Delicious and tender smoked pulled pork with a flavorful rub, perfect for sandwiches or as a main dish. The slow smoking process enhances the pork's natural taste, creating a mouthwatering experience for BBQ enthusiasts.
Ingredients: 1 whole pork butt 6-8 lbs. 1/4 cup brown sugar. 1/4 cup paprika. 2 tablespoons black pepper. 2 tablespoons salt. 1 tablespoon garlic powder. 1 tablespoon onion powder. 1 tablespoon chili powder. 1 tablespoon cayenne pepper. Wood chips for smoking apple or hickory. BBQ sauce optional for serving.
Instructions: Remove any surplus fat from the pork butt, preserving a thin coating for taste. To make the rub, combine the brown sugar, paprika, cayenne, black pepper, salt, chili powder, garlic powder, and onion powder in a bowl. Distribute the spice mixture evenly over the entire surface of the pork butt. Allow it to marinate for four hours or overnight in the fridge. Set up your smoker to 225F 107C and add wood chips to it. Place the fat side of the marinated pork butt onto the smoker grates. The pork butt should be smoked for 1.5 to 2 hours per pound, or until the internal temperature reaches 195205 degrees Fahrenheit 9196 degrees Celsius. Throughout the cooking process, keep the temperature and smoke at a constant level. After it's finished, take the pork butt out of the smoker and give it a half hour to rest. To shred the smoked pork, use meat claws or forks. Along with your preferred sides and the optional BBQ sauce, serve the pulled pork on buns.
