richie’s home life isn’t necessarily BAD,  but it’s no walk in the park either. they have enough money, clothes, food - there's no physical abuse, very little screaming and shouting. BUT . neither of his parent’s understand him, nor do they try to anymore. he’s often brushed off as  foolish,  childish, and even  stupid  by his own father. his mother is an  ALCOHOLIC  too caught up in wishing she had a child,  a daughter she understood.  i cannot think of any time he would feel emotionally nurtured and loved, it’s just a constant feeling of dejection and neglect.  richie tries not to talk about them.
