 Delightful delicious tasty sounding recipes beautifully illustrated with gorgeous photographs to showcase this vegan cookbook filled with recipes I wouldn’t mind trying.

 What I liked:

* The introduction to the cookbook and the author

* The way the recipes are set up and that they seem easy to follow

* That most ingredients are easy to find in most countries – though not currently here in Lebanon

* That there are basics like how to make plant milks and other stapes

* The breakdown of the chapters

* The variety and creativity of the recipes

* That the recipes appear to be ones that children and adults would like

* That there were several recipes I would like to try making

 What I didn’t like:

* That there is no nutritional information with the recipes

* That not every ingredient is available where I live (small village in Lebanon)

Diddy, P-diddy ou Puff daddy é um produtor MUITO famoso, vocês com certeza já ouviram alguma música com o nome dele ou produzida por ele. Algumas são:

Umbrella da rihanna, Crazy in love da beyonce, Tiktok da kesha que tem aquele trecho "wake up in the morning felling like P-DIDDY"

Enfim o cara é ENORME, porém na última segunda-feira (16), ele acusado de tráfico sexual, extorsão, sequestro, trabalho forçado, suborno e outros crimes.

Então agora bora entrar em mais detalhes sobre esse homem ridículo e todas as teorias e fatos em torno dele.

Cassie Ventura

Essa mulher era nada mais nada menos do que a ESPOSA do diddy, eles se conheceram ali por volta dos anos 2000 e desde então tiveram o relacionamento MAIS TÓXICO POSSÍVEL, inclusive quando ela tentou terminar com ele, ele trancou ela dentro de casa.

No começo, ela era taxada de maluca por "falta de provas" mas foi vazado um certo vídeo em um corredor de hotel onde ela a cassie estava tentando fugir do diddy, mas ele simplesmente ESPANCOU ELA e depois saiu arrastando ela para dentro do quarto.

Ela também contou que ele obrigava ela a transar com prostitutos para ele ficar lá vendo, e com ctz deve ter tido mais abusos.

Mas essa diva não iria ficar calada meus amores, ela foi uma das principais chaves para a queda do seu ex-marido. Depois que esse vídeo foi vazado, o diddy postou um pedido de desculpas, MAS oque ele não esperava é que várias pessoas ganhariam coragem e iriam expor os crimes dele!! Por isso a cassie foi importante, ela encorajou as vítimas a falarem sobre os abusos.

As festas do diddy

Diddy também era conhecido por dar festas  conhecidas como "freak offs", festas organizadas com perfomances sexuais orquestradas.

Diversos famosos como Lebron James, Travis Scott, The Wekeend, as Kardashians e etc frequentavam essas festas ou eram convidados para elas. O próprio Lebron James e Chloe Kardashian já disseram que "não há festa melhor do que as do diddy".

E o pior, o diddy gravava oque acontecia dentro dessas festas para usar como chantagem, ou seja, se alguém abrisse a boca ele ia lá e vazava os vídeos, ou pior, mandava matar a pessoa.

(Uma informação importante é que quando a polícia foi investigar a casa dele, foi encontrado mais de MIL óleos para bebê, que eram usados como lubrificante)

E falando em mortes, vou falar de algumas que supostamente ele está envolvido.

Tupac e The Notorious BIG

Os dois eram cantores de rap muito famosos nos anos 90, e adivinhem? Os dois morreram!

Eu não vou me aprofundar no caso deles, mas tem um vídeo no youtube do canal "naty e isa" que elas contam mais detalhadamente sobre.

Basicamente, os dois foram baleados por uma gangue, e inclusive o atirador já está preso. Mas é ai que entra o diddy, o atirador afirmou que ele pagou MILHÕES de dólares para a gangue matar o 2pac.

Michael Jackson

O michael eu creio que nem preciso introduzir para vcs, ele é simplesmente MICHAEL JACKSON!

Acontece que o nosso rei do pop fez um discurso muito polêmico, vou deixar aqui para vcs darem uma olhada:

Ele também vivia dizendo sobre estar sendo perseguido, de não quererem mais ele vivo e etc. Também existe uma suposta gravação da última chamada dele, vou deixar o link aqui para vcs assistirem caso se interessem.

Left eye

Lisa Nicole Lopes, mais conhecida como "Left Eye" fazia parte de um girl group chamado TLC que bombou nos anos 90.

Lá pro início dos anos 2000, ela foi fazer algum tipo de retiro espiritual que inclusive, foi TODO registrado em vídeo.

Enfim, o mais bizarro é que a left eye vivia dizendo que um espírito estava atrás dela, que queria mata-lá e etc.

Até que um dia, ela tava dirigindo o seu carro junto da sua equipe para ir em outra cidade buscar suprimentos, quando sem querer (ou não) uma criança foi atropelada, e o sobrenome desse menino era "Lopes" que por coincidência (ou nãokkkk) tinha o mesmo sobrenome dela.

Depois desse acontecimento, ela vivia dizendo que foi o espírito, que ele matou o garoto por engano e que era para ter sido ela no lugar dele.

Dito e feito, ela morreu alguns dias depois em um acidente de carro. Ela foi tentar desviar de alguma coisa ali no meio da estrada e acabou batendo.

Lembram que eu disse que era tudo registrado em vídeo? Pois bem, aqui tá o vídeo do momento que ela morreu, e fiquem tranquilos pq não aparece sangue nem nada do tipo, mas ainda sim é um vídeo perturbador.

Aaliayah

Ela era uma cantora MUITO famosa, gente vcs não tem noção, a mulher era O MOMENTO!

Antes de falar sobre a morte dela, tem uma pessoinha muito importante que também está envolvida, e o nome desse bicho é R.kelly.

Ele também é um produtor musical extremamente famoso e que era bemmm amiguinho do diddy. Oque acontece é que ele era APAIXONADO pela aaliyah, e queria se casar com ela. E não demorou muito para eles realmente se casarem. O estranho é que a aaliyah tinha entre 14/15 anos, enquanto ele tinha mais de 30. "Mas então como eles conseguiram se casar?" Simples, ele forjou os documentos dela e modificou a idade dela para 18 anos! Obviamente a família foi contra, mas não teve jeito.

Ok agora que já expliquei isso, vamos para a morte dela que envolve diversas conspirações.

A nossa diva iria gravar um clipe na ilha de barbados, e para isso ela precisava de um avião não é mesmo? Mas acabou dando algum rolo e não conseguiram um avião, e ai arrumaram um de última hora.

Até ai ok, mas acontece que a aaliyah não queria entrar naquele avião de jeito nenhum, ela era muito paranoica com segurança de voo e não estava confiante em embarcar, mas as vontades dela infelizmente não foram ouvidas e obrigaram ela a entrar no avião. Simplesmente doparam a menina, botaram ela lá dentro a força e adivinhem? O avião misteriosamente caiu!

(Existe uma teoria de que a beyonce mandou matar ela, mas não me aprofundei muito nisso)

E falando em ilha de barbados, existe uma diva pop muito conhecida que veio de lá. Isso mesmo gente, A RIHANNAAA!! Então bora lá entrar no tópico dela.

O jeito estranho que a Rihanna foi descoberta

Que nem o michael jackson, creio que não preciso apresentar a rihanna para vcs né? Enfim, acontece que a forma como a diva pop foi colocada na indústria é bizarra.

Lembrando que isso é uma teoria ok? Não tem nada confirmado.

A rihanna veio da ilha de barbados, e resumidamente o querido jay-z descobriu ela e ficou encantando com a garota, então resolveu colocar ela dentro do seu jato e levá-la para os EUA. Detalhe, ela foi nesse jato SEM OS PAIS DELA, ou seja, ficou sozinha com o jay-z e sabe se lá mais quem. Chegando nos EUA, se eu não me engano trancaram ela em uma sala e disseram "vc não vai sair daqui até assinar esse contrato" ela assinou o contrato as 3h da manhã!

Eu boto minha mão no fogo pra dizer que os próximos a cair são esse casal!

Primeiro o R.Kelly, agora o Diddy, o próximo com certeza é o jay-z, e junto com ele vai a Beyonce.

Inclusive, eles se conheceram quando ela era super novinha, o que é bem estranho. Existe uma gravação que a própria diz "Você (se referindo ao jay-z) me fez uma mulher de verdade".

Como eu disse antes, existe uma teoria de que ela mandou matar a aaliyah pra tirar ela da jogada, entenderam? Mas isso é teoria!

Bom, os fãs da beyonce dizem que ela é vítima e foi obrigada a não falar nada, outros dizem que ela tem dedo nisso sim, e etc. Mas enfim? Oq vcs acham?

Ela é uma modelo super conhecida, que supostamente tbm tem envolvimento nisso tudo.

Ela era bem amiga do diddy e do jeffrey epstein, ou seja, ela frequentava as festas deles!

Não é novidade que o justin começou sua carreira muito novinho, e como ele era considerado muito lindo, obviamente os abusos iam vir!

Ele já foi assediado diversas vezes por mulheres mais velhas e inclusive já teve nude vazado, tudo isso ainda sendo de menor.

Enfim, a questão é que em 2009 ele passou 48h na casa do diddy, sem supervisão! Existe apenas uma gravação em que ele tá conversando com o diddy, vou deixar ela aqui para vcs verem:

Essa querida namorou o diddy por um tempo e ele foi fundamental no começo da carreira dela como cantora.

E agora com toda essa treta envolvendo o ex dela, estão dizendo que ela vai quebrar o silêncio e contar uma situação bem pesada que ela sofreu na mão desse homem.

Em 1999, ela e o diddy foram presos por conta de um tiroteio que ele estava envolvido. Mas ela se provou inocente e dps de 14h foi liberada. Porém o diddy, o seu guarda costas e outro rapper foram todos acusados do tiroteio.

Misteriosamente, o diddy e o seu guarda costas foram absolvidos enquanto o outro rapper que estava junto pegou nove anos de cadeia.

Massss, porém, contudo, todavia, entretanto, o daily mail afirma que quem levou a arma para o diddy foi a jennifer lopez, e que ela teria testemunhado ele atirando na pessoa e que optou por ficar em silêncio.

Here we go! I have some smaller books to share as well, but I've been absolutely VIBRATING with excitement to share a BIG one, and I'm going to indulge myself and post that today, then figure out words for the rest. Because I bound a new cnovel. Check it out, guys, I bound jwqs/clear and muddy loss of love :D

Let me indulge myself and backtrack a little! First, these are quarto books, so they're short. But I think these average a little under 500 pages each, and jwqs is a LONG book (my beloved), and this adds up to a total eleven inches of lesbians. More like twelve once they're in their cases. It's over a million characters in Chinese and I think the English translation comes in somewhere around 890k, it's HUGE

Making these books was SO FUN, I hadn't read jwqs and still haven't, and will probably read on my phone when I do. I don't have any exciting photos of the typesetting, but I knew this was an imperial succession story, and that made me nervous, those stories don't always click for me. Well, the process of typesetting and adding footnotes for this beast definitely confirmed that I'm going to have a good time with this thing when I have the time to read it, but there was also so much going on that only the vaguest of spoilers sank in. I went into an absolute FRENZY of typesetting, and after I printed, cut and folded it, well. That was one afternoon of sewing. You're looking at the reason I'm scrambling to make up a few hours of missed work, hahaha

After that, I needed cases. At the very beginning of march, I received a shipment of some FASCINATING bookcloth. It's called Duo, and it's made by layering a thin gauzy fabric of one color over paper of a different color. Depending on the combos, you get a really cool range of color-shifting effects. And they've gone out of production! But I was part of a group order to get some of the goods, and hadn't yet finished a new project. Reader, I went for it.

That purple and green is bananas!!!! It's so hard to photograph, this midnight picture of a few cases is one of my most successful attempts to capture the full range up close. Originally I'd been thinking of trying to evoke imperial gold, but I figured this was still the kind of drama and luxury suited the book, and also something something the hidden colors suited Qi Yan's character. I tied it back a little to the imperial gold with the endpapers, then titled them in silver foil, since the endpapers had silver in them.

But once the books were made, I felt like it wanted something... more. Something like a BOX!

And me, I chase novelty. A set this large would be tricky for anything clamshell, but a slipcase for all seven would leave books tipping all over if it was wide open, but putting walls between slots would be demanding in terms of precision and would risk similarly-sized books getting stuck in the wrong slots. Then I remembered learning about slipcases where you could put in a little insert to support the weight of the text block, and the concept SNAPPED into place.

Colors aren't going to photograph well at midnight, but I made the supports using the scraps and off-cuts from my endpapers, to tie it back into the bindings. The back of the case is lined in more of the duo, and the walls are lined with a faux leather bookcloth I like a lot, it feels buttery smooth and seemed like a good neutral material to tie the papers and bookcloth together. I listened to some of the DEEPEST layers from the nine-hour conspiracy theory iceberg video while I was working on this, haha, it was a TRIP.

And in the end, each of the supports is sized to comfortably sit in the smallest of the volumes, and evenly spaced, so I believe it will take the books in any order with no problems. It's easy to grab the books without having to cut notches into the walls to grab them from. And even though weight is less of an issue for quarto sizing, the books in here have their weight supported no matter what angle the box is at! I'm so, so pleased with how this concept worked out and definitely plan to do more with it in the future.

So there we are! Jing Wei Qing Shang! I had such a fabulous time with this project, and I'm so excited to get to share it with all of you. The story was fun to work with, the bindings and box were fun to make, and everything here came together just as well as I could possibly have hoped. I'm so proud of this, and incredibly, incredibly excited to show it to you!

So it's been a while since i posted any books - mostly because i've been hiding my progress like a little sneak.

I just finished this bind last night of The Desert Storm by @blue-sunshine-mauve-morning, or really it's volume 1 out of like ??? 15, maybe. Please take whatever i say with a pinch of salt (I have had 0 sleep for more than 24 hours, and that tends to make me a little very sleep-deprivation drunk a.k.a. unhinged). Okay, on to thoughts! The Desert Storm was foisted onto me by @celestial-sphere-press who told me under no uncertain terms that I WOULD FUCKING LOVE THIS SHIT. Well, I did. This more than 1 million word epic about Ben Fuckin' Kenobi is pretty much god-tier fanfiction. It reads like a goddamn novel. I can never think of canon again without thinking that this good shit should be canon. I read it and then consumed half of it within a week, and I have zero regrets. @blue-sunshine-mauve-morning, i absolutely love you and love your writing. It is the best thing since sliced bread. It is better than sliced bread.

I also had the benefit of @celestial-sphere-press saying, hey would you want to use the typeset? MY GOD, i am grateful. I love this fic, i would have typeset it if it hadn't been typeset but Des did such a beautiful job that i am absolutely in awe and thankful that she and the author allowed others to use it. Look at it - it's so beautiful. I only had to think hey, i just gotta design the cover and et cetera and so the book happened.

I took some inspiration from starblight bindery's lovely desert scape as well as this amazing cover of Dune which i own. I love that the landscape emanates Dune vibes while being oh so Tattooine - just sand and heat, relentless loneliness and melancholy. This fic centres around Obi-Wan Infinite Sadness Kenobi so it needed SAD VIBES TM, which i tried to deliver in desolate landscape form.

Also thank the heavens for Renegade members, who in a masterful stroke of Group Buy Saves Money, managed to source extra-out-of-production colours of Colibri and help a fair number of us get really cool limited edition versions of bookcloth. I am now a proud owner of a lorge stash of Duo and Colibri of which i am now sitting on like a shifty dragon with a hoarding problem. Good luck getting your bookcloth now, Folio Society, ha ha (gloating)! This particular bookcloth is Colibri Copper which has been wholly stashed for The Desert Storm series. I am leaning on transitioning to Malachite for Rise and Fall when I get to it.

The front cover design was done with a stock image and converted to a PNG, which i then fiddled with and did some HTV magic with. It was remarkably easier to weed than expected. I tried something new and ironed the design on the naked bookcloth first before gluing it to the boards, which was a new challenge in making sure everything was aligned.

Endpapers are marbled endpapers (Renato Crepaldi) which I got from Hollanders, which perfectly fit the colour scheme of the bind. The only hiccup was as I was cutting, I realized the sheet was running in the opposite direction of his usual papers and half the size, and only yielded 3 A5 size endpapers and so my heart went noooooooooo. oh well. i guess i will use it for quartos.

Endbands are my favourite - silk in 3 colours in the french doublecore style (as i was binding this i did not have the mental capacity to handle the difficulty of 4 strands). the truth is i usually only can do 4 when I have higher brain function and am willing to spend 80% of my time unraveling it from getting tangled.

I also forgot to mention I had mild fuck-ups, I got glue on the front endpaper which I had to hastily remove with wet cloth, and the back square is preposterously bad but I'm ignoring it for now.

Anyway, i've actually managed to complete a few other binds which have not been mentioned here as they've all been gifts/ surprises or event books in some form. I am SO EXCITED, also because I am travelling in the latter half of July to San Diego and L.A. and I get to meet some bookbinding friends in the flesh. Renegade is fucking amazing y'all. I am ready to embrace these crazy lads who have enabled me for the last 1 year, even when i'm the solitary (1) weirdo from my country of origin in the server. Also... potentially bookbinding trip early next year??? I am enthused.

The evening news announced that a group of archaeologists had been found dead in a cave that had collapsed in the early hours of the morning. The big detail: Kaito was friends with this group and had received an official message from the museum where they worked together. Akemi: Grandpa, where's Uncle Kaito? Axel testando golpes e novas armas (criadas por Charlie) na sala de treinamento. 1. What does Renegade mean to you?

Renegade has, in all honesty, probably changed the course of my life! That's not hyperbole--it's had such a huge influence on my hobbies, my friendships, my academic trajectory, even my career. I was still in undergrad when I found ASH's post on fanbinding, and I was very lost as to what the next steps would be. And like so many others experienced, the pandemic only made things even murkier and more isolating. Then I found ASH's manifesto in June 2020, worked up the courage to join the Discord in July 2020, and found a community of like-minded weirdos who were just as passionate (if not even more so!) about their favorite stories, and a craft that I fall a little bit more in love with every day (well, most days. fuckin printers man XD). I wrote my honors thesis thanks to Renegade; I've made lifelong friends thanks to Renegade; I have my current job, in a field I love, thanks to Renegade. (My first Rocky Horror Picture show at Havencon 2022? All thanks to Renegade :D) This really feels like my forever fandom home-- even when I jump around from fandom to fandom, there's always a wonderful and supportive community to fall back on. In short, I really love it here, I'm so pleased with what we've done so far, and I can't wait to see where we go! ❤️

2. Favorite Fic

As everyone else who answered this, this question is IMPOSSIBLE. However, if you put a gun to my head and told me to answer right now, I'd have to say Tell Me About the Big Bang (my binding of it here!) It's one of the fics that has touched me most deeply and which has probably had the greatest influence on my writing. It was one of the first fics I'd ever bound, and I really wanted to rebind it to see how far I've come!

3. One thing you'd like to learn more about

GOD SO MANY THINGS. Backing! Headband techniques. Chisel trimming. Edge gilding. Tiny books. More advanced Cricut techniques. More cohesive and professional-looking graphic design. This hobby is really a dozen hobbies in a trench coat, and there's so much to explore.

4. Paper!

For my textblocks, I use 20 lb. cream Hammermill paper! I order it in 11"x 17" and get it cut in half for short grain, like a lot of other folks at Renegade. Recently I've started experimenting with quarto-sized Legal (8.5"x 14")and fell in love. I also want to try a bunch of the other paper that folks have suggested (looking at @robins-egg-bindery Mohawk Via o.o). For my endpapers, I usually use scrapbook paper from those scrapbook paper packs you can get at Michaels and Joann's (and when they're on sale...WOOF)

5. Cloth!

DUO BOOKCLOTH MY BELOVED. God I wish I'd gotten in on the Renegade group order - but ah well. Big fan of making my own though! There are just so many options to choose from, so it really expands what you can do (again: a dozen hobbies and crafts in a trench coat)

6. The Glue War

LOVE me some PVA! I know that it gives you less time to do things, but I get impatient XD. Plus it's cheap and easy to find and ready to use right out of the bottle, which is great. I've tried my hand at making starch paste + PVA with very mixed (ha!) results, although I had a wonderful time with some methyl cell that @simply-sithel gifted me at Havencon last year <3 So mayhaps will have to buy more of that for a future project!

I also love my Cricut Explore 2, Charlotte! She holds up very well, although I think she's due for a blade refill soon. I've just been setting my pressure higher and higher LOL

7. Machines

Love my Epson ecotank! I recently bought it--for the first two years I was going to my local print shop because the quality was great and I had a discount card. Unfortunately the discount card eventually expired, so I decided to bite the bullet and get my own printer. I really love it! I didn't want to have to deal with laser and printing in color can get pricey--the cartridges are just so goddamn expensive, although I do think laser prints in higher quality. Mayhaps a future purchase, because I'd really like to experiment with foiling!

8. Favorite binding technique

Ooh this one is interesting! I know which part of the process I enjoy the most, which is sewing! Kettle stitch my beloved. ALTHOUGH I am a sucker for the French link too--it's just so pretty! And we just had a wonderful workshop put on last week by @queercore-curriculum on their...embroidered binding/long-stitch binding (??? I don't know if there's an official name for it yet), which I LOVE. Glueless bindings are SO cool and I would love to experiment more with them.

9. Your best tip/trick

Ooh! Hmmm...I'd say: never bind while you're super tired/hungry LOL. I've made many a preventable mistake very late at night because I wanted to get something cased in or glued before bed when I probably should've waited till morning XD That being said, on the flip side I think you should never be afraid to experiment! Go hog wild!!! Use those glitter pens!! Try out that fancy silk for your endbands!! Try that new binding style! And if you fuck up, remember that's okay too! These are handmade objects and those mistakes are proud proof of that, and of your journey as a fanbinder. Stick 'em in the channel on the Discord, laugh and (maybe cry a little XD) about it, and then keep going. tldr; ya live and learn!

10. Favorite Detail

Ooh, this one's hard! I love leaving little Easter eggs in my designs. I'd say my favorite is putting my maker's mark on things! My imprint is Moonham Press (a fun mix of my usernames, chubsthehamster and chubsonthemoon), and the logo includes a little crescent moon. I'd actually been binding for about two years when I finally made the imprint--I used to think that it was...idk, kind of weird to put myself in the book? Like I was taking away from the story inside it. But then I got to thinking--well, hey, I'm the one who made this book, right? If nothing else, putting my mark on it tells someone who may pick it up one day that I was connected to this story. Some conversations with some folks at Renegade during Havencon 2022 also helped me embrace this. So these days I put my imprint logo in the typesetting, and I also put it on the cover somewhere! My favorite spots are either on the spine, between the title and author name, or on the back cover, in the bottom left corner :D

11. Spines

Spines are the bane of my existence. Haha, jk. They're mostly just tedious, since they're one of the only parts of the process that still require precise measurement (I've cut templates for everything else by now, and I use my guillotine to cut boards, so that goes super fast). For my thicker books I use Bristol board; I actually still use the same sheets I bought in 2020 when I first started binding--I didn't know how much I would really need so I think I ordered four massive sheets which will probably last me for ten years LOL. For my thinner books, I use Davy board, which is a pain to cut but gives the book a really nice board feel. And for my paperbacks, the spine is just the cover, which I make out of kraft paper for the backing + the decorative paper (usually scrapbook paper or something I've designed and printed)

12. Mistakes/Fails

Ooh BOY are there many. My most recent was my experiment with making a hardback quarto letter. I made the hinge waaaaay too small so when I tested the case the textblock was sticking out of it LOL. But I've been pretty lucky--this is only the second case I've had to remake in my time as fanbinder *KNOCKS ON WOOD*, but my printer fuck-ups when I was trying to figure out how to print on legal sized paper (since my printer doesn't duplex) probably make up for the luck I've had in the case department XD. Casing in, though--I think I've had maaaaaybe...two or three case-ins where I was completely happy with the results. A large part of this is because my guillotine doesn't cut completely straight, so my squares are never even LOL. But hey, I'm not getting paid for this, and I'm having fun, so eh.

13. Process

Ooh, interesting! My process has remained largely unchanged--I think the only thing that has really changed is now the frequency at which I print. I used to print at a print shop, so I'd make typesets in large batches--usually two to four books, sometimes more (I think the most I've done at a time is five?), and I'd make a day out of it. Now that I have my printer at home though, I can do things in smaller batches! I can also test print things, so I've been able to get a lot more experimental with my books sizes and my covers. Everything else has remained largely the same--the first book I did I typeset in MS Word, but everything after that I've all done in Affinity Publisher. I typeset > print > bind > take pictures! I really like how different each step is (like I said, twelve different hobbies in a trench coat), so there's always something different to do if I get bored. My favorite parts are probably designing covers and sewing the signatures!

14. Storage solutions

OUGH. I have one of those rollaway drawer thingies for all my tools, a dozen scrapbook paper containers, several large baskets for my vinyl and cloth, a hanging stand for my larger sheets of decorative paper, a standing desk which holds my Cricut and printer (a few of the aforementioned vinyl baskets are under this desk too), another rollaway basket thingy that holds my printing paper and my press (also under the standing desk), another desk which holds both my two guillotines and cutting mats (and under that desk are all my scrapbook paper containers and Cricut mats), and a final third desk where I keep all my sewing stuff and where I do my typesetting and other sitting-down parts of the process. And of course my shelves for all my books! This doesn't really give a sense of where everything is, but it's actually fairly organized, and for the most part I know where everything is (except for my FUCKING bone folder god that thing is always ending up in places I do not remember putting it XD)

16. Dust jackets and covers

Oooh, I've never made a dust jacket before--I don't think my printer could handle the wonky paper size that it requires, but they look really cool and I'd maybe be up for making one someday! And covers! Both my greatest love and my greatest enemy. They're super fun to design, but this is one part of the process that always feels like an uphill battle for me! There are so many skilled and talented folks in Renegade with GORGEOUS covers, and it's always a mix of being incredibly inspired and getting some design envy--but either way it's very motivating to keep me out of my comfort zone and to always keep trying new things. I use decorative paper and scrapbook paper mostly for the base material (although I've begun experimenting with designing things digitally and printing them out on Epson matte presentation paper), and then the rest is fuck it, we ball. I usually design the cover last, so I have an entire typeset and title page already when I begin, which makes things a little easier since I have an already established aesthetic to work with. My font selection is kind of determined by how small the text for the title/author name is, since my Cricut isn't great at cutting super small sizes (Times New Roman, funnily enough, is one of the only fonts that it can do at smaller sizes LOL so a lot of the text on my covers/spines are in TNR). I'm excited to keep improving and experimenting in this area!

17. Published inspiration

Ooh!! This one's fun--when I first began making my Master pages in Affinity publisher, I literally grabbed the first few books I saw on my shelf and said 'alright, this looks good' and haven't looked back since LOL. Those books were Vintage's editions of Toni Morrison's novels, Picador's Gilead by Marilynne Robinson, Vintage's edition of Willa Cather's The Song of the Lark, Fall River's omnibus editions of Shakespeare and Sherlock Holmes's works, Penguin Classic's Deluxe edition of Jane Austen's novels, and a few others that I can't remember. I looked at all these books, found what they had in common (for example, a simple title page before the decorative title page, the use of a single graphic or design at the beginning of each chapter, etc.) and went with that! I don't usually take inspiration from specific books, EXCEPT for a project I'm currently working on which I'm super excited about :3 More TK here eheh (ADDITION 3/7: I was talking about Maybe sprout wings here LOL)

18. Illustrations

FANART MY BELOVED. I LOVE including fanart in my books, because it's such a lovely demonstration of the communal nature of these stories and it's so fun getting to collect all the pieces. For free use graphics my favorite sites are Adobe Stock images and Heritage Library. Heritage in particular has a beautiful selection of free vintage graphics packs that I've used for years now. And very occasionally, wingdings fonts will have something I really like XD

19. Favorite tool

Despite my gripes earlier about always misplacing it, I ADORE my bone folder. It's a funky lil dude and it makes all my edges nice and crisp! I can't wait for the retreat bone folder fufu :3 Also a very big fan of my guillotine, which despite its flaws makes my life a hell of a lot easier in the long run, as well as my presses, which were handmade by my dad and do their jobs very well (squiiiiiiish)

20. Favorite part of the binding process

Oooh, this one's fun! I really like the actual construction of the book--sewing sigs is always relaxing and has been one of my fave parts since the very beginning. Recently I've started to really enjoy designing covers, especially if there are a lot of physical elements (like layering scrapbook paper or playing around with Mod Podge).

I had the absolute privilege to hold @clovenhoofbindery's copy of Away Childish Things at Havencon last year. Literally every book Space makes I fall in love with, and her designs are a HUGE inspiration for me. Everything from the typesetting to cover design to physical construction--I lose my marbles every time.

21. Inspo: The binder that inspired you!

Ohhh this one's so hard! Literally every time I check the #show-off channel in the Discord I'm struck by so many beautiful books. I'm going to cheat and name a few people here, but this list is by no means comprehensive and doesn't even begin to cover everyone I could name.

Everything @pleasantboatpress binds is just so beautiful. Their color choices are always inspired and their headbands make me want to cry! Their bind of Unconditional in particular had me foaming at the mouth.

The quality of everything @zhalfirin-binds makes, likewise, always blows me away. Her books are so polished and professional, and her photos make me feel like I'm in a museum when I'm trawling her blog for inspo!

@simply-sithel's tiny books are literally the coolest things ever! I'm still working my way through the Binderary vids and I can't wait to get to hers. Six plays with form in mind-bending and truly innovative ways, and her blog is wonderland of tiny and fantastical book creatures.

@teleportbooks's binds are the definition of classy and refined. They're so good at designing their books according to the contents of the fic--their binding of Thirty-Three Lashes in particular is just the best design centered around fic content and title I've seen. Their designs always make me melt a little when I see them!

@no-name-publishing's endbands are to DIE for. Like fr I am in awe every time!!! And Kam's cover + title page designs are a huge source of inspo for me--forever in love with this bind of theirs, with the beautiful painted cover + matching endpapers T_T

And of course!!! I (and everyone else) wouldn't be here without our beloved leader, @armoredsuperheavy. He's the first binder that ever inspired me, and he continues to do so today!

22. Inspo: The fic that inspired you!

My original answer was also my answer for 27 ("First bind"), but I'm gonna say something a little different here! I usually know pretty quickly whether I'm interested in binding something, but very rarely has a fic gotten me hook, line, and sinker the way @that-banhus's King of Infinite Space did. Like, from the first line I was like "oh god I need to hold this one." And eventually I did! :3

23. Author spotlight: Someone you've bound

AHHHHHH this one is so hard too! I've bound a good number of authors over the years, many of whom are my dear friends, and to spotlight only a single one would be impossible. So I'm just going to poke @dodici12, whose killugon fic See You Upside Down is one of the best killugon reunion fics ever in my very humble hamster opinion. Hiiiii Tessa ilysm <333

24. Author spotlight: Someone you'd like to bind

OOOOOH. Many, many fics are in my queue. I'll keep them to myself for now, since I prefer to ask for author permission via DM, but atm I have my eye on a few Good Omens authors whose work I adore!

25. Favorite bind by you!

THIS ONE IS SO HARD AJLSKDJF. I love all my babies so much and I'm proud of what I was able to accomplish and what I learned from each of them. However, if you put a gun to my head and asked me to choose right now, I'd have to go with my most recent bind of Maybe sprout wings by @moorishflower. I'm really pleased with both its construction and particularly the curation of its contents, which includes the work of nearly a dozen people. It was my attempt at capturing the communal nature of fanfiction's creation and dispersal, and it was also my Big Project this Binderary. I'm ridiculously fond and proud of it!

26. Favorite bind by someone else!

THIS ONE IS SO HARD TOO HELP. Okay this is only one of my many many favorites, but dragging Space back out here again to say that her bind of Away Childish Things permanently altered my brain chemistry. Like, the cutout!!! The patronuses!!!! The title page cutout???? THE KEY??? Again, I held this book in my hands IN PERSON last year and I'm still not over it. The quality of the work is absolutely bonkers crazy incredible and I think about it Often.

27. First bind

The very first fic I ever bound was On Stranger Tides by @theroyalsavage. It's still one of my favorite fics ever today--it has the perfect blend of action/adventure, romance, humor, and fantasy. It gives me the good ol' "roaming the high seas with found family and magic and pirates" ache. It holds a very special place in my heart!

It's so crazy seeing how far Renegade has come, from a little Discord for book shop chatting (ASH mentioned in one of the talks how it was just called, like, "Bookbinding Discord" at the beginning LOL) to now. We're well on our way to a proper organizational structure, with several yearly events, in-person meetups, and thousands of members all over the world. And we have so much more planned! It feels truly special, and I'm so grateful to everyone who makes this possible.

Comments: This book is a collection of short stories, legends, fables, and folklore from African culture. It begins with a fairly lengthy introduction that delves into the culture, folklore, and history, explaining how these elements influence the stories within the book and how tales evolve and adapt over time.

The stories in the book are organised into different sections, including "Bearing Witness," "People with Unusual Powers," and "Why Things Are the Way They Are." Notable stories featured include "Anansi and Nothing," "Ohia and the Thieving Deer," and "Why the Moon Waxes and Wanes." Each story also includes an introduction that provides context and explains its significance.

One disappointment I had was that the book wasn’t fully illustrated. While there was some artwork for each section and occasional small illustrations, it wasn’t enough to truly deem the book illustrated. Additionally, I found it challenging to read certain stories, particularly the ones featuring Brer Rabbit, as they were written entirely in slang, which felt like a different language altogether.

However, I enjoyed exploring stories from different cultures, and the book appeared to be well-researched.

Shakespeare Weekend

Continuing our look at The Works of Mr. William Shakespear: in ten volumes published in 1728 by Alexander Pope (1688-1744) and Dr. George Sewell (d. 1726), this week we examine Volume Four and its imprint variation on the title page. Volumes Four, Five, and Nine all include additional booksellers aside from Jacob Tonson (1655-1736).

The imprint for these three volumes reads “Printed for J. Tonson in the Strand; and for J. Darby, A. Bettesworth, and F. Clay, in Trust for Richard, James, and Bethel Wellington”. Richard Wellington Sr. was established in the London book trade during the 1700s, shortly after his death in 1715 his wife Mary assigned his stock of books over to Darby, Bettesworth, and Clay in trust for her three children. How or why Wellington was tied to only volumes four, five, and nine of Pope’s work is unknown to us.  

Volume Four contains a group of Shakespearean history plays including King John, King Richard II, King Henry IV Part I, King Henry IV Part II, and King Henry. Similar to Rowe’s earlier collection, scene divisions, stage directions, dramatis personae, and full-page engravings by either French artist Louis Du Guernier (1677-1716) or Englishman Paul Fourdrinier (1698-1758) precede each play.  

Pope’s editions of Shakespeare were the first attempted to collate all previous publications. He consulted twenty-seven early quartos restoring passages that had been out of print for almost a century while simultaneously removing about 1,560 lines of material that didn’t appeal to him. Some of those lines were degraded to the bottom of the page with his other editorial notes.

It's such a fun creative read that really discusses his ideas and references throughout his films. I am a huge Wes Anderson fan and this was the perfect read for me.
