Last month, it was forecast that India will witness above-normal rainfall in the June-September rainy season The much-awaited southwest monsoon could make its onset over Kerala on 31st May, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD). The four-month season is crucial for the agrarian economy of India, which heavily depends on the monsoon rains to provide nearly 75% of the annual rains over the country. The seasonal rains typically set in over the southern tip of India on June 1 with a deviation of around seven days. Last year, the monsoon had set in on 8 June, later than the 4th June prediction by the IMD. This time, the monsoon onset is expected to be near-normal. It’s important to note that the current onset date of June 1 announced by IMD carries a model error of +/-4 days. The latest forecast suggests it could advance into the South Andaman Sea, some parts of the Southeast Bay of Bengal, and the Nicobar Islands around 19th May. This comes as good news after an extremely hot April and May, with record-breaking temperatures being recorded in several states. The monsoon’s advancement over the country in June is set to bring relief from searing heat waves that have taken a toll over large parts of the country. After affecting the eastern and southern states, the unbearable heat has now advanced to Northwest India as well. This year, the weather department has predicted above-normal rains for the country during June to September due to favorable weather conditions. According to the forecast, the monsoon is likely to be 106% of the Long Period Average (LPA) of 87 cm, with a model error of +/-5%. IMD will also issue its second long-range forecast for the monsoon in the last week of May, predicting geographical distribution which varies widely across India. IMD is confident of good monsoon rains this year due to favorable conditions. El-Nino, a scientific phenomenon associated with the warming of the equatorial Pacific Ocean which tends to have an adverse impact on the monsoon rains, is also expected to reduce and transition into neutral conditions, which augurs well for the monsoon. It is likely to further turn into La Nina during the second half of the monsoon around August-September. Meanwhile, above-normal temperatures continue to scorch several states, with Northwest India bracing for another spell of heatwaves around 16th May, with temperatures set to rise by 3-4 degrees Celsius over the next few days. This includes Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, and Rajasthan. Prime Minister to Embark on Nationwide Outreach Campaign

Mumbai, India – Prime Minister Narendra Modi will embark on a two-month nationwide outreach campaign, the Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra, beginning on November 15, 2023. The yatra will focus on showcasing the achievements of the Central Government and creating awareness about various welfare schemes.

The yatra will commence on Birsa Munda Jayanti, celebrated as Janjatiya Gaurav Diwas, in Jharkhand's Khunti district. Prime Minister Modi will flag off IEC (Information, Education, and Communication) vans during the event. Over 2,500 such vans will cover 2.5 lakh gram panchayats and 3,700 urban local bodies across the country.

The primary objective of the yatra is to engage with people directly, particularly in tribal areas, and provide them with information about various government initiatives, including sanitation, financial services, electricity connections, LPG access, housing, food security, nutrition, healthcare, and clean drinking water.

The government also plans to enroll potential beneficiaries through details ascertained during the yatra.

Yatra Postponed in Poll-Bound States

The yatra was initially planned to cover all states, but it has been postponed in five poll-bound states – Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Telangana, Rajasthan, and Mizoram – until after the elections. The decision was taken to avoid any potential misuse of the yatra for political purposes.

ED Conducts 25 Raids in Rajasthan in ‘Jal Jeevan Mission’ Money Laundering Probe

ED Raids Rajasthan in ‘Jal Jeevan Mission’ 

As part of their money laundering inquiry into the Center’s “Jal Jeevan Mission” execution in the state set to hold elections, the Enforcement Directorate searched 25 locations throughout Rajasthan on Friday.

The Additional Chief Secretary’s office in the Public Health Engineering Department, Subodh Agarwal, is one of the locations targeted by the raids in the Congress-ruled state of Jaipur and Dausa.

Some engineers, contractors, and former state government officials whose properties are suspected of having connections to the affair are also being covered. The Prevention of Money Laundering Act’s (PMLA) guidelines are being followed when conducting the searches.

Similar raids were also conducted by the Enforcement Directorate in a number of Rajasthani cities on September 1.

The Rajasthan Police’s earlier First Information Report serves as the foundation for the ED’s money laundering probe.

In June of current year, BJP Rajya Sabha MP Kirodi Lal Meena claimed that the central government’s “Jal Jeevan Mission” in Rajasthan was a ₹20,000 crore scam.

In 48 projects under the plan, he had claimed that two firms had been awarded tenders worth ₹900 crore on the basis of forged experience certificates.

Implemented by the Rajasthan Public Health Engineering Department (PHED), the ‘Jal Jeevan Mission’ seeks to supply safe and sufficient drinking water through household tap connections.

In the meantime, the state Congress president Govind Singh Dotasara’s homes in Sikar and Jaipur’s capital city were raided by the ED last month. Vaibhav Gehlot, child of the state’s main priest Ashok Gehlot, was additionally brought in for cross examination in an Unfamiliar Trade The board Act (FEMA) issue.

'Hindi Language'

हर्षल पटेल ने राजस्थान रॉयल्स के खिलाफ झटके 2 विकेट  हर्षल पटेल ने राजस्थान रॉयल्स के खिलाफ 2 विकेट हासिल किए। उन्होंने मैच में राजस्थान रॉयल्स के रियान पराग (48) और इम्पैक्ट प्लेयर डोनोवान फरेरा (7) को पवेलियन की राह दिखाई। उन्होंने मैच में 4 ओवरों में 28 रन देकर दो विकेट हासिल किए। अब उनके आईपीएल 2024 में 22 विकेट हो गए हैं। 

मुंबई इंडियसं के तेज गेंदबाज जसप्रीत बुमराह ने हासिल किए हैं 20 विकेट आईपीएल के इस संस्करण में सबसे ज्यादा विकेट लेने के मामले में अब हर्षल पटेल ने जसप्रीत बुमराह को पीछे छोड़ दिया है। बुमराह ने 13 मैच में 20 विकेट हासिल किए हैं। पर्पल कैप की इस रेस में कोलकाता नाइटराइडर्स के वरुण चक्रवर्ती तीसरे स्थान पर हैं, जिन्होंने 18 विकेट हासिल किए हैं। मुकेश कुमार, अर्शदीप सिंह, युजवेन्द्र चहल और खलील अहमद  17-17 विकेट अपने नाम कर चुके हैं।  वरुण चक्रवर्ती और युजवेन्द्र चहल के पास आईपीएल के इस संस्करण में पर्पल कैप पर कब्जा करने का मौका होगा।
