the news of rhaenys and meleys' death, it shook something deep inside her. it felt as if only recently, the two saw eye to eye. only after her fathers death. after alicent had put her son on the throne, put a crown on his head, infront of the people. supported her, had her back among the council, a sounding board. it felt like she had someone to lean on. they had not found her body, and the red queens head was missing. but some others were taken the short distance to dragon stone. survivors. one, more interesting than most. she did not want to rule over ashes, that was true. there was however, more mercy in dying, than living through dragon fire. not felt it upon her own skin, but she had been close at times. the heat something else entirely than from a simple bonfire. walking down to the prison cells, two white cloaked guards following a few steps behind. turning the ring upon pointy finger while taking in the scene infront of her, the unmistakably scent of burnt flesh lingering in the air around them. a slow exhale as gaze slowly trail across the injuries, the burnmarks before finally landing upon the features of her previous guard.

kinda joked last week that rhaenyra saw baela as more expendable than her children, but this week rhaenyra with rhaena 😭 selfish?? egotistical?? short sighted ??? rhaena is the step daughter she most closely raised? but the way she words it, “it breaks my heart to send my boys away” what about rhaena 😭 she’s always felt on the outside/useless without a dragon and being sent away now clearly wounds her so bad; even as a child in pentos, she was worried about being sent away without a dragon </3 without a dragon she doesn’t have the (percieved) freedom baela does and is having motherhood forced on her in a way.

the way rhaenyra is so ready to place these burdens on her step-daughters as opposed to jace is rlly interesting to me,,, granted yeah he’s just as young and shouldn’t be burdened either, but yk it’s his claim too.
