#Blogtour Her Convenient Vow To The Billionaire by Jane Holland
It’s my turn on the Blogtour Her Convenient Vow To The Billionaire by Jane Holland. About the Author (Author image credit: Anna Rybacka) Jane Holland grew up in a house of writers. Her mother was bestselling Mills & Boon author Charlotte Lamb, her sister also penned romances, and her father was a journalist and biographer. Small wonder she became a writer herself! Starting off in poetry,…

Virtual Strangers by Sam Canning
Two people. One desk. A million Zoom calls. What could go wrong? When Ada and Fraser find themselves freelancing from the same café together every day, they strike up a mutually beneficial friendship. Fraser saves her the best biscuits and Ada protects the best table when he's running late. As they work side-by-side Ada can't help but notice how attractive Fraser is, and how well they get along. But then Ada signs up to an Agatha Christie fan fiction site and she starts chatting with a guy online. His interests are the same as hers, and the anonymity helps them both be more honest and open. As Ada's messages with the mystery man become deeper and more honest, she thinks she's falling for him. Ada is torn between Fraser and Myster-E - but can you have real feelings for someone when you're virtual strangers?
My Review: I read this book and then checked the flight to Edinburgh because I fell in love with the descriptions of the city and wished I was there. This is a long love letter to Edinburgh and a novel, a rom-com with two human main characters and a very big non-human main character. I had fun and enjoyed the story; I share the love of Agatha Christie with Ada and Myster E and I liked how Ada is a realistic character and I found some common traits with her. As this is a rom-com you already know there will be some romance, fun, some interesting social remarks and a compelling plot. It’s the first book I read by Sam Canning and won’t surely be the last. Highly recommended. Many thanks Zaffre and Rachel’s Random Resources for this arc, all opinions are mine

I'm delighted to share a post from Alice May about her writing routine to celebrate the release of her new book, The Mid-life Trials of Annabeth Hope #blogtour #writingroutine @rararesources @AliceMay_Author @alicegmay
Novels, ideas and the writing routine by Alice May I’ve learned in the ten years that I have been writing, that there are many different stages involved in writing a novel. Each stage is different and, as a result, the routine changes accordingly. Writing my new novel, The Mid-life Trials of Annabeth Hope, involved the following stages. Collecting my tools. The initial phase of writing a book…

The Puppet Maker by Jenny O'Brien (Detective Alana Mack#1)
The scrap of paper looked as if it had been torn from a diary. The words written in faint pencil. The letters rounded, almost childlike: Please look after her. Her life and mine depend on you not trying to find me.
When Detective Alana Mack arrives at Clonabee police station, in a small Irish seaside town on the outskirts of Dublin, she doesn't expect to find a distressed two-year-old girl sobbing on the floor. Abandoned in a local supermarket, the child tells them her name is Casey. All Alana and her team have to go on is a crumpled note begging for someone to look after her little girl. This mother doesn't want to be found. Still recovering from a terrible accident that has left Alana navigating a new life as a wheelchair user, Alana finds herself suddenly responsible for Casey while trying to track down the missing mother and solve another missing person's case… a retired newsagent who has seemingly vanished from his home. Forced to ask her ex-husband and child psychiatrist Colm for help, through Forensic Art Therapy, Alana discovers that whatever darkness lies behind the black windows in Casey's crayon drawing, the little girl was terrified of the house she lived in. Then a bag of human remains is found in a bin, and a chilling link is made – the DNA matches Casey's. Alana and her team must find the body and make the connection with the missing newsagent fast if she is to prevent another life from being taken. But with someone in her department leaking confidential details of the investigation to the media, can Alana set aside her emotional involvement in this case and find Casey’s mother and the killer before it's too late?
My Review: I was on the edge and holding the breath I didn’t know I was holding which is a a sort of commonplace phrase but there were moment’s I felt like I was in the story. Alana is strong and abrasive character. The author did an excellent job in developing a character who’s been recently wheelchair bound and how she’s adapting. My brother-in-law is hemiplegic, and some traits of Alana brought me back in time to when he had to learn again to move in a world which is full of barriers and people who consider you too weak to face any difficulty. This is not a cosy crime. This is a gory, gritty and dark crime that bring us to very dark places, but it also shows a lot of empathy towards the victims. There’s grief, darker, there’s a lot of evil in this story but also a great team that works together to solve and find the bad guys. I love them, the descriptions of Dublin and the tightly knitted and adrenaline-fuelled plot. Can’t wait for the next story. Many thanks to Storm Publishing and Rachel’s Random Resources for this digital copy, all opinions are mine

The Author: Born in Dublin, Jenny O'Brien moved to Wales and then Guernsey, where she tries to find time to write in between working as a nurse and ferrying around 3 teenagers. In her spare time she can be found frowning at her wonky cakes and even wonkier breads. You'll be pleased to note she won't be entering Bake-Off. She's also an all-year-round sea swimmer. Jenny is represented by Nicola Barr of The Bent Agency and published by Storm Publishing and HQ Digital (Harper Collins).
