March 2, 2024: Happy STILLiversary!
🐞🐍🔪🏌🏾♂️🧟♂️🧟♀️🧟🍑🥃🥃🏚️💵🔥🖕🏻🖕🏼
10 years ago today, my very favorite episode of THE WALKING DEAD first aired—Season 4’s “Still.” It’s widely known in the fandom as “the Beth and Daryl episode.” 💘💘
The Bethyl ship had officially launched in the first episode of THE WALKING DEAD’s season 4—“30 Days Without An Accident”—when Beth Greene hugged Daryl Dixon during a tender moment shared while they were in her prison cell. But “Still”—the 12th episode of that season—remains the most significant in their relationship timeline because it’s when they truly begin to mutually understand and appreciate each other. It’s also important because it was the first ever “bottle episode” of TWD—meaning that it focused on only 2 characters’ shared story throughout Its entirety. Emily Kinney and Norman Reedus absolutely shine in their acting in “Still.” And their chemistry is so compelling, electric, and romantic! 💞
I created this Bethyl edit to not only commemorate this special anniversary, but to also bring Daryl and Beth into the Barbiecore era of 2024.🩷
Notice the price tag of this Beth & Daryl doll duo is the original air date of “Still”: 3/2/14. 😉
The Beth Greene and Daryl Dixon packaged dolls in this pic are actually the McFarlane Toys action figures. It’s a photo of my own Beth & Daryl figures that I took several years ago. They are dressed in the outfits they wore in the “Alone” episode—the next one after “Still.” Also, the photos of Beth and Daryl that I used on the “packaging” are from “Alone” along with Beth’s line of dialogue—“Don’t you think that’s beautiful?” 👱🏻♀️💚
So in a way, my post and edit here honor both of these beautiful episodes that feature this couple that I STILL ship so hard… 😍🥰😌
Beth + Daryl! 📗🏹
Beth and Daryl forever!!! 🐞♥️🐍

Hey! I know you usually write stuff about spider! Buttt I saw you reblog some Twd stuff (which I Love)
So I was wondering what some of your opinions are about the Twd characters? (You don’t have to answer since I know you usually do stuff with the avatar fandom!)
Oh please, I would LOVE to answer. I was, of course, originally a Walking Dead blog as evidenced by my name. I love any and all asks about any of my fandoms lol.
Very open ended question there are so so many characters, so if you have any specific characters you want my opinions on feel free to ask. Obviously when I was larger in The Walking Dead/Fear the Walking Dead fandom I was a gleggie blog, mostly a Glenn Rhee blog. I, like a lot of other people, stopped watching after season seven. It wasn't really an intentional thing, my family fell behind and we never bothered to catch back up. We rewatch the first few seasons very regularly though. I am of the opinion the show was really fantastic until about... generously season five-ish. The first three seasons of that show are some of the best television out there. My favorite episode is Seed (301), and my favorite part of the timeline is 4A, I ADORE prison era the most, as most of the fandom does, but the farm has a special place in my heart.
Opinions on characters, I think highly of most of them. I'm trying to think if I have any controversial fandom opinions. Oh, I do not understand bethyl hype and I was never that passionate a Beth stan. I never cared about Dale that much. I love Shane as a character, he's so haunting and such a fantastic parallel to Rick in the first two seasons. I hate Negan and my family was all turned off by the fact that he lived. My mom is a staunch Lori hater and she thinks Sam Anderson was a really ugly and annoying kid, which was always really funny to watch. Obviously like most Glenn blogs I think Glenn was really misused as a character, especially towards the end. I am a richonne stan and I will be watching that spinoff. I am, however, disgusted by the Maggie and Negan spinoff and by all Negan stans. Dude really was a rapist and we all do be forgetting that. Oh, and I am an Andrea hater and a Merle Dixon apologist.
I have Fear the Walking Dead opinions too, since you're all Avatar people you might not have seen my top FTWD post about my literal icon bestie badass Travis Manawa (Cliff Curtis) beat that walkers head in with a cinderblock and then throw it at racism border patrol asshole Noel Fisher (who I constantly forget was in this show) because fuck weapons when you can possibly hit that guy you're mad at. But you'll like it.
But tbh that show, although cool at the beginning, killed off more cool poc characters than fucking history itself. We stopped watching that one quick as hell.

A little prison era smutty one shot I wrote!

His hands gripped her hips tighter as he pulled her closer to him. Her back was pressed against his chest. His arms tightened around her.
"Gotta be quiet, Greene.Yer gonna get us caught,” his breath ghosted over her ear as he whispered into it. That one sentence sent chills down her spine.

I’m hungry for some Bethyl PRISON-ERA (the best era, fight me) jealousy! fic! Not Zach but like... some other older guy. Sue me.
(I have this idea with Murphy - yes, from The Boondock Saints - just like, somehow ending up at the prison and it’s gonna be Dixon brothers (coz ofc Merle’s there as support) vs MacManus brothers)

Artist of the Month: November 2021
November’s featured artist is another up-and-coming bright spot in the fandom, @wellbegood !
wellbegood can be found here on Tumblr and on Instagram @normans_peach.
When asked about how she became a part of the Bethyl fandom and what inspires her art, she shared the following:
So, how I became a Bethyl fan, you know it’s strange, I actually can’t recall when or how. But when I saw the two of them [Beth and Daryl] interacting together, I KNEW they had feelings for one another, and I KNEW they were going to fall in love. And I wasn’t surprised when they did in the slightest. Beth was instantly my favorite female character, because she was somewhat relatable, and she was so sweet and absolutely gorgeous, I couldn’t help but come to love Bethyl almost immediately. I got into the fandom super late, 2020 as a matter of fact lol. I was stuck in quarantine and was looking for something new to watch (new to me anyway) and everyone had told me to check out TWD, so I finally said alright and dove in head first. I binge watched the entire thing within like two months. I have always been a big zombie fan, but for some reason I could never seem to make myself want to watch it, I guess I just don’t like really long running shows, but I’m so happy I got into this one. As late to the fuckin game as I was!
As for what inspiration I get when it comes to making my little Bethyl creations, it’s just a matter of if I see something and my brain quite literally will go off like a bell and a lightbulb “BETHYL” and I put it into motion as best as I can! And it’s so much fun to do, the end results of each one have always made me happy and smile and pull chunks out of my heart in the best of ways.
Bethyl, as it is for all of us I can imagine, is very near, dear and special to my heart. It’s very important and delicate to me. So I always mean to protect it. Hence why I turn off my comment options on my IG.
On a personal level, I’m a very romantic and gently passionate person in my in love life, and the tenderness and chasteness, and the quiet trust and slow blossoming romance that Bethyl encased, was everything to me.
From strangers, to allies, to friends, and wrapping it all up into lovers, was so mentally done emotionally fulfilling for me. The slow budding trust, and the moments without any spoken words, just talking with each other’s eyes, and the physical walls that came down each step of the way. Obviously for Daryl.
It’s so reminiscent to my own relationship with my partner, who is very much like my own Daryl, minus the slight temper (circa original prison era Daryl), so I’m a little biased lol, forgive me y’all!
For her personal list of favorite artists in the fandom, she recommends:
There are SO MANY Bethyl artists that I’m obsessed with, but to name a few, would have to be as listed below:
@nikitajobson
@gala-art
@attheshrineofyourlies
@boltthrutheheart
@greeneroute aka bd_xotwd
yeagart
@littlelynxe
@spnfox
@itsmmmills
@aspaceformymuse
@unbadger
@normilyxbethyl
@no-more-happilyeverafter
There are probably tons more that I’m not remembering at present, but I love it all so much.
It means the world to me as I know it means the same to all of you. Bethyl is real y’all, and it will live on! Always.
She shared some of her own favorite creations with us:
“Reunited After All These Years”
“I Love You, You Know”
“Stay With Me. I’m Here”
“Kiss Me Hard In the Rain” (click to view animated .gif)
We are very excited to see what kinds of works of art wellbegood has in store for us next!

Honest Opinions on: The Walking Dead
Questions about the cast as opposed to the show will only be about the main cast as of 8.08. Main cast in this post is referring to the starring cast with title cards (Andrew Lincoln, Chandler Riggs, Norman Reedus, Melissa McBride, Lauren Cohan, Danai Gurira, Alanna Masterson, Josh McDermitt, Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Ross Marquand, Christian Serratos, Lennie James, Seth Gilliam) and the "also starring" cast who's names appear in every episode after the credits, regardless if they are in the episode (Katelyn Nacon, Pollyanna McIntosh, Austin Amelio, Steven Ogg, Khary Payton, Xander Berkeley, Tom Payne) Questions about the show or characters will be referring to every season. Favourite Episodes: Days Gone Bye, Tell It To The Frogs, Wildfire, What Lies Ahead. Cherokee Rose, Better Angels, Beside The Dying Fire, Killer Within, Clear, Too Far Gone, The Grove, A, What Happened and What's Going On, The Distance, No Way Out, The Next World, Knots Untie, The Day Will Come When You Won't Be, Sing Me A Song, Bury Me Here, Some Guy Least Favourite Episodes: TS-19, Most of Season 3, Welcome To The Tombs, Slabtown, Coda, Them, Thank You, The Same Boat, Rock In The Road, Say Yes, Something They Need Favourite Seasons: 1, 2, 4, 6 Least Favourite Seasons: 3, 8A Favourite Characters: Carl, Beth, Rick, Dwight, Jesus, Eugene, Gavin, Ezekiel, Kal, Gabriel, Glenn Least Favourite: David, Dean, Ed, Shane, Simon, Gorman, Daryl, Carol, Claimer Joe, Claimer Dan, Jadis, Jared, Tara, Gregory, Lori, Dale, Shane, The Governor Favourite Ships: Desus, Carzekial, Richonne, Bethyl, Rickyl, Aaric, DarylxAaron, Gleggie, Carnid, DwightxRosita Least Favourite Ships: Jaaron, Darsita, Caryl, LorixAnybody Guilty Pleasure Ships: Grimescest (RickxCarl) Regan (RickxNegan) Cegan (Carl x Negan, but only if they try to keep it a secret, Rick finds out and punches Negan's face in like he realistically would) Best on-screen platonic chemistry: Andrew Lincoln & Chandler Riggs Danai Gurira & Chandler Riggs Best on-screen chemistry (romantic, antagonistic, or otherwise) Tom Payne & Norman Reedus Andrew Lincoln & Norman Reedus Melissa McBride & Khary Payton Melissa McBride & Lennie James Andrew Lincoln & Danai Gurira Jeffrey Dean Morgan & Andrew Lincoln Jeffrey Dean Morgan & Chandler Riggs Steven Ogg & Xander Berkeley Xander Berkeley & Lauren Cohan Josh McDermitt & Jeffrey Dean Morgan Josh McDermitt & Austin Amelio Andrew Lincoln & Pollyanna McIntosh (these Garbage People are only okay with me because of the way these two play off each other.) Worst on-screen chemistry Norman Reedus & Melissa McBride (Whatever the relationship between Daryl and Carol is actually supposed to be... It's been 8 seasons and it still feels forced) Tom Payne & Lauren Cohan (this entire cheerleader thing Jesus does isn't even believable) Tom Payne & Alanna Masterson (these were not the people to do the moral compass vs hardened killer thing with this season) Best Actors: Andrew Lincoln, Danai Gurira, Melissa McBride, Lennie James, Khary Payton, Josh McDermitt, Chandler Riggs, Steven Ogg, and Xander Berkeley (sexual misconduct allegations aside. That's a different story) Worst Actors: Being completely honest here... Tom Payne, Alanna Masterson, Norman Reedus (How did this guy get a character CREATED specifically for him because of his acting skills as well as his own show... And have his character outlive the most important character from the source material.... When he's easily one of the least talented actors on this show) Best Deviation from the source material: Shane's character development and Terminus vs the Hunters, Wolves vs Comic Scavengers Worst Deviation from the source material: The Show Prison arc vs the Comic prison arc, the walker quarry subplot of 6A vs the comic version of No Way Out, Andrea's development, Grady Hospital, the Garbage People, skipping over Carl's recovery arc, the stupid and absurd way they remixed one eyed 9-year-old comic Carl shooting Negan from a distance, barely missing him and accidentally hitting Lucille by having show-Rosita, a grown woman with a lot more training and experience shoot at pointblank range and the bullet being deflected... Somehow... Almost all of season 7B was horrid TV-only nonsense other than the Sasha stuff and the biggest and worst deviation to date is the episode "How It's Gotta Be" as well as everything that will happen after it, especially season 9 if it actually happens. Why do I think this? You-know-who is the most central and important character in the next arc and these writers have almost always been AWFUL [especially during Gimple-era] when they try to come up with their own material. JUST use the damn storylines you're already given and STOP trying to be kreativ/stretch the material out with filler that doesn't do anything for the story! What would make me stop watching: #IfCarlDiesWeRiot... And if THAT somehow doesn't Daryl or Tara getting Carl's comic storylines definitely would. (Why would they kill the most important character in the whole TWD Franchise but keep these TV-only characters that add nothing! BTW, this is coming from someone who actually liked and would absolutely rewatch the episode "Swear") What would maybe make me start watching again: Scott Gimple being fired and the show handed to a writer who will do the comic justice in a respectful, good way even without the most important character for the Whisperers arc, Desus or Carzekial going canon, Daryl dying, or season 8 being Rick's dream and season 9 starts with the timeskip featuring with Chandler Riggs as Carl Grimes. All of these things together is the only way to guarantee me watching again. Best Showrunner: Frank Darabont Worst Showrunner: Glen Mazzara. And Scott Gimple because he did almost the same to Carl/Chandler that Mazzara did to Andrea/Laurie and he's STILL employed! I don't think any of this is a particularly popular opinion.

What do you think Bethyl's relationship status was during the time jump between 3x16 and 4x01 (which was about 6 to 7 months)? I feel like they obviously got a bit closer and I kinda feel like Zach asked Daryl about Beth before they got together. What do you think?
I think Beth and Daryl developed a friendship between season 2 and 3. He obviously trusted her a great deal, asking her to look after Carl (who had just put down his mother and whose father was having a mental breakdown) when she was already looking after the baby. Then Glenn brought up C@rol and Beth’s safety to Daryl when he tried to persuade Daryl to not bring Merle back to the prison. By bringing up Beth alongside C@rol, Glenn implied that Beth was important to Daryl. There’s even a deleted scene with Bethyl in it from that season, and though it focuses on C@rol and Merle, you can see Dixon duck into Beth’s cell. Maybe he went to talk to her, maybe he went to see Judith, maybe both. It’s a given that they would have bonded over the baby.
So I think they had a friendship off-camera that Gimple later further implied through their shared connection to Zach. Zach was closest to Beth and Daryl, and he was close enough to Daryl that he could teasingly call Daryl surly and Daryl allowed him to play his guessing game. So Zach probably brought Beth and Daryl closer together. Daryl wouldn’t have made his “damn romance novel” line in front of Beth unless they had a certain comfortability and rapport already established. Zach easily could have reached out to Daryl, a man he looked up to and a friend of Beth’s, for advice and thoughts on her.
I recommend reading these early-Bethyl-era metas on Zach and Bethyl’s early relationship: X, X, X, and X. @xbluemagnoliax was the one who really zeroed in on Bethyl, from 4x01 and back into season 3. I recommend her Bethyl metas as they are very insightful.

Do you have any head canons about little things Beth and Daryl might have done off screen to help each other out at the prison? They’re both always so elbow deep in keeping Team Family running in that era, you know?
Ohhh this is fun to think about. To answer your question, no I didn't until you asked. 😂 I love read prison set fics but I haven't ever thought about it too much myself as a writer. I'm sure I can think of more but these are the ones that popped in my head first.
(PS sorry almost all of my head canons mainly revolve around Judith.)
- Beth sometimes can't get Judith to sleep to save her life. One night, Daryl comes inside after a long day of working and hears Judy fussing and Beth trying her hardest to keep her quiet and get her to sleep. He comes to her cell and takes Judith and starts talking to her. Judith quickly falls asleep to the sound of Uncle Daryl's voice. From then on if Beth can't get Judith to sleep, she finds Daryl and he knocks her out within minutes. One day, it's nap time and Judy is fighting sleep so she goes to Daryl. He is cleaning a kill and can't hold her. Beth suggests that he just talks to them and maybe it might help. Sure enough the baby goes to sleep listening to Uncle Daryl.
-Beth sees Daryl stressed one day. He looks like he has the weight of the world on his shoulders. Beth knows Judith makes him happy. Beth approaches him with Judith. "Looks like you could use a baby break." She hands him the child before he can refuse. Judy smiles and babbles at him pulling a rare smile to his lips. He looks down to Beth and says thanks. Baby breaks become a thing between them.
-Beth and Daryl both get the least sleep out of everyone in the prison and they both shower at the oddest times. Daryl comes in the cell block one night and hears Judith wide awake. He goes to Beth's cell to find her looking worse for wear. He teases her about looking like the dead. She jokes and says she probably smells like them too. She hasnt been able to find time to shower with Judith plus all the work she does around the prison. Daryl tells her to go shower and he takes Judith. It becomes an unspoken routine. He will wake up early take his shower, then after he finds Beth awake with Judith. He takes the baby for her and she goes to shower.
- Anytime Daryl need anything stitched up, his clothes, his flesh, he goes to Beth. She doesn't make a big fuss if he's hurt and she's the only one that can sew. He is constantly ripping his clothes. Whenever he teases her, Beth threatens that she's gonna sew sleeves on all his shirts.

Yes! I'm actually posting a prison era smutty one shot tomorrow. I have thought of doing a longer prison fic, but I haven't come up with an idea that really works.

Written for Bethyl Smut Week, it takes place sometime in the prison-era before the Woodbury residents join. (Beth is 17, tagging underage in case) Basically, they go on a run on the motorcycle and Beth gets a little turned on.
