RAMMELLZEE (American, 1960–2010)

Rammellzee was an American artist known for his graffiti and mixed-media sculptures. His self-titled Gothic Futurism style was distinguished by its bright colors and barbed letters, as well as its symbolic campaign against standardization. “The idea is to read this stuff, for humans to have something to read, not just blow them away,” he explained of his work.

Basquiat et Warhol ? J’ai déjà vu cette exposition au Guggenheim de Bilbao, pourtant celle de la fondation LV est présentée comme une première fois.

Après vérification, c’est une exposition très fournie sur l’œuvre de Basquiat que nous y avions vue en 2015, mais avec une salle entière consacrée à sa collaboration avec Andy Warhol.

Quoi qu’il en soit, j’avais alors choisi la bonne photo pour citer l’exposition.

A propos de cette exposition, Justine était avant tout soucieuse de savoir si Warhol et Basquiat avaient couché ensemble. Je l’ai déçue en l’informant que tout dans la courte biographie de Basquiat indiquait qu’il était hétéro pur jus, quant celle de Warhol, elle laisse penser qu’il n’était pas fou de la chose, a fortiori à l’âge où il rencontre Basquiat.
