Exploring the Multiverse: Deadpool and Wolverine in MCU | Action-Packed Comedy
Deadpool and Wolverine is exactly what you’d expect from a Deadpool film—chaotic, irreverent, and hilariously self-aware. But beneath the over-the-top violence and relentless humor, there’s an unexpected depth that gives this film more heart than its predecessors.
The movie brilliantly weaves elements from the Loki series into the broader Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), bringing Deadpool and…
Let's be honest, it felt rather inevitable that Deadpool and Wolverine would come together and it's everything you'd hoped it to be. Anyone worrying about the prospect of a Disney owned Deadpool generally needn't worry as this is every bit as R rated and edgy as the first two movies and likewise goes all out. Does it give the Marvel Cinematic Universe a much needed shot in the arm? Not really for me because it doesn't quite feel like an actual part of the MCU even though it casts aside most of the side characters from Deadpool 1 and 2. This film instead does what Spider-Man: No Way Home did in effectively using the Multiverse phase to do its own thing. Deadpool and Wolverine at the very least is a tribute and final send-off to the Fox era of comic book movies that started with 2000's X-Men.
This still has plenty of fourth wall breaking quips from Ryan Reynold's Deadpool that pokes fun at everything from Hugh Jackman's perfect send-off in Logan, the Disney/Fox merger to even the state of the MCU itself. It never feels like it's ever being held back and is very funny from start to finish and most, if not all, of that comes down to Ryan Reynolds who has unquestionable mastered this role to perfection. But this movie has an added edge thanks to the return of Jackman's Wolverine who likewise has mastered his iconic character over the two decades. Reynolds and Jackman have incredible chemistry together whether they're working together, trading insults or fighting each other. The plot is a bit by the numbers that utilises the multiverse concept for some very fun moments that I won't spoil here but it is those moments that you'll remember rather than the plot. A big shout out should be given to Matthew Macfadyen's hilarious, villainous performance as Mr. Paradox. It's all terrific fun.
VERDICT
Deadpool and Wolverine may not reinvent or save the MCU as such, but it is consistently funny, bloody and a terrific night out at the cinema. What more could you want?
Since i watched Deadpool & Wolverine i strongly believe that Moon Knight deserved to be R-rated as well. I mean i think that since MK came out, but after D&W i think he deserved the same.
DeadpoolAndWolverine (2024): Let's talk about the elephant in the room: the story is the weakest of all three, and while the stakes are high , they don't feel of any importance.
Now for the Best part: Where do I even begin? The opening credits sequence is the best in the MCU. This movie is the 'Multiverse of Madness' we deserved, a love letter to the Fox Universe delivered with a bang! It's hilarious from the start, filled with goosebumps and cheer-worthy moments. Yes, it's a sort of a cameo-fest, but of the best kind.
Lastly, let's talk about Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman. Their banter is too good, the action is insane and the fan service is on another level. Hats off to @ShawnLevyDirect for pulling it all off and making one of the best movies in the MCU! DO NOT MISS IT!
look i haven't seen deadpool and wolverine and won't for another month if i see it at all (i'm not paying for it) so this is all conjecture but i find the fact that its marketing has been heavily focused on implying that deadpool and wolverine are/will be in a relationship, which is like clearly not going to happen this is the mcu lmao, and the fact that it has been pushing this so hard for a character whose queerness has entirely been reduced to essentially making gay jokes for extra edginess points while refusing to ever engage with it more deeply (i admit i haven't seen the first two deadpool movies in several years but he is in a long running relationship with a woman and just like. makes jokes about finding colossus hot to my memory) than that, Not A Good Look, you could say. and like come on it's 2024 this is textbook queerbaiting and for a movie that seems to be pushing its supposed potential queer relationship in all of its marketing all of the jokes have always just felt vaguely homophobic to me. maybe the movie will make me feel differently but like. i highly doubt that
Can we talk about how hot she is being baddie? Jajsjjshd so precious
Imagine Agatha going home covered in blood and it will be the first time you see her like that. She's worried about what your reaction would be, since blood from cuts and wounds make you feel fuzzy. To her surprise, seeing her that way made you feel aroused. Maybe even asking her to choke you using the blunt edge of the knife she used
i think despite all the flaws of it’s first few films (and also. the many flaws of it’s actors lmao but that’s everything in hollywood) why the dceu compels me more atm is it’s embrace of the R rated via The Suicude Squad and Peacemaker- even when watching a pg13 entry, having the more violent aspects of the world it’s created in the back of your mind gives everything a little more Punch ya know
like in the mcu even if your TOLD people are killed en masse, you never feel shit bc like, you dont get to see it except in a bloodless, sanitized way
in the dceu, you’ve seen people’s head’s explode. death, painful death, is something you’ve seen can happen, so vague threats of violence by even wimpy villains feel like “oh man, fuck.”
