RF1: Year 1 - Summer 5

After rescuing Cecilia from Clemens Cave, she shares that she read a really scary book about a cursed stone. She was so scared that she threw all her rocks away, or...did she give them to Felicity?

After confronting Felicity about it and taking the seemingly average round rock Cecilia had given her a year ago, she shares:

"My condition grew worse about a year ago, but Dr. Edward still can’t work out what the cause is. But I don’t intend to be confined to my bed forever, I’m going to get better and live a normal life."

Her determination and positivity are infectious. I admire her so much for pushing forward as much as she does!

(In my game, this happened on Summer 6 but technically, she would have started to recover on Summer 5) After showing the stone to Dr. Edward, he confirms that it was indeed a cursed stone and that's why none of his medicine had been working on Felicity.

I also find it ironic that Felicity's kindness is what ended up slowly draining her life.

I mean, look at this thing! It's the most average, boring rock anyone could have ever gifted her. Yet, she held onto it in a special place (she knew exactly where it was when we asked her about it) because she had received it as a gift.

Although, I do wonder how the round rock ended up in Kardia and why there is a book about it in the library.

At first, aligning with my "manipulated Godwin" theory, I thought that perhaps the round stone in the book had been planted to make Felicity sick. This would require a spy who knew the town well, perhaps someone like Edward, who is also in charge of the town's clinic. But it hurts my heart to accuse him of something so...evil! I also genuinely believe that Edward fled the Sechs Empire and has good intentions for Kardia.

Another idea is that the cursed stone could be a failed Melody witch project. This stems from my association of "curses" and "strange medicines" with Rune Factory witches. Having lost the stone because it looked so close to an average stone, she quietly slipped a book into the library warning people of its existence.

One thing's certain: the cursed stone book in the library feels extremely out of place because it's so much shorter than the others. That's what makes me believe it was written by someone in town rather than an official book bought for the library.

Anyways here are some Rivusa Valentine's Day headcanons that I've been planning on writing

They're first Valentines is in fucking s3

THEY ARE BUSY!!! Shit keeps hitting the fan and they really don't have time. Not to mention no one really wants to go off on their own in fear that they'll be targeted and picked off, especially after what happens to Tecna

Riven is bad at emotions and has literally only been in one relationship with someone who tricked him into said relationship and proceeded to try and murder magix. So he's not counting that one

Tbh he's mostly just watching Stella/Brandon and Flora's relationship and trying to figure it out from there

Musa is a massive romantic and would usually be super excited but right now she's busy crying her eyes out because she and her best friends keep nearly dying and it sucks a lot

If anyone remembers one of Riven's nicknames for Musa in my thing is Kola or Kola Bear and all versions of that because of the way she grabs on to his arms (see: s2 finale, she does that often in my version, she's a huge cuddler) so Riven buys her a little Kola plushie holding a rose for her 🐨🌹(under the watchful eye of Mirta, Lucy, and Nabu who are making sure he doesn't get attacked)

Musa absolutely loves this?? He has a special little nickname for her and gets a gift based on it??? She's cooing over the plushie for days afterwards but the plushie stays on her bed

Musa got him some candies she thought he'd like. Riven doesn't eat candy often bc I know RF so it's a good occasion to have a little sweet treat

Then they mostly hang out on Alfea grounds with the rest of the Winx and Winx Bonus members because no one wants to separated and just hang out

The next Valentines Riven gets Musa another Kola Bear plushie this time with a heart 🐨 and she immediately picks up on the fact she's getting one every year

Helia and Brandon encouraged him to do this because it would become a routine with them, a little routine, they're thing™, they were right because Musa fucking loves the idea. She's gonna have a plushie for every year she's so excited to start amassing them

This year is also severely awkward for them because of the mind control stabbing in SotLK and how Riven is half avoiding Musa out of extreme guilt, but getting this plushie helps Musa strengthen her resolve that Riven does care he's just coping with that terrible situation in the opposite way that she is

Next year and...... Nothing is happening. Life is normal. There's nothing here to kill them.... They can just actually go out and have fun without fear of being interrupted by the world ending what the fuck

They go out on a date, Musa gets her Kola Bear and Riven gets candies from Melody, and they have a VERY nice day

Musa has a little part of her room that has all the kola bears as an adult, it's cute and sweet!! She loves adding another to her collection

top 5 rune factory character designs :)

Hi anon THANK YOU FOR THIS QUESTION omg this is wonderful and I have so many opinions. I’ve played various amounts of the 5 main games but I’ve mostly played 1 & 4 so pls note that my opinions will probably be biased. Ok let’s go:

Runner-ups (forgive me, there are SO many good designs I had to include this section):

-I ADORE the butler outfits in rf4. They make so little sense practically, but they are so fun and communicate their design style so well. I also am obsessed with the color scheme.

- FORTE!! She nearly made it to this list but got bumped out my the other rf4 bachelorette designs here. I adore her armor and how it’s relatively practical as far as anime style armor goes (I’m looking at you, armor bikinis), I love the cohesive color palette, and I love all the details of the fabrics.

- literally just. All the rf1 bachelorette. They are so underrated and their shit is SO COOL. Melody?? Adorable. Mist?? Iconic. Lynette?? The eye patch?? The Heterochromia?? Serving. They are all fantastic.

- Karina. Her outfit is cute as hell, and feels pretty unique for rf while still being very much of the series’ style. I love that little bandanna, and as you’re gonna see in this list I’m a sucker for the silver/white/blue palette.

- Beatrice !! She nearly made it on here, but alas. I love her cool regal design, I love her color palette (blue/white anyone?) and I love the shape of her silhouette, but imo her design gets a bit muddled/overcrowded which takes her off the list.

Now for the main list! I’ll include pics at the bottom because I’m on mobile and it won’t let me insert them where I want (I’m at work, maybe I’ll fix this later lol.)

5. Sharon - RF1: my icon, my queen, my first girl, literally instrumental to my queer awakening when I was 10. I love her extremely limited color palette and simplistic design when compared to other RF designs. It makes her look so elegant and ethereal, which really communicates her vibes. I’m also obsessed with her jewelry, and which RF would use that more frequently as centerpieces of designs. She’s number 5 bc her design is a tiny bit TOO on the simple side, as much as I also love that about her. I would have loved if they had added just a bit more to her dress, like maybe some subtle lace so it’s not just long shapes of pure white.

4. Alicia - RF2: ok. Right off the bat let me say: yes, her design gets points deducted for the boobs. As a big-breasted woman myself, it always annoys me when I see impractical bra/bust designs with big old anime tiddies. As a queer woman though? I am looking respectfully. Onto the positive: the color palette is SO STRONG, with few colors but the colors they do have are bold and eye-catching. She arguably has the best silhouette of the entire list too, with the big defined shapes of her cape and hat contrasted with her wavy soft hair. I also love her bracelet dangles? She’s an icon.

3. Micah - RF3: he is the PARAGON of RF protagonist design to me. The fluff trim, the boots, the stripy fabrics, the spiky but soft-looking anime hair, the earth-gone palette… he is everything. I also am obsessed with his bare shoulders, those absolutely sell the design for me. Not to mention his wooly design. Mwah. Chef’s kiss. The only reason he’s at 3 is that his design is just a little muddled for me. Fixing up some of the trimmings and adding a tiny bit more cohesion to the color palette (like why black and orange pants??) would fix it for me.

2. Dolce - RF4: At number 2 is Dolce, ghost queen herself. I’m obsessed with her design. She was nearly number 1, but her color scheme and shape design is just a tiiiiny but less interesting to me than number 1. That being said i overall ADORE her red/pink centered palette, I love the overall dark but vibrant colors, and I love how solidly they stick to her design premise. I think the extra details on her dress and the use of jewelry on her, which are attention-catching enough to be so interesting and fun but not so much to totally be distracting.

1. Xiao Pai - RF4: Xiao Pai my BELOVED!!!! I don’t think her design gets nearly enough love. The color scheme is GORGEOUS and fun while still being so coherent, the shapes are a delight, and the details are perfectly balanced to keep her design interesting and unified! I also find her hair adorable, and I LOVE THAT SHE WEARS PANTS. I know that’s kind of silly but I just don’t think enough rf women get to wear pants and they just look SO cute on her. My favorite part of her outfit is either the shoulder pads(??) or the fluff waistcoat (??). Does her design make complete sense? No. But that’s what makes it rune factory, baby!!!!

You'd think Zavier, the "natural-born hunter or something" would prefer to take his baths in the rain. But hey, once in a blue moon is better than never!

I think it's cute that Melody knows her customers so well. But the "Holy Book" side quest is kind of redundant when you stop and think about it.

Why couldn't Melody just...go into the girl's bath for you? Or why can't you go into the girl's bath when the bathhouse is closed?

Maybe this is the game's way of hinting at the fact that the bathhouse is the place with the most varied schedule. Who will be there on what days depends largely on the weather! It's such a neat way to add variety to character's schedules in early games like this one.

I certainly wouldn't have paid attention to the bathhouse's schedule if Melody hadn't pointed it out in this scene!

Reflecting a bit more on the importance of her bathhouse, not only is Melody my most-used colour, but I think a lot of my blanket row dedications have taken place in her bathhouse. Huh, interesting!

Its super funny how i found ur art fight before this tumblr blog but omg, i adore all the work you put into making this space super cool! Rune Factory Frontier is like, one of my childhood core memories, like just watching my big bro play it and later also playing it myself! Im super happy that theres still people out there who enjoy it.

Also, am i the only one who just sat on whale islands starting area to listen to the soundtrack (same goes with the area in town where Iris sings her song, i forgot the places name but you can just hear her little melody while you stand there)

There's so much huge love for RF4 [and I understand] but the other games all have their cozy corners~ I've been inactive because of my job+commute+early year illness but that's activity alone, the love for RF never goes away. It's a hyperfixation I always go back to. I'll die on the hill of those early RF game vibes. And Frontier? Honestly? Peak RF aesthetic.
