新生DOUBLEとして7月に活動を再開してから、ブレイクしまくりのTAKAKO。その彼女がプロローグアルバムをへて、ついにファーストアルバム「double」を完成。

「前に出した「Crystal」はいってたとおりプロローグ。いままでの私たちの成長過程も見れる序章的なアルバムだったから、『ファースト」とは呼びたくなかった。ファーストアルバムは、すみからすみまで納得いくものを出したかったんです。だから今回のが本当のファーストアルバムなんだ。That's DOUBLEみたいな(笑)。これぞDOUBLEってことでタイトル名にもしたの。ずいぶんデビューからたってるけど、気張ったカンジはなく��これが私の音楽ってことでみんなに感じてもらえるとうれしいかな」

前回の「Handle」「U」のシングルをリリースしてから、間髪を入れずにアルバムの制作に突入したというTAKAKO。そのテンションの高い&勢いのあるまま作れたのでよかったと笑う。

「作ってみて思うことは、全曲すべて気に入ってるほどイイものができたなぁと。DOUBLEならではのR&Bはもちろんヒップホップテイストも入ってるしね。1曲目を「Handle」にしようと思ったのは、イントロがドラマチックだし、再会の曲ということでDOUBLEにぴったしだから。ファンの みんなお待たせーっていう思いで1曲目にしたんです。歌詞のほうもがぜん(笑)スキルアップしたので注目してください。本当に自分の子どもみたいに「おーよちよち」ってかわいがるぐらいのアルバムだから」

「Angel」でも新たな一面を見せてく れたDOUBLE。いろんな彼女の魅力が凝縮された一枚はマジで見逃せない。

I know from the koolschool that I'm from as me you probably had a crush on Ms. Baker. Who else could personify the challenging combo of talent, beauty, class, and grace. 今回、三木俊雄率いるFrontpage Orchestraと、あのSouliveとのセッションを中心にレコーディングされている。

”今回のアルバムを作るにあたって、いろいろなジャズのアルバムを聴いたんですけど、 Frontpage Orchestraの作品もその中にあって、それで気に入ってお願いしたんです。Souliveに関しては、元々はスタッフのアイディアだったんですけど、R&Bとジャズがちょうどいい具合いにミックスされたグループだし、私の立ち位置的にもピッタリ来るグループなんじゃないかと思いましたね。迫力もありますし、とてもいい方たちでした(笑)。大野雄二さんも、最初にライヴを観させていただいたんですけど、この人にはパッションがあるなと感じました。音楽を作る上で、パッションはすごく大事だと思うんですけど、それが感じられる人って、そうそういないじゃないで すか。ご本人はすごく気さくというか、堅苦しくなくて、枠にとらわれなくて、自由な感じがすごく素敵ですね”

今回ジャズを歌って、彼女自身新たな発見などはあったのだろうか。

”これまで私の音楽は、トラックをひとつひとつ作り上げていくというものなので。ライヴー発で録るというのはとても���鮮だし、緊張しました。中には一緒に歌っ た仮歌でOKになっているものもあります。みんなの高揚感とかは、機械では絶対に出ないだろうと思いますね。多少音とかが外れてても、人間の生々しさを直に感じることができて、やっぱりジャズは、ライヴなんだなということが、今回あらためてわかりました。有機的だな、と。今回のアルバムを聴いても、すごくライヴ感 出ていると思います”

このアルバムは、まさにDOUBLEの新しい魅力が引き出させた意欲作だといえるだろう。

”今回はコーラスも少ないし、リード1本で聴かせる良さ、というのが出ていると思います。 オリジナル・アルバムでは、プロデューサーとしての視点で見ることも多いんですけど、今回はシン ガーとして、楽しく歌えました。だからリスナーの人も、あまり先入観を持たずに聴いてほしいですね。すごく聴きやすいアルバム になっていると思うので、ジャズのことをあまり知らない人にも、その入門的なアルバムになればいいなと思います”
