Ridge Racer 64 - Beaten on January 18th, 2023
quite a good racer! i'd never played this one before but i got pretty into ridge racer R4 on the PS1 around this same time last year. i think R4 is the better game, but RR64 is still a fun time. the racing itself is solid, but the tracks are just the same 3 recycled environments over and over again which is a little disappointing. good music though, and lots of cars to choose from. wouldn't play again, but i enjoyed my time with it. riiiidge racer!

Disintegration Anxiety (Part 6/?)
part 1 - part 2 - part 3 - part 4 - part 5
There’s a weird sense of relief in feeling the vibrations of pirate spaceships going by, when your fear of the systems possible deconstruction of your very being is so much greater.
Hiding from the pirates, clearly trying to kill you, should be more nerve wracking by lightyears, but in the darkness of the cave Tom’s dug himself in a passing asteroid, its reassuring to feel those vibrations over the darkness and silence of space that the Atlas’s system copies so well.
As a matter of fact, his fear of the systems endless darkness and current warnings really puts his mind off the fact that he’s hiding from space pirates. The radiation of every sun in 10 light years. The cold non-existent atmosphere of space. The heat death of falling through the nearby planets atmosphere as he's pulled in by gravity. The fact that his friends have probably just hurled to their deaths through the planet's atmosphere below judging by the explosion that he had last seen before being chased off by a ship.
Tom could go on if it weren’t for his systems screaming at him. Again, far more distracting than those other problems.
He struggles to stay calm as his system continues to remind him of how he very much should not be where he is right now, but also how it can’t return him to the system.
-Error collecting data for retrieval-
-Data may corrupt and fail to load on transfer to system-
-Would you like to continue transfer to the system? y/n-
"No! No!"
Tom mashes the no button as his life may depend on it while drilling further into the asteroid with the two multi tools he has on hand. He's in far enough he's hidden from the ship that had been chasing him before but now mining through the asteroid is giving him the resources he needs to satisfy his other screaming systems like Life Support.
-Data transfer system paused-
-Starting data error solution wizard-
He's surprised it even gives him the option to transfer to the system this time given it typically takes him no matter what he wants. The system has already messed up his data several times before without a warning. Who's to say what would happen now that it's given him a warning? Sweat trickles down the back of his neck despite the efforts of his Thermal Regulation system.
Edd, Matt, and Fuckface had already mentioned that he was hard to get off the system at times, how likely is it they'd be able to get him off the system at all now with data errors? Actually, now that he thinks about it, that was probably Tords plan all along, get Tom stuck on the system so he wouldn't have to deal with him ruining his plans anymore.
Tord had the uncanny ability to adjust things on their suit, or tools, or ship, to help them out. Extend the signal of Matt's radio communicator, reduce the radioactivity that Edd had developed, increase Toms suit durability (or so he said).
Tom has no doubt he has been used as a guinea pig for Tords little experiments and upgrades with their suits and data. He knew Tord was good at getting into the inner code of the system but, how much messing around would he have to do to get the system to reject him so badly?
-Data Error RR64 corrupt DNA sequence identified-
-Attempt DNA Data Repair? y/n-
Tom freezes.
"What the fuck!?" He whisper screams to himself, eyes wide in terror, reading and re-reading the message.
How could his DNA sequence be corrupted? He knows radiation can mutate cells, they’d all upgraded their radiation shields to an excessive level due to the radiation Edd put out knowing this, but… What would it do to his DNA if he did fix it? What would happen if he didn't? This is far worse than the time he found out Tord had messed with his memory data. He still couldn't properly remember if his mother was a water melon or a bowling ball. There was no way Tord could get that deep into the system… right? To mess with DNA… to-to…
Tom can’t ignore his gut feelings, he shouldn’t doubt what Tord might have gotten access to, who knows what he could have done to his DNA? For the grudge they guy had against the Atlas he was no better than the system himself sometimes.
Tom decides to go with the lesser of two evils. Better the devil you know then the devil you don't, right? He had some faith The Atlas would bring him back, even if it struggled to do so. Tord through… Tom has no doubt the man means to off him permanently.
He hits no again and his suit continues on its list of errors and warnings, pausing only to demand for more resources to fuel its waning power supply. He nearly tunes his suit out but he can't because the only thing worse than the noise of his suit is the silence of space and the silence of waiting on the system.
Especially now with the threat of possibly being stuck there forever or maybe worse.
So here Tom sits in the dark heart of an asteroid, with two multi tools, a rapidly depleting bag of resources, and a system telling him he is essentially going to be erased from existence.
He shivers in the tiny space he's made, only the walls holding him up. He wouldn't be able to stand let alone sit up with how much he's shaking. His system beeps a warning as his life support system and protective modules are dropping again. He recharges them mindlessly now, he has to keep them up or he'll die.
He'll run out of resources eventually though...
He needs help.
Finding a way to set his systems to auto refuel he changes the warning system to message display only. He turns on his coms, and with fingers crossed, hopes that he can get a hold of his friends.
“Edd? Matt? Guys? Hello, can anyone hear me?” Tom speaks into the coms over the imagined sound of the whirring multi-tools chewing away at the asteroid. He calls and calls, worry building in him until…
Crackling and static then, “What?” faint, a murmur from Matt, it sparks a hope in Tom but just barely, Matt doesn’t sound all there.
“Matt! Matt! I’m stuck- I can’t- I-the system-the” Tom stops to collect himself, the reality of his situation has hit him that much more now that he’s reached someone and fear has crept into his voice. “Matt you can hear me right? Is-is Edd there with you? Please respond.”
There’s more crackling and some distorted sounds before a sharp noise, not unlike a scream, breaks through the static startling Tom. He drops into silence, fear getting a tighter and tighter hold on him again as the static drags on, his heart is racing. Is Matt under attack? Should he risk calling out to him again?
He doesn’t know how long he sits there for, brain buzzing like the static of the coms, his breath stuttering in his chest harder and harder. The silence is deafening and without the vibration of ships nearby his mind begins to feed him the worst of thoughts and he beings to spiral.
"Ed..T-m? T-T-T-ErRr.... sss? ….o?" Matt’s voice breaks through and Tom scrambles to respond coming back to himself.
“Matt? Matt! Please, please tell me you can hear me Matt, I need help. I’m-I’m…”
There’s a quiet crackle. “..elp? ….eed help?” Tom nearly cries in relief at hearing the response.
“Yes! Yes Matt! Please, I’m stuck on an asteroid and my systems-the system it won’t…” There’s sudden click of the com disconnecting and Tom’s heart drops. “No, no please. No! Come on!”
Fear and frustration mounting Tom’s hands are shaking so badly as he attempts to re-connect but is met with more static or connection declined messages, he wants to scream. He nearly does too, when it reconnects with a whine and pop before a bust of static lets out a “Sorry…” then dies completely.
He stares dumbfound for a moment before a different message begins to scroll across his com screen. In his fumbling attempts to re-connect to Matt he inadvertently agreed to let the system try to fix his DNA.
A high thready laugh slips from his lips.
And then he screams.

Motion blurring
During an instant replay, press C-Left to add a motion blur effect.
Reverse 360 Powerslide
Set the drift mode option to “RR64”. Begin a game and get to a sharp turn. Stop accelerating, turn the opposite direction from the turn, and accelerate again while still turning. If done correctly, your car will spin around during the powerslide. After you are turned around, control the car as if in a normal powerslide and re-align it with the track. This trick allows your car to get through winding turns without braking or losing speed.

Blinky
Do 99 laps in time trial infinity on any race. (I would recommend the 2nd to last race if you have it. ).
