“I don’t seem to remember ever owning a droid.” More of that highly specific certain point of view speech Kenobi was so good at. Not “I’ve never seen this droid before” but “I def don’t own this beeping bitch, I don’t think anybody can own him.” And he does kind of side-eye R2 when he says “let’s see who you are and where you came from.” Like “has this lil bastard had his memory erased? If he rats me out, he’s getting a laser circuit adjustment.”

Even though we know Lucas hadn’t written in fully that Luke and Leia were twins, or even that Anakin was their father at this point in the original drafts, it still plays like Kenobi has secrets and he is so done. He sees Leia’s hologram and just sits back like he knows it wasn’t a coincidence that Anakin’s son somehow purchased both of his parents droids and one contains a message from the boy’s long lost sister. At that point Padme could have risen from the grave and he wouldn’t have blinked.

Watching Star Wars in chronological order is so funny.

Obi-Wan Kenobi really took one look at R2D2 in the middle of the desert and said “No, Luke, I’ve never seen this fucking droid in my life. Looks like a real bitch though. Not that I’d know. This is my first time meeting the asshole.”

No one in that whole franchise was Gatekeep-Gasslight-Girlbossing quite like “Ben” Kenobi, regular human-man.

I think the original trilogy should have had a blooper of Darth Vader actually finding R2 with the plans and trying to get them from him like a dog with food it can't have.

Darth Vader, feared sith: R2 give me the rebel plans! Drop it!

R2d2, most feral droid to exist: NO! How dare you conquer the galaxy without me! You're uninvited from the droid upraising

i mean in fairness to anakin, he did bring artoo along for SOME of the world conquering!

day 5 - star wars

It's kind of funny yet sweet to imagine. Anakin's Force Ghost casually shows up and gives Luke the greatest wisdom of all:

Look after R2D2. He's one of a kind.

Artoo knowing everything is one of the greastest creative decisions Lucas made because it connects the PT very neatly with the OT.

How did Artoo know the place of Luke´s home? He has been there before.

How did he know Obi-Wan´s name and why he and old Ben saw each other so suspiciously? ObiWan is trying to order Artoo not to tell Luke anything about his Dad and Artoo isn´t having anything of it but he will let Luke discorver for himself what´s up.

Why was artoo so easy going inside the death star ? he is used to work on military stations just like that one.

Why he decided to take Yoda´s food? Because he knew exactly who this guy was and didn´t like him trying to hide himself from Luke?

Why is he so attached to Luke and Leia? They are his bro and his lady little kids, they are all he has left of them and he will protect them even if it destroys him. Same reason why he protects Threepio so much.

Artoo may not recognize or consider Vader Anakin but he will protect his kids in his memory, he got attached to Anakin and Padme since they were wee 14 and 9 years olds, he is way too invested in this family to let go of them now.

Artoo and Chewie are the war veterans of their group and it amuses them greatly to see the younger ones shenanigans, especially because they don´t realise how much more they know than them about everything.

Anakin´s force ghost said goodbye to artoo and nobody can take this from me :D
