The last year since the Great Calamity started was a true challenge for Purah. Too much fell on her shoulders: the trauma of her younger sister, the responsibility for the life of the fallen hero and the entire kingdom, and now two toddlers who did not give her peace for a second. Sometimes Purah managed to be alone, but then she had terrible nightmares in which a horribly mutilated Link pressed on her, begging for help, and she did not know what exactly she should do. At such moments, only Robbie's warm hugs helped her feel better.

Those who have been following this blog for a pretty long time probably remember my posts in which I mentioned fan fiction about the aftermath of the Great Calamity. So, this entry is an illustration of one of the scenes that I want to add there. I would like to tell you more about this fanfic, but everything has its time.

Three sentences about Robbie and Purah’s work life

"You blew it up!"

Purah shouted these words at her colleague Robbie on the regular, whether it be about ancient Sheikah terminals or the new towers she was working on; if Robbie was good at anything, it was causing dangerous explosions.

He would rush to deny that the explosions were his fault--old technology, bad equipment, even Purah was surely the culrpit--but she would shush him with a curt, "Quiet, old man," even though they were the same age in all aspects but appearance; one day, he vowed, he would undo her anti-aging and expose her wrinkles to the world.

Robbie: Why, because your name makes it alliterate?? That is outright discriminatory toward the etymologically incongruent!

Josha: Why don’t we call it the Purobbie Pad??

Purah: Eeew, that makes it sound like a ship name!

Zelda: The name “Sheikah Slate” worked perfectly fine for the base mechanism! Why not just call it Sheikah Slate 2.0?

Robbie: Numbers are boring. If we’re to market this thing eventually, it needs some pizzazz!

Purah: And “Robbie Pad” has pizzazz??

Josha: *turns to Link* Swordsman, I’m afraid you might have to be the neutral deciding factor here…!

Robbie: How in Hylia’s name is the Dongus Doohickey selling this well???

Once again, I decided to illustrate one of your ideas, @red-gekkouga. I really want to thank your discussions with Kellyn for being a great source of inspiration for me this year. Of course, I have my own Zelda AU, but I see all these ideas of yours, and I understand that they are worthy of implementation.

And here is the illustration for Kellyn's addition to this dialogue:

Purah: You'll have to pry him from my cold dead hands.

Robbie: Purah, no. Just get some sleep!

Purah: Says the one who has fainted in the lab multiple times before.

Robbie: Purah-

And thus begins trying to convince her that not holding Jakahl for an hour or so to sleep isn't bad.

It’s honestly kind of funny that the English translation of botw scrubbed pretty much all of the subtext that Purah and Robbie were ever a thing when you consider that they dialed up the romantic element of the Finley and Sasan sidequest so much. Like I need to know what was going on in Nintendo of America’s brain where a grown man and fish girl who looks like a child were prime romance fodder but purobbie was a line they wouldn’t cross

You know, Red, drawing your fankids was kinda fun, so I decided to do that again (moreover, it's almost a year since I got into PuRobbie thanks to you and the others)

Alright! Here he is! This is my little PuRobbie fankid, his name is Jakahl. Pronounced like the animal, and as @klw531 pointed out the name could be derived from jack fruit. That was an accident, but a happy one nonetheless.

This is my first time actually drawing a decent looking human, especially a baby. So please be kind with me. 🙏

When he’s older his hair will be fluffy because of genetics, (Seriously, Robbie what is going on with your hair?!) right now it’s just a little fluffy. He also inherits Robbie’s eye color.

Sorry it’s a bit blurry when you zoom in, I don’t have one of those really decent art programs. I use FireAlpaca and it just makes things blurry after exporting it as a PNG for some reason.
