When your rare pair rarely has new fics. So you either have to make it yourself, consume a brand of fanfic you don’t like, or read fics that aren’t up to date with canon:

Rairpair is when, relative to the total number of works in a fandom, there are very few about this ship. In a fandom with thousands of works and 20 in this ship, that's a rairpair. But if there are only 50 works in the fandom and 20 of them contain the ship, that's not a rairpair.
