Hello friend! Are you really going to share that with other people?
Tumblr media
This was supposed to be a wholesome picture of Sun reminding me to have fun when drawing.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
There isn't much to say about the process other than the plan to just post the sketch turned into adding simple flat colors before finally turning into a more finished piece with dramatic lighting. I haven't tried lighting a scene like this before, so messing around with something I've been curious about was nice.
Uncertainty when it comes to drawing and sharing art is something I constantly struggle with. It's hard to not compare yourself to others when there is just so much fantastic stuff coming out of the community all the time! The sheer amount of support folks give to everyone participating in this space is amazing and makes the self-doubt feel silly and unnecessary, but sometimes you just get stuck in your head and all the good positive things can't break through. While the doubt will probably always be there, I hope that with some practice it will someday have less of an impact on my ability to create and I'll truly be able to enjoy the process in its entirety. Lots of folks are out there cheering for one another, I just need to stop, listen and recognize that I'm also being included in that.

wot 2x4: daughter of the night
A couple more thoughts to add this morning. A minor spoiler for A Crown of Swords.
First, an ad of sorts, lol -- if you liked Rand being tied up for sex but you wish it hadn't been with Lanfear, I do have a 90k Cauthor fic that features Mat tying Rand up for sex and generally follows a "what if we did a show-verse version of The Great Hunt but with Cauthor" (stars fading). Written before we got any teasers that Rand would be involved in bondage scenes, so I am feeling very prophetic! (I mean, he just kinda has 'tie me up' energy even in s1 imo)
I am 100% planning on writing a little sequel to my Rand/'Selene' fic that is set during 2x4 (pre-reveal).
Seeing the saa in Lanfear's eyes at the end was an 'oh shit' moment; can't believe I forgot to mention it. I like the change they've made to have the Great Lord actually keeping his promise (at least to the Chosen themselves) about life everlasting.
Also! She was gonna tell him who she was! That's what this whole set up was about! "Oh, I still loved you after you revealed your big scary secret so you owe me still loving me" (but tying him up first in the likelihood of him freaking out) (kinda a shame because he was INTO being tied up but now she might have traumatized him out of it)

DOCTOR: What sort of virus? AWSOK: You.
In traditional ontology, from Aristotle to (almost) Heidegger, a being is a presence identical to itself. A virus doesn't have any positive existence. For Alexander Galloway and Eugene Thacker, if modern ontology thinks of the 'self' as an individual and identity, viral ontology, replicative and cryptographic, defines the 'viral self' on the one hand as a 'becoming-many' and on the other as intrinsically mutant and thus, negation of identity, 'never-being-the-same'. Because of its precarious and borderline condition, the virus resembles other historical 'entities' who have not been accorded a complete ontological existence or who have been perceived as lesser, parasites, or harmful, or considered as simple copies of other supposedly original forms of life: the woman, the witch, the homosexual, the transvestite, the transsexual, racialised bodies, the migrant, the exiled, the disabled, the stranger... All have historically been considered as political viruses, social or sexual parasites who threatened the integrity of the sovereign masculine white heterosexual national body. Is it possible that, like for the virus, a politics of becoming, a mutant politics of never-being-the-same might be more interesting for these historical figures than a politics of identity?

sapkowski’s continued (earlier) opinions on his preferred cast of kevin costner as geralt, from his column in nowa fantastyka in 1996 and a separate article in cinema from 1998
i knew his ideal cast was kevin costner, but i didn’t know he wanted him from a specific movie—robin hood—and ‘especially in that scarf,’ apparently!

Did some fucking masterful salesmanship towards the end of my shift that netted the company a big ten-ish quid. All in a day's work.
#basically someone came in looking for a zip for a cropped corset top that her daughter bought#which she had worn once and the zip it came with immediately broke#but my colleague said that we don't sell separating zips that short#and in fact no one does except this one guy in the city centre who makes zips himself#so the customer was very disappointed that she now had to trek all the way into the city#and I said 'what I would do is take the zip out and put in some ribbon in an appropriate colour and sew on some hooks and eyes'#which we have in abundance#so I found her a ribbon that was a good colour match (the top was an olive green satin fabric)#and a packet of silver hooks and eyes and some green embroidery floss#heroically saving her from taking the train into town#and getting the sale for us and not yer man in the city centre#my colleague and the customer were suitably awed by this quick thinking and creative problem solving#and both agreed that hooks and eyes would look much nicer than a horrible old zip#I am going to get a good grade in retail: a thing that is normal to want and possible to achieve#honestly though they are so fucking lucky to have me at [workplace]#I give great customer service and I am very knowledgable in craft-related areas#and the curtain stuff is coming to me!#it's not rocket surgery#I ordered a blind today all by myself using the manufactorer's online portal#although I did get the manager to double check everything before I converted it to an order and booked it in#so that if I had made any mistakes that she had cosigned them lol#but yeah I am such a good little cog in the capitalist machine#of Big Ribbon™#werq bitch

there’s a specific time travel trope that I hate, but I always forget that I hate it because I don’t read that much time travel where that trope happens, so then I read it and I get to the end and I remember I hate it. anyway that’s why you’ll never see me use “we have changed the past and it has changed the present/future” in my time travel stories. (the characters themselves obviously don’t know that I hate this and won’t use it, so they’ll always consider it as a factor because it’s the one every knows.)

Not books Ive specifically read, but a handful that are currently popular:
- From Blood and Ash: Poppy is 18, Casteel is 200+
- ACOTAR: Feyre is 19, Tamlin+Rhys are 500+
- The Never King series: the first books entire plot revolved around girls being kidnapped by Fey creatures on their 18th birthday to be ‘broken’
- Storm of chaos and shadow: Couldn’t pin a specific age, but considering one of the reviews called it a character’s “coming of age” I’m going to guess 18-20. Again, with a fae.
- Embers in the Snow: Not specified beyond Finley taking classes to be a ‘suitable bride’ and being of ‘child bearing age’. So range if we’re being generous is 18-21 considering the generic middle age fantasy backdrop.
not to be problematic but i literally do not give a shit about age gaps when dating vampires. they thirst for your blood. "but it's predatory!!!!" yeah. it is. "they're preying on you!!!" they're vampires. they do that. "it's a power imbalance!!!!!!" what part of vampires are you not getting
