Listen people FULL disclosure I LOVE watercolors, it's my favorite medium, growing up the paintings in our house that I liked the most were the watercolors ones.

FULLER disclosure I'm TERRIBLE at it, always had been, although a recent realization allowed me to understand that not having access to watercolor paper as a kid prooooobably didn’t help little me when I kept wreaking the A4 printer paper with my brush and artistic endeavors, but oh well live and learn, even if that lesson took a decade to sink in.

FULLEST of disclosures, I broke my laptop 💻 yes yes I know very sad, I suppose beds and laptops weren't meant to mingle FYI, no matter how inviting the sheets may seem. Short end of the story I'm computerless for the foreseeable future, and in an effort to escape "ₜₕₑ ᵥₒᵢcₑₛ " I dusted off Le old art supplies, just as well, since KYPRISH just reach chapter 100 of their amazing fanfic Mask within Mask, have you read it ? Well ? You should, it's great, it's going places, at some point it will reach wherever it is that it's headed.

I fully recommend it, it has a bunch of properties interwoven seamlessly, give it a go.

I learned a lot about the nesting habits of sea turtles from christine figgener's "my life with sea turtles." that's bc it's hard to study anything else about sea turtle lifestyles since they're out in the ocean the rest of the time. ms figgener is arguably the person who started the plastic straw panic of the past ten years by posting a video of a sea turtle with a plastic straw stuck up its nose. she's been working with sea turtles in Costa Rica for most of her professional life so she has a lot to say about them but also a little about the outdated colonial thought that pervades the conservation world and the poor treatment of women in science. if you have any interest in sea turtles check it out. my two semi-joking complaints are that her combination of science and memoir is pretty clumsy in a funny way and for some reason she describes people coming together to protect turtles as "dumbledore's army"

also we have to talk about how big leatherback sea turtles are. wtf

"ice" by amy brady is a really good book about a somewhat strange subject. ms brady tracks the history of commercial ice use in the United States, from the first guy to make an ice machine down in florida to the utah olympic oval where 100 world records in speed skating have been set. I don't think about ice much beyond putting it in my drinks but this book has opened my mind to its fascinating history and many uses. a guy named frederic tudor tried to sell ice from boston to the Caribbean in 1806 but everyone there was like wtf and he had to give it away to cafe owners for free to convince them their customers would like cold drinks. modern cocktail geeks are making their own ice in huge blocks and chipping it down to get the exact right size and shapes for their drinks. therapeutic hypothermia and cryosurgery use ice in medicine, medicinal hypothermia since the late 1930s. plus there's the fact that even people who study ice don't entirely understand the properties that make it so slippery. I really recommend this book to learn the surprisingly crazy history of ice

Thanks for saying hello. In my part of the world we have invasive Himalayan blackberries and birds poop their seeds all over the place, especially when they sit on fences. Any unmaintained fence in the sun will be overgrown with them in a matter of time. There is a wire fence on the property edge and they grew there- I didn't plan it.

I am not sure if I have any good advice for you being in Costa Rica about a living fence. Perhaps there is a gardening group there that could help?

Make More Altars of Beauty—I used to do this when I lived in Atlanta and Cali, and yes those of healing mosquito bites from Tuscany. Plus how are you going to be a real life fairy and not be bitten by mosquitoes 🥰🫀🥰

What you don’t see in this video was a child walked up to the altar and talked to, sung to, and played with the flowers then took one. It was so super cute and I was peaking, blushing, and awww-ing. That sweet child.

I used to be a caregiver to a 4 year girl and I had my own cottage house on their property and one day she walked into my house in all her sass unannounced as resins and incenses were burning and the altars lit with candles and screamed a big loud scream “Auntie Indiaaaaa, it looks like a church in hereeee.” It was the most beautiful thing ever. 😅😅😂🌺🌹🌸💐🌻

And the refinement, detail, architecture and deep sense feeling of some churches are supremely beautiful especially those historical ones in places like Italy and GA. I have always wanted to sneak into a church and share the depth of intimacy in it. Omg! Of course no surprise. 😅

I have been secretly making altars of beauty all over the world since I lived in Atlanta back in 2010. I made altars of beauty many spaces and places including Iowa, Cali, Puerto Rico, Mexico, Bali, Greece, Costa Rica, Thailand, Italy, Brazil, and of course Amsterdam.

I never tell anyone, not even the Charming Lover💐. I just walk pass the altar and would be like “ooooh look, how pretty.” It was my secret covenant between me and the universe, me and God/dess.

I really want to say More altars of beauty, simple beauty, not the big ball gowns and shiny stuff, please. Our world needs to make contact with the direct power of real beauty. 😘And those mosquito bites from Italy—they will be gone soon🥲. A time was had fairying out —and you can’t be a fairy and not have mosquito bites ha!

I like having this little quiet secret covenant kept tucked 🥹but if 1 person is inspired to make a secret altar of beauty in their neighborhood or environment today, my god, how beautiful.

I know that love is enough to save us. And that the depth of raw beauty is one greatest portals and gateways. As I love to say ��where there is beauty, there is God.”
