🏛️ Supreme Court Rejects Challenge to UGC-NET Exam Cancellation Due to Paper Leak Allegations
On Monday, the Supreme Court dismissed a petition contesting the government's decision to cancel the UGC-NET examination following allegations of a question paper leak. The court stated that intervening at this stage would create disorder and uncertainty, stressing the importance of stability for the students who are set to take the exam.
⚖️ The bench, led by Chief Justice D Y Chandrachud, along with Justices JB Pardiwala and Manoj Misra, noted that the government has rescheduled the exam for 21 August, as reported by PTI.
Chief Justice Chandrachud remarked, "Considering the petition at this point would only exacerbate uncertainty and lead to complete disorder," underlining the government's need to exercise greater caution in light of previous examination scandals such as the NEET-UG issue.
📜 Earlier, the Supreme Court had dismissed a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) filed by a solicitor on the same matter, pointing out that it had not been initiated by the affected candidates themselves. The CJI stated, "Why are you (solicitor) approaching us? Let the students come forward themselves," making it clear that the court was not offering an opinion on the case's merits.
📰 The original petition challenged the Union Education Ministry and National Testing Agency's decision to annul the UGC-NET exam, a decision taken due to concerns that the exam's integrity had been compromised. On 19 June, the ministry cancelled the exam and referred the case to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) for further inquiry.

CM Maryam Nawaz Sharif Launches Pakistan’s Biggest-Ever Agriculture Graduates Internship Program
LAHORE, 25 September 2024:
Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif launched the biggest agriculture graduate internship program in the history of Pakistan at Faisalabad University of Agriculture. A scholarship of 60,000 rupees per month will be given to 1,000 agriculture graduates. Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif distributed appointment letters among the agriculture graduate students. She also met the teachers and students of the University of Agriculture. She went to the students and inquired about the selection on merit. Students also took selfies with her. CM Maryam Nawaz Sharif congratulated the student Anila Hussain who recited Naat Rasul Maqbool (SAW) by getting up from her seat.
The CM while addressing said, “Thanks be to Allah that today we are starting the implementation of Pakistan's biggest historic Kisan package. Having actually worked on the Kisan package, the students being here and receiving the internship letter is proof that the implementation of the Kisan package has started in a very short period of time. When someone exploits the youth, politics gets defamed. Politics is part of life.”
She said, “Those who raise slogans of the youth should stand up and tell me that if any youth has got a job on merit in the last six years. I broke the traditions of the past, invited the displeasure of the party and 95% of my cabinet comprises young people. In my cabinet there are educated and hard working young people whose hard work is the result of their sitting here today. The ministers of my cabinet are not the representatives of PML-N but representatives of the people. Within a short period of 6 months this project has not only been launched but people have been given employments.”
CM Maryam Nawaz Sharif said, “I swear that none of these youths were given jobs on any recommendation but on merit only. Such transparency is unprecedented in the past. Approximately, 1,000 youths have been given employments at Rs. 60,000 per month. People have expectations that if someone close to them holds any position, it should make it easier for them. I promise you that as long as I am holding this office, I will never let merit to be violated. Today Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif was asked by a foreign ambassador what is his opinion about the political chaos. I want to ask the youth, do you want a Pakistan that in which abusive language is used and and false accusations are levelled. I realize that when a young person pursues a degree, there is a burden on him to support his parents financially. The purpose of this internship is to strengthen the youth financially. During the interview, no youth was given the job on political basis but the job criteria is only merit. One MPA told me during the meeting that a vehicle from our clinic on Wheels was seen parked in front of the opposition camp. I thought that as a Chief Minister of Punjab, if I consider political affiliations and provide facilities, then what will I answer to Allah?”
CM Punjab said, “It is an easy task that I can say to go to another province to hold a meeting or hold a vandalism. My opponents have no work to do and when they talk, they pour out heaps of filth. The system of disbelief can work but the system of oppression cannot because oppression is based on lies.”
She added, “Wherever I go to any hospital, I meet patients coming from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. We started a heart surgery program in which more than 15 thousand children will undergo heart surgery. More than 100 heart surgeries h ave been carried out within a week out of which many patients came from KPK. KPK government's only priority is to spread chaos in other provinces. I am not afraid of slogans from the opposition and I will not hesitate to speak the truth. During the tenure of Muhammad Nawaz Sharif, there was talk of GDP growth and development. But today the only focus is on who can abuse whom loudly. Do the youth want such a Pakistan for themselves? When I go to office, I spend every single moment in making things easy for you.”
She said, “Before today has any government taken any step to protect the girls. We have ensured the safety of girls through virtual police stations. With Safe City and Pink Button, you can get help from the government in difficult times. More than 5000 applications were received for the internship program out of which 1000 were selected. All these youths belong to agriculture universities and their age is less than 25 years. It is a matter of happiness for me that 25% of them are girls. You all are the source of communication between me and the farmers. Next year we are going to launch the biggest Kisan package worth Rs 400 billion in the history of Punjab. Punjab is the biggest food basket of entire Pakistan. We have decided this year that the government will not buy wheat. The government buys wheat not from farmers but from mafias and commission agent, who hold the farmers hostage. There is immense corruption in this whole process, each bag of Bardana is sold for many thousands. The farmer never gets fixed rate settled by the government. By stopping this corruption, the price of bread has significantly decreased. In no other province except Punjab does bread cost 12 or 13 rupees? I also ask my team members to take care of the person who has to run his house for 30 thousand rupees. Punjab is the only province of Pakistan where the inflation graph has been going down continuously for the last six months. We are going to give an interest-free loan of one and a half lakh to the small farmers for the crop. We have received ten lakh applications for the Kisan Card across Punjab. 3.5 lakh farmers have been declared eligible, whose cards have already been distributed.”
CM Maryam Nawaz Sharif said, “Kisan cards will be activated from October 15. The message to the farmer is that plant wheat without fear, I will not let you lose. If they give profits to the commissioner agent and the mafia, the price of bread will increase. I also want to benefit the farmer and make the bread of the poor cheap. Our effort is to ensure that the farmer gets loan and is not exploited. We have started the green tractor scheme in which the government will pay 10 lakhs out of the tractor price of 40 lakh rupees. The government will give Rs 10 lakh subsidy on tractor worth Rs 25 lakh for small farmers. By the grace of Allah, farmers have complete trust in the government of Punjab, Nawaz Sharif and Maryam Nawaz Sharif. The farmer knows that we will get loan and machinery too. It is easy to shout the slogan of the farmer but no one has taken practical steps till date for his prosperity. More than 8 lakh applications have been received in Apna Chhat Apna Ghar scheme. Agriculture malls have started to be built in Bahawalpur, Multan, Sahiwal and other cities where the farmer will have all the facilities under one roof. We are close to creating an agricultural bank for the farmers which will be launched soon. We are taking tubewells towards solarisation.”
The CM added, “As soon as I became the Chief Minister, I received a message from a farmer that even today a farmer's hand is cut off by the usage of manual cutter. Now, we decided to create a mechanism to provide modern machinery to the farmers. We are going to set up an agricultural machinery centre in every district where the machinery will be available on rent to the farmers. Don't support the leader who grabs your weapon or forces you to burn and surround you or teaches you to attack the memorials of martyrs. His own children are sitting outside, but he asks the youth of Pakistan to leave their duties and jobs and come to the streets every day. The youth who are arrested in May 9 cases are undergoing distressed and difficult life. A Chief Minister entered into the jurisdiction of Punjab and broke the windows of a bus with AK-47. Control the ongoing hooliganism and terrorism in your province, Maryam Nawaz Sharif will not allow the people of Punjab to become terrorists. Your own people are dying of hunger and disease, pay attention to them. Punjab runs under law and order. Two police officers ended their rally at the decided time. In case of any crime, I immediately seek details from the concerned DPO. What is a Chief Minister of a province teaching the youth by standing in the meeting and making such accusations against me? Paying full attention to the vandalism, not fulfilling one's duties is criminal negligence.”
The CM said, “I don't have time for rallies and humiliating anyone. If Allah Almighty has given you a responsibility then fulfill it. By driving one-way vehicles on the highway, they endangered the lives of thousands of people. If you break the law by coming to the border of Punjab, you will get a harsh response. All their rallies have failed due to the relief being given to the people. Opponents started getting angry over the relief given in our electricity bills. God willing, Punjab will develop by leaps and bounds. I pray that Allah Almighty gives wisdom and understanding to my opponents to fulfill their responsibilities. Terrorism and misbehaviour cannot provide youth a job. There is a government in Punjab that thinks about the people of Punjab. God willing, in five years, Punjab will become a developed province. I am proud of the youth who got the agriculture graduates internship and your parents will be proud of you too.”
Provincial Agriculture Minister Ashiq Hussain Kirmani and Agriculture Secretary Iftikhar Sahoo also addressed the event. Senator Pervez Rasheed, Federal Advisor Rana Sanaullah, Senior Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb, Provincial Minister for Information and Culture Azma Zahid Bokhari, Special Assistant Zeeshan Malik, Talal Chaudhry, MPA Sania Ashiq, Abid Sher Ali, Chief Secretary Zahid Akhtar Zaman, IGP, Secretary Agriculture Iftikhar Sahoo, Secretary Information Dr. Shahinshah Faisal Azim and other relevant officers were also present.

This significant meeting focused on enhancing entrepreneurship in Punjab and addressing various challenges related to industrial growth in the region.
During the discussion, Khawaja Jalaluddin Rumi shared insights regarding the obstacles facing industrial development. He emphasized the need for supportive initiatives to foster a thriving business environment. In response, Chief Minister Usman Bazdar introduced the innovative concept of "Cottage Business Housing," designed to merge workspace and living areas, making it easier for entrepreneurs to manage both their businesses and personal lives.
The "Cottage Business Housing" initiative aims to provide self-employment opportunities and housing, particularly benefiting women in the region. Bazdar outlined plans for the Quaid-e-Azam Business Park, which is envisioned as a model for a special economic zone. This project is currently under development, with efforts underway to ensure the provision of essential utilities like electricity and water.
In a bid to improve connectivity, an MoU has been signed to develop an interchange that will link the Quaid-e-Azam Business Park with the main dual carriageway. This infrastructure enhancement is expected to facilitate smoother transportation for goods and services. Additionally, an underground power supply and a wastewater treatment plant are planned for the business park, along with proposals for establishing an industrial zone in Muzaffargarh through a public-private partnership. Haryana Deserves Quality Education and Healthcare Like Delhi, Says AAP
In a passionate address, Sunita Kejriwal, wife of jailed Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, championed the cause for improved education and healthcare in Haryana, drawing comparisons to the advancements made in Delhi. Speaking to a crowd in the Nalwa Assembly segment of Hisar, Sunita criticized the BJP government for its alleged failure to support education and healthcare over the past decade.
Tumblr media
Sunita highlighted the concerning trend of government school closures in Haryana, questioning where the region's children would receive their education. “The BJP government has not delivered on its promises in the last ten years. Therefore, I believe they will not secure a single seat in the upcoming elections,” she stated.
She also connected emotionally with the audience, noting that Arvind Kejriwal, a native of Hisar, had risen from local roots to become the Chief Minister of Delhi. “It’s remarkable to think that someone from Hisar could become Delhi’s Chief Minister after 20 years,” she added.
Sunita praised the improvements made in Delhi’s government schools and healthcare facilities, emphasizing that similar advancements could benefit Haryana. “Arvind Kejriwal has transformed Delhi’s education and healthcare systems, and the AAP governments in Delhi and Punjab have established excellent mohalla clinics and hospitals, providing quality free treatment,” she said.
Umesh Sharma, AAP state secretary for the education wing, echoed these sentiments, pointing out the dire state of education for disadvantaged children in Haryana. He stressed that AAP offers a hopeful alternative in a political landscape where other parties have merely used issues to gain votes. Sharma expressed optimism that Arvind Kejriwal, once he is released, will lead the party’s efforts in Haryana.

Freedom Fighters of India: Heroes Who Shaped the Nation's Independence
Introduction
India's struggle for independence is a saga of courage, sacrifice, and unyielding determination. The nation’s freedom fighters played a crucial role in overthrowing British colonial rule, and their legacy continues to inspire generations. These brave individuals came from various backgrounds, but they shared a common goal: to see India free from foreign domination. This article delves into the lives and contributions of some of the most notable freedom fighters of India.
Mahatma Gandhi: The Father of the Nation
Mahatma Gandhi, born Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi, is arguably the most recognized figure in India's fight for independence. His philosophy of non-violence (Ahimsa) and civil disobedience became the cornerstone of the Indian independence movement.
Early Life and Education
Gandhi was born on October 2, 1869, in Porbandar, Gujarat. He studied law in London and later moved to South Africa, where he developed his political views and leadership skills.
Non-Cooperation and Civil Disobedience
Gandhi returned to India in 1915 and soon became a prominent leader in the Indian National Congress. His non-cooperation movement in 1920 and the civil disobedience movement in 1930, which included the famous Salt March, were pivotal in galvanizing Indian masses against British rule.
Legacy
Gandhi’s commitment to non-violence and his role in the freedom struggle earned him the title "Father of the Nation." His teachings continue to influence global movements for civil rights and freedom.
Jawaharlal Nehru: The First Prime Minister
Jawaharlal Nehru was a central figure in Indian politics both before and after independence. He was a close associate of Gandhi and played a key role in shaping modern India.
Early Life and Political Awakening
Born on November 14, 1889, in Allahabad, Nehru was educated at Harrow and Cambridge. His exposure to Western political ideas deeply influenced his thinking.
Role in the Freedom Struggle
Nehru was a prominent leader in the Indian National Congress and participated in several key movements, including the Quit India Movement of 1942. He was imprisoned multiple times for his activities against British rule.
Prime Minister of Independent India
On August 15, 1947, India gained independence, and Nehru became the first Prime Minister. His vision of a secular, socialist India laid the foundation for the country's political and economic policies.
Subhas Chandra Bose: The Revolutionary Leader
Subhas Chandra Bose, known for his militant approach, was a formidable force in the Indian independence movement. His slogan "Give me blood, and I will give you freedom" reflects his fierce patriotism.
Early Life and Radical Ideology
Bose was born on January 23, 1897, in Cuttack, Odisha. He was educated in England and passed the Indian Civil Services exam but chose to join the freedom struggle instead.
Formation of the Indian National Army
Disillusioned with the Congress's non-violent methods, Bose formed the Indian National Army (INA) with the support of Axis powers during World War II. His aim was to liberate India through armed struggle.
Impact and Legacy
Although the INA did not achieve its goal, Bose's efforts significantly boosted the morale of Indian nationalists. He remains a symbol of defiant patriotism.
Bhagat Singh: The Martyr
Bhagat Singh is revered as a martyr and one of India's greatest revolutionaries. His daring acts of defiance and ultimate sacrifice made him a legend in the freedom movement.
Early Life and Radicalization
Born on September 28, 1907, in Punjab, Bhagat Singh was inspired by the Jallianwala Bagh massacre and the Ghadar movement. He joined the Hindustan Socialist Republican Association (HSRA) and advocated for a socialist India.
Iconic Acts of Rebellion
Singh’s most famous acts include the assassination of British police officer John Saunders in 1928 and the bombing of the Central Legislative Assembly in 1929. He was arrested and sentenced to death.
Execution and Legacy
Bhagat Singh was hanged on March 23, 1931, at the age of 23. His fearless actions and writings continue to inspire youth and activists across India.
Rani Lakshmibai: The Warrior Queen
Rani Lakshmibai of Jhansi is one of the most celebrated female freedom fighters. Her bravery during the 1857 revolt against the British is legendary.
Early Life and Marriage
Born in 1828 in Varanasi, she married the Maharaja of Jhansi. After her husband’s death, she assumed control of the kingdom.
Role in the 1857 Revolt
Lakshmibai led her troops against the British forces with remarkable valor. Her defense of Jhansi became a symbol of resistance and courage.
Legacy
Lakshmibai died in battle in 1858, but her legacy as a fearless leader and patriot endures. She remains an icon of strength and resistance.
Bal Gangadhar Tilak: The Assertive Nationalist

Prime Minister Unveils Talent Hunt Program for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa's Rising Table Tennis Stars
In a bid to unearth hidden table tennis talents across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the Prime Minister of Pakistan launched a groundbreaking talent hunt program at the iconic Peshawar Sports Complex. The initiative aims to scout for promising players from diverse regions, bolstering the province's sports landscape.
Officially kick-started at a ceremony in December 2023, the program promises trials in five regions, offering aspiring athletes a platform to showcase their skills. Notably, the Vice Chancellor of Peshawar University emphasized the Higher Education Commission's pivotal role in nurturing new talent, ensuring opportunities beyond Peshawar.
Following a brief hiatus due to Ramadan and Eid-ul-Fitr festivities, the regional table tennis competition commenced at the Arena Hall of Peshawar Sports Complex. Rana Mashhood, Advisor to the Prime Minister and former Punjab Sports Minister, reiterated his commitment to implementing successful sports policies nationwide. Despite initial grievances regarding trial locations, efforts were made to address concerns, reflecting a dedication to inclusivity.
While the presence of established players raised eyebrows, the program's focus remains on fostering emerging talents. Notably, participants from various regions underscored the program's reach, transcending traditional boundaries.
However, questions regarding the efficacy of the talent hunt linger. Concerns over transparency and resource allocation raise doubts about the program's long-term impact. The absence of a substantial influx of new players casts a shadow over the initiative's objectives.
Critics argue that redirecting funds to established sports institutions could yield more tangible results. The lack of accountability within the current framework highlights systemic flaws, jeopardizing the future of sports development in the region.
As the nation grapples with these challenges, the need for holistic reform in sports governance becomes increasingly evident. Only through transparent and accountable measures can Pakistan realize its true sporting potential, nurturing a generation of champions.
