Today is Rachel Scott's birthday, a beautiful kind girl whose life was cut short. loved by many, full of faith, poetry, intelligence, kindness, and creativity. Though she had her struggles in life, she had a plan to change no matter what crossed her path.🕊
July 23, 2024 "Last night I finished going through boxes of things people have left on Rachel’s cross when my mom would travel and speak. I read every letter and looked at each item, washing and saving it all down to one full box in memory of Rachel’s life. What an honor. My family all picked out a few things each to keep, including her nieces and nephews. God continues to use her life and death to reach others. ❤️This was 40 hours plus of work. A labor of love for our hard working momma who shared her daughter with the world."
you know August 5th should be Rachel Scott day because that's the day she was born although she never got to live a full life like you and me with kindness and and compassion your spirit will always be alive on her birthday and the day she died...🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼💔💔💔 Rest in peace Rachel I know you're smiling and mile high heaven in Colorado
My next few posts will be telling the stories of the Columbine victims in order.
THE FIRST KILLED
On April 20th 1999, Rachel Scott was the first victim.
At the time of the massacre she was 17 years old and a junior at Columbine.
ABOUT RACHEL
She was an outgoing person, a ray of sunshine. She was a Christian and would stand up for what she believed in.
She also was an aspiring writer and actress. She often wrote in her journal and had performed a mime dance in 1998, a year before the massacre.
She was the middle of 5 children. Craig being to most outspoken of the siblings. (I believe he’s the other kid in the GIF above)
WHAT SHE LEFT BEHIND/HER LEGACY
“Don't let your character change color with your environment. Find out who you are and let it stay it's true color.” - Rachel Scott
Rachel’s death wasn’t just the end of her story. It was a new beginning.
Not only were her journals left behind, but they sparked something new. With the help of her family and friends wonderful things have happened under her name.
The most notable is Rachel’s challenge
(https://rachelschallenge.org)
Which has saved many lives
HER LAST JOURNAL ENTRY
Just before the massacre Rachel would unknowingly enter her last entry for her journal.
This entry had a drawing of a pair of eyes crying onto a rose. 13 tears to be exact, which is the same number of victims of the massacre that would happen only a few hours later.
HER CAR
“In my eyes, she was just one of those kinds of people you know you won't ever meet again“
“She was the kind of person only born once."
After her death, many of her friends turned her car into a memorial sight.
Below is her grave and various other images that I couldn’t categorize
i know this will sound weird because of my whole dylan thing but i really want to get into rachel joy scott. anyone know where i should start? preferably factual sources, of course.
happy 42nd birthday, rachel. i’m so sorry it was cut short and you’re not here to celebrate it today. thank you for spreading kindness and love in the short time you were here. i’ve been thinking of you today. rest in peace 🪽🤍
I was watching “She’s All That” the 1999 teen rom-com the other night (all the way through for the first time) and I can’t help but think every time I see the lead actress of the movie, she looks almost exactly like Rachel on prom night. From her dress, to her hairstyle… Even the actress’s real name is “Rachael.” Ps. It’s a very cute movie! 💕🎬✨
Rachel Scott , Nick Baugmart , Lauren Townsend, Cassie Bernall, Dylan Klebold, Corey DePooter, Isaiah Shoels, Robyn Anderson, Samantha Haviland; Attendend Prom in 4/17/99. Later in 3 Days Their Lifes Would Change Forever…
About Event;
something concerning the prom that was isaiah's (I don't know if it was an invitation or a brochure). And the booklet of Rachel.
Post columbine: 2000 prom.
Missy Mendo & Kelly Vandame.
Missy was a sophomore at the time of the 1999 massacre. it looks like she was invited to the prom. because it looks like it was in 2000 because of the date. it confuses me that it was a 1999 dance. maybe she was a freshman in 1998, then sophomore in 1999, then junior in 2000, most likely she graduated in 2001.
Kelly was 17 years old at the time of the massacre. grade not specified. she graduated in 2000. in the picture she is with her prom date, she later married him and they had 2 children.
