41 - The Search for Faith Dutton
Tumblr media
Part 42
Raised Fair Share of Hell
Please leave thoughts and comments below ❤️
Oil House
Ainsley and her father Tommy were sitting on the couch staring at her computer before he got a call from his work and started his long day.  They had been working on their plan the second he had gotten home after dropping his son and girlfriend off at the man-camp.
Tommy scanned his eyes over the computer screen pointing to the note that dealt with the Rodeo.  “When was she competing in the rodeo?”
“It looks to be when she was high school age.  She won a few medals and even appeared on TV to do an interview.  Look here.” His daughter spun the computer more towards her father, hitting play on the YouTube video.
The person doing the interview asked.  “So why do you do Rodeo, Ms. Dutton?”
“I do it because it's fun.  Most people may think I do this for the awards but it's not true.  I don't really care if they think I'm the Rodeo Queen.” The girl in question appears to be 16 or 17 years old.  Hair in pigtails and a tan cowgirl hat on her head with a grin on her lips.
Someone knocked on the front door causing the pair to pause their search looking at one another.  “Were you expecting someone?”
“No, you?” Ainsley shook her head no.
Her father ignored it and went back to tapping on the computer flipping through pictures of Faith posting with horses and some with a few other kids.  “Who are these people?  Friends or something?” The picture he clicked on was her standing with one boy and one shorter girl and a clear landscape of green and blue sky behind them.
His daughter paused pointing her finger to the shorter girl wearing a cowgirl hat too big for her head it looked t9 be falling off.  “I'm guessing it's a younger sister.”  The little girl looks very close to Faith, but she has bright blonde hair and brown eyes.
“And the boy?” Tommy asked.
She shrugged her shoulders.  “Ex boyfriend maybe.” The boy had slightly darker brown hair than Faith but they had different eye color.
“Why don't her parents have her boyfriend's phone number?” They heard a female voice ask outside the window.  You couldn't see inside because they had closed all the blinds.
A male voice responds.  “Hell if I know why they don't.  I just got a call saying I need to check on her.  Are you sure this is the right address?’
“Yes.  I remember her saying the name Tommy when she left our room.  Plus she'd never cheat on Cooper.”
Ainsley spun around on the couch carefully peeking through the curtains seeing a girl and an older looking cowboy standing at their front door.  “Daddy, there's strangers on our porch.  What do we do?”
“Hide your computer in the bedroom and hide behind the kitchen counter.  I'll handle them.” She followed her father’s instructions quietly going up the stairs and coming back down and hiding but peeking around where she could see the interaction when he opens the front door.  “Can I help you two  - argh - fuck!”
Tommy got shoved against the nearest wall by Travis who bared his teeth demanding answers from the oil man.  “Where is she?  Tell me where she is!”
“Daddy!” Ainsley cried out from her hiding place.
Caroline slowly walked into the rental house standing beside Travis giving a sad look.  “I'm sorry, Mr. Norris.  We're just looking for my roommate.”
“Who’s your roommate?” Tommy coughed attempting to push one of the hands off his throat.
“Faith Dutton.” Caroline replied. “Can you tell us where she is, please?”
“You better not be holding her hostage here, asshole!” Travis snapped back at him.
Ainsley rose from her hiding spot with tearful eyes.  “Please don’t hurt my daddy.  Daddy, tell them where you dropped my brother off.”
“We just wanna make sure she's safe, Mr. Norris.” Caroline softly spoke.
Tommy pushed on Travis's harsh grip, coughing out his answer in breaths. “They’re  - at the - mancamp.  Oh god -”
“Take us there.” Travis released his grip and the old oil man collapsed onto the floor of his home trying to catch his breath.
Tommy slowly got up from the floor and his daughter rushed over helping him stand since he didn’t have good balance.  “Fine but my daughter comes with me - fucking cowboy.” Travis nodded walking outside to his truck.
“Sorry, I didn't know he was going to do that.” Caroline apologies following the cowboy and the pair outside to their trucks to go see her roommate.
Dutton ranch  - Alissa’s pov
It was nightfall on the ranch and we still hadn't heard anything from Travis on whether our daughter was safe or not.  My mother and sister had come over from work hearing the news from John.  John was standing in front of the fireplace with one hand resting on the stone, staring into the flames.  “Do we have any news from Travis on my granddaughter?”
“No.  Kayce called him at 8am and it's almost 9 o'clock now.”
“Now you know the stress you put on your father and I before you got pregnant.” My mother scoffed under her breath sipping on a cup of hot chocolate.
Whipping my head around I gasped standing near my father in law. “What did you say?”
“I said now you know how we felt in your teenage years.” She responded back, tapping the side of her cup with her freehand.  “When you were 13 until 17 your father and I never knew what kind of trouble you were in.  We only knew you were likely with Kayce and your other friends.  And now the same thing is happening with my granddaughter Faith.  It's somewhat ironic to me.”
“Wow, mom.  Thank you for that information that just scare the crap out of me even more.” Spinning on my feet I harshly paced back and forth in front of the couch, feeling a tightness in my chest growing.
My mother gave me a weak look.  “Alissa, I was just trying to lighten the mood.  She could be perfectly fine like you always were.”
“Or she could be in serious trouble, mom!”
Alana calmly entered the conversation.  “Lissa, if I know my niece.  She's resilient just like her mother.”
“You know what, I can't talk about this right now.” I stomped across the door, throwing the door open and slammed it shut behind me.  Standing near the porch railing I bent my head down laying my head in my hands crying for a good minute until I heard someone call my name softly behind me.
“Alissa.  Are you okay, darling?”
Barely lifting my head up from my hands I whisper out the person's name.  “Kayce?”
“Come here, homey.” He rubbed my back, taking my hand in his leading me over to the porch swing.  Together we sat down on the wooden swings and he wrapped his arms around my shaking form.
Burying my face against his chest I stained his shirt with tears. “What if she's hurt or worse.”
“We can’t think that way, Lissa Rae.” He spoke into the air.
Looking up into his eyes I croaked.  “How are you so calm right now?”
“I already had my freak out.  If your mother asks, a raccoon threw her gravel driveway to hell, not my truck.”
I chuckled at the image laying my head back on his chest and he kissed my forehead.  “The first time Faith looked like your younger twin was when she rode a horse by herself.  Do you remember that?”
“I'll never forget it.” Kayce responded and I weakly smiled at the memory.
It was a cloudy day on the ranch but that didn't damper our daughter's excitement.  Today she would be getting her own horse to ride when she turned 13 years old.  “I’m so excited, mama.” She bound up and down walking beside me.
“I can tell sweetie.” I grinned down at her seeing her father lead the light brown horse down from the horse trailer that was near the fence area.  “Hopefully she’ll be a good horse for her.  Don’t you think, Kayce?”
Faith slowly walked towards the horse that made a noise until her father stopped petting the side of its head.  “How do I get up on her, grandpa?”
John came up behind her offering out his hand that was extended for me with a wooden box sitting beside my horse since she wasn’t as tall.  “Just put your right foot in the strup and swing your leg over the other side of the saddle.” He explained seeing her lift her body up onto the horse and swung her left leg over the saddle, shifting until she felt comfortable on it.
Petting her horse's nose I smiled up at my firstborn sitting on her horse.  She tipped her cowgirl hat up slightly so we could see her face better.  “How do I look, mama?”
“Like a natural, babygirl.” I grinned and the two men with me mirroring the same expression as I did.
“Don’t bounce against the horse.  All right.” Her father raised his freehand in the air bringing his hand down while he explained. “When the horse bounces up, let it stand you in the stirrups.  And when it comes down, sit back in the saddle.”
“Be careful and don’t stay out too late.” I called out to her when she gently tugged the reins and walked to the open gate.  John, Kayce and I watched her ride off into the green fields, howling up to the sky with such innocence in her voice.

Hi I just saw your page and I was wondering if you could write an missy x fem reader as friends and reader is there for the summer and they kinda get into trouble together and it’s kinda angsty but ends with fluff maybe.
Your the only person I found that write for missy.
And maybe you can make the reader a little autistic so like sometimes she can’t sarcasm. (I’m autistic and it’s so hard to find autistic y/n that I can relate to)
If you can’t write it that’s fine.
Hope your doing fine and having a nice day.
Srry that this is long.
Hi anonymous asker, sorry it took me a little bit but I hope this is what you wanted. Missy is my favorite character along with Georgie and Meemaw 😁 You are the first person to request anything for Missy so thank you so much
Always Got Your Back
Tumblr media
My mom decided that we would come to Texas for the summer instead of staying in Montana like we did last year which was so awesome for me because that meant I got to see my best friend Missy Cooper. My mom parked the truck and I jumped out of the backseat seeing the front door of the Cooper house fling opened. Holding my arms open Miss tackled me in a hug of laughter and giggles where we tumbled to the grass. “Y/n! I can’t believe you’re here.”
“Neither can I, Missy. I have been so excited since my last day of school.” I barely broke the embrace still hugging her and grinning like it was Christmas morning while my mom grabbed some stuff and Missy’s dad and brother Geoegie come outside to help get our bags since we we’re staying at their house.
Missy takes me by the arm dragging me towards the baseball fields that her drove us to so she could show me her skills as the only female girl on the baseball team. Standing behind her I watched her throw almost all the baseballs in the exact same spot. “Do you want to give it try?” She offered holding out a ball to me that she had in her hands.
“Missy I don’t know…” I shook my head not sure if I should or not.
The Cooper girl wasn’t taking no for an answer though. “Come on. I can teach you. It isn’t as hard as you think.”
Nodding my head I let her help me get set up. She stands behind me giving me the ball moving my fingers on the red stitch marks on the ball, drawing my arm back like she did a few minutes ago. “So you just look where you want the ball to go and throw it with a little give. Okay, so I’m gonna stand behind you and see how you do.” She stepped backwards while i launched the ball forward where it hit the fence a little off to the left compared to how hers were in the center of the fence.
“You think adding another girl to our team will make you any better,Cooper. That girl couldn’t throw if she had her eyes closed.” Whipping my head around I heard a boy say voice who was watching us from the outside of the fence.
Missy spun around on her feet. “What do you want Marcus?”
“I came to practice but I didn’t expect to see two girls who can’t throw worth nothing.” He scoffed toward my friend where I turned my hands into fists at my sides.
Snapping at him I dared my best friend. “You know what I..I bet Missy could take your eye out without blinking.”
“Oh yeah and what do you know about baseball huh. Why don’t you go sit where the rookies eat lunch…behind the plate.” Marcus walked up and gave me a little shove.
I stumbled back slightly confused at what he meant by that. Growing up I have never been good at sensing Sarcasm so I wasn’t sure. “What do you mean?”
“Say Cooper how stupid is this friend of yours - ow!” Marcus got cut off when something hit him in the face where he held his hand over his eye and I saw a baseball at his feet where he was groaning in slight pain.
Turning my head around quickly I saw Missy was dusting her hands on her pants glaring at the boy she used to like in middle school until she found out he liked another girl. “Missy!”
“What’s a baseball player do when his eyesight starts to fail him?” Missy grumbled at him watching the boy rush to his feet and running through the fence line. “He takes a job as an umpire.”
Rushing back over to her I gave her a half smile liking what she had done for me. She has always been there for me no matter what. “Missy, thank you. But uh…was that sarcasm?”
“Yes it was. And don’t worry about what he said. With practice you can get better Y/n.” She holds my hand in hers grinning brightly dragging me towards the fence where she hollered for her dad knowing what would make m feel better. “Dad, Y/n needs ice cream!” The three of us got some ice cream and I felt better afterwards knowing I was in for an exciting summer with her.

What defines a Best Friend. A best friend is somebody who is always there. A best friend will do the most stupid and dangerous stuff with you most of the time. A best friend relationship however will make things rather complicated when you start developing feelings for them…for me that was around age 15 -16. But I'm getting ahead of myself. Let's go back to age 12.
Georgie and I were running around the backyard of his house chasing each other. My parents were out on a date night so I was staying over at his place. We were in middle school during that time. “Y/n, I’m gonna get you.” He called out to me while he was nearly on my heels.
“Yeah right, Cooper - ah ow!” I suddenly tripped on a part of the swingset. I held my wrist seeing some cuts across my right wrist but it didn’t seem dislocated or anything.
Georgie came rushing over to check on me. “Y/n, are you okay?”
“I think I’m gonna be okay. But this is all your fault.” I snapped showing him the scrapes on my wrist that weren't just a little cut.
He slumped his shoulders. “I’m sorry but what do ya want me to do about it?”
“Make me feel better.” I answered him with a snarky remark.
Georgie bites his lip for a second thinking until he saw a somewhat sharp rock on the ground by the swing which was what I had tripped on. He picked it up drawing it across the same wrist as mine doing his best to copy the marks I had. “There now we have the same mark. We are even.”
“Ya know only a real friend would do something like that, Georgie.” I said when he helped me up off the dirt ground looking up into his eyes since he was barely taller than me.
He sent me a cheeky smile, bumping my cut wrist with his own. “We’re best friends. Always have, always will be.”
Laying on the couch in the living room of my house I was on my own until my parents came home from work after getting done with school for the day. Somebody knocked on the front door and I bolted upright knowing who it was. Opening the door, Georgie stood on my front porch. “What are you doing here?”
“Thought you’d be bored and my Meemaw sent me for beer and said she’d tip me in fire crackers. You wanna come with me?” He asked me.
I shake my head grabbing my coat at the same time. “I don’t know. Can’t we get arrested for this?”
“Possibly but only if we get caught and I think I can be pretty convincing.” Georgie didn’t see my worry with it.
Shrugging on my jacket I followed him to his meemaw’s car knowing she trusted me to drive. I was only a few months older than him so she knew I was closer to getting my drivers license then he would be. “Okay, I’ll drive but you go into the store. My parents will have my ass if they find out.” I warned him starting the car and we headed to the store.
We pulled into one of the closests parking spaces since she had handicap plates giving me a view of the cashier woman who looked to be his meemaws age. “If you’re lucky she won’t ask too many questions. I’ll be waiting here.” He shut the car door and went inside. I kept a close eye on the women while he was in the back getting a case of beer that she liked before going to the counter.
Georgie and the cashier were chatting up for a few good seconds then coming out with the case in hand. He came outside putting the bag down on the floorboard looking at me. “I can’t believe my accent worked.”
“You’re what now?” I raised a brow at him.
He looked back at me. “I used an Italian accent.”
“Georgie…” I groaned, hitting my head on the steering wheel where the horn went and the front entrance of the store door flung open with the elderly woman shouting at us.
“Give me back that beer!”
Georgie whipped his head around to me panicking. “Go, go!” I slammed my foot on the gas and spun the steering wheel around until we were out of the parking lot and away from the store. I wasn’t sure how fast I was going or if the cops were on us because I didn’t stop driving until we got back to the Cooper house.
“I can’t believe I just did that.” Sliding down in the driver’s seat to hide from someone’s view.
Georgie chuckled, reaching into the bag taking out one of the beers pointing it in my direction. “You wanna celebrate. I doubt she’ll know it’s missin’.”
“No! We’re only 14.” I raised my voice at him quickly getting out of the car. Going inside the house I covered my ears hearing music blaring through the house and figured it was coming from his sister's room she shared with Sheldon. When their memaw babysat there were no rules.
Sheldon, who was playing cards with his memaw, saw me standing by the kitchen backdoor. “Y/n, are spending the night?”
“I’m not sure. Why do you ask?” I questioned him.
He replied looking back at his cards. “I am just making sure that you won’t mess up my bathroom schedule.”
“I don’t think I will.” I lowered my hands from my ears the second the backdoor opened and Georgie came in carrying the bag.
Memaw turned in her chair across from Sheldon when he handed her the bag. “They give you any trouble?”
“Nah. Oh yeah, change.” Georgie reached inside his pocket holding it out to her.
She held her hand up., handing him some packs of firecrackers. “You keep it. Here you go ... .hey unless you want me to take them back you better give me my missing bottle.” She paused searching through her bag noticing the bottle.
“Fine…” He grumbled hearing me chuckling behind him. “Be quiet Y/n.”
“I told you she’d notice. I tried to warn ya.” Shrugging my shoulders we both walked outside into the backyard.
Georgie lights off the first firecracker throwing it in the grass and it made a loud boom making contact. He hands me the next one nudging my arm. “Give it a go.” I nodded, throwing it up into the air and it hit the grill creating the same boom.
“Wow…Georgie, can I ask you something?” I spun on my feet throwing my hair in my face.
He stands close to me still holding onto the pack of firecrackers in his hands. “What is it, darling?”
“Are we always going to be my best friend? I mean I know we have these marks but does this mean the same to you as it does to me?” Rolling up my jacket sleeve I showed him the familiar cut mark.
Georgie smiled, putting his wrist with the mark up against mine. “We’ll always be friends.” I nodded but I had hoped he would be able to read between the lines someday that I maybe wanted more.

I hope that after Young Sheldon wraps, all of the kids keep getting more roles and have as long and successful careers as they want. They’re all talented and absolutely adorable.
I also hope they throw out TBBT’s version of the ending completely and give us a happy one for this show, but if that can’t happen, I still want to see the kids keep shining.

Dutton Ranch
Alissa’s pov
“Hey, hey, hey!” I hollered with my horse pushing a small herd of cattle into the wooden fence area so that the vet could check them out and make sure they don’t have any infections.  Carter ran over shutting the gate, closing them inside the pen with me tugging the reins of my horse so he stopped allowing me to dismount and tie the rope around the wooden fence post.
Footsteps came up to me where I felt tiny arms leap up into my arms.  “Momma!” Madeline’s hair was loosely flowing everywhere in the wind.
“Hi baby, what have you been up to this morning?” I lowered her down on her feet and on the dirt ground, bending down on a knee to be eye level with her.
She looked up into my eyes with a cheerful smile, holding up three fingers.  “Grandpa John let me eat three donuts and he said he’d take me out ridin’.”
“Did you ask daddy first?” I asked her since Kayce and I had agreed that our kids weren’t allowed to ride on a horse alone until they turned 13 years old.
She shook her head no.  “He’s busy with Tate.  So - can I mommy?”
“You have to promise me that you will do whatever Grandpa John tells you.  We don’t need you getting hurt.  Can you do that?” I held up my pinky and she lopped her pinky with me.
“Cross my heart and hope Horses are in Heaven.”
I grinned ruffling her hair.  “That’s my girl.”
Someone came riding up to us on horseback where we saw her grandfather John.  He pulled his horse to a stop offering his hands for me to lift up my daughter onto the saddle. “I won’t keep her out too long, Alissa.” He sat her in front of him on the horse, gently kicking his horse in the belly galloping off into the open fence.
“Please avoid the rivers, John!” I hollered with my hands around my mouth recalling when Tate had accidentally fallen in when John took him out for a ride.  Crossing my arms over my chest I sighed watching the pair ride off together.
I certainly missed my eldest daughter Faith but Madeline helped the hurt not be so horrible.  Tate sure had an attitude about him now but so did my husband when he started puberty.
“Hey, what’s up?” My phone started ringing with my sister in law’s picture appearing on my Home Screen.  Sliding the answer call button I put her on speaker.
“You’re gonna want to see who’s speaking on the tv.  Come inside the house.  I’m in the living room.”
Locking my phone I gently took my horse by the reins, taking him back to the barn.  Walking up the porch steps and into the house I found her seated on the living room couch with a whiskey glass in one hand and the tv remote in the other.  “So what did you want me to see so badly?”
“Just watch the screen.” She unpaused the tv where I recognized John’s former secretary Clara walk out in front of the podium in the State Capital building.
“Good afternoon Montana citizens, I must say when John Dutton retired and endorsed me to become the next Governor I was utterly shocked.  Four years later I am sad to be done with my term.  Thankfully though I am grateful to introduce the next soon to be Governor of our great state of Montana, Alana Lambert!” Clara announced, extending her hand outward to bring my sister out onto the huge stage where she waved to the large crowd.
“I’m happy she agreed to our plan.  My mother can remain the family lawyer until Alana is done with her term four years from now.”
Beth turned the tv volume down when the pair exited the stage not talking any questions from the press.  “If we keep the family in the Governor's seat we will never lose this place.”
“Next thing I’m going to be hearing from you is that Kayce and I need to pop out some more kids.  Cause Faith wants to be a veterinarian, Tate’s a rancher and Madeline is too young to know what she wants to do with her life.”
Beth chuckles while taking a sip from her glass.  “I’m sure you and my brother would have no problem making another baby.”
“Bethany!”
She sends me a look with a smirk.  “You’ve got nothing to worry about.  Maybe Faith’s boyfriend will want to be the Governor.”
“Boyfriend.  My daughter doesn’t have a boyfriend.”
Beth responded seconds before Faith’s name appeared on her phone screen.  “Yes, she does.  Look if you don’t believe me, talk to your daughter.”
“Aunt Beth, you were so right about the dress.”
Taking the phone from her hands I glared at my daughter over the video call.  “Why didn’t you tell me you had a boyfriend before you told her!”
“Momma!” Faith shrieked where I could see someone sitting beside her on what appeared to be a rooftop.  “Um - I was going to tell you.  It’s just if daddy found out he might come hurt him.”
I asked her simply.  “Can I see this boyfriend please?”
“Hi - hi Mrs. Dutton.  I’m Cooper, Cooper Norris.” A boy with shaggy dark brown hair nervously waved when she aimed the phone at him.  “My dad is Thomas Norris.”
Whispering to my sister in law I mouthed the words.  “Google his father.”
“Thomas Norris is a crisis manager executive for the large oil companies out in Texas.” Beth read the man’s description aloud from her computer screen.
I complimented the boy hearing footsteps entering the kitchen.  “That’s impressive.  Sounds like you’ve got a good one - Oh that’s your father.  I love you bye.”
“Bye guys.  Love you.” My daughter waved and ended the call a minute before Kayce came into the room.
“Who was that on the phone?” Kayce leaned his elbows on the back of the couch.
Beth had already shut her computer so he couldn’t see who we had googled, knowing it would be better for him to find out the secret later.  “It was Faith just telling us goodnight.  She said to give Mads a big hug for her and tell her she misses her.”
“Awe okay.  I’ll call her tomorrow.  I wanted to tonight but work was a pain in my ass so I’m beat.” Kayce removed his hat walking towards the staircase once hanging his hat up on a wall hook.  “Wake me up before dinner, yeah.”
Getting up from the couch I followed him up the stairs and into our bedroom watching him remove his shirt and his muddy boots before laying down underneath the covers.  “Do you want to talk about what happened at work?”
“Not really.  I’m just really tired.” He responded, staring up at the wooden ceiling with his arms crossed behind his head.
Removing my boots and my jeans I slid into the bed and underneath the sheets.  Draping one arm over the center of his stomach with my head laying in the crook of his neck.  “Do you care to hear about my day instead?”
“Shoot.” He replied.
Tracing patterns on his bare chest I softly spoke.  “Carter, Rip, Liyod and I tended to the new cattle that was brought in yesterday.  Tate has been studying the different techniques for the branding and calving season coming up in a few weeks.  Oh, Madeline and John went out for a ride and should be back before dinner.”
“That sounds like a better day than mine.  I had to sell off a family's cattle because the current owner died last night and we didn’t want the bank to take all the money the family had left.” Kayce explained twirling some of my hair in between his fingers while he started thinking back on his day.
Closing my eyes I muttered under my breath knowing he’d still hear me.  “I miss our Faithy Rae.”
“Yeah, I do too.” Kayce sucked in a breath thinking back on how he was raised.  “But we agreed this is how we protect this place.  By letting our children choose their own paths.”
Intertwining my hand with his free one I squeezed it gently knowing what he meant by that sentence.  “We’re doing the best we can raising our kids, Kayce.  That’s all we can do.” Regardless of how much we missed our daughter who was another state away we knew that not deciding who she would be in life like John had would be the best thing for them.
