Huge commission done for a guildmate. This was our raid static group in Guild Wars 2 few years ago, we started from scrap and our squad leader wanted to frame the moment for future rememberings ^u^ it really was a cute idea. But let me tell you... multiple characters illustrations are so complex to draw! I gave particular attention here to composition and values to make this readeable. I’m a big fan of GW2 mmo by the way ^u^

I've been ingesting all kinds of Blizzard Entertainment information today (it's the first day of Blizzcon) and it made me remember this video 😆

When I first got into WoW, a friend showed me this video and it was extra funny as we had just been leveling in Trial of the Crusader where I did indeed Face Jaraxxus, Eredar Lord of the Burning Legion 🤣😂

Finally got around to dumping screenshots but yes, me and a few buddies took down the Mewtwo raid (Not once, but twice. I have both versions so technically Two MewTWOs)

(And plus my other buddy still needed to get theirs so I took it as a chance to get a second)

Alright everyone, I wanna talk about Tera Raids, because a lot of people seem to have learned some really bad lessons about how they work from the 1-4 star ones and so end up floundering against 5-6 stars.

I'm not opposed to how GameFreak decided to introduce them, necessarily. I probably would have done similar. 1/2-stars gave you regular pokemon, maybe with alternate tera-types, sometimes egg moves, maybe not. 3-stars were the same but higher-level. If you took them on at-level you could probably beat them without using cheers and before enough turns had passed to Terastallize.

4-stars they start introducing the shield, but again, if you fought them at their level (45) you could usually win without needing to Terastallize, even if the fight lasted long enough to allow it.

And because of this we're getting screwed at the 5-stars. Few reasons:

if your team was at or below Turo/Sada's level when you fought them, 5-STARS OUTLEVEL YOU! 5-6 star raids have pokemon at level 75 with guaranteed 4 maxed IVs (5 for 6 star) which means that they are STRONG! They're stronger than anything you saw in a Max Raid in Sword/Shield, which I believe capped around level 65 with a max guarantee of 4 IVs. (if you don't know, IVs means "initial value" which is a bonus applied to a stat generated the first time a pokemon is spawned into the game, either by finding it in the wild or hatching it from an egg)

If you go in expecting to hit the Tera-type hard without accounting for the Pokemon's regular moves, you will be the one getting hurt. For instance, Koraidon is a fighting type, so it certainly is strong against Steel-type Pokemon, but Kilowattrel is a flying type that knows Hurricane, which can one-hit KO even a lv 100 Koraidon. Ask me how I know. Choose a Pokemon that can take a few hits before Terastallizing becomes an option. Another important point: Most non-event raid bosses do not know Tera Blast. They might not have a single move that matches their Tera-type. Plan accordingly.

If you don't use your cheers, you're hurting yourself and your teammates. The defense cheer reduces the damage you take, so take advantage of that. The Heal cheer doesn't just restore HP, it removes all status effects, even volatile ones like Attract, Disable, and Confusion. If your Tera-type attack gets disabled, USE A HEAL CHEER! you'll get it back!*

*quick update, I've learned through trial and error that this isn't the case 100% of the time. I don't know if that's because Tera Raids only work correctly about 2/3 of the time anyway, or because it's simply not guaranteed to happen, but be warned.
