Alana Schwartz
Hello everyone! Sorry I'm late. I'm super excited to see you all on Tuesday!
1. I made the move to Detroit in October, coming from my hometown of Concord, Massachusetts. Google says that’s 707 miles. That photo was at Niagara Falls, the most (or..only) exciting part of the MA to MI drive.
2. I studied Sustainable Development and Sociology, and am aiming for an M.Arch, eventually.
3. Getting to know Detroit, interning at MOCAD and for Christian (Practice Space advisor!) at M1/DTW, failing a physics class.
4. I’ve found the people here to be welcoming and inspiring, and the energy is refreshing.
5. How to work within a community to create something useful and positive.

R. Philip Lockwood
Hello friends,
I go by Phil normally, looking forward to some crazy experiences in Detroit. I need to take a picture of myself; the last one I could find I’m all short haired and deceptively proper, so hold your horses.
1.) Its 40.6 miles from Ann Arbor to Detroit. I’ll be making the trip frequently.
2.) I have a B.S in Architecture from U of M’s Taubman College of Architecture & Urban Planning.
3.) Plotting how to avoid getting a “real” job.
4.) Its been in my mind, vicinity and decay for a while now, I figure I should help. See question 3.
5.) Logistics and everything that falls between the conception and execution of an idea.

See you all soon.

2. I am a student at Hampshire College. I focus on social architecture and social entrepreneurship.
3. This summer I completed a cross-country bike tour and this fall I attended Columbia GSAPP.
4. The city and the program allow me to put architecture theory into practice and I am excited to become more familiar with the diverse community.
5. I would like to help create small sustainable businesses in Detroit and better understand how architecture and design can facilitate social interactions.
