Apply for NCT Young Theatre Director Programme

National Children’s Theatre (NCT) is seeking 4 fresh, energetic graduates who want to build their experience as directors, funded by Department of Arts and Culture.

NCT Young Theatre Director Programme

NCT is providing an opportunity for aspiring young directors to gain experience under the mentorship of the CEO and Artistic Director of NCT. Each young director will be required to direct a one-act production with a group of 5-7 children, selected from our Saturday morning workshoppers. Last year the Young Directors selected stories by Gcina Mhlophe. This year the Young Directors may choose their own South African story – or write one themselves.

Rehearsals will take place on Saturday afternoons 2:30 – 4:30 starting in mid-August and running for approximately 8-10 weeks. mailto:moira@nctt.org.za Successful young directors will be required to attend pre-production meetings.

The final product will be showcased in our box theatre in front of invited guests. If successful, we may add additional public performances.

If you have a post-graduate degree or diploma in drama/musical theatre/directing and are passionate about children and nurturing young talent, as well as showing off your skills as a director, please submit a CV and short motivation to moira@nctt.org.za

Please note that this is a learning opportunity, similar to an internship, and may result in further work in the future.

Applications should be received by no later than Wednesday 27 July 2017. Successful applicants will be advised of an interview. If you do not hear from us by 15 August 2017, consider your application as unsuccessful.
