Started out as a crackfic of Purah and Link being besties. Then somehow turned into Purah getting kidnapped and Link having a polycule. We've got it all, folks! Autistic Purah! Goofy Yiga! Selectively mute Link! The whole shebang!

Excerpt:

Kohga snapped his fingers and in an instant there was a brute holding a blade to her throat. She inhaled sharply and sat up a little straighter from where she was on the ground in the Yiga's hideout. Kohga walked up to her slowly, footsteps unnaturally loud, and she fought the urge to back away.  

"How about this." His voice was uncharacteristically serious as he squatted down to eye level with her. "You help me, and I'll give you ten bunches of bananas."  

She blinked slowly. The Yiga goons murmured amongst themselves, "Ten whole bunches?!" "That's a lot!" "The Master is so generous!"  

"...Did you just." Her mind went blank with disbelief. "Did you just try to bribe me. With bananas?"  

Master Kohga nodded solemnly. "Well?"  

She nearly started laughing at the absurdity of it all. There was still a goddess-damn sword at her throat.  

Breathing in deeply and steeling herself, she made up her mind.  

"It'll need to be at least twenty bunches."

I can’t believe Purah finally gave them more of the main quest (Purah’s defense is it’s hard to herd our heroes when they hold the collective brain cell of a bag of cats.)

Goddessdammit Linky, pull yourself together!! I headcanon that after the "The Dragon's Tears" and "Crisis at Hyrule Castle" quests, Link's behavior is so erratic and self-destructive that Purah and the sages strap him to chair and make an INTERVENTION!! They are WORRIED!! 😢 Poor Link misses Zelda so much💔💔💔

WIP Wednesday strikes again!

Mipha stepped closer to the painting. “I thought you said you never saw Zelda again after she left for Mount Lanayru.” “I didn’t.” Impa traced her finger over the frame. “We somehow missed each other. But I made it to Fort Hateno, where Purah and Robbie were getting ready to transport you to the Great Plateau. Link was gone by then too, and I didn’t see him either. But you…” Impa turned away, her voice quivering. “You were… I was terrified for you. And confused, too. I managed to get most of the story out of them, but Purah was an utter wreck, and Robbie had kind of… shut down, so I stopped pushing. “What I did do, once I’d gotten Purah to calm down, was insist that I go with them to the Plateau. It was still so dangerous out there, and they—and you—needed help and protection. Purah tried to argue with me, but she just didn’t have the energy for it, especially when Robbie sided with me. So we loaded you up into a wagon and set off on the most harrowing, tense journey I’ve ever been on. “We made it, though. And so did you.” Impa’s shoulders slumped. “Somehow, even with Hyrule ripped apart like that, chaos everywhere… we got you to the shrine before what was left of your strength gave out, and put you into the Slumber of Restoration. That was when I got entrusted with this.” She brushed her fingertips over Mipha’s sash. “It was badly damaged, and needed to be taken off before you were put in there to heal, so I said I’d take it home and mend it. And I did.” Tears prickled at Mipha’s eyes again, as they found the repaired rips in the blue fabric. “Thank you…” “It was nothing. Just a few stitches here and there, and some careful washing.” Something seemed to shutter in her face. “You more or less know the rest after that, I’m sure—we made our way back off the Plateau, and split up so that we wouldn’t all be in one place while we waited for you to wake up. I was true to our agreement and never visited Hateno… but sometimes, when I felt brave enough, I did slip away to the plain, to the fort, to try and pay my respects. I never… “I never forgot that day, or what I saw as I raced across the battlefield. What I saw when I left the fort with Purah and Robbie.” Impa clasped a hand to her mouth as her tears began to spill forth. “So eventually I… took a canvas and some paint, and I created this. Not just to get it out of my head, but to memorialize the fallen. All the strangers I never knew, and the friends I did, that I prayed for every night.” She closed her eyes. “That I still pray for.” “Oh, Impa…” Mipha reached for her, and Impa fell without resistance into her embrace, beginning to to weep in earnest as Mipha held her. “I am… so sorry…” “That I saw all that I did? That things happened that way? So am I.” Impa let out a shuddering sigh. “I won’t deny that there were miracles that day, but not many. Not enough to stem the tide of all that horror, or even turn back what happened to you.” She pulled back, eyeing Mipha with no small measure of uncertainty. “Have you… been back to the fort? I mean, since you remembered Link.” “No.” A faint shiver curled through Mipha’s body. “My first trip through there, before I remembered, was so eerie that I never wanted to go back.” “Maybe you should.”
