Here’s the thing. And I have talked at length with @bassband with this and they concur. I would LOVE to hang out with Dan and Phil individually. Like. Going to a farmers market or an arts fair with Phil is a dream. Getting coffee and talking shit with Dan is a dream. But you could not PAY ME to hang out with them both at the same time. They are literally the worst couple you know. They are all over each other. They speak exclusively in inside jokes and their fucked up little language that only the two of them know. They are stupidly in love and they make it everyone’s problem. The poor fools who have to share a tour bus with them deserve a goddamn Purple Heart. Stronger than any US marine fr.

Tony stands atop the mansion as the sun begins to set. The last of the sun's rays caressing his face with a fading warmth, drying his tear-soaked cheeks.

Despite the burn behind his eyes, he faces the sunset. Waiting.

The sun brushes the horizon, and he appears. Bathed in gold light.

His soulmate.

Tony reaches out, unable to stop himself. He never has. That's always been his problem.

His fingers fall through the apparition, barely disturbing the light, less like toughing your reflection in water and more like reaching into a mirror.

The vision never says anything, but he looks proud. But how? He doesn't know Tony. They've never met.

He always thought that having Captain America as a soulmate meant he was destined to be a hero. Now, he isn't so sure.

The Avengers were falling apart. Have fallen apart. They barely lasted a month.

Maybe he was wrong about all of this.

Wrong about the Avengers.

Wrong that he was a hero.

Maybe the other half to Cap he was meant to play was a villain.

Cap brushes a blue rose of ice behind his ear that'll melt by the time the sun has sunk behind the horizon.
