The dreams of those who came before us seemed so far away. In Africa, the winds whispered of the expansion of private military companies, acting on behalf of governments and corporations. The endless desert and savannas echoed with the sounds of Armstrong's rise, of soldiers in battle, and of wealth creation. As the world looked on, in silent awe, the mystery of what was taking root in Africa slowly began to unravel. The truth of what was happening behind closed doors sighed in the dark of night, as a new era began.

in my mind Tanya is like one of those dog breeds that in the past were selectively bred to do work and now go stir crazy when they have nothing to do bc instincts demand they be doing Job
she absolutely needs to be useful. it is vital for her self image and the preservation of her ego.
sure she wanted that Job to be Boring Paperwork originally, but also as the books go on it kinda seems like she knows that ship has sailed and she’s stuck as a frontline commander. so Job is now aerial combat.
and after the war this outlet to be useful is no longer allowed and she probably gets antsy
anyway that’s why u need to bring Tanya to laser tag or paintball or something for enrichment post-war so she can get some excess energy out

(the purpose of the bayonett)
what is the purpose of the bayonett?
You pretend that they don’t know,
while it sits meaningfully in the corner, leaning on the wall.
Don’t you know that if you keep these weapons,
you will in time be forced to justify them?
Come up with some reason why you’re keeping,
why you’re spending all the money on these,
and not, who knows what. Bike Lanes. Student Loans. Healthcare.
Anything that is kept will in time seek to justify itself.
Drumming up fear – the atom bomb sits at the negotiationg table.
don’t you think,
that if you keep on hoarding all these weapons,
in time there will come a day where they may be used?
si vis pacem,
parabellum straight to the head and shoot
all the ones lined up.
And no, they will not learn from it,
it will not be some last time or mean anything in particular,
not the blood you bleed,
and not the blood you shed.
Poison rain sulphur phosphorus burn,
scorching holes in the flesh to the bone,
swiss cheese of moonscape relief,
buildings blending and melting and twisting until you can’t discern up our down,
flesh coating the walls.
Folding into -
swiftly to hell in a handbasket.
Thermobaric poor man’s nuke,
fallout acid rain in long-poisoned bays.
Maimed lived with no hope that yet screech to live.
What is the purpose of the bayonett?
It is the purpose that it’s always been.
What is the purpose of the bayonett?
The purpose of the bayonett is to

This advice might save your life: 1. Don't make small talk with cops. It makes ZERO difference if you have "nothing to hide." 2. Don't trust cops. They don't know the law and they're legally allowed to lie to you. 3. NEVER consent to a search. No matter how innocent you are. 4. NEVER make a deal with cops. They do not have ANY legal authority to offer you a plea deal. They're trying to trick you into making a false confession. Many innocent people can be saved by this advice.

Private Military Companies Continue to Expand in Africa They are here to stay. Despite criticism, private military companies continue to expand their operations in Africa. With their growing presence, comes greater power and influence in the region. Critics say their presence only serves to fuel conflict and instability. But PMCs maintain that they are a force for good, helping to stabilize turbulent regions and promote democracy. Only time will tell who is right.

this guy on this ragchew just spent five minutes laying out how a lot of the recent drone sightings are just quadcopters or planes and people don't know what they're looking at. but then followed it up with "or it could be foreign spies who moved next to sensitive areas so they could spy with drones" and like. man. you were doing so good in that first part

Robot inventors (to use them as an example) often have company or private security arrangements that are or were deemed sufficient for them not to need standard societal protection from the usual sources like an average citizen would. This sort of arrangement allows criminals who are in those positions to disable observation and take flight from such societies. All private or company security arrangements should be reviewed especially in relation to waiver of the typical life support or monitoring or defensive measures other citizens have.

In the article "Training B-17 Flying Fortress Gunners for Masters of the Air" on The Armory Life, Capt. Dale Dye, USMC (Ret), discusses his role as Senior Military Advisor for the Apple TV+ miniseries "Masters of the Air." This miniseries, which aired in 2024, is part of a trilogy following the acclaimed "Band of Brothers" and "The Pacific." The article emphasizes the thorough research conducted on the 8th Air Force and the 100th Heavy Bombardment Group, also known as "The Bloody Hundredth." Capt. Dye highlights the intensive and realistic training given to actors to accurately portray the experiences of B-17 air gunners during World War II, including handling .50-caliber machine guns, adapting to cramped aircraft conditions, and recognizing enemy aircraft. He underscores the importance of highlighting the often-overlooked roles of air gunners to ensure historical accuracy and honor their contributions to the war effort.
