ACHES 18. november
Tumblr media
18+ (please see masterlist for cw) aches masterlist previous (17)
I was always waiting, now. My phone was always nearby, in case he called. He’d always text me when he landed, just with the name of the city he was in, “Bucharest.”, “Paris (again).”, “Singapore.”. I’d look up the time distance between us, and predict when he would call. I lived by his schedule, now. It was only a half life, but better than a life without him.
It was around the time he usually called, and I was ready. I kept a bottle of his wine by the couch, sipping it as we talked, so that by the time we hung up, the edges of my vision would crawl inwards, and I would fall asleep on the couch. No missing him, no heartache or emptiness when his voice didn’t fill my head any longer. Just restless, ugly sleep, until I was too thirsty and sore to sleep any longer. I would dream we were together, his thumb in the middle of my lower lip, then wake up with a sob stuck in my throat. I’d skip my thumb over the stupid scar on my hip, reminding myself we were real. And we had been together before.
If I woke up in the morning, I made myself eggs with cherry tomatoes, and plain toast. I would sip my coffee and look out the window. If I woke up in the afternoon, I would sit on the balcony with a glass of water and sunbathe. I didn’t think about much when I woke up. I just felt the edges of the hole around my heart.
Then, I would take my walk. I’d see my mother briefly, and tell her about my dreams. Then I’d cut citrus with Jenna at the bar, and beg her to tell me about her shift the prior evening. The way she dryly recounted ridiculous stories made me shake with laughter, until she sent me home so she could open the bar. I’d get two coffees on the way home, and sit on the couch until he called. I’d toss his full, cold cup in the morning.
“Hi Matty,” I said, smiling into my fist. I curled into the phone at my ear, waiting for his usual response.
“Sweetheart,” he drew out the word in his sing-song smiling tone. It was a relief, a praise, a sigh. It was my name.
“Easy day?” I asked, as I always did.
“Very easy. Amazing, actually.” He laughed, “The crowd was nice. Enthusiastic.”
“Must feel nice. The attentiveness.” I sipped from my glass.
“Mm,” he hummed into his glass. “Sure.”
“Have I said how happy I am for you?”
“I know, darling.” Something rustled in the background. He was probably getting into bed. “And tell me about your day.”
“Not much to say,” I filled my glass. “Bit lonely today. But I don’t want to ruin the mood.”
“Three months I’ve been gone,” he whispered. “It’s alright to be lonely.”
“Yeah,” was all I managed. It was always hard not to cry when he was so sweet, and so far away.
“You want your surprise?”
I laughed, waiting for him to elaborate.
“I’m surprised you haven't found it yet,” he coughed. “You were always so curious about my notebooks.”
I gasped, “What do you mean?”
“Did you go through them?” he asked, “I always assumed you looked through them when I showered.”
I paused, picking at my cuticles. “I wanted to.”
“Well, sweetheart, I’m going to bed a bit early. But check my bedside table.”
“Okay,” I said slowly, jittery with anticipation.
“Goodnight, darling. Love you, love you.” “Love you.”
And he was gone. I wasn’t even buzzed, so his absence spilled inkily from my chest to my hands. It was a rush of cold in a warm room. The steel wind after rain.
I got up, bumping my knee into the coffee table. My wine glass toppled over, shattering and bleeding over the hardwood floors. I cursed, but was too curious about his surprise to care.
I sat on his side of my bed, rubbing my knee. My fingers were still, waiting for permission to open his drawer. I closed my eyes, and pulled it open quickly. The only thing inside was his black Moleskine.
I took it out, running my fingers over the edges of the soft cover. The silky pages. I winced, realizing how much of him was this notebook. It was always with him. Seeing it made me crave his lips on my cheek. His fingerprints were still barely visible on the black cover.
I opened it. The first page was blank, but the next had three words, scrawled in his always-panicked, busy handwriting.
For you, sweetheart.
I dragged my fingers over the etched paper, and I could hear the scratch of his pen. I turned the page.
I met you. You kissed me. We are lonely.
I smirked, reminiscing about the blackout.
You’ve been in my head all day. You said so many honest, drunken words. About your parents, about your life. I can’t wait to meet you. The diamonds in the bracelet are real. I’m sorry I lied.
“Fuck you,” I laughed, glancing at the starry bracelet that was always on my wrist. I knew they were real. I flipped to the next page.
You’re so beautiful today. I’m obsessed with your voice, your humor. And you laugh so easily. I know it’s new, and I know it’s infatuation, but I can’t stop thinking about your mouth and my skin. I feel you all the time. I wonder what your apartment is like. I saw you watching me from the window.
I closed my eyes, tears wetting my cheeks. I couldn’t read this today. I quickly rifled through the pages, seeing how many he had written in. He had completely filled the notebook. Each page seemed to be a day. I shook my head, ready to put the notebook back in his drawer, when a small slip of paper slid out from the pages. I picked it up. The front of it read November, in his script. I turned it over.
When pain flows through your heart and your bones
Don’t worry, darling
I’m here with you.

Dehumidifier: Do You Really Need One for Your Home?
Tumblr media
Singapore, only 1.5 degrees away from the equator, has a tropical climate all year long. It's hot, humid, and has rain showers throughout the year. Imagine stepping into your home after a long day, only to be met with a stifling and damp feeling you cannot escape. This discomfort is a sign of excess moisture in the air, which can lead to a host of problems. Dehumidifiers work by removing excess moisture and controlling humidity levels, creating a healthier and more comfortable living environment for your family in this tropical climate. But, do you actually need one? Let’s find out.
How Do I Know if Excess Humidity is a Problem?
According to studies, the ideal level of humidity in your home should sit between 30% and 50%. Anything above this range leads to dust mites, mold, and mildew, which not only leave musty odors but can also trigger allergies and respiratory problems. Best-rated dehumidifiers for the whole house draw in moist air, condensing the water vapor into a collection tank, and then releasing drier air back into the space.
If you're unsure whether you need to buy dehumidifier for your house, there are simple ways to check your home's humidity levels. Signs like condensation on windows, a musty odor, or visible mold growth can all indicate excessive moisture. Humidity monitors are also readily available in the market that can provide you with the necessary data for surety.
Dehumidifier and its benefits
There are other benefits of using a dehumidifier beyond just preventing mold.
Dust mites and other allergens thrive in humid environments. A dehumidifier helps control these allergens, making breathing easier for those with allergies and asthma. It also saves your electricity bill for running an air conditioner. In humid climates, a dehumidifier can ease the burden on your AC, potentially lowering your energy bills.
Excess moisture can damage furniture, books, and electronics. If you buy a dehumidifier, it will prevent warping, peeling, cracking, and rust on your household items by keeping humidity in check.
Last, but not the least important benefit of buying a dehumidifier is that it boosts the comfort of your home. Dehumidifiers create a more comfortable feel by removing dampness from the air. Dehumidifiers are particularly useful in areas prone to high humidity, such as basements, bathrooms, and laundry rooms.
Factors to Consider When Buying a Dehumidifier
Hopefully, we have convinced you to buy a dehumidifier. But here are some factors to consider when deciding the best dehumidifier for a house.
The size of your home:  Larger homes may require a more powerful dehumidifier.
Your lifestyle:  Taking frequent hot showers or drying laundry indoors, and other such activities can contribute to increased humidity. You can consider smart dehumidifiers with ionizer technology. It releases negative ions that attach to airborne particles like dust, allergens, and even some germs, making them heavier and easier to capture by the dehumidifier's filter or fall to the ground. This can result in improved air quality without needing an air purifier.
Conclusion
So, if you're struggling with excess moisture in your home or office space, consider investing in a dehumidifier and breathe a sigh of relief. You can find various best-rated dehumidifiers in the market. Consider your needs and budget, and keep this blog in mind while buying a dehumidifier and create a healthier and comfortable home for you and your family.

god speaking of weather, for the past 3 days I have had a truly next level headache, like imagine a really bad brain freeze down the left side of your face, but also weirdly numb? it was definitely migraine level, not touchable by my normal codeine dose or the tramadol I keep for emergencies, & I believe I have finally twigged the cause; it has been around 70-77% humidity with a insanely high pressure system hanging around all week, with no rain until a very tiny shower tonight. it is exactly how I felt at the end of every day I spent in singapore, & unfortunately I live here, so this will just keep happening and I will keep suffering, apparently.

I think u dropped this 👑👑
No but seriously I loved that Drabble. Hidden omega George is such a good concept and you write it so well I can’t even put it in words ahhhh
Would love to hear more details if ur feeling up to it 👀👀
Ah thank you 🥺💖
So basically, it's hot and humid as fuck after the race and George feels dizzy. He thinks at first it's just the usual post-race Singapore feeling, that he didn't drink enough but a few mechanics that help him climb out give him already funny looks.
And George just assumes they are pissed too with the race but he doesn't know that he's kind of already entering a pre-heat state from all the stress and exhaustion. Plus, the scent blocker spray he uses has no chance against all the sweat, having come off from the rain/spray and sweat. But George still has his helmet on, lid half-closed, there's no chance he can catch that.
He makes his way back to the garage from parc fermé, already thinking about apologising to his side of the garage first and then finally getting under the shower. Riki waits for him with a sad smile, ready to comfort him when Toto straight up drags George to one of the backrooms. And then just starts shouting about how stupid he behaved on track, that he risked the new engine over losing his head and then both James's hop in to add their cents too. About how they never had to deal with such level of idiocy since Rosberg, that they all thought he had learned by now.
It adds to all the stress already piling up on George and mixes in his head with all the ugly comments he has read the past weeks - and then his body decides to shut down, sending him straight into a panic heat. Which is a heat that lasts only a few hours and you don't necessarily need an Alpha but is more like a 'system reboot', where your body tries to get rid of all hormones induced by the stress an Omega is feeling. Plus, three Alphas cornering George is the worst case scenario to prevent it from happening.
And all three obviously go completely ashen when George does not only crumble to the ground in front of them but now you can clearly smell he's an Omega, suppressants and blockers not working anymore.
Shov, knowing that the three wanted to talk to George and already waiting to cheer him up a bit, storms inside, Bono hot on his heels because they could smell George's panic heat from the outside of the room. They manage to drag George out and into his driver's room, using the moment of shock in the garage before locking themselves inside. They also build a small nest with the little clothing they find lying around and make sure that George drinks enough water in his state, to cool down.
Around them all hell breaks loose because Lewis comes back at that moment, chaos in the garage and in the middle is an unknown Omega scent that is spiked with fear. Toto is trying to knock down George's door, demanding answers while Riki and James A argue (scream) at each other something about doctors and Lewis brain suddenly decides to tell him 'yep, that scent is from your mate, go get him tiger'.
Aleix and Angela then try to desperately hold back two Alphas from knocking down George's door as the mechanics have the clever idea to block the sight into the garage from the cameras and curious glances. Mike, half in panic that his mate is going into a heat inside with George too, is held back by the other James, before more chaos can happen.
He feels incredibly bad ever since screaming at George and gets Mike to calm down enough, that they at least get the team doctor to check up on George. They both know they should get the FIA doctor and that this has to be reported publicly but James can count one and one together and knows that it would be humiliating and career ending. And that is neither something they want for George 👀👀

I recently realised I was born and lived most of my life so far smack on the equator thanks to my grandaunt's world map shower curtain. The line cuts right through Singapore and Malaysia.
And I've always thought of myself as more of a moon kind of a guy than a sun kind of a guy—to put it that way—but that realisation made me think of myself in opposites.
What if I am not of the moon, but of sun and heat and thunderstorms? I tell my friends to use spite as a motivation too often. I miss the sound of the ceiling fan throughout a summer night, every night. People talk about snow and blizzards, but I know monsoons and the moths and bugs that come after rain. I think about anger all the time, how it scares me, how it impassions me.
What if I am not quiet, but loud and annoying? Playing video games with friends makes me yell in excitement. I sing in the shower when I think no one's listening. Water isn't wet and I hope no one can hear me explain through the walls. Here's a fun fact I learned and I'm sorry I won't shut up.
What if I am not a big city kid, but someone, somewhere far away? Riding around with seven younger kids in my grandfather's van. The tire tracks leading up a medium's hut in the middle of a paddy field, where I am told there is nothing wrong with me, but my sister has worms eating away inside of her. Lizards tuck away under the air conditioning, dropping their tails. The drains often overflow with mud and flood water.
What if I am not a crybaby, but someone who smiles and laughs? When I am happy, I am told I have crooked teeth, and I am told I have a dimple on only one of my cheeks. I think I like my face now. I blink slowly to tell a cat and a close one I love them. I make my sister laugh in childhood videos and I send them to her. She replies with "LOL." I think that's the message I sent the most to my best friends.
There's so much to find and to remember in what we think is so unlike us. Because they're not really opposites, are they? They're still us.

Epoxy Grouting & Regrouting: The Ultimate Solution for Waterproofing
Are you tired of constantly dealing with leaking showers, cracked grout lines, and permanently stained surfaces? It's time to switch to epoxy grouting and regrouting in Singapore! This innovative product is the pinnacle of all grouts and is perfect for both commercial and residential surfaces.
In this blog, we'll discuss everything you need to know about epoxy grouting, its benefits, and areas where it can be applied.
What is Epoxy Grouting?
Epoxy grout is a more advanced product than traditional grout, and it requires a bit more effort and skill to use effectively. It's made up of two parts, a resin, and a hardener, that must be mixed together thoroughly before application.
The product dries up faster than standard grout, so it must be applied quickly. It's essential to remove any residue within 20 minutes of application, and excess grout will be repeatedly washed away with a cleaning solution.
Benefits of Epoxy Grout:
It does not stain
It is protected against chemicals
It is 100% non-porous
It lasts a lifetime
It can be used on floors and walls
It does not require sealing
It comes in a large range of colors to match your tiles
Areas for Epoxy Grouting and Regrouting:
Bathrooms: Epoxy grouting is perfect for bathrooms as it prevents water from penetrating into the walls and floors, which can lead to mold growth and structural damage.
Showers: Showers are constantly exposed to water, making them prone to leaks and other waterproofing issues. Epoxy grouting can effectively seal off shower walls and floors, preventing any water damage.
Floors in common areas: Common areas such as lobbies, corridors, and hallways are high-traffic areas that require durable and long-lasting waterproofing solutions. Epoxy grouting is a great option for these areas.
Kitchen splashback tiles: Kitchens are also prone to water damage due to the presence of sinks and other water sources. Epoxy grouting can prevent water from seeping into the walls and floors, protecting your kitchen from water damage.
Balconies and garage floors: Balconies and garage floors are exposed to the elements, making them more susceptible to water damage. Epoxy grouting can protect these surfaces and ensure that they last longer.
Pavers and patio areas: Pavers and patio areas are also prone to water damage due to rain and other weather conditions. Epoxy grouting can help prevent water damage and keep these areas looking great for longer.
Pool surroundings: Pool areas are constantly exposed to water, making them prone to leaks and water damage. Epoxy grouting can effectively seal off the pool area and prevent any water damage.
All wall areas internal and external: Epoxy grouting can be used to waterproof both internal and external walls, protecting them from water damage and ensuring that they last longer.
Common Reasons for Regrouting:
Leaking showers
Cracked grout lines
Leaking balcony floors
Missing grout lines
Permanently stained grout lines
Efflorescence deposits
The choice to change the color of the grout
Crumbling grout lines

Would you rather take a walk in the cold rain, or in the blistering heat? Neither is very appealing, but probably the rain as when you’re finished you can go home, have a bath and a hot drink and warm up under the covers.
Name something of great importance to you. Animals.
How do you typically go about resolving an argument? Depends on the argument and how important it is that I’m right lol.
What is your favorite card game? I’m not really that into card games.
If it were revealed that Religion in its entirety did not actually exist, would your outlook on life be any different? I’m not religious anyway so nothing would change for me. I’d be probably be relieved and maybe a bit smug about it though, hahah.
Which countries) have you been to? / Which was your favorite? I’ve been to - England, France, Scotland, Wales, Italy, Belgium, Germany, Italy, Austria, Switzerland, Spain, Norway, Singapore, Dubai, the UAE, Qatar, Australia, Malaysia and Canada....I think that’s it. My favourites are Switzerland, Italy and Canada.
Have you changed your mind about anything important this week? No, I don’t think so. This week has been pretty chilled, all things considered.
When was the last time that you were in a hospital? Uh, about five years ago when I had to go for my pelvic scans.
What kinds of hobbies are you into? Surveys, watching TV/movies, travelling, horse-riding, walking and exploring new places. When I have money, I also like shopping and going for meals, and I used to LOVE skiing too.
Describe to me what a typical Friday night for you entails. Not much as I’m normally exhausted from working all week. I tend to finish around 1-2pm, pick the dog up, go home, shower, eat and flop in the front of the TV lol. Sometimes we’ll get a takeaway too.
If you had the chance to slip through a portal, despite being aware of any of effects and/or consequences, would you do it? No, I don’t think so.
Do you trust your gut instinct? Yes.
How often do you suffer from panic/anxiety attacks? Not at all anymore, but I used to suffer really badly when I was a teenager/student, and I’ve had a few into adulthood too unfortunately. The last one was a good three years ago now.
As a child, were you satisfied with your home life? Yeah, my actual upbringing at home was fantastic. I wasn’t too happy with school and stuff though.
How many alcoholic beverages do you consume per month on average? Zero. I haven’t touched alcohol for about a year.
If you could do ANYTHING for a living, what would you do? I love what I do now, but maybe something a bit less physical eventually - so maybe running a doggy daycare so I wasn’t walking 4-5 hours a day. Or I’d love to be like, a ride leader at a stables so I could ride all day but not have the commitment of my own horse.
Which color tends to appear most in your wardrobe? Black, grey, purple.
What did you do for your last birthday? I feel like this question is coming up a lot lately. Anyway, I worked until I think about 2pm, then as my mum was with me, we went to the pub for lunch and then I came home to open presents. Mike and I then went out the next day as he was working all day on my actual birthday.
What was your opinion about 2012, and the “end of days?” Ha, this questions just makes me feel old.
Are you interested in anyone at the moment? What are some things that make that person so special? My husband, and well, all sorts. He’s there for me no matter what. He loves me for who I am. He lets me have multiple cats even though he’d prefer us to have none. He puts up with my obsessive cleaning/tidying and lets me burn wax melts all day long lol.
Name five things that you like about yourself. 1 - my determination. 2 - my intelligence. 3 - how good I am with animals. 4 - my memory. 5 - how successful I’ve made my business all on my own.
Name one thing that you would like to change about yourself. My weight and appetite. And yes, I know that’s two things hahah. I have absolutely no self-restraint when it comes to food.
Which parent was more strict when you were growing up? My dad, for sure.
What would your last meal consist of if you could choose it? A very rare steak with lots of fat and garlic butter, rosemary fries and a side of onion rings.
What are some things that initially attract you to the preferred sex? A nice smile, kind eyes, nice arms. I also appreciate people who go out of their way to help strangers and who are nice to serving staff etc. They have to be good with animals too.
What was the last thing that you did that made you feel accomplished? I got Joe to canter on his dodgy rein! That sounds really minor but he hadn’t been ridden for a few weeks and my instructor said everyone else had struggled to get him into canter but I managed it!
Tell me something about your best friend. He’s done a lot of his own tattoos.
Were you bullied as a child, or did you bully others? I was bullied.
What is one of your guilty pleasures? I don’t really get that concept - I mean, I just like what I like lol.
When do you find yourself feeling your best? On beach rides, when I’ve had enough sleep.

In this comprehensive guide, we’ll delve into everything you need to know about the Singapore River Cruise, including the best time for Singapore River Cruise, the sights you’ll see, and how to make the most of your experience.
Understanding the Singapore River Cruise
The Singapore River Cruise is a popular sightseeing tour that takes you along the Singapore River, which meanders through the heart of the city. This cruise offers a scenic and relaxing way to explore the city’s landmarks, historical sites, and architectural wonders. As you glide along the river, you’ll gain insight into Singapore’s transformation from a humble fishing village into a global metropolis.
The Best Time for Singapore River Cruise
When planning your Singapore River Cruise, timing can significantly impact your experience. Singapore’s climate is typically hot and humid year-round, so choosing the best time for your cruise can enhance your enjoyment.
**1. Weather Considerations
The Singapore River Cruise is enjoyable throughout the year, but the weather can affect your experience. The city experiences two main monsoon seasons: the Northeast Monsoon (December to early March) and the Southwest Monsoon (June to September). During these periods, occasional rain showers and high humidity are common.
**2. Best Time of Day
To make the most of your Singapore River Cruise, consider taking the tour either in the morning or evening. Morning cruises offer a peaceful start to the day and provide a chance to see the city as it awakens. Evening cruises, on the other hand, offer a spectacular view of Singapore’s skyline illuminated by lights. The vibrant colors of the cityscape against the backdrop of a setting sun create a picturesque scene.
**3. Avoiding Peak Tourist Seasons
Singapore experiences peak tourist seasons during school holidays and major festivals such as Chinese New Year and the Great Singapore Sale. To avoid large crowds and long queues, plan your river cruise during off-peak periods. Weekdays and early mornings are generally less crowded, providing a more serene experience.
What to Expect on the Singapore River Cruise
The Singapore River Cruise typically lasts around 40 to 60 minutes, depending on the package you choose. Here’s a glimpse of what you can expect during this delightful journey:
**1. Historical Landmarks
As you cruise along the Singapore River, you’ll pass by several historical landmarks that narrate the city’s rich history. Key sites include:
Clarke Quay: A vibrant riverside quay known for its historic shophouses and bustling nightlife. It’s a popular spot for dining and entertainment, with a blend of colonial and modern architecture.
Boat Quay: A historic waterfront area that was once the center of Singapore’s trading activities. Today, it’s home to a mix of heritage buildings and contemporary dining establishments.
Raffles Landing Site: This iconic location marks the spot where Sir Stamford Raffles, the founder of modern Singapore, is believed to have landed in 1819. The statue of Raffles at this site commemorates his role in Singapore’s history.
**2. Architectural Marvels
The Singapore River Cruise offers stunning views of some of the city’s most impressive architectural feats, including:
Marina Bay Sands: A striking integrated resort with a distinctive three-towered design and an iconic rooftop infinity pool. The cruise provides excellent views of this landmark from the water.
The Esplanade – Theatres on the Bay: Often referred to as “The Durian” due to its spiky exterior, this performing arts center is an architectural marvel and a focal point of Singapore’s cultural scene.
The Fullerton Hotel: A grand colonial building that once served as Singapore’s General Post Office. The Fullerton Hotel is now a luxurious hotel that retains its historical charm.
**3. Cultural Insights
During the cruise, you’ll gain insights into Singapore’s cultural heritage and transformation. Many cruises offer guided commentary or audio guides that provide information about the landmarks and the city’s history. This enriches your understanding of the places you see and adds a layer of depth to the experience.
Booking Your Singapore River Cruise
Booking your Singapore River Cruise can be done through various channels, including online travel platforms, hotel concierge services, and local tour operators. Here are some tips for booking:

In this article, we'll explore the benefits of installing an awning in Singapore and how to choose the perfect one for your needs.
Why Choose an Awning?
Protection from the Elements
Awnings provide excellent protection from the sun, rain, and wind. In Singapore’s tropical climate, this means you can enjoy your outdoor spaces without worrying about sudden rain showers or harsh UV rays. By blocking out the sun, awnings also help keep your indoor spaces cooler, reducing the need for air conditioning and lowering energy bills.

Types of Awnings
Retractable Awnings
Retractable awnings are versatile and convenient. They can be extended or retracted as needed, giving you control over the amount of shade. These awnings are perfect for areas where you might want to switch between sun and shade throughout the day.
Fixed Awnings
Fixed awnings are permanently installed and provide constant shade and protection. They are sturdy and durable, making them ideal for areas that require year-round coverage, such as entrances or windows.
Motorized Awnings
For the ultimate convenience, consider motorized awnings. With the push of a button, you can extend or retract your awning effortlessly. Some models even come with sensors that automatically adjust the awning based on the weather conditions.
