It's actually so encouraging to see the work I've been doing on myself paying off

I worked on something fun today!

So, unlike a lot of classic Mega Man games, I'm going to have some dialogue between characters (especially Roll and the various robot masters, but there's others too). I'm not going to be super annoying and make everyone read a ton of words, which some games do and to a degree that isn't really fun, but also there's enough plot that I think written dialogue is the best way to do it.

In the style of plenty of other inspiring games, I'm going to do the thing where every letter plays a sound as it appears, so I spent a chunk of today in Famitracker making voice sound effects for every character with a speaking part. They're all distinct, two-note, two-instrument chords, based off of their related ingame musical tracks, and as a result they'll all sound right at home in their own stages.

Everyone with a speaking part also has a unique color of dialogue box, because why not, right?

This is actually one of the last things I needed for the intro sequence, which I'm hoping to begin the actual programming on tomorrow! When everything is done and working, I'm going to record a video, so keep an eye out for it soon.

Woo! Managed to draw 9x from January to (early) March. I feel like I’m getting real comfy and fast with the tools and techniques. 🥰 My goal is still to be able to draw body/anatomy and clothing/fabric completely on my own someday. Realistically might be years long of a journey tbh lol

I'm currently at that point in the writing of the last chapter of Roll the Bones where I'm fighting the reins. The last stretch of the big scene is right there in front of me, but actually getting it out of my head and onto the screen is a battle against that thing that makes endings hard. So, basically, I'll have the chapter finished sometime today and be ready to move on to editing all of it. 😂
