They believed that Quay inhabited each sphere and was replying to their questions.
Main Deities (NOT CANON / MADE UP BY ME FOR PURPOSES OF FIC)
Rauk is the god of Death, misfortune, and bad luck. Hondo is born under his sign, but instead of it being an ill-omen, he is granted immunity from these dangers and is protected by the god.
Liiaon is the goddess of agriculture, and sacrifices are made in her honor to be blessed with a bountiful harvest. Weequay women also pray to her when they are trying to become pregnant/have their eggs fertilized, as to have many children is common among their kind as they are a clan based society and work together in tight-knit groups.
Lytenae is the goddess of wind, air, and wisdom. She is the favorite sister of the moon god Quay, as his priests often pray to her in turn, hoping to gain her favor and be blessed with the fundamental knowledge to answer all of life’s hard questions, such as its meaning and purpose.
Known Holidays:
The Month of Plenty was a Weequay holy season that honored the moon god Quay. Temples on the planet Sriluur which were dedicated to Quay had an open skylight in their roof, which allowed Weequay priests to track the moon's progress during the month.
Interesting tidbit to work into my “canon”:
The Thal where Weequay lay their offerings is black obsidian. Luur’s fatal wound poured BLACKENED BONEGLASS. To me, this proves that I am correct in saying Weequay blood is black, like oil.

Here are some headcanons I have about the Bad Batch’s pets.
Hunter: He’s a dog person, unsurprisingly. He’s probably going to end up owning a pack of them. I think that, out of a desire to have pets that can hold their own, he’d end up with ones that are super frigging dangerous (despite his repeated admonitions of Omega bringing home rather violent animals). Some options would be the vornskr (dogs that hunt Force-sensitives; Hunter would end up training it not to attack Omega but everyone else should step carefully), the charhound (fire doggo), the Raquor'daan (dog with a skull face and scorpion tail), the Coromon headhunter (literally eats heads), the Howlerunner (another dog with a skull for a face), the akk dog (Force-sensitive dogs from Mace Windu’s homeworld; probably terrified the vornskr into leaving it alone), and the early death dog (he has no ground to criticize Omega for bringing home dangerous pets). Who knows, he might find a strill somewhere and add it to the pack.
Crosshair: He already has Batcher, but he could do with some more therapy animals. For instance, the scarred tooka cat that despises everyone who isn’t him with a fiery passion. Or the ice vulture that decided that he was its new parent and now sits on his shoulder glaring at everyone. Or the nexu kitten that, like the vulture, is firmly convinced that he’s its mom. Crosshair has resigned himself to his fate.
Wrecker: You’d think he’d have something big and tough and intimidating. Instead, Wrecker has a deep love for hamsters, gerbils, guinea pigs, rats, and mice. One of them is named Mr. Nibbles. It seems like the kind of pet ownership that would end in tragedy, given Wrecker’s enhanced strength and over enthusiastic behavior, but he’s very gentle with his. If you upset him, you will get glared at by several dozen angry rodents. Of course, that would be the least of your problems.
Tech: He likes bugs and fish. Their workings and behaviors are fascinating, especially the bugs, and he finds the movements of the fish soothing. He claims that he isn’t attached or anything, but the fact that he’s named 90% of them causes a lot of side eying.
Echo: He didn’t need a pet. He didn’t want a pet. So why, through some sequence of events he doesn’t quite follow, does he now own a rancor?
Omega: Last week she brought back an abomination of Sith alchemy with too many tentacles and eyes. It spits acid, guards mind-shattering secrets, and likes to eat sentient flesh. It also acts like a puppy around her and lets her braid its hair(????). (Whatever she’s decorating, it’s not hair.)

SO HEY, the Angels’ group has gotten super big since it first started, to the point where we’re well past 100 characters, and I fUCKING LOVE THAT. Still, it’s been a while since I’ve made any new guys for myself, so I thought I’d knock out some new designs I’ve been wanting to make! From left to right, we’ve got Illyinis “Raquor’daan” I’dhako, Issharra & Auzituck, Hao Hok, DEV-49TK & Talo’wao’Tuessan, Roghas Bromnoct, Lorz & Vaaric Sornell, and Sev’ida’loro! So many new friends!!! :D
These guys were all super fun to design, and I’m super excited to develop them further! What do you guys think, though? Are they cool? Do any stand out that you’d wanna hear more about? Am I an absolute madman for making ten new characters at once? Let me have any feedback you’ve got! :D
Just like the last two times I made new Angels, little blurbs about each one’s backstory will be below the cut:
Illyinis I’dhako (better known by his criminal alias Raquor’daan) is the leader of a small criminal empire, operating out of the planet Kelada and tackling trades such as money laundering, imports & exports, gunrunning, and more. For most of his life he was happy with fighting for himself, but following the Battle of Montellian Serat and its subsequent massacre, he thought it best to divert his wealth and manpower to the Angels’ greater cause. He’s suave, charismatic, and just a bit too into himself, but as much as he loves being the King of Kelada, Devaron will always be closer to his heart than anything.
Issharra & Auzituck are two adopted sisters from Kashyyyk, both working with the Angels’ Abbadon squadron. Issharra, a kybuck-riding warrior, and Auzituck, a weapons expert and all-around sweetheart, admittedly don’t have too much of a stake in Devaron’s freedom, but the Angels promised to help Issharra (who was born a Devaronian) learn more about her origins, so the sisters are happy helping their new friends out along the way.
Side Note: Auzituck is based on adopt I got from @deer-head-xiris‘s Wookiee adopt set. Thank you again for that, Nat! :D
Hao Hok is one of the Angels’ best swoop pilots, which is due as much to her custom-built superbike Laquasa as to her years of experience as a pilot. Originally one of the pre-Serat Angels, she left the cell for a period of time to join Enfys Nest’s Cloud-Riders, only to re-join a short time after the massacre. Fierce, strong-willed, and a revolutionary in every sense of the word, Hao is committed to seeing her planet become not just free, but the best it can possibly be—and if that means cutting up a few Imperials along the way, so be it.
Talo’wao’Tuessan (better known by her nickname TT) is a soldier in the Devaronian Army, though she’s best known for being a gifted Droid technician. She and her current passion project (a heavily-modified battle droid known as DEV-49TK (or TK for short)) both followed General Markhor’sai’Malloc when he defected to the Angels, and they now fight alongside the cell, lending both their strength and their technical prowess to the revolution.
Side Note: TT is based off an adopt I got from @gloamingchild, whom I absolutely Adore and you should all go check them out, their art and their OCs are some of my favorites.
Roghas Bromnoct is an assassin, operating out of the Angels’ secluded auxiliary base deep in Montellian Serat. An expert assassin and free-runner, Roghas puts his skills to use collecting information, putting down targets, and stirring up the citizens of Serat, all before hopping up onto a fire escape and running off into the dark of the city.
Lorz & Vaaric Sornell are two half-brothers and members of the Mandalorian Clan Sornell. Lorz (a gladiator) and Vaaric (a pilot/bounty hunter) both followed their second cousin Kobelka when she joined the Angels, and they now lend both their strength and their cunning to the fight for Devaron, so that maybe one day, their family won’t have to live on an island in a sea of lava. Because that mostly sucks.
Sev’ida’loro (Vidal for short) is the Angels’ bookkeeper, in charge of not just managing their finances, but a large portion of their intel as well. A former agent of the Chiss Ascendancy, she joined the Angels after her son, Oni, insisted she follow him to the side of the rebels, so that she could at least have a roof over her head and a bed to sleep in. Now, she’s grown to view Devaron as her home, and though she’s not a fighter by nature, she’ll do whatever she can to help it.
Side Note: Vidal is also based on an adopt I got from @deer-head-xiris, out of their Chiss adopt set. Again, go check them out if you haven’t before, their art’s awesome :D

Star Wars Alien Species - Weequay
Sriluur was a planet in the Tharin sector of the Outer Rim. Homeworld to the sentient Weequay species, Sriluur held a key position along the Sisar Run, one of the many important hyperlanes connecting Hutt Space with the rest of the Outer Rim.
The planet was orbited by five moons, most notably Ruul, the only one of the five able to support life. The dominant topographical features of Sriluur were white deserts, dry scrub-lands and rocky fields, and sandstorms were frequent. The planet had enormous copper reserves, but these were never exploited through large-scale mining, with miners instead preferring to focus on other metals, minerals and gems—exports vital to Sriluur's economy. Its oceans were high in acid content, but still home to some lifeforms. Nearly all of the planet's northern hemisphere was covered by the Great Cueva Expanse, an enormous desert consisting mainly of crater holes. The southern hemisphere, littered with dormant volcanoes and black transparisteel canyons, was home to most of the planet's inhabitants. Despite the harsh environment, Sriluur was almost entirely self-sustaining, with an extensive agricultural sector centered around the Cupric Islands. Clean water was a very valuable commodity on the planet, with most of the supply originating on nearby Sedri. The largest settlements on the arid world were the Meirm City, the main trading port Dnalvec, and the administrative center of Al-Campur. At the center of each Weequay city was a thal, a black stone shrine to their gods. Historically, the planet was part of Hutt Space, which meant Hutt crime lords and representatives of the Black Sun criminal organization were a common sight on Sriluur. Politically, Sriluur was under Hutt hegemony for much of its history. While it maintained strong trade relations with the rest of Hutt Space, the Hutts never truly attempted to subjugate or conquer the planet, nor did they make efforts to enslave the Weequay. The enormous criminal organization Black Sun was also heavily represented on Sriluur, but it was not until the Galactic Empire seized control of the planet that it officially became part of a major political power. Many non-sentient predators were native to Sriluur. The bandigos of Temptation Canyon were known for their distinctive howls, which many Weequay falsely attributed to "water nymphs"—the subject of at least one native myth. Bandigos hunted in packs of up to twenty individuals, and would often throw rocks at their prey. The dark wolves, referred to as raquor'daan in Sriluurian, were stealthy canines who employed poison claws and a stinger tail to kill their prey. They were considered natural enemies of the bandigos, and as such were well respected by the Weequay, who sometimes tamed the beasts to aid them in hunting.
The planet was colonized by a large group of Houk around 282 BBY, an event that was met with resentment from the Weequay. The ensuing Houk–Weequay conflicts lasted until the Galactic Empire, fearing growing smuggling and Rebel tendencies, occupied the planet shortly before the Battle of Yavin. Even though the Empire established a sizable military presence, crime continued to rise in the sector. Sriluur was invaded by the Yuuzhan Vong Empire in 26 ABY, and its inhabitants were enslaved. By 137 ABY, the world had been claimed by Darth Krayt's Galactic Empire.
Weequays had the ability to communicate with members of their own clan through smell by exuding complex pheromones. This pheromonal language could not be understood by any other species, or even by Weequays of another clan. Only Jedi senses could even tell that two Weequay were communicating. Gotal were also able to sense their communications. Since each Weequay's pheromones were unique, Weequay had no need for a name within their clan. As a result, speech was only a secondary form of communication for Weequay, and they seldom spoke a whole sentence, resulting in Humans mistakenly believing the species to be unintelligent.
Only Weequay who had to live among other clans, or among non-Weequay, took a personal name. Even then, some were simply referred to as "Weequay". In Weequay culture, individual identity was much less important than the clan. As long as the clan survived, a single Weequay was expendable. This resulted in a sometimes brutal culture.
Male Weequay often tied their hair into long braids. Traditionally, they would grow one "seclusion braid" for each Sriluurian year spent away from their homeworld as a tribute to their home. When they returned, they shaved their braids. Weequays serving the Hutt clans were often very close to their homeworld, and would only have one or two braids. Female Weequay were usually bald, and did not follow this tradition.
Weequay religion was complex, with many deities. Among them were the moon-god Quay and the thunder god Am-Shak. Quay was their chief god; indeed, "Weequay" translated to "Follower of Quay". Zealous Weequays performed ritual sacrifices in Quay's honor, at times resorting to murder, earning their culture a violent reputation. Each of their cities was centered around a shrine of black, polished stone, known as a thal, where the Weequay made offerings of food and valuables. Their religious code prohibited building thal off Sriluur, so off-world devotees were obligated to substitute animal sacrifices (usually large animals like banthas).
The Weequays shared their homeworld with Houk colonists, though not enthusiastically. The two societies went to war on Sriluur in 10 BBY. The conflict ended after a decade, leaving many unemployed Weequay soldiers to find work as mercenaries and bounty hunters. This war also gave certain Weequay companies a good reputation throughout the galaxy as manufacturers of force pikes and other melee weapons.
Weequay are humanoids with thick, leathery skin that ranges in color from tan to dark brown. Their faces are lipless, with flat noses and a well-defined frill along each of their jowls. Males grow their black hair into long braids, while females are bald. A typical Weequay male stands at 1.7 meters or 5.6 feet tall and weighs 75 kilograms or 165 pounds, while a typical Weequay female stands at 1.6 meters or 5.2 feet tall and weighs 65 kilograms or 143 pounds. Star Wars creator George Lucas named the Weequay as a literary nod to Queequeg, a fictional character from the novel Moby-Dick.
Weequay age at the following stages: 1 - 12 Child 13 - 17 Young Adult 16 - 49 Adult 50 - 74 Middle Age 75 - 89 Old Examples of Names: Weequay do not take names within their own society, though members of other Species often give individual Weequay nicknames. Examples of such monikers include: Adazian Liebke, Ak-buz, Ak-rev, Diergu-Rea Duhnes'rd, Fyg, Grimorg, Labansat, Nort Toom, Plaan, Que-Mars Redath-Gom, Solum'ke, Sora Bulq, and Tas Kee. Languages: A Weequay relies on pheromones to communicate with other members of his or her tribe. Communication between tribes involves the spoken language of Sriluurian, which consists of whispers, hisses, and throaty mumbles. Written Sriluurian involves a multitude of complex hieroglyphics and pictographs.

swtor meta, let’s go
Arthas was a Jedi Knight and Jaina a Jedi Consular probably, they adopt Zoen out to Space Sparks because Jedi don’t like it when you keep your kid around
When she’s like 3 - 4, Arthas is seduced to the Dark Side by Darth Ner’zhul, he becomes Sith, he does all sorts of swtor analogues for his warcraft crimes, etc etc etc
the REAL divergence is that when Zoen is maybe 5 - 6, he stumbles upon the planet where she and Sparks are living. since Sith don’t have the same issue with.... issue... as Jedi, and because that inherent possessiveness of his is now Amplified by Dark Side, he plucks her up and deposits her in his shiny evil lair
tl;dr: Sith Arthas raises Zoen from very young childhood
this is mostly because this seems like the best sort of way to develop an analogue to the complexities of their relationship in Warcraft, as well as turning Zoen into a Sith who is as hardcore dedicated to her identity as as Sith as dk Zoen is to her identity as a death knight
She inherited from her father the ability to bind Force-ghosts to herself, although unlike Arthas she prefers to make pacts with her ghosts instead of forcing the issue
(this ofc leads to her being weaker than him, which may eventually be a Problem)
when she’s about 16-17, he kicks her off onto Korriban because she disappointed him in a sardonic observance of the ‘all Force-sensitives must be sent to Korriban’ law. “she’s there now, isn’t she?”
she’s only there a few months at most
when another Sith eventually chooses her as their apprentice, the situation lasts at most, a year
when she eventually earns her place as a Darth, Arthas is the one who chooses the name Inferi for her
Tiris is here and he’s probably a Raquor'daan
#﹙ ᴇɴᴛʀᴏᴘʏ ᴏғ ᴛʜᴇ sᴛᴀʀs. ﹚ swtor au.#﹙ ᴜᴘᴏɴ ᴛʜɪꜱ ʙʀᴏᴋᴇɴ ᴘᴀꜱᴛ ᴏғ ᴍɪɴᴇ. ﹚ meta.#﹙ ᴛʜᴇ ʙʟᴏᴏᴅ ᴛʜᴀᴛ ɪ·ᴍ ᴏᴡᴇᴅ ɪꜱ ᴀʟʟ ʏᴏᴜʀꜱ. ﹚ arthas menethil.

Sriluurian, the language of the Weequay "was formed by guttural mumbles and subdued whispers." It also used hieroglyphs as a written form. It is a language used to communicate with people from other tribes, as Weequay from the same clan/tribe could communicate via their pheromones and did not need to use spoken language.
"As a result, speech was only a secondary form of communication for Weequay, and they seldom spoke a whole sentence, resulting in Humans mistakenly believing the species to be unintelligent."
There are only two known Sriluurian words in canon/legends that I can find.
Uurutche'zediev - The name of Temptation Canyon on Sriluur ( a place on their home planet ).
Raquor'daan - Dark wolf ( an animal that lived on Sriluur ).
It sort of reminds me of Huttese.
Now, imagine if you will...
Hondo never shuts up. He's always talking, telling stories, flattering himself, or giving commands. He knows at least four languages, if not more: Sriluurian, Basic, Shyriiwook, and probably Huttese.
Considering his species, this is not natural. Pair this with the fact that Hondo "has a large disconnect with Sriluur culture and religion," and what we get is a black sheep of the family.
This is verrrrrry interesting, because another part of Weequay culture dictates that "as long as the clan survives, a single Weequay is expendable." We know from canon that Hondo was sold to priests of the god Quay by his parents, which means they were most likely hard up for money and needed to support the clan in some way; stealing and swindling people wasn't cutting it.
That, and/or Hondo was considered to be one who is expendable in this scenario, and maybe there was a reason for that.
To me, ( and @allsystemsblue xD ), Hondo is a well-spoken, well-educated man with street smarts on top of book smarts. He may not be Count Dooku, but he is not a dummy by any means. The fact that he can speak that many languages should be proof enough, but he was also an advisor to a Hutt who trusted him with his business dealings, not to mention his successful pirate's horde, and the fact he kidnapped a Sith lord with ease.
Now, imagine him being surrounded by other Weequay whom he cannot identify with. Imagine he often simply speaks his mind instead of talking with his pheromones. Imagine how shunned or ridiculed he must be by the others, them using their guttural, grunting language or not talking at all verbally, and for Hondo to have so much to say, with so many ways in which to say it.
Not only did his mother teach him things, but we can assume he also read a lot of books, and was literate, unlike his brethren. Just look at this letter he wrote himself, for Pete's sake!
I've decided to headcanon that Hondo grew up in Dnalvec. It was "the main port city of Sriluur, which housed three of the four main spaceports on the planet. It was a chaotic frontier environment of drifting star pilots, information merchants, and mercenaries."
By doing this, I imagine Hondo's youth was filled with all sorts of colorful characters, world travelers, and the well-to-do. Teeth says he was a charming young man who people fell in love with left and right. I tend to agree with this.
Maybe this is why he can't shut up now for the life of him; he always has so much to say when no one wanted to listen to him before. Maybe his mother warned him time and time again. Maybe this was one of the reasons she kicked him out of the house on numerous occasions to spend time on the streets before she finally let him back home again.
And even though he loved his mother, deep down he only wanted her to love him back. He holds her in esteem, refusing to think poorly of her, convincing himself she did her best, that she would never truly mean to hurt her child...
But that is where the disconnect comes in. If Weequay's truly are as they are described in canon/legends as "mean-spirited, suspicious, xenophobic, devious, and deceitful," and Hondo is none of those things, or only learns to be so from a necessity to survive, then that means he must have had a very disappointing and frustrating childhood, not to mention the heartbreak he must have felt when he was sold.
Just a thought.
If he ever told me a story, I would be sure to listen.

Character creation takes time. Why not take this time today instead of Tuesday?
I was logged out only once during character creation. Maybe that’s because I decided on a name before I logged in again. The name had impact on her hair color, and decided her eye color, which I had been not sure about before.
Meet Raquor’daan, my soon to be new Mercenary.
I am not sure yet if and how she is going to join my fanfic cast.
