7th Division Arc- Kokomi Reigen AU
Orignally, this was gonna be about the Teru's but then I realized that Teruki doesn't really interact much with Reigen
Ah, the Teru's. The reason I have to use both of these fucks full or first names when referring to them. To make this less annoying for me, I'm referring to Teruhashi as Kokomi and Teruki as Teru.
Kokomi meets Teru during the 7th division arc. Kokomi, in the time that since she had been hired, was extremely attached to her coworkers, and when Reigen tracked down Mob's location, she went with him. Despite Reigen's numerous protests that it might not be safe, Kokomi refused to budge and went with him anyways.
The whole claw confusing Reigen for their boss goes even better for two main reasons
Kokomi's natural glow, beauty and aura made it seem like she was a powerful psychic who was willingly listening to their random guy
Over month or two that she's been at Spirits and Stuff Consultation Office, and the weeks she's spent mainly around Reigen, she managed to hone one skill. The skill of 'Yes and'ing
So they see this powerful young psychic being like 'What? They really can't tell who you are' and were like 'Holy shit, this must be the boss and one of his right hands'.
(Reigen did not realize they were mistaking him for the boss. Kokomi absolutely did and had a field day with it.)
She meets them very briefly before they're attacked again and for the first time in her life, she's put in danger. Not the kind of danger that her brother brings but the kind that brings death or severe harm.
Unfortunately, Claw's upper echelon have no qualms about attempting to attack her alongside the rest of the cast. Half of them believe she's psychic and are enraged at her for taking 'the other side' and 'making herself look prettier while the rest of us suffered in society'. The other half think she's not psychic but are angry that someone so pretty exists in a sense.
(Remember, these people think society wronged them by existing and that they're above it. They're not happy to see someone 'normal' who has abnormal traits, Kokomi's beauty, that make her almost on the same level as them)
(It's kinda like incels to put it simply)
Luckily, Mob and Reigen make sure to protect her and Reigen ends up saving the day.
The arc ends with Kokomi realizing that her beauty doesn't necessarily mean she's unable to be hurt. The cosplayers psychics in Claw clearly thought she was beautiful but their own delusions made it so that they believed they were fully entitled to harm her. It also makes her think about her own morals and what it'd be like if she let her beauty go to her head like that.
She ends up asking Reigen if she's a good person. He tells her that if she has these types of doubts, she's already doing better than the Claw fucks.
He also tells her that he knows it takes effort for her to be kind to other sometimes, but she puts that effort in constantly. So yeah. He'd consider her a good person.

SCP#: ADM
Code Name: The Blue Demon
Object Class: Euclid
Special Containment Procedures: For whatever reason SCP-ADM seems to be restricted to the mansion it was discovered in. As such the entire area has been purchased by the Foundation. On the surface the Foundation has created a small suburban area near the mansion for the observation and research staff assigned there to live comfortably. Below the surface however is an underground Foundation area where they work and review research on SCP-ADM as well as catalogue its many variants.
Within the Foundation Area is an observation room that connects to the cameras within the mansion. These cameras are regularly maintained and replaced with new ones by AFA-2 units as sending regular staff is far too dangerous. As an added precaution a wall was constructed around the mansion just in case SCP-ADM ever escaped the mansion. Unfortunately, if SCP-ADM was to ever breach containment current Foundation weaponry does not have a lasting effect.
Description: SCP-ADM is a strange and possibly mutant humanoid that stands anywhere between 10 - 12ft tall. It has a purple-colored skin and misshaped face that leaves an uncomfortable feeling to those who look at it. SCP-ADM has a mouth that normally forms a smile but can stretch out to a large mouth filled with sharp teeth. The anomaly was discovered in [data expunged], Japan. SCP-ADM despite being able to, normally doesn't eat people whole and just kills them while leaving their physical body in a mostly good condition. The reason for this is to enact its secondary anomalous effect of infection.
When someone dies within the mansion SCP-ADM inhabits, they end up becoming an SCP-ADM-1 instance. SCP-ADM-1 instances are essentially clones of SCP-ADM that have a unique characteristic separating them from the original. Though there have been cases where SCP-ADM-1 instances end up as wrapped and grotesque versions of the original. Scans of the mansion have detected no anomalous particles or wavelengths so how this is even possible is unknown. Furthermore, SCP-ADM's origin or what happened to the original occupants who lived in the mansion before SCP-ADM's creation is unknown. Due to the massive size of the mansion, some key puzzles within the mansion, as well as cages within the basement it is believed they knew of SCP-ADM and kept him prisoner for an unknown reason and amount of time.
SCP-ADM was discovered in 2004 when a young student managed to escape at the cost of his three other friends dying by the hands of SCP-ADM. He reported to the police but tried to keep quiet about SCP-ADM thinking everyone would assume he was crazy. However, after local police went to the mansion to find the missing students only to not report back after 12 hours, the Foundation took action. Mobile Task Force Psi-7 "Home Improvement" was deployed to the area and discovered SCP-ADM though at the cost of half the squad.
Afterwards the Foundation found the boy Hiroshi and had him tell them everything about what happened in the mansion to better understand SCP-ADM. His contributions lead the Foundation to its successful containment of SCP-ADM and its increased understanding of it without the risk of more casualties. As such he was recruited into the Foundation for his Contributions as well as under Protocol "Sole Survivor". He now works as a Foundation Researcher within the Cryptozoology Division.

Rewrite the Stars
Spock was the son of a renowned Vulcan diplomat. He had graduated Starfleet Academy with honors and was now a decorated officer serving aboard one of the fleet’s flagships as both the head of its Science division and its second-in-command. Despite the lingering mistrust sometimes expressed by his fellow crew members, he was well-respected on the Enterprise…even liked.
Spock was also beginning to panic. His well-ordered mind was in turmoil.
He’d gone to Sickbay in search of Dr. McCoy but had found only the head nurse, Miss Chapel. Though she was a smart and lovely young woman to be sure, Spock hadn’t had time for small talk even if he’d had an aptitude for such things. Not when an unstable crewman, infected by whatever had killed six members of the science team they’d planned to pick up on Psi 2000, had cut off all their power. Now the ship was hurtling into the rapidly-disintegrating planet’s atmosphere. In half an hour, all four hundred of them would be dead unless the senior officers could regain control.
Nurse Chapel had by that time been exposed to the contagion as well. Scientist that he was, Spock should have considered the possibility before he ever left the Bridge. Instead, he was alone in Sickbay with a very different woman from the one he thought he knew. I’m in love with you, Mr. Spock, she’d said as she cradled his hands between her soft ones. He couldn’t question the sincerity of her words. Not only had he actually felt the affection radiating off of her, he’d seen it in her earnest blue eyes, too. A man could drown in those eyes, he thought. I love you just as you are. She lacked both any of the misgivings or residual prejudice towards Vulcans he frequently encountered among humans…and also all of her usual inhibitions. He knew that she would never have spoken these feelings aloud of her own accord. As someone who’d spent his entire life learning to control the powerful emotions some people thought Vulcans simply didn’t have, Spock ached for her.
But what had he said? I’m sorry. That was all. I’m sorry. Then he had run away from the lovelorn nurse as whatever biochemical agent that had compelled her to profess her love for him began to tear down his own mental walls. He’d run because he was afraid—of himself.
Now here he was, trembling and fighting back tears in a rec room. Part of his mind remained keenly aware of their dire reality. All he could think of, though, was of Nurse Chapel and of his mother. His soft-spoken, pretty human mother with her sweet smile and easy laugh… I’ll always love you, no matter where you go or what you do, Spock—I’ll always be proud of you. Hot tears welled up in Spock’s eyes. Had he ever told her that he loved her, too? That without her, he would not have survived his often-difficult childhood or had the courage to stand up to his father…?
And all he’d been able to choke out in reply to Nurse Chapel was I’m sorry!
He covered his face with his hands and sucked in a long, shuddering breath.

Today In History
Ernest E. Just, was a pioneering African-American biologist, academic and science writer. Just’s primary legacy is his recognition of the fundamental role of the cell surface in the development of organisms.
Just received the 1st NAACP Spingarn Medal on this date February 12, 1915 for his pioneering research on fertilization and cell division.
In his work within marine biology, cytology and parthenogenesis, he advocated the study of whole cells under normal conditions, rather than simply breaking them apart in a laboratory setting.
Ernest Just and three Howard University students (Edgar Amos Love, Oscar James Cooper, and Frank Coleman), established the Omega Psi Phi fraternity on the campus of Howard November 17, 1911.

Since I see you also like Psychonauts- have you also considered a LTWW Psychonauts au?
Obviously in this case the detective is part of the Psychonauts group- (maybe the old scientist guy is the head of whatever division the detective is in,) maybe the detectives speciality power is clairvoyancy. (Ofc if you have a better idea I’m all ears)
In this case their mission is to infiltrate the mind of a certain serial killer.. the only problem is, once inside Waldo’s mind, he isn’t so eager to let the detective out again…
(I imagine Waldo’s mind to be similar to the meat circus, just striped insanity. Whatever memory faults the detective finds are weird and confusing.)
Yeeeessss, a merger of my obsessions!
The Detective I see doing a powerful Psi-Blast and a past version of Clairvoyance, where they are able to see what happened with an object by touching it, an imperative ability for a psychic detective. I see him as being a division of the Psychonauts that works with local law enforcement to solve crimes on a larger scale.
Oh man, going into Waldo's mind is gonna be like that film, the Cell. One big trip that is possibly themed on elimination/death, morality/judgement, and clowns/grandiosity, so a deadly courtroom that's also a circus perhaps (or that game We Happy Few)? It will be extremely crowded regardless.
I think the twist will be that Waldo himself is psychic, and extremely powerful, enough that he's able to hide it and spring it on them. His powers would be Time Manipulation (in which he's able to make himself move really fast), a form of Mental Projection to create his doubles (extremely advanced, his doubles are perfect copies), Confusion/Hypnotism ala the Noodler, Invisibility (maybe) and the rare Teleportation.
Im trying now to imagine designs for them that would fit the Psychonauts' art style. The Detective is probably gonna look similar in design to Boyd Cooper, and Waldo is gonna be closer to looking like Dr. Loboto.
Imma have to draw this later...

Airborne - One of the Best Supporting Joes, and a Great American Indian Character
So, by now, I'm pretty sure everyone knows I love Airborne, at least if you typed #airborne, #gijoe airborne, or #gi joe airborne into my search engine. Admittedly, I first fell in love with the character through being a fan of Peter Cullen. He brought Airborne to life in a way that made the character approachable, endearing, and familiar to me, given he used a voice that, to my ears, sounded like a cross between Optimus and Ironhide.
But upon my (many) rewatches of Airborne's debut, Operation: Mind Menace, and his other guest star roles, I've come to love him for who he is as a character.
To summarize his history, Airborne, birth name Franklin Talltree, was born in the Navajo Nation. His parents were oil rich, often indulging him with skydiving lessons from a young age. Despite this love for the air he nurtured, Airborne, as he was later known, decided to at first (I believe) take classes to become a lawyer. He passed all the exams, and would've gone into the business except he didn't like the idea of signing legal papers day-in and day-out. Instead, he enlisted as an airborne infantryman/paratrooper in the Army, hence his call-sign when he transferred to G.I. Joe.
What really makes him stand out, especially compared to the more common Native representative Spirit, is how Airborne is such a fun personality. He makes jokes, he teases his fellow Joes, and often approaches life with a smile and a quip. It makes him feel down-to-Earth in a way that Spirit usually lacks [except Spirit's appearance in Sigma 6; that was a good spin on his usual characterization.] Seeing an American Indian with this relatable, relaxed manner about him makes Airborne stand out and feel like someone you could be comfortable around.
Despite his "normality", though, Airborne actually has a more serious side. One paired with a trait that Spirit seemingly lacks:
He has telepathic/ESP abilities.
Airborne has a younger brother, Tommy, who's roughly ten to twelve years younger than him, given that he was a teenager in Airborne's debut. Because of this strong familial tie, Airborne and Tommy share a psychic link that allows them to be aware of where the other is and what's happened to him. Additionally, Airborne can sometimes experience remote viewing, which allows him to see where a person - regardless of their personal meaning to him - is and what danger is threatening them. Obviously, this is a trait he keeps under wraps, as too much talking about it either "spooks people" (especially if he appears to be randomly staring right into your soul), will get him pulled into a psi-ops division rather than the frontlines, or have him become the target for some testing due to his powers and their unpredictability. It's no wonder why he hardly talks about his gifts.
Combining all of these traits, Airborne manages to be a fun, interesting, and friendly Navajo character. He's never seen being a "stereotype", or harping on his special shaman powers like Spirit does. Merely, he's an "ordinary Joe" who will get into the thick of a fight with his friends, or wrestle with them for grins and giggles. And if there's an apt joke to be made - whether about his powers or something else - you can bet your back pocket dollar Airborne will jump to make it first. He's just truly fun and underrated, and I wish we had more content with Airborne. He's one of a kind in the American Indian representation department, if you ask me, and I wish we had more guys like him in media, who's heritage just happened to be Native.
That's all I really have to say about him. Airborne deserves more love, especially since his old Wikipedia file has been deleted. I hope you enjoyed this, and that it inspires any artists who find it interesting to draw him some more.
Til then -
"Yooooooo, Joe!!!"

can we have... all the etymology
All of the characters on my toyhouse should have etymologies for their names and middle names, so check there for those. Aside from that, some interesting ones include:
ColdR: “Cold air”, gives a vaguely sci-fi feel. As the title of the game itself, it refers to the prevalence of ice in the game’s mechanics and worldbuilding.
HotR: “Hot air”, matches ColdR
World of Zero: “Zero” brings to mind a void, and comes from such terms as "subzero" and "absolute zero". “World” here refers to a realm, not a literal world. The “World of Zero” is found below the regular “World”, which could be considered “1” in this scenario.
World of Infinity: The opposite of the “World of Zero”. If Absolute Zero is the coldest temperature, then the hottest temperature is infinite. The World of Infinity’s status as being accessed from Zero portals within the World of Zero is inspired by “division by zero” and the impossible paradox it causes. It is also themed after “integer underflow”, a programming quirk that occurs when trying to go below the lowest number possible in a given program - causing it to “underflow” to the highest number instead, which in this case is “Infinity”.
Many family names are named after programming languages, or other programming terms, while many first names are named after sea animals. This creates a feel of thematic consistency and also reflects on the series' themes of environmentalism and technology. Some notable family names include:
Nothyp: Python backwards.
Clua: C + Lua, brings to mind a cold and icy image, alliterates with Cold(R) and Coralde
Scripte: Originally was "Avascuript", from JavaScript, but it felt like a mouthful so it was shortened, with an E added for the French feel.
Hetamel: HTML. Feels kind of wet.
Unixell: From Unix and Excel.
Soluta: A play on “Clua”; if “Clua” is a “Clue”, then “Soluta” is the “Solution”.
Visbaze: From “visual basic” programming language. “Viz” includes an “ice”-like sound.
Wada: Japanese family name that means “harmonious rice paddy”, which doesn’t really pertain to the character it's on but suggests she has Japanese ancestry. Contains the programming language “Ada”.
Psysol: From “psy” and “sol”, as in sun, alluding to the character’s psychic fire powers. Also sounds like “solitude”, giving the impression Iolas is a loner.
Lascap: Anagram of “Pascal”, a programming language. Alliterates with Lybia, the name of the most important Lascap.
PSI Age: Evokes the idea of a new time period, and puts immediate emphasis on the importance of PSI to the setting. Also, if ColdR Prime was the “ice age”, then this is the “PSI age”.
Devil's Darning Needle: “Devil’s darning needle” is an alternate name for the stickbug, which XXX physically resembles with her tall and gangly physique. Devil gives the impression of a rebellious and/or gothic person, while darning needles refer to her knitting passion. It also evokes the idea of her “piercing” through the Sectors. The connection with needles and knitting also brings to mind puppetry. XXX herself has been used as a “puppet” by various people through her life, ranging from ???, to !!!, to her current situation with the Sectors.
Cradlelands: The Cradlelands are an isolated place, like a “cradle” for the people living in them. It is also a very “primal” kind of place, giving a sense of, say, “humanity’s cradle”; and for Erco III and co, it is seen as a place of origin; a place that feels like home. One could also link it to how Berceuse takes care of her subjects; very protectively, as someone would cradle their child. And, well, they’re lands. So, Cradlelands. It’s meant to give the idea of a vaster, uncharted place, that one may want to explore. It’s home, but much is unknown about it, and they want to know more.
Alright let's get into the stuff yall will actually eat up.
Emperor Berceuse: “Berceuse” means “lullaby”, and in French also refers to a rocking motion. This overall ties into the same sort of themes and aesthetics you would get from “cradle”. It also fits the intense care she provides towards Nester, and later her subjects in the Cradlelands.
Notably, both she and Erco share an “Erc”. Berceuse also ends in an “Eus” sound, which brings to mind the likes of “Zeus”, “Deus” and other words associated with divinity, helping create the impression of a figure bearing incredible power.
“Emperor” is added to the title to give the impression of a highly powerful, outright tyrannical ruler. It is used instead of “Empress” due to it suiting Berceuse’s overall image better; Berceuse, as far as ruling goes, is very gender-neutral and does not place any emphasis on her femininity. (Also, it helps make her seem less like a person and more like some kind of mythical force; and her identity may originally have been a secret, and she is still intended to leave much of her past shrouded in mystery in-universe.) It is also a name that could fit well in a fantasy masquerade, while also suiting a more science-fantasy type of antagonist.
Daemon: “Daemon” is a word for a program that runs as a background process in computing; Daemon, too, is essentially responsible for handing much of the background tasks for the Berceuse Empire in her sister’s stead; it being tied to technology helps make Daemon appear as a very mechanical and scientific type of character.
Yet it also has many fantasy connotations. A daemon in greek mythology was a type of guiding spirit, which she could be considered to be towards Berceuse; almost like some kind of guardian angel (which she visually resembles with her wings). And yet, at the same time, it also refers to demons. A common motif with Daemon is that she is an “angel” towards some and a “devil” towards other; and even her name suits this.
Berceuse Empire: Since Berceuse is an Emperor, it is logical that what she rules would be an Empire. Since much of it centers around her and her image, it is named directly after herself. It also gives the image of an oppressive, regimented kingdom, fitting her tyranny and conquering.
Aye-aye: From “Erco II”, or specifically the “II” part at the end, which, when spelled separately (as it is intended to be), sounds like “Aye aye”. Also comes from the animal, which she has some features in common with, such as her “ears” or her orange visor. Since it’s an animal’s name, it also gives a bit of a wild or animalistic image, which suits her.
It also creates an opportunity for wordplay; as she is a captain to some rebel groups, one could imagine people saying “Aye-aye, captain”; which could both be an expression of agreement with her, or a description of her. The fact that it sounds like an agreement specifically may also give the idea that it is difficult to disagree with her.
Aion: From “Erco I”, specifically the “I”, and the Greek deity “Aion”, who is a deity representing the cycle of time; Aion, of course, happens to have time powers, and it being a deity gives Aion a cool and strong image. Aion representing cycles also ties into OUROBOROS, which Aion has notable ties to.
Aia: From “Amonea I” and Aion; essentially being a feminine version of his own name. Aia’s design looks particularly mythical, as well, and her design is reminiscent of a spartan outfit, continuing the Greek theme.
OUROBOROS: From the name of the ancient symbol, which is often used to represent cycles; and OUROBOROS, or at least the form seen so far, is symbolic of the cycle of pain Ophione and Astralde go through. The symbol also specifically depicts a snake, which Ophione is already symbolized with (And Ophione is actually aware of OUROBOROS, unlike Astralde.) OUROBOROS being in all caps is something not seen often in ColdR (or Sekaiju), which helps give the impression that it is a level above other entities seen in the former (and most in the later).
Dogma of Self: Represents the ultimate expression of the self and the ego; a power so strong it is imposed onto others. In other words, a “Dogma” representing the “Self”. It is achieved when one fully realizes their own independence and individuality; when no one but themselves is determining who they are; when the only one making “Dogmas” about their identity is themselves. Finally, “Dogma of Selves” tend to involve abilities so powerful they practically change the rules of reality; shifting the “dogmas” of reality to the “dogmas” of the self.

WELCOME!
🧠🧠🧠🧠🧠🧠🧠🧠🧠🧠
The Psychonauts Battle Royale consists of 64 characters and will take place over 6 rounds! Round One will be set to last a week as I gain traction, but later rounds may be shorter (let me know what you think!)
I chose characters (with only a few small exceptions) that exist only in the real world and are not exclusive to mental worlds, just to keep character divisions more clear! Did my absolute best to seed the poll interestingly and decently fair, but go easy on me, I've never done any big polls before!
I have already set everything up so I won't be taking any requests or changes to the bracket at this point, just go with what you see! The list of characters has been placed below the cut for your viewing pleasure.
Feel free to send asks and talk to me about the polls, reblog them, send them around, etc.!!! I'm excited to see what some of these results will be!
{ Reblogs of this post to spread the word are appreciated! }

Something I find interesting about anti-mythos organizations in the wider Call of Cthulhu / Delta Green universe is that almost none of them are, strictly speaking, "good".
Delta Green is an illegal organization within the US military with zero oversight, which was forced underground due to human rights violations during the Vietnam war.
GRU-SV8 is like the KGB, but less evil and with much less funding. Section Disparu is pretty much the same thing, but french.
PISCES is compromised by the Shans, and Majestic-12 is compromised by the Mi-Go. Any good they do is counterbalanced by the evil they commit on the behalf of their masters.
M-EPIC has a bad history with native american tribes.
The Swords of Sneferu and the Army of the Third Eye are actual terrorist organizations, with the Swords of Sneferu in particular canonically being behind a number of major terrorist groups in the middle east, like Al Qaeda and Hezbollah.
The Swords of Saint Jerome (AKA "The Congregation) are generally pretty well-behaved due to their policy of compartmentalizing mythos knowledge and only distributing it on a need-to-know basis, but they have collected enough of it that agents who are compromised get corrupted FAST and very quickly become terrorists.
The Dawn are pretty much insane to the point of being useless outside of Tibet.
Yotsubishi Psi-Mech Division is trying to integrate mythos magic and alien tech into human society, which could prove disastrous for the entire world if they screw it up (which is especially likely since mythos tech has a tendency to drive regular humans mad).
Saucerwatch and Phenom-X are all composed of genuinely good and peaceful people devoted to uncovering government conspiracies that put civilians at risk, but the secrets they are trying to make common knowledge are essentially congnitohazards that could cause actual psychological damage and mass panic if they got out.
and yet compared to the groups they fight, all of these guys come off as borderline saints.

Because @ghostlyvisage prompted me:
Tyrant!(Bayverse) Jazz headcanons. I have two different ones for two different outcomes- depending on the "good" end, or the one that actually happened. So, we'll call them Gverse, and Averse:
Putting this under a cut, this is gonna get long:
Basic Demographic information:
Designation: Jazz, though in Cybertronian his name roughly translates to "Improvisational Style of Sound." Music, as humans term it, is very different for Cybertronians.
Height: Four microns above Mini-bot status, but several deca-crons under "statistically average" height. In human measurements: 3 meters or 15 ft (if you go for imperial units.)
Weight Class: Scout/Mid-range [according to the Marvel UK annual of 1984- he's roundabout 1.8 tons, or 1,632.93kg]
Alt-mode: Terran: 2017 Porsch Boxster Spyder Cybertronian: Slim-line velocity-sync speedster. With.... some non-standard modifications.
Root-mode: Mid-range height small, strong frame with two sets of upper limbs, and one set below the pelvic girdle. All four arms end in a terminus of six claws- four fingers, with a thumb on each side. The feet or pedes, as they're termed- end in three claws. Situated at the center of the base of each pede, and in the palms of all four grasping appendages are strong electromagnets.
Locomotion is fairly hominid standard- with Jazz walking on the lower two limbs, and only engaging in the secondary set of "arms" when he's doing fine or detail work. They're also useful for climbing, grasping- and on the very rare occasion when the sharp recurved talons are unsheathed- ripping.
A visor covers four optical lenses- two upper with a smaller set situated just beneath. The upper set is used for linear vision, while the second set can see in a variety of different spectrums- including thermal, and ultra-violet.
Soft, malleable metalmesh lips cover a rather terrifying amount of sharp tearing dentae. They're sharp enough to tear through metal, and into the soft protoform underneath- with a tensile jaw strength of well over 22-24K PSI.
Only one person ever tested this, but then again- it WAS Lennox.
Basal color schema is reflective silver and black protoform, though the electrophores that his nanites create and carry can elicit a chromata-shift to match his surroundings, and occasionally- if he goes motionless enough, the light refracting from these nanites renders him a hole in the air.
Visibly undetectable, unless you know what you're looking for.
=================
G:Verse (or the Good verse)
================= In this verse, Jazz's life does not end at Mission City. Instead, he is found by Ratchet to still be functioning despite the complete and utter division of his frame. Thanks to the Decepticons they DID manage to deactivate (and also Megatron)- they were able to scavenge enough Cybertronium with a trillium forge in order to patch his wounds.
It took more time, and more scavenging from the dead Decepticons to mint new lines, wires, conductive struts, and eventually to let the protoform recolonize it. He'd spent months convalescing and download things off the internet to get a good bead on human culture.
In this verse, he befriends several humans- and keeps his integrity and trust of Optimus Prime, and maintains his ranking as Second-in-Command and lieutenant until Prowl shows up with Sunstreaker and Sideswipe.
At that point, he'd happily stepped aside and welcomed his companions to their new home until they can get Cybertron restored.
=================
A-Verse (or the Actual Verse-AKA, follows the events of 2007 movie)
=================
Jazz... does not wake up in time enough for Ratchet to realize there's still a spark beat. This Jazz wakes up at the very bottom of the Marianas Trench, pushed down by the weight of the water and gravity and surrounded by the corpses of enemies.
And the wreckage of humanity.
This Jazz survives by cannibalizing the dead frames around him, using pieces of their armor to patch up torn wires and torn lines. He becomes more monster than mech, more sparkeater than Autobot. The salt causes constant corrosion, which keeps him in constant pain. He's half mad with it, but still hopeful that he'll be found. That they'll read his spark signature. That they haven't forgotten him.
That does not happen.
It takes Jazz nearly a full human year to climb up from the Challenger Deep, and another two or three years to make it to dry land. He manages to come ashore on Guam, and ravages the American base there- tearing apart aircraft and consuming it before disappearing into the thick brush.
He becomes a spook, the stories told around campfires and propane lanterns. He becomes the four eyes in the darkness that shines back when the moon is new. Decepticons, those still on the planet, become terrified.. something's hunting them, something not human.
Something Cybertronian, but not- drones go missing, their chests torn and their protomass and energon siphoned. Eventually, grunts go missing too. The pathway is ever winding towards Diego Garcia. Even Megatron, on his return- says nothing about what it could be, though there's something haunted in his optics. Something beyond the War, and his own death and rebirth.
Somewhere, a ghost stalks- watching, waiting.
Hunting.

reading up about neutron bombs and i'm thoroughly impressed at how completely bat shit evil this stuff was.
what the fuck was NATO thinking incorporating this as the basis of their strategy in "defending" west germany?
A neutron bomb, officially defined as a type of enhanced radiation weapon (ERW), is a low-yield thermonuclear weapon designed to maximize lethal neutron radiation in the immediate vicinity of the blast while minimizing the physical power of the blast itself...
By designing the thermonuclear stage of the weapon carefully, the neutron burst can be maximized while minimizing the blast itself. This makes the lethal radius of the neutron burst greater than that of the explosion itself. Since the neutrons are absorbed or decay rapidly, such a burst over an enemy column would kill the crews but leave the area able to be quickly reoccupied. Compared to a pure fission bomb with an identical explosive yield, a neutron bomb would emit about ten times the amount of neutron radiation. In a fission bomb, at sea level, the total radiation pulse energy which is composed of both gamma rays and neutrons is approximately 5% of the entire energy released; in neutron bombs, it would be closer to 40%, with the percentage increase coming from the higher production of neutrons...
Considerable controversy arose in the US and Western Europe following a June 1977 Washington Post exposé describing US government plans to equip US Armed Forces with neutron bombs. The article focused on the fact that it was the first weapon specifically intended to kill humans with radiation. Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory director Harold Brown and Soviet General Secretary Leonid Brezhnev both described neutron bombs as a "capitalist bomb", because it was designed to destroy people while preserving property.
Upon detonation, a near-ground airburst of a 1-kiloton neutron bomb would produce a large blast wave and a powerful pulse of both thermal radiation and ionizing radiation in the form of fast (14.1 MeV) neutrons. The thermal pulse would cause third degree burns to unprotected skin out to approximately 500 meters. The blast would create pressures of at least 4.6 psi (32 kPa) out to a radius of 600 meters, which would severely damage all non-reinforced concrete structures. At the conventional effective combat range against modern main battle tanks and armored personnel carriers (< 690–900 m), the blast from a 1 kt neutron bomb would destroy or damage to the point of nonusability almost all un-reinforced civilian buildings...
Using neutron bombs to stop an enemy armored attack by rapidly incapacitating crews with a dose of 80+ Gy of radiation would require exploding large numbers of them to blanket the enemy forces, destroying all normal civilian buildings within c. 600 meters of the immediate area. Neutron activation from the explosions could make many building materials in the city radioactive, such as galvanized steel (see area denial use below)...
The pulse of neutron radiation would cause immediate and permanent incapacitation to unprotected outdoor humans in the open out to 900 meters, with death occurring in one or two days. The median lethal dose (LD50) of 6 Gray would extend to between 1350 and 1400 meters for those unprotected and outdoors, where approximately half of those exposed would die of radiation sickness after several weeks....
I wonder who was behind the development of these?
The concept was originally developed by the United States in the late 1950s and early 1960s. It was seen as a "cleaner" bomb for use against massed Soviet armored divisions. As these would be used over allied nations, notably West Germany, the reduced blast damage was seen as an important advantage...
The weapon was once again proposed for tactical use by the United States in the 1970s and 1980s, and production of the W70 began for the MGM-52 Lance in 1981. This time, it led to protests as the growing anti-nuclear movement gained strength through this period. Opposition was so intense that European leaders refused to accept it on their territory. US President Ronald Reagan ordered the production of the W70-3, which remained in the US stockpile until they were retired in 1992. The last W70 was dismantled in February 1996...
President Carter delayed development of the neutron bomb in 1978, but during Ronald Reagan's presidency, Cohen claims to have convinced Reagan to make 700 neutron bombs, 350 shells to go into the 8 inch (200-millimeter) howitzer and 350 W70 Mod. 3 warheads for the Lance missile...
In much the same fashion as the area denial effect resulting from fission product (the substances that make up most fallout) contamination in an area following a conventional surface-burst nuclear explosion, as considered in the Korean War by Douglas MacArthur, it would thus be a form of radiological warfare—with the difference that neutron bombs produce half, or less, of the quantity of fission products relative to the same-yield pure fission bomb.
In November 2012, British Labour peer Lord Gilbert suggested that multiple enhanced radiation reduced blast (ERRB) warheads could be detonated in the mountain region of the Afghanistan-Pakistan border to prevent infiltration. He proposed to warn the inhabitants to evacuate, then irradiate the area, making it unusable and impassable. Used in this manner, the neutron bomb(s), regardless of burst height, would release neutron activated casing materials used in the bomb, and depending on burst height, create radioactive soil activation products.
In much the same fashion as the area denial effect resulting from fission product fallout contamination in an area following a conventional surface-burst nuclear explosion, as considered in the Korean War by Douglas MacArthur, it would thus be a form of radiological warfare—with the difference that neutron bombs produce half, or less, of the quantity of fission products relative to the same-yield pure fission bomb. Radiological warfare with neutron bombs that rely on fission primaries would thus still produce fission fallout.
Meanwhile, the strategic doctrine of the Warsaw Pact:
Rather than making extensive preparations for battlefield nuclear combat in Central Europe, the Soviet military leadership believed that conventional superiority provided the Warsaw Pact with the means to approximate the effects of nuclear weapons and achieve victory in Europe without resort to those weapons.
No wonder Wessies were so up in arms and were protesting about America deploying even more nuclear weapons on their soil. They were never considered to be anything more than a speedbump against the USSR.

Today In History Ernest E. Just, was a pioneering African-American biologist, academic and science writer. Just's primary legacy is his recognition of the fundamental role of the cell surface in the development of organisms.
