Best holy water fonts ever! These 17th century marble sculptures are inside the main entrance to Chiesa di San Giuseppe dei Teatini in Palermo, Sicily. They are the work of Ignazio Marabitti and his pupil Filippo Siracusa. Each one measures about 6 feet (1.8 meters) high.

Kezdjük a legfontosabbal:

Palermoba repülve érkezik az ember, a Punta Raisi (újabb nevén Falcone e Borsellino reptérre, ők államügyészek voltak, akiket kivégzett a mafia '92-ben).

A városba három módja van bejutni, vonat vagy busz, kb 1 óra, kb 6€ mindkettő, vagy iránytaxi, 8€. A buszterminál az épületből kilépve jobbra van, a vonat lenn, a föld alatt. Félóránként járnak. Mind a főpályaudvarhoz érkezik (Palermo centrale). A pályaudvarról kilépve egyenesen a via Roma nyílik, hosszú, zajos, forgalmas út (elején a Lidl, három nagy pálma előtte),

attól pár száz méterre balra vele kb párhuzamosan a via Maqueda, a helyiek Corsonak mondják, elméletileg gyalogos. Az elméletileg azt jelenti, hogy itt az egyirányú utca ismérve az, hogy kevesebben jönnek szembe. A kettő közt terül el a történelmi központ (Centro Storico di Palermo), tekergős, szűk sikátorok szövevénye. A legismertebb látnivalók a Corsoról érhetők el, a négyszökőkutas térről (Piazza quattro canti) balra fel a Porta Nuova felé az arab-normann katedrális (Cattedrale),

a Corson tovább a Teatro Massimo. Bármerre jár az ember, szinte minden utcában eléáll egy fantasztikus palazzo a kora középkorból vagy reneszánszból, egy Santa Maria della valami templom, leültem egy lépcsőre, és kiderült, hogy egy 12. században épült rózsaablakos erődtemplom lépcsőjén ülök. Van aztán a Kapucinusok katakombái, ahol rég meghalt szerzetesek vannak mumifikált állapotban, nekem kicsit extrém. Strandja nincs a városnak, az északra fekvő Mondellohoz ki lehet jutni városi busszal. Vasárnaponként (domenica) kirakodóvásár van a Corso feletti piac folytatásaként 100ezer négyzetkilométeren. Ahogy régebben, egy Schenker-gyűjtő rakománynál mondtuk, minden van ott, jézuskától géppuskáig.

Arancine - töltött rizsgolyó, sokféle, legkedveltebb a ragus, sajtos, spenótos, sonkás-mozzarellás, pisztáciás, és még ezerféle. A rizsgolyó közepébe gyúrják a tölteléket, aztán az egészet panírba forgatva olajban kisütik. Jó esetben öklömnyi méretű, 1-5€. Pane con milza - lépes szendvics, borjúbelsőség, jellemzően lép, esetleg tüdő, csíkokra vagdalva, faszénen sütve. Stigghiola - nyárson, parázson sült báránybél, ahány, annyiféle fűszerezésű, kis máj is lehet benne. Panelle e crocche - mentás krumplikrokett és csicseriborsó faszénen, zsemlefélébe (panini, ciabattini stb). Cannolo - ropogós tésztacsövek, amelyekbe ricotta alapú krémeket töltenek, csokis, pisztáciás, mogyorókrémes meg még százféle, nem feltétlenül tömény édes. Paninik, szendvicsek elképzelhetetlenül széles, helyben frissen készült választéka.

Ezek a palermoi specialitások, de természetesen ezeken kívül minden olasz kaja van, pizza, pasta, lasagne, ravioli, tortellini stb. Enni sokfelé lehet, ajánlom a piacokat, az egyik a Corso elején a boltíves kapu után kezdődik, a másik a Teatro Massimo felett 200 méterre a Mercato del Capo. Minden IS van, csak rámutatsz egy körbetekert salsicciara, egy szelet vörös tonhalra, egy befűszerezett padlizsánra, egy tetszetős halra, egy megnyerő polipkára, és már dobják is rá a parázsra. Helyi ital valami ánizsos cucc, nem ugrik be a neve, kávéba is öntik, sajnos a szagától is elfutnék. Sör, bor, Aperol mindenhol van. Cafe, cafe macchiato 1-1,20€, cappuccino 1,80-2€.

Azt már ugye, hozzá sem kell tennem, hogy: "itt is csak házak vannak, meg emberek".

What I ate today: day 4

Wasn’t that hungry today because I ate so much yesterday…

Iced Caramel Macchiato- I was told by a Sicilian lady today that: “Italians are known to be crabby when it comes to coffee but in Sicily we really don’t care how you drink it. Just as long as you like it” so far this has been true they really don’t seem to give a shit. This guy was teasing me yesterday at the cafe when I asked for an Americano he kept just putting tiny drops of water in it and then grinning at me. So I kept having to say “little more please”. And he would say “oh okay more!” and put another tiny drip in. Anyway it was good. 6/10 (needs oat milk)

Proper Margherita pizza- no idea what it was actually called. I felt terrible because they brought me the wrong pizza first. Wouldn’t have said anything but Im not doing meat today and the one they brought me had meat on it. Apparently they just brought me the wrong pizza it was supposed to be for someone else. Whoopsie 🙃. 7/10

Cannoli - went back to the build your own cannoli bar because those kids know what there’re doing there. I got a chocolate dipped shell, almond cream and pistachio topping. It was better than last nights 2000000/10.

If you’re ever in Palermo try this place. You go right at Quattro Canti if you’re coming im from the main road ita just called ‘cannoli’ don’t bother with the church one the nuns don’t work there anymore and the line is so long. Pay out is not worth the time waited. If I lived here I would be there every day.

The Praetorian Fountain (Italian: Fontana Pretoria) is a monumental fountain located in Piazza Pretoria in the historic center of Palermo, region of Sicily, Italy. The fountain dominates the piazza on the west flank of the church of Santa Caterina, and is one block south of the intersection of the Quattro Canti. The fountain was originally built in 1544 in Florence by Francesco Camilliani, but was sold, transferred, and reassembled in Palermo in 1574.

Chiesa di San Giuseppe dei Teatini - Palermo, Sicily

This magnificent Sicilian Baroque church is often overlooked by tourists despite being located right in the heart of the historic center, on the southwest corner of Quattro Canti. It was designed by the Neapolitan architect Pietro Caracciolo, assisted by Giacomo Besio. The building was constructed between 1612 and 1645. The extravagant interior decoration took an additional thirty-two years.

意大利西西里岛帕勒莫的四首歌广场，Quattro Canti 。直译其实是四角落广场，不知是谁那么有才，译成四首歌。第一天从车站去民宿路过这里就很震撼，十字路口四角四座一模一样有喷泉的建筑，仔细看上面的人物喷泉又各有不同。之后无论去什么地方几乎都会路过这里，每次都转着圈给每座建筑拍照，每次都看不够。

After breakfast on the rooftop terrace, we walked (with a slight detour toward the Marina area) to the grand opera house Teatro Massimo and checked out the exterior. Had beer in the square and then walked along the pedestrian-only street Via Maqueda. Got some Arancini (fried rice balls with various fillings, a local specialty), and ate them in the Quattro Canti, the Four Corners intersection of Via Maqueda and Via Vittoria Emanuele. This landmark had wonderful sculptures on each corner, of Spanish kings, patron saints and women representing the four seasons. Sunlight illuminates the different corners at different times of the day- magical! After resting in our room for a bit, we had a great meal at a tiny restaurant near the Quattro Canti. A big day!

due parole riguardo oristano

A Oristano c’eravamo tutti, la mobilitazione simbolica di un'isola intera.

Se si pensa a quanto sta avvenendo in Sardegna riguardo alla questione energie rinnovabili, probabilmente l’episodio clou è Oristano, si intende quanto è avvenuto al porto di Santa Giusta. Da lì è partito tutto, lì è convogliato quel sentimento di rivolta che da tanti, tantissimi anni stava bollendo nei remoti anfratti di questa terra, portato avanti fino ad allora principalmente da una minoranza. Si può dire che da quella notte niente è stato più lo stesso, perché si è iniziato a parlare a livelli molto più estesi di quello che è un problema presente per l'appunto in realtà da molti anni.

Le abbiamo presenti tutt*, quelle immagini, bastava aver acceso la televisione, o il telefono, durante quei giorni. Il buio della sera, una resistenza infrangibile, solo all’apparenza debole, e poi quei mostri di acciaio, alti un’infinità di metri, tanto da superare del triplo, quadruplo, quintuplo e anche più un uomo, trasportati su camion che non accennano a rallentare, e le persone che si impuntano, li bloccano, con una determinazione che non può che essere propria di un popolo come quello sardo, che da decenni sopporta a stento soprusi di ogni genere. E infatti non poteva mancare anche questa occasione la polizia, che di soprusi possiamo dire che se ne intende, rappresentante dello stato italiano che in tenuta antisommossa giunge al porto anch’esso, pronto a zittire le voci, perché, beh, altro non sa fare: si scontra coi manifestanti, è duro, usa il “pugno di ferro”, come si usa dire. Ma quelle persone non mollano, non sembrano arrendersi, e con forza ripetono le loro ragioni. La terra sarda non si svende a nessuno, punto e stop. Sventolano alti nel cielo, i quattro mori, simbolo di una terra che è stata silenziata ma mai spenta; risuonano forti le note dei canti popolari, mai tanto alte quanto le voci di un popolo che è ormai stanco, e che non ha più intenzione di stare zitto davanti alle tante forme di oppressione portate avanti in ogni forma e ogni tempo contro quest'isola.
