Her love was given to trees and to the flowers of the wild, and she was a singer and maker of songs
I haven’t been doing very well lately so I’ve just been doing some of my favorite board topics. I did Morwen last week so here is a Rían board. She’s one of my favorite characters to do boards for because the gratuitous nature imagery is based in canon
I know I’ve done an Aerin board more recently but I’ll probably do her next though as always please feel free to request

For @celebrimbor-apologist. Their fics about this trio (plus Elrond) have been giving me life the last few weeks and have inspired me to draw them. I am so attached to Camnir (and more recently Vorohil), even though it’s going against every single ounce of self preservation in my entire body.
This last episode doesn’t exist. They’re laughing, they’re happy. Everything is fine.
It’s fine.

Don’t know if anyone else has pointed this out, but 7 different women in Tolkien’s legendarium died of grief for the men they loved: Lúthien, Glóredhel, Rían, and Arwen explicitly, and Andreth, Nimrodel, and Théodwyn by implication.
Also, though she didn’t die, Melian abandoned Middle-earth when Doriath needed her most, out of grief for Thingol. And though it is not explicitly grief, Mithrellas abandoned her family as well.
Not sure if that’s romantic or sexist of good old Tolkien.
I’ve praised his well-written strong female characters, and I still do and always will … but I admit this particular aspect feels problematic.
Lúthien is an exception, of course, as she went to the Halls of Mandos with the intent of saving Beren, rather than actually giving up. (And she’s always a badass in everything she does, dead or alive.) Also Andreth was old anyway when Aegnor died, so her passing could’ve easily been the effects of old age worsened by grief.
But this isn’t the case for any of the other aforementioned women. They each give up on their entire lives because of the absence of one man. This wouldn’t feel so problematic if it also happened to male characters as a result of romantic love. But the only male character who died of grief is Brego, who was mourning his son, not a lover. Perhaps Daeron may have died from his pain over Lúthien, but this is never explicitly written.
Idk … does anyone else have thoughts about this?

The Blessing - A TRoP Fic
Characters: Gil-galad, Celebrimbor, Elrond, Camnir, Vorohil, Rían
Summary: After saving Celebrimbor's life and collapsing from exhaustion, Elrond finally wakes up. Spoilers up to 2x05.
A/N: This is the sequel to my previous fics The Rescue, The Arrival and The Vigil where Elrond, instead of going back to Lindon with his companions at the end of 2x04, continues on to Eregion and saves Celebrimbor - aka my little AU where nothing bad happens and everyone is fine (or at least getting there).
“I think he is waking up,” Celebrimbor says softly, leaning forward in his chair. He looks anxious, and after what he told him about the ride to Lindon, Gil-galad cannot fault him for it. From the sounds of it, Elrond only stopped to rest the horse and even then never rested himself, too afraid of losing Celebrimbor to Sauron’s pull after all to take any chances. And what a pull it had been. Just thinking about it makes Gil-galad shudder. “I need to be sure he has no hold on me anymore,” Celebrimbor begged him last night, after hours of talking. “Please. Make sure for both of our sakes.”

No spoilers, just a character appreciation post. But what a legend. This character, Rían, had one of the most metal scenes in the whole Rings of Power show.
Love her.
Episode 7 was jam-packed with amazing fightscenes, but this moment was one of my favorites.

My general thoughts on Morwen’s feelings about Rían leaving
Note: more context on my thoughts on their relationship here
She is angry. She feels abandoned and also resents herself for feeling this way.
She is relieved. Morwen hopes Rían is dead. The thought of Rían being taken captive is almost unbearable.
She is grieving both old and new parts of their relationships. Rían is only recently an age where they can have a relatively equal relationship I think. The fact that they do have such a strong age difference, and that more when was an a protector and carer for her for so long would always impact that and if she had survived, it would’ve impacted it forever I think, but for several years now can talk more as equals. They have more in common, now, at least, in the structures of their lives, even if not in their personalities.
Other thing I’m thinking about is I think there was occasionally jealousy in their relationship on both sides. Morwen is acutely aware that she’s viewed as prideful and severe and that Rían is easily beloved to others and more able to find joy and beauty in things (in part because of Morwen’s shelter I think). Rían on the other hand is aware of Morwen’s resilience, her stoicism, and her courage in ways Rían feels she doesn’t live up to.
Rían and Morwen’s relationship is a complicated one but also profoundly close. To each other, both represent everything they have lost from their childhood and all that they still have. Rían’s loss to Morwen is more than her presence; it is the loss of one of the only other speakers of her childhood language and dialects, of someone who held stories and songs and memories, however vague.

For @greyjedijaneite.
I know you wanted gifs, and I made stills, but hopefully it's fine, too.
