just watched Queen Rock Montreal in Imax and loved every second of it. Dragon Attack and Under Pressure give me life. Gotta love Freddie's slow mo shedding of the layers through the concert. John is a monochromatic enigma. Roger is the Animal from the Muppets in the flesh. Our theater roared when "I'm in Love with my Car" came on. And Brian inspired some spirited debate about guitar craft post credits...
aaaaaaaah, life is good.

They gave Roger some enrichment time on the timpanis so they could get him to sleep after the concert ❤️

I want to find whoever’s idea it was to put Rock Montreal on Disney+ looking like it was filmed yesterday with my own two eyeballs and kiss them on the mouth

I have been a fan for years at this point, (my whole life pretty much) and I don't think I've ever been as mesmerized by something such as Queen in Montreal in 1981
Queen, Rock Montreal on Disney Plus

Queen Rock Montreal: after seeing so many Queen clips on the world’s smallest phone screen, amazing to see them SO BIG and so clear. Also the sound! It really brought out the role the drums play in the music because that depth often gets lost on mobile devices. Such a cohesive sound from all four of them, and such a well-designed show to give each of them a chance to shine but also to blend perfectly. Brian’s guitar moments where he got to create pure soundscapes were also a highlight for me. Plus whatever that top was he was wearing in the encore.
Also amazing how ridiculously photogenic Roger is. The camera just loves him. And those blue eyes suddenly catching the light.
I would love to see it again like that. Four intelligent and innately musical people putting all their minds and talent and souls into making music together. Outstanding. When it was first made, the band thought the film was a bit too focused on Freddie but I think it showed how cohesive they were and how it was the four of them. He is an outstanding front man and he brings the lyric and melody to the group but it’s the combination that is so magical. So many moments where he and Brian are feeding off each other or they’re all round Roger being driven by his beat. And Freddie and Roger sharing vocals. And John not intimidated or in the background, just not interested in grabbing the limelight.
There are plenty of moments where they’re all looking at each other and you can see how much they’re responding to one another, but some of my favourite parts were when Freddie is at the piano with his back to everyone, Roger at the drums with his eyes shut, and the other two spread out across the stage, but they are perfectly in sync and in harmony. That’s the result of years of practice together and of being in a band with your musical soulmates. Beautiful. Magical. Sublime.

I'm extremely happy to finally see this last night.
This concert should be on the same level of fame as Live Aid,in my opinion.
Freddie,John,Brian, and Roger were incredible during this concert!

if you haven't seen Queen Rock Montreal in IMAX yet, go see it tomorrow while you still have the chance. It's absolutely worth it for the insanely great sound and the remastered resolution makes it so much better.
Most of us here never got a chance to see the og lineup live, and believe me this is as close as we'll ever get.

Queen Rock Montreal at IMAX? Queen Rock Montreal at IMAX!! Some assorted thoughts:
Some parts were definitely 'yes, this was recorded in 1981', but most, damn, held up very well.
Their energy was I n s a n e. Freddie's sheer charisma and ability to hold an audience more than thirty years after his death is just... yeah, he's a legend. Also Roger was going all out, I'm legit surprised he didn't snap a drumstick.
Loved the staging! There were a couple of moments where they went nuts with solos (including Roger doing a surprisingly melodic solo on timpani) and lighting and just... goddamn cool as hell.
Love Deacy just looking at everyone else in black and white with a few pops of primary colours and going. Actually. I'm going head to toe blue.
Relatedly, Brian May I am coming for your wardrobe.
The Red Special is one of the most distinctive-sounding guitars on the planet, isn't it?
Very amused at how Freddie ended up wearing less and less as the concert went on. Starts with white jeans, Superman tank top, leather jacket, wristband, sneakers. Two songs later, jacket is gone. Two songs after that, tank top is gone. Eventually ends up in white booty shorts, white cap, red scarf, and red wristband. Then the cap goes. Then the scarf goes... Was starting to get concerned for the kids in the audience!
Listen I am asexual and primarily aesthetically attracted to feminine and androgynous people but turns out even I am Not Immune To Freddie Mercury. I can only assume anyone there actually attracted to masc people walked out pregnant. That is charisma.
One minor sour point, would have loved the audience to have got more into it. Sing along! Clap! This is the closest thing we have to seeing Queen at their height! Live a little!
In conclusion, Freddie's legs (see: booty shorts) have given me gender envy.
