1930s Horror Film Posters
This was a huge project, and now they're finally all together: A collection of 10 posters for horror movies from the 1930s - with a personal, legally distinct twist! Having my legacy feature actors in the 1930s gave me the perfect idea for Simblreen. Horror movies (especially monster movies) were a huge genre in that decade, so I just had to make my characters star in some of the most famous ones. The text is entirely in Simlish, but the (main) actor names have been changed to the ones of the sims shown on the respective poster, while the others names are the same. Also, whenever a studio is credited, I've changed it to the Plumbob Studio.
bgc
4 swatches each (bg poster frame colours)
custom thumbnails
merged, zipped and separate files to pick and choose from
DOWNLOAD [sfs] (alt. link [gdrive])
Disclaimer: If you've previously found and downloaded the Mummy poster, please redownload, as I've noticed an editing mistake, which has been fixed now.
Comparisons between the original posters vs. mine below.

i feel like the infantilization of lisa throughout the movie was very very real. coming from someone who did deal with being outcasted due to their oddness and mental instability i did deal often with my peers treating me like i was younger than them, acting like i wasn't smart and i saw myself in lisa during those moments. for example, michael and doug calling lisa "kid" or "kiddo" when talking to her or her dad not taking her seriously when showing obvious signs that things are getting worse for her. i often see the adults treating her like a misbehaving child who wants attention instead of a person going through a very rough time in life. they only cared when she passed away. something about the only good victim being a dead one etc.

I definitely think there's Something (TM) to say about the portrayal of "off-human" characters in modern media adaptations as having (particularly facial) deformities and/or learning disabilities.
Robert Louis Stevenson was fully like "this is my OC, Hyde, who represents the impact of a complete apathy toward your fellow man. There is nothing extraordinary about him except that his rancid vibes make people uncomfortable which adds to the core theme of the role of morality in humanity, so its really important that he's physically normal so the audience can recognise that it's what's inside that's most important," and every film adaptation was like "mmkay. Yeah, no, I've got it. We can show that he's evil by using prosthetics and making him non/semi-verbal, which, as we all know, are the True Measures of Evil."

Dating Lisa Would Include
Tumblr media
Lisa loves keeping momentos: ticket stubs, notes, pressed flowers, cool rocks anything she can associate with you goes on her wall or in a box forever
Will spend days working on a gift. Something no one else has and never will because its yours.
Becomes much more touchy feely when she goes through mute stages like she's worried you'll forget shes here.
Chocolate milk is her cheer up drink even if its cold out
You picnic in graveyards together and make up stories about the people there
You made up a game for when either of you starts anxious rambling. Where you'll throw a snack in each others mouth. It's surprisingly effective
She does a happy little wiggle when she's excited
Tries to write you love poetry but has a hard time writing now that she's not so lonely. You collect every discarded page
She likes recreating stuff from "dumb rom coms" ironically but sometimes you'll keep doing it for real
Loves giving lots of little kisses to make you giggle
Absolutely convinces you to wear vials of each other's blood
She is the fucking worst blanket hog

I feel like, if you know you know for this post, but-
I feel like a young Dr. Easterman would be very, Victor Frankenstein-esk, in how he went about things.
And how he looked.
Kinda like this.
Tumblr media
(Art credit is @/kyuwko on X and kyuwkuo on Instagram!)
White streak from stress of his early days working on Prject Lathe, the threats of violence when he didn't comply.
How skinny he was, slender and tall.
Especially with how people draw him as he gets older, since he has no really canon "look."
Working on the same drugs that he'd use on the reagents later on.
I feel like he was young, and charismatic, of course. Handsome, and used his attractiveness as a lure.
Before his brother and wife, at least.
Went to nice parties and pyschology symposiums.
Victor Frankenstein-esk.
Still cruel, but somehow kind.
The parallels between they are so similar, from the book's version of Victor at least. I can't help but feel like they'd look similar with the mad scientist aspect especially.
That's how I imagine young Easterman to look. Rugged. Messy hair. Blood on his gloves at random. Eye bags the size of a duffle bag. Glasses before he corrected his vision somehow.
Does anyone get what I mean?

I’m really curious, does anyone know about any romance novels that feature a mad scientist as the love interest? Can be Frankenstein inspired or not. Preferably ones where the mad scientist is at least a little evil.
